Hey guys,
I'm getting a lot of random reboots in the last couple of days and I have no clue where the problem could be. It seems that the phone reboots only while its in idle mode and during listening music (screen off).
I'm running TrickDroid 9.1, stock kernel, no OC/UV. Issues appeared with the 4.0.4 MIUI Sensebased ROM. I've already tried different roms, kernels, wiping, fixing, formatting .. nothing.
Someone has an idea? Thanks in advance!

Hello people.
Since I got my sensation I have been trying a bunch of 3.5 roms, mostly Virtuous 3.0.0 beta and ARHD 4.1.5.
It seems that somehow, after I install all of my apps (~250) I start to get bootloops. Phone boots normally, loads sense, but after a minute or two it just reboots. Sometimes it even shows a "process system is not responding error" but tapping on "wait" does nothing. This happens even if I underclock to 1.18GHz and in ARHD has also happened with just 30 apps installed, just after I set up a bunch of HTC widgets on my homescreens!
I know most of the times bootloops have to do with kernel. In ARHD I tried both the stock kernel, the latest faux beta and the bricked kernel. With no luck.
Now, to make sure that the bootloop wasn't caused by one of my apps, I did the following: I split my apps onto three "sets". a) bought from market (around 70), b) free from market (around 120) and c) saved .apk's (around 50). Yesterday after flashing Virtuous, I spend around 6 hours installing them in random order (a/b/c, c/a/b etc) and rebooting multiple times between them, as to eliminate any potential apps. While at first it seemed ok, after having all of them installed I started having bootloops again.
Weird thing is, the first two or three reboots went on normally before I started getting loops again.
I'm using Radio 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 with corresponding RIL.
Battery does not get hot, around 31-32c on boot and gradually becomes cooler.
Any ideas on what else to try and troubleshoot next? Radio possibly?
I highly doubt it has to do with the number of apps I have installed... could it be that my phone can't handle sense 3.5 roms for some reason? :/
ps: I'm NOT dissing those roms! I'm just reporting weird behavior on my handset
edit: I just flashed stock 2.3.5 kernel on Virtuous and tried again, seems to be fine for now. I'm gonna try a couple of more manual reboots, even try InsertCoin for the last time if it fails and then go for a 2.3.4 Sense 3.0 Rom :/
edit2: still no luck, bootloop after a couple successful reboots :/

Hi,
How are you installing all of your apps?
Are you ,by any chance ,using Titanium Backup to restore the data?
And if so ,are you restoring any system apps or data?
Restoring system data from an old ROM to a new ROM has been shown to cause problems.
Nope, thought that would be the case at first and tried downloading them from market/installing them through ES, same result :/
Edit: what bothers me is that even tough the first couple of reboots are stable, usually the third or fourth result in a bootloop and or a "process system is not responding" error. Like something is being written or I don't know what at those first boots which causes the erros and bootloops afterwards.
Could this be attributed to my phone not being able to "handle" the leaked 2.3.5 rom?
I had the same issues on my Desire HD with some 2.3.5/Sense 3.5 roms, however once I flashed a 2.3.4/Sense 3.0 one bootloops stopped.
Sorry if the problem was solved somewhere else, but I didn't find any solution before. Now I am using Charmeleon 5.1 Rom, and before there was OrDroid and InsertCoin. With all these Roms Bricked kernel caused reboots after about 3 minutes of every phonecall and sometimes random reboots. Using other kernel like faux's solved the problem, but I'd like to use ViperS Rom which supports only bricked kernel. I've tried many setups of bricked, almost every version and all of them caused reboots. Can anyone help me solving this problem?
I couldnt post in the kernel thread because I don't have enough posts yet..
I installed clean Rom a month or so ago and have been updating to the new versions ever
Since, everything had been running perfectly on the stock kernel. I got the itch to try a new kernel and
decided to try out the elemental kernel (later tried the beast mode as well). Ever since I flashed the new
kernels in recovery my phone keeps stuttering and the screen jumps a bit every couple of seconds, also the
browser keeps reloading when I am on google.com.
I have tried flashing both kernels with different options as well as clearing cache before and after flashing, plus
fixing permissions but the problem continues. I also did a factory reset and reinstalled clean Rom and both kernels.
Has anyone had this happen to them before and know of a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Are you overclocked? Not every phone can handle oc'ing.
No. At first I tried the kernels with the oc to 1.7 option, but then I tried both kernels with no oc, no gpu oc, no sweep to wake, and no
Under volt but the screen kept flickering and the apps kept having hiccups.
I flashed the stock kernel from viperxl and now the phone is back to normal.
I am on 2.20 with the hboot 1.14 by the way.
Hey all. I'm wondering if those of you who experienced kernel locks during reboot or random reboots with Embryo 7 are having the same issue with other roms? I tried Embryo 7 awhile ago and started experiencing the random reboots and kernel locks other experienced. I've switched to a number of other roms, but the problem persist. The reboot/lockup can occur after a number of days to weeks. Any idea what to do? I generally download the desired ROM on my phone, flash via TWRP, reboot, then after settling reinstall apps via TiBu.

I clicked on the Kernel tab, and tried the franco.Kernel, and simply get stuck in bootloop, I look at the tags and it seems like most of the kernels only support the old KitKat..?
In addition, it seems the kernel scenes is a bit haywire now with AOSP/CAF...?
Could someone gimme one or two kernel suggestion that works with rooted OOB 5.0.1? I am just trying to quickly fix my sister's N5 here... she got nothing but nightmare after upgrading from 4.4.4 to 5.0, constant reboot, crash, battery drain... so i just now wiped the whole thing and flashed a fresh 5.0.1
Any help/suggestion on kernel would be appreciated. <3
Update:
Tried Elemental X, the phone reboots randomly now... And also just googled problem with Nexus 5... it seems like 5.0 and 5.0.1 have TONS of random reboot issues...? Goddamn it Google...
Do any of you have a stable ROM (stock or custom) that doesn't have random reboot issues?

i use franco kernel 70 with stock rooted 5.0.1 with no issues. but i don't see any differences between stock and franco. neither performance nor battery life.
This Nexus 5 is just getting worst... it random reboots now.

Sorry to hear that. Could it possibly be a hardware issue since you say it's happening to you across all software? Corrupted storage media could cause random reboots such as that.
I'm not seeing any myself, though I do reboot the phone about once a week just as a precautionary measure with L's RAM management.
Was having this issue with Stock and Custom ROMS ended up going back to KITKAT and no problems. Hopefully they will have this fixed with 5.1 that will be released soon.
Stock one is allways the best choise. You must be aware, that the stock one is build by a lot of good developers and custom ones are made by individual enthusiasts. There is nothing wrong with that, but the pure logic here speaks by itself.
Used a lot of different roms
ordered my nexus on release day, used quite a few different roms and i've never had a random reboot.
