Hi,
Just rooted JB stock, on TWRP.
I'm looking for a stable, reliable, fast, no-dramas, no frills rom. Something that works and works fast. I dont want 100 ways to change colors and fonts of the status bar or 5 lockscreens etc. Just want simplicity, stability, reliability and fluidity, that's it .
So you guys recommend any?
Many Thanks!
CleanROM 3.1. Do it, do it.

I use Energy, seems to be, in my opinon, to be the most stable and best performance, :good:
I used Blackbean by team BAKED for the longest time. I love that it's all-black (easy on the eyes!) and pretty fast, although I find how "fast" a ROM is to be a rather relative measure.
I'd recommend Blackbean, but if you don't like it just stick with CM10. Tried and true

You should try some yourself.

Works very well and fast.
Later i install the AOKP Rom from Surdu Petru. It will be a killer rom !! I love it AOKP
Which kernel do you recommend for CleanROM 3.2? I tried to install kernel 1,6GHz CPU and 650 GPU, after installing my screen was striped at first asus bootscreen, and I had to flash again Asus stock kernel.

Have to agree with the CyanogenMod recommendation. I used to install random custom ROM's on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus), but then decided to try CM 10.1 with my phone and TF300T (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055430). While the TF300T isn't quite fully developed in CM 10.1 (the developer has a lot on their hands, but they are responsive and helpful), it is quite functional. There were some speed issues, but they seem to have been addressed, or at least lessened. It has nightlies, which is great. Plus, CM has an automatic feature to inform you when updates (including nightlies) are available, which I appreciate.
Well if you're looking for something that's stock, stable, and easy to use...I suggest seanzscreams' Asus Jellybean Hydro 5.0. I'm currently running it on my tablet and it is by far the fastest and most stable ROM I've used yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854212
Now if you're looking for a bit more customization I would go for either CM 10.1 or Blackbean 7. Those two (I personally think) are the best and most customizable ROMs out there, but yet again that's just me.
CM 10.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055430
Blackbean 7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015165
Edit: If you have the dock, I couldn't get it the charging working on either CM 10.1 or Blackbean 7. Also, on Blackbean 7 the dock keyboard works but the screen keyboard pops up with it....a bit annoying.
I've been running Hydro, definitely my favorite. Fast, overclocked, super-useful mods, all while maintaining the stock look, without the stock lag.
I'm on CROMI, but I get bored. Is Jelly Bean Hydro 6.0 better than CROMI 3.2.1 ??? I would install this, but I don't know can I get HYDRO 6.0 over CROMI ??? Of course I would wipe system & data / factory reset.

I have been running hydro since I got the tablet, great rom for all around use.
I've found that every custom ROM I've flashed has felt faster (and often more stable) so pretty much any of the main contenders (Blackbean, CleanRom, Paranoid Android, etc.)
But I can't find any of them that seem to have advanced support for tf300 dock - they seem so good for tablet alone but I need to do polaris office stuff and would like to see the status of the battery in the dock, and some don't seem to remove on-screen keyboard when dock is plugged in.
Please, someone disagree with me, i'd love to know if it's possible to get these three features in a custom ROM - until, stuck with fully featured ASUS Stock.

That's the main reason, others roms usually wait at least a couple weeks before getting the latest update.
If I were to flash another rom, it would probably be Revolver because of all the extra little mods revolver parts bring, but at the moment I'm very impressed with the speed of Android Revolution.
I use revolver so far, mainly becuase of revoler parts app
I use Revolver rom, reason :
Fast
Revolver Part with many gadget ( Theme, Kernel etc... )

I liked the boot animation of Prime, but I like the Revolver ROM the most, so far. The reasons: frequent updates, speed, stability, and of course, for all that Revolver Parts brings to the table.

This is 100% false. All four roms are usually updated about 2 to 3 days ( if not quicker) after asus sends out a new update.

You could use revolver yet still having boot animation of prime.
I am using the Revolver Rom
Stable, fast and very good Battery life
revolution is the first rom on my transformer. so far so good. stable and fast.
will try out others next update.
revolution,.. so far the most stable rom i used and its fast.
I like it
In my TF101G the best rom is Revolution.
I've tried Revolver for a week, but Revolution is more fast and stable.
Revolver has the bonus of the Parts that allow wide choises in customization, but the 3G component doesn't work completely: the SMS module is absent!!!
I've asked for help, but after a week I don't received any answer.
I think this is pretty serious problem and that the developer would have to do a clear mention about it in the first post, in addition to mentioning the best rom features in detail or writing how it's damn fast!
Hi!
I use Krakd Rom...
Fast, good battery life, no fc's...
Used Revolver for a week, but it had a dock battery draining problem, and it was laggy...
Revolver parts is, however, a nice touch...
Still have to try Prime and Revolution!
I like Revolver....on my TF very stable with the lastest Clemsyn kernel and Daemon OV..... plus revolver parts is an added bonus

I dig um all tbh! each one has its perks. currently on prime. just saw a brand new dev though going to check it out.
I like prime, so far it is the only one that re-directs work in the browsers and its stable.
I know there are a lot of us TF700 owners out there, but I am always surprised by how few downloads I see everytime I go to update CleanROM Inheritance.
Let's all give a shout out to which ROM you are using on your Infinity and why it is the best option for how you use the tablet.
It will get overly complicated if I include the kernel version in the poll, so let us know which kernel works best for you as well and if you are using Data2SD.
Sorry if I missed any options.
For me - rockin' CROMI 3.03 with Clemsyn 1.3-1.8 kernel. So far super smooth and stable. Nothing fancy on my setup - not into theming or heavy gaming. I do wish we had more options for extending battery....
ParanoidAndroid here, per app DPI settings makes my life so much better it's not even funny. Some examples of how: I reduced the dpi on Shortyz Crossword so that the clue text becomes large enough to read and the keyboard is usable; on the other hand I increased the dpi on my launcher and web browsers (especially overskreen) to get more screen real estate out of them by reducing the size of the status bars, icons and controls. Basically this rom lets me fix programs that have issues with high resolutions without affecting other programs that aren't having problems, truly a great rom!
Currently CleanROM Inheritance 2.7.2 ODEXED with Clemsyns 13-18
Running ADW.Launcher Ex with Multi Picture Live Wallpaper app..... and boy it's smooth and fast
and it looks absolutely Great!
I'm waiting for new 3.x ODEXED which should be even faster
Cleanrom 3.0.3
Went back to Nova after using ADW for a while. I too use Multi Picture Live Wallpaper.
This rom saved me from selling my Infinity.

I'm currently on CROMI 3.0.3 with Clemsey Universalstock700ver2 kernel and so far everything seems 95% smooth. It's mainly the transitions that arent smooth. Games are definitely better with the overclocked gpu. But I will try Baked Black Bean. Which Kernel do you use with it?

Wow - surprised at how few of us are using the custom ROMs available for the TF700 overall. As a CleanROM user I tend to see a few new users every week that post questions as they flash for the 1st time, but I guess I expected much more volume overall.
Of course I realize that the custom ROM type does not generally hang out in the General forums, so the #s are very anecdotal.
Does the Build matter???

Just keep trying. I had issues too. But the third day of trying it about 20 times a day it finally worked.
I'm rocking inheritance with the kernel 1.8ghz, 700gpu, 1450mw. Love it. I have used cm10 in the oat on my old fallacy tab, it's also great. I really the half way stock feel.
My TF700t is still stock. One thing that bugs me is how slow it is! Choppy, loads apps kinda slow. Will rooting and using a custom ROM speed things up?
Also ---- I read on here that custom ROMs put the navigation buttons in the middle? Is that true?
Thanks for you help!
Rooting allows certain apps that will speed the tablet up. Installing a custom rom will increase the speed of the tablet tremendously, however to do so you must unlock your bootloader which then voids the warranty on your tablet. If you install a 4.2.x rom yes it will move the navigation buttons into the middle, however not all roms are 4.2 yet. When ASUS releases 4.2.1 for the tf700 they will have it optioned to switch between layouts, which will be implemented into Cromi when it is update, is what I guess will happen. So you will have the choice. But you wont be forced to use the new layout.

If you root it, you can install Browser 2 Ram and that will help with the browser lag.
To install a custom ROM you will have to unlock the bootloader, which will void your warranty -for good!
And it can make all the difference...
I was frustrated and disappointed with the TF700 until I unlocked and flashed CROMI -now I adore it!
Each custom ROM is slightly different. What you are referring to may be the 4.2. launcher which puts the soft key buttons in the middle.
There is no 4.2. stock or custom Rom for the TF 700 yet. But the 4.2. release for the TF 300 lets you choose between the 4.1. and 4.2. launcher. I would expect it to be the same once we get 4.2.
But then... I would not touch 4.2. unless it's been CROMI'd

If the best they can do is that multi-user capability, I will probably stick to CROMI 3.4.4 as well -- at least we have very little known bugs whereas a new 4.2 stock ROM might bring unknown new and fresh ones. Ugh. Another boatload of work for sbdags and _that...
One thing rooting does is give you the authority to define which apps load on boot (startups). This is huge since you can disable most of these and get back tons more RAM after boot, which is the main reason this device is so glitchy in my opinion - lack of sufficient RAM. Phones run strong in 1GB RAM. Tablets do not. Because you typically load so many more apps on the tablet, all the RAM is gone by the time you boot. And when its gets low on RAM, all hell breaks loose. Not to mention the lag, if thats not bad enought, but 25 apps just can't run together properly in 250MB of space. Now try 260 user apps like I have and you'll agree you have to root.
After rooting and tweeking I now get about 500MB of free RAM after boot and use RAM booster (by Root Uninstaller) to manage and autoboost my RAM regularly. Its now fast, reliable, and runs all week without ever random rebooting like it used to do all the time. Also, Dev Options, enabling "Force GPU rendering" is highly recommended.

I'm going to go ahead and add to the countless times this has been said aready, just for the record, and for the future readers of this thread.
1. Free RAM is wasted RAM.
2. I had a lot of apps installed, but I didn't get past the 130 mark. Who the Hell has so many apps in use anyway? This is an invalid remark, im ny opinion, for it has absolutely no bearing on the device's capabilities, but only says something about the owner. With that kind of number of apps installed, you make it impssible for ANdroid to manage your memory.
I haven't rooted my device yet but when you root it you can use programs that allow you to speed your phone up (battery drain)

If you are looking for a look and feel close to stock, just much, much faster, go for CROMi-X. It's also more stable than CM because it based on the Asus framework.
If you want to customize to the wazoo and don't mind the occasional hiccup, go for CM. It is build from the ground up and offers way more options to personalize the tablet.

Er....
Kernel - 5 choices now I think
DPI - Pixel definiton
Resolution 1080p or 720p
Which Asus Apps you want / don't want
Which Google Apps you want / don't want
5 different boot animations
Loads of performance tweaks incluing overclocking, underclocking, over volting, under volting
Additional options and menus
Full theme support through the excellent Colour Theme Mod (Change colours of almost anything and battery icons etc)
And loads more.
In fact I probably went a bit mad on the number of permutations I offer! It's a wonder they all work!
NTFS supported kernel?
Which of the cromi-x kernels support a 1Tb external drive? I flashed the ROM but I can't remember which kernel I picked during the installation. It couldn't read my external drive or a new 64 Gb microSD. I flashed back to stock which does support both BUT it is too darned slow!!!! Which should I pick next time?

CROMi-X
berndblb probably summed it up the best in Post #4 but for me the only customROM choice is CROMi-X!!!
There are plenty of options and choices from rock solid stable to flying out of your hand fast but the most significant reason is you get a personalized team devoted to CROMi development, From the Master sbdags to the kernel developers, the software contributors as well as the testers. They seem like one big family... You basically get a bonus feature of an "Android Classroom" with this ROM. I have learned more about my TF700 from just following along with the OP's for all the CROMi-X versions.
Good luck and have fun with CROMi-X
I've been using CROMi-X since I got my tablet last christmas. I love all of the customizations that they make available, plus all of the kernal options that they include.

I do like CROMi-X, using 5.1a. But I must have something not tweaked right. I still get it being bogged down when a software update from the Play Store is downloading. Also Lookout software checks everyone, so I guess that could be the culprit. But other than that, I do see some speed improvements over stock. I still have all but 3 of the Asus Apps installed. Just rooted and unlocked this week. So need to figure out what I really don't need in terms of apps.
optimizing loop
Upgraded to 5.1a odex and on every reboot go thru optimizing applications. Installed 5.1a deodex and it boots just fine. Reinstated 5.1a odex and does the same optimizing loop on every boot.

Choose a different kernel.
As the TF101 has been around for a LONG time and much dev has gone into ROMs, Apps, and mods, I would like to know what is the most optimized setup for this device. I want to get the most out of my TF101 and I am wondering what the fastest most stable configuration is? Also what are cool uses for this tablet...i.e. any cool ways to unlock it? Any cool ways to use the sensors inside?
I am currently running KatKiss 4.2.2 #226 with the built in kernel.
OCed to 1504 and running SmartAss V2 and Noop governors.
Antutu Benchmarks at 9566 today.
Id say you have the best config already
Be sure to run in a terminal the two optimize scripts from time to time.
su
/etc/kat/optimizedb
/etc/kat/optimizestorage
That will keep it running in tip top shape.

I just add it to crontab, too forgetful :s
Is there any reason to go to 4.3? I don't see much improvement except for the automated DB/storage optimization.

Depends where you are. 4.0.3 to 4.1 is a HUGE step in performance and smoothness. 4.2 is slightly faster and 4.3 is even faster feeling to me.
Most users who go from 4.0.3 to 4.2 or 4.3 are AMAZED how it feels like a brand new updated tablet.
I am actually already on KatKiss 4.2.2 so I'm wondering if it's worth it.

I feel like it is faster.
My suggestion - backup KatKiss 4.2.2 in TWRP.
Dirty flash to 4.3 (you can dirty flash from 4.2.2 to 4.3 but cannot dirty flash from 4.3 to 4.2.2)
See if you like it better.
If not, restore 4.2.2.
Also, many of the customizations in the Control Center are not implemented yet (mostly status bar and nav bar customizations like different color buttons, glass, different battery icons, etc)
If you live by these, stick with 4.2.2.
I may wait until there is a more mature stable version with less "things that don't work" I just ran the cleanup tasks suggested above and ran AnTuTu again and scored 14000+ so I'm pretty happy where I'm at =)
I find a good total wipe(minus sdcard) with a fresh rom once in a while speeds things up. Don't you find? I've been sticking with katkiss latest 4.3.1. Going from 4.2.2 to 4.3 had storage path issues. Not sure what else. Maybe stick with 4.2.2 for now if your satisfied. 4.3.1 is fine though. Then when its ready possibly switch to Katkiss 4.3.1 v27 with split screen. That might be cool.
Katkiss V27 if you want split screen and easy swap between apps which I love. I have been running Team EOS and then Katkiss for over a year (when including both) and pretty much upgrading my rom weekly whenever a new nightly came out. The Katkiss 4.3 v25 and up has not only been the best rom I have ever used on this hardware, they have also been the most stable without a doubt and even overclocked. I think 25 has been the most stable ever but I have not done a factory reset in awhile. It may be awhile for v27 to be stable since some apps really have issues with split screen. I think it is more an issue with the apps and not the rom.
