[Q] Phone stuttering after flashing kernel. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I couldnt post in the kernel thread because I don't have enough posts yet..
I installed clean Rom a month or so ago and have been updating to the new versions ever
Since, everything had been running perfectly on the stock kernel. I got the itch to try a new kernel and
decided to try out the elemental kernel (later tried the beast mode as well). Ever since I flashed the new
kernels in recovery my phone keeps stuttering and the screen jumps a bit every couple of seconds, also the
browser keeps reloading when I am on google.com.
I have tried flashing both kernels with different options as well as clearing cache before and after flashing, plus
fixing permissions but the problem continues. I also did a factory reset and reinstalled clean Rom and both kernels.
Has anyone had this happen to them before and know of a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Are you overclocked? Not every phone can handle oc'ing.

No. At first I tried the kernels with the oc to 1.7 option, but then I tried both kernels with no oc, no gpu oc, no sweep to wake, and no
Under volt but the screen kept flickering and the apps kept having hiccups.
I flashed the stock kernel from viperxl and now the phone is back to normal.
I am on 2.20 with the hboot 1.14 by the way.

[Q] Problem with 1.6 Kernel

I Know this should be in the Developer section, but I don't have enough posts. (Since you have to have at least 10 to do so...)
BUT, I installed a kernel from Blades which is the 1.6ghz with the latest version of CWM. The problem is that whenever I try to boot up the device it just stays on the first startup screen, and it also makes a weird popping noise from the speakers about every 10 seconds. I did wipe Dalvik Cache and I also made a back up before installing the new kernel. I've tried restoring but it does the same thing every time. Before installing the kernel I was running PRIMEORDIAL! v3.1...
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks

Hi Mate, You are not the only one. Unfortuantely 3.0.1 kernels don't work too well with 3.1 roms as you have discovered.
Not to worry though as this is an easy fix.
Simply flash the 3.1 stock kernel and you're up and running again. You can get it from here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14283676&postcount=94
Wow, I didn't even realize that kernel was only for 3.0.1 lol. THANK YOU! Flashed it and it started right up! C:
You may now have wifi problems, since the kernel update will have installed a different module to the one you need, if this is the case just reflash whatever rom you are using.
Okay cool, I'm on wifi now and it seems to be working fine. So thanks again! :]

[Q] All Kernels Lead to a Black Screen

After surfing the forums for a couple days and not finding a completely precise answer to my problem, and due to being limited by posts, I have to ask a question here. I have rooted my phone, installed a number of different roms, but the only issue I have run into is flashing faux123's kernel and the Trinity kernels. No matter what kernel I attempt to flash I receive the wonderful black screen. The touch buttons light up when the screen is pressed, but the rom does not seem to load in the background. I am doing something wrong when I flash the kernel, or is there another problem that I have not found?
I have flashed UV and normal voltage kernels, along with going to advanced under CWM and formatting each part of the phone.
EDIT: Resolved the issue. It appears the only rom that works with these kernels on my phone is the nightlies. Thanks everyone though.

if i was me after reading what I've found online i think i would look for a more reputable dev when it comes to kernels.
Reputable? Faux and morfic are among the elite devs for our device. They don't get any more reputable than them.
-custom sig.
CM7 should work, whether nightlies or stable. Trinity requires ext 4 support, meaning CWM touch won't work. Previous version 5.0.2.0 (I believe) should be used to install trinity. Faux should have worked so not sure why it failed on other than nightlies.
All CM7 based ROM should work with these kernels.

[Q] ICS ROM's freezing

Hey everyone,
After trying almost every single ICS ROM available for my O1 P500h, every ROM seems to have the same problem. Although they all run very good, the phone will just hang at random points, but mostly when installing apps. Then requires a hard reset battery pull, or will reset itself after about a minute. Does anybody know of a solution to this? It wouldn't really be that much of a problem if the phone didn't take so long to restart.
I've seen other users report this problem to ROM dev's as well however the problems seemed to be fixed for them by a newer update for the ROM, but even if I use the newest version I still get this problem.
It's not present on CM7, or Jelly Bean (4.1 or 4.2) ROM's as far as the ones that I've tried. I feel like I've tried every single ROM for this phone already. I wanted to move on from CM7 because of it's lack of new-ness compared to ICS and above, and on the other hand Jelly Bean ROM's don't have a lot of internal storage compared to ICS ones, which is a problem for me because I download lots of apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've tried TWRP, CWM 5.0.2.7 and CWM 6.0.2.7. I've been flashing by formatting everything but sdcard (so boot, system, data, cache, etc.) and then installing zip from sdcard. I tried flashing HepHappy's ROM, IcySnap, XperiaICS and Protos9.

The stock kernels which come with the ROM's, which allow you to overclock the phone to 800-something MHz. I never use the overclock though and keeping it on 600MHz that comes out of the box still has the problem. With GB I'd overclock it to 729 for normal use, and on JB 748 for snappier performance with no bad things happening (well, besides battery life)

[Q] Random visual flashes/errors while using fresh PA

Hello, some of you might recognize me as the one who was having trouble installing PA last night.
Now I've got it installed, and it runs very smoothly.
Specs off the bat...
TF700T Infinity
VoltageControl Overclock system set at 370-1800
Very latest gaps, installed last night from g+
MaxKernel V4 Reloaded RC2
Installed and flashed through TWRP
ParanoidAndroid 3.15
Likely enough for myself, all of a sudden, a few hours into having the ROM, kernel and gapps freshly flashed, the screen starts giving random graphical flashes and blips here and there, and it's grown to a point where I can't use my tablet without a flash every three seconds.
To explain exactly what is happening, when I switch from app to app or UI section to another UI section or any of the mix, it will brightly flash what I am switching to/from while I do it. For example, I will be opening up PIE and it will flash the app screen in full for a split second if PIE is over it.
Anything that I am doing wrong? I have a restore from a few hours ago set up, will I have to use that?
If anyone has any advice/assistance, please let me know.
Thanks,
Neb
EDIT: I tried resetting the overclocking system to stock clock. No change whatsoever.
Also did a restore. No luck
Turn off the corresponding setting in the developer options.
Also Max's kernel is a stock based kernel. I'm surprised PA even boots off it. I'd switch to a PA compatible kernel of I were you.
Thank you for helping me out on this. I saw some posts stating that Max was a PA based kernel. My bad. Got it taken care of by reverting to PA stock kernel

Help! Reboots/Restarts across multiple ROMs and kernels

Hi guys,
I'm experiencing reboots when I push my phone hard. I typically have reboots when I'm using Chrome to view webpages in desktop mode or when using GPS (Google Maps, Waze). I've used two different roms and a few different kernels, but seem to be experiencing the same reboots across all platforms (and various rom/kernel combinations). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Device: T-Mobile Samsung Note 5 64GB
Recovery: Philz Touch
ROMs used (COJ5):
Hyperdrive RLS2
Hyperdrive RLS3
fOrEvErLoCo's BrEaKdOwN R3.0.1
Kernels used:
Stock Hyperdrive RLS2 Kernel
Stock Hyperdrive RLS3 Kernel
Stock fOrEvErLoCo's BrEaKdOwN R3.0.1 Kernel
arter97 N920TW8 9.4 Kernel
arter97 N920TW8 X Kernel
SkyHigh N920T TW LL Kernel
Could this have anything to do with SuperSU?
still random rebooting.
and apparently we currently can't downgrade from COJ5? Double
Any help would be very, very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

As of right now I'm on jovy23's COJ5 Deodexed Stock Rooted Rom, installed after a fresh wipe of cache, dalvik, data, system, etc.
I seem to have found what was causing the reboots. I think it's giving Lastpass accessibility rights.
All throughout the initial installing of apps, the phone never randomly rebooted. Shortly after I got all my apps up and running, the reboots would begin to happen (sometimes twice in 15 minutes.)
Even on this fresh install of the deodexed stock rom, I had one random reboot. Since turning off Lastpass in Settings > Accessibility, I have experienced zero random reboots.
Did anyone else experience this? I'm wondering if it's specifically Lastpass that's giving the phone issues or Accessibility as a whole.
Will try to see if turning off Lastpass on the other kernels and ROMs helps next week and will post an update.
Thanks everyone!
