Hi ya'll
I just got my new phone delivered and its not all good but not to bad aswell. Well first of as a HTC HD2 owner ive been a vivid follower of new roms updates and so forth regarding my htc so now naturally im trying to tinkle a little with my new china phone.
So to the subject at hand what phone do i have...well i ordered a star N9880 with a 10$ upgrade for a MTK6577 CPU and when i got it it says on the backlabel and the ABOUT that it is a N9977 model. Well to be honest i dont mind its just that trying to root or flash a phone that you're not entirely sure of what it is might be easily one on the bricked pile. So i know there are alot of you guys out there with variations of this phone and if you have a minute lets sort it out and maybe direct other happy (or unhappy) owners on the right path for rooting and flashing...
This is my phone and as you see it says N9977 could anyone who knows reply if they know for sure what rooting method works and any other links to working roms, cwm and threds in general

Ok well after some digging and lots of emails this is what I got:
There is actually not anywhere I've found where they sell the star n9977 and that's weird because I have one in my hands now as I'm typing...
Well I ordered a Star N9880 with a 10$upgrade for a mtk6577 and i got a n9977 with no brand name apart from "alps" in the About menu. Then I read on a blog that star had changed the name of the star N9880 with mtk6577 to n9977 but still no where to be found online, anyway
Then we have the Upai n9970 that looks and according to a user is identical, now I'm trying to get a tech support to confirm they are identical and can use each other roms...
The n9770 does not look identical but similar so probably no go on that model for swapping roms..
I'll be back when I know more..

thats cause they dont want you to see the version on the phone
The 3 buttons are something new to me.I know WP7 phones have 3 buttons but they don't look like this one (Unless there is another phone with the same buttons) so what's the deal here? If it's real I hope it has dual core
Well on the 2nd Picture, the HTC logo is very pixelated while the rest of the photo is sharp.. not very thrustfully

if you note the 4th picture, see the logo is missing, looks fishy, but can never be sure
Why it doesn't have sense?
This really doesn't make sense, (pun unintended )
They only recently released the desire HD so why would they have a prototype of a second one already working, the name is strange and very unlikely to be named that, aswell as the fact it doesn't fit in with htc's recent designs (this one being plastic and shiny where as htc tend ti make theirs metal and interesting), on top of it obviously running stock android with no sense, and if it was an upgrade why remove one of the led flashes? And some more things
Sorry to be a downer on all this
definitely shopped
contrary to the specs, it's actually running AOSP FroYo. also, that actually looks more like that Motorola tablet which was announced the other day, not too sure though. the HTC logo is obviously photoshopped, i think on the moto tablet there is a verizon logo. either way, it looks really dodgy to me.
its a fake.
whyelse are the pictures well in common and then at the frame of the phone there are pixels and also on the pic with the HTC logo only pixels on the right top compare it to the left top. So why are we even talking about this bad fake pics?
Yea... its obviously fake, I mean the Desire Hd was realeased about 2 months ago, so there isn't much sense in releasing this so soon. Plus its not running sense, but that might just be because its an early version. Though that Htc logo almost definitley photoshopped.
I'm sorry if this has been discussed. Will AT&T ever get this device? If not where is the best place to purchase an unlocked GSM version of it? Thank You!
Pretty sure you could buy the AT&T version from Best Buy for ages now.

its not that bad of a question. If you live some place where Best Buy isn't or just ignore that inglorious box of blue stained diaper filler you'd not know that the i9020A was available there.
That said, having gone from a Captivate to a Nexus S myself, you might want to sit on your wallet for a bit and wait for the Galaxy Nexus to finally come to AT&T. I made the leap knowing that the captivate and nexus S are more or less the same hardware only because I knew the Galaxy Nexus was going to be uncomfortably large in my hands.
From an Android standpoint, a captivate with Cyanogen or some other AOSP based ROM will work and act like a Nexus S. Only real reason to move is if you want AOSP without having to work for it
The NS was never available at an AT&T store but only at Best Buy. This is why there is no AT&T branding as it really isn't a AT&T "supported" phone.

Hi guys here, I'm back !
My "old" but like new shape Atrix 2 was in dry cabinet for 8 months. Now it has been replaced with good mother board that came from broken screen one.

---------------------------------------------------
Been Atrix 2's user for 5 months. It's a very good phone with many advantages over other that I've ever used : rock build with manly body shape, runs fast and fast even at stock Rom, battery so good right out of the box and phone always be cool during of heavy using...
But unlucky for me, just a moment that I could not be patient anymore and made huge mistake and my phone gone to the hell forever
Now I switched to Google Nexus S with very cheap price for ~$150 and flash cooked Rom every ... hour ! OMG, I so wonder if an obsolete hardware like it can runs very fast and smooth with ICS or JB, even with all procedures in touch CWM : flashing, booting, backup and restoring etc... so fast.
I just need about 3 mins done for a every new Rom (including flashing + booting). So surprise !
Thanks all of you guys here. I've had lot of happy time here. Good luck to all !
Be happy with our Atrix 2 ! Goodbye !
So long, and enjoy the new phone! Feel free to stop in and say hello from time to time, specially after Jim finally unlocks that pesky bootloader!

And what could that be other than the Galaxy SIV.

What the hell is that?! It doesn't look like a flagship to me...
A Nokia Lumia like with some curves ....I like curves only on women though
Thats not hell , Its the New Display from SAMSUNG.
WOW
this is not even a phone prototype ,just a few images running in loop. good screen tech though, i love flexi
OP is exercising wishful display thinking.
That's just to show off the flexible display, not a prototype S4, if it was they would have announced it at the same time.
I love the technology of flexible displays but I just can't see the benefits in this prototype. Seems like it's being added to the phone because they can.

Lol.
Not even close to S4
They are simply showing off OLED Flexible screen which seems pointless...
i would post a proof that it's S4 or better change that "official" title...
This is the screen demo buddy. But in the video, the way the Widget menu has been shown , I m going mad to hold this in my hands.

Exactly, wtf is with official being in the title, there is nothing official here.
Some people don't understand what official means.

Please check the Video where the Prototype uses this display as well as the Widgets can be seen in the middle of the video.
OFFICIAL means, that this Pictures and Videos are released by SAMSUNG at CES , so they are not fake.
Hope everyone understands it now.
Much better title now...

It's cool, granted, but I doubt it's the Galaxy S IV. Surely they can't link this to the S range; it's a completely new design. It should be called the Galaxy Flex (maybe I should get that trademarked?)! Unless Samsung are as stupid as Apple are with their naming conventions?

yes, i would still say its not a phone prototype, to call it as a phone prototype you need atleast a few more thing demoed along with the screen. the screen protype shown dont even run on a OS, its just a few frames of pictures looping inside the flexi display unit.
Scratch that – it's essentially a digital picture frame, which cycles through various images showing what the display can do and isn't running any sort of mobile OS. It's also lacking essentially everything else: camera, radios, and most other hardware features. This is very, very much a prototype to display one potential use of this sort of curved display.

So i kind of fell out of the phone loop after my One X was stolen and had to use my POS Samsung Infuse. My taxes are coming in and i want to get a new phone again. I been debating on the Nexus 4 because the specs look pretty beefy and the reviews have been good, plus i like the ascetic to it. I'm just leery about it since LG doesn't have the greatest track record on phone since the G2x was a HUGE disappointment to me and the HTC G1 and G2 where my favorite all time phones. So in a nutshell, what phone would you suggest and why (also i don't want a note to, i don't like the size of it. 4.7-4.8 is perfectly fine for me.) But thanks in advance.
N4. G2x wasn't a nexus so a lot of stuff wasn't open source. That's why it was a mess. I still miss my g2x tho

It was a decent phone but it was way too buggy even if you flashed a new rom like Weapon. But like in said the reviews look great the only discerning thing is LG's track record and I don't want to wait weeks for it it. Plus I'm not sure if any decent phones are coming out in Q1 or Q2. I'm not going to get the S4 just because of how fast they come out and people jump ship to the new flagship Galaxy S phone.
