Hi, as @Shadows... said : since your using CM10, you should not have any trouble turning wifitether on. Just turn it on in settings.
FYI, if you don't want to download any apps that will definitely give you a bunch of craps, I recommend you flash this ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074328
It's based on the stock ATT Jelly Bean, but WAY BETTER ! Lots of toggles, smart-stay....There is technically nothing different from the original leaked J.B, except this one is a lot better.
There is no hassle turning wifi-tether on !
If you don't want to flash this rom, download : Easy wifi tethering. It always works for me. But since its a free app, it gives you a lot of ads that will appear on your home screen.

tether no longer working on JB based roms?
Okay my wifi tether was working great on Mohans 5.0 ics rom, but now since upgrading to 6.1 JB, my wifi tether stop working! I tried using the native wifi tether under settigs..no luck.

[Q] Droid1 MIUI Tethering Problems

I cannot get wifi tethering to work on my Droid 1 when running MIUI, stock froyo, or Cyanogen. I have tried Wireless Tether on all three ROMS, I can connect to the phone, but no Internet data is transferred. I'm currently using MIUI 12.3 and found that it has a built in wifi tether that also fails. Barnacle didn't work either.
From what I can figure out this may be either a kernel issue (I never changed it from stock, but MIUI may have its own?) or a problem with how I achieved root (superoneclick). I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks!
I am curious to see what the answer is. sorry i am no help to you. but i also have a old droid that i want to mess with first before i start messing with my evo.

[Q] Is there an ICS Rom with a solid working WiFi Tether connection?

I am looking for an ICS rom that has a solid working Wifi-Tether program/connection/solution?
I'm a sys admin and like to work remotely...sometimes in places where there is no net connectivity.
If anybody has a suggestion for me...I am greatly appreciative!!
Even if its not ICS, I am open to downgrade until they hopefully sort it out with CM9.
Thanks everybody!
On any ICS ROM:
1) Download Barnacle and Wifi Tether for Root Users.
2) Open Barnacle, check "skip wpa supplicant" in settings, run it, then turn it off once it's closed.
3) Run Wifi Tether and connect your device to your phone.

Thanks...I understand about barnacle and skipping the wpa supplicant...but what do I do after that, because I still cannot get it to work properly??
not sure but I think VirtuousRom's primadonna might do; they say it's alpha but I use it as a daily driver and only have to reboot once a day ;-)
The latest cyanogenmod9 alpha5 by tbalden & korneyone now natively supports the wifi tethering. I've been using it for several months and the bugs are almost non-existent (certainly unnoticeable to the majority). I think the only one that most people would notice is the lack of 1080p support (but 720p still works perfectly)! There's a few others out there, but they are mainly only in the more obscure features.

Ordroid 9.0.0

Does ordroid 9.0.0 have working WiFi calling and WiFi hotspot.

As far as I know, for wifi tether, it only works using 3rd party APP (can't remember the name, it had a yellow icon, and it was provided in older versions of the rom), but it does not work with stock feature.
In fact, I think it doesn't work in any of the sense 4 available roms out there. I guess it's something ruu base related (remember back of those days when bluetooth wasn't working, and in the meantime it got fixed).
wifi calling related, I cannot tell, as it is not an available feature in my country (only via skype, and the like).
ordroid has working wifi but if you want tethering you need wifi tether app confirmed working, just get the settings correct. IM using akop eye candy now, same tethering app is still working. If you need help with the settings let me know il help. I was running o rdroid before aokp so I know it works. hope this helps. The app worked in 4 out of 5 roms. Only ROM it did not work on was imagination.
Its a free at in the playstore . simply called wifi tether. Its a God send!

Ordriod 9.0.0 tether reply
Im currently using the Ordroid rom 9.0.0 and its flawless as far as butter goes , the hotspot problem
for most is big for me i personally dont like it anymore because i have a SIMPLE mobile sim running on T-mobiles towers
and i used hotspot for about 4 days when i recieved an email that i violated the terms and conditions of the data part of the contract
because i was using a program that appeard to be running my data memory therfore i was left in the dark with no internet for 3 weeks so wifi
hotspot not an option for me just be careful and read you service providers terms before turning on your hot spot

Maybe try the ViperS ROM. That's a new ROM, and shnizlon (the creator of ordroid ROM) joined the development. As I know, the ordroid project is finished.

They solved the wifi tethering problem, and you can update the ROM via OTA.

[Q] UCLL3 Native Tethering

OK, I know I've asked this before, but NO ONE will give me a clear answer!
I am using the second i727 JB leak and want native tethering. SQLITE does not work and neither does ULTRACFG. I read and get different answers on this. I *KNOW* it can be done.
PLEASE dont tell me to use FoxFi or Embryo. No disrespect, I am PERFECTLY happy with using the leak and do not want anything else.
What do I need to do to get this working? If other JB roms can enable wifi tethering, Why cant I enable it in the leak?
Thanks!
I don't believe native wifi tethering even works on Mohans 6.x ROMs, reason why I'm still on his 5.x rom, for wifi tethering, anybody?

I'm using native tethering since EMBRYO 6.0 came out. No problems with it. How can it be more clear than this?
Yup
That is the very *first* Mod I do, as it is *required* for me ..and it should work flawlessly and reliably...
To answer OP's question, if you do not want to do the Mod yourself in the leak (it is little bit involved, if you need to do it cleanly), just pay for it dude and it will work fine that way too..

[Q] Questions about the p509 and CM 10.1

I recently upgraded my rooted p509 running 2.2.2 Froyo to cm-10.1-20130604-EXPERIMENTAL-p500-gapps.zip, and then cm-10-20130108-UNOFFICIAL-p509.zip, both CM 10.1 builds (using the oldbbfix_signed.zip patch) and noticed that the wireless tethering wasn't working on either.
I was wondering if f it was an incompatibility with CM 10.1, or if using the old baseband on the newer roms might be the reason for the loss of wifi tethering? What is the advantage to flashing a newer baseband on p509?
I've looked around and seen that a few people say the newer baseband is faster and drains less battery, but I can't seem to find anything on whether or not it affects wifi tethering functionality, as this was one of my favorite features.
If anyone has been able to get wifi tethering working on CM 10.1 with a p509, I would love to hear how.
Thanks in advance!

Sweet, thanks for the heads up. Gonna reflash the nightly 10.1 and see if it works. Searching the google play store on my phone shows that there are 3rd party apps for tethering, and also some apps for rooted androids to 'fix' tethering. Do you have one that you prefer and find to work well? Thanks in advance.
Try Easy Wifi Tethering or Wifi tether for root users

Nice, tried both and they both worked. Does native Wifi Tethering just not work for CM 10.1? Also been having problems with GPS and bluetooth, but so far I can't find any reported bugs about those not working... I've read around that GPS errors can be related to the older baseband, and bluetooth / tethering are driver / rom related... is that true?
Sorry for all the questions, thanks for the tether apps though, really excited about 10.1. Thanks in advance!
True. I've flashed a few versions of this for tests, but as of now using ICS as my daily rom.
