Dear all, what case and/or screen protectors are people using please?
Thanks!
hey i just got mine in the post today from amazon, fitting it and it looks awesome, can't even tell its there, i messed up the first one though but i think you get a pack of 5, i dont know if this is cheap ,but i baught it anyway...

after my delight with the Brando screen protector on my HTC Touch HD, I've ordered one for my Desire.
Fitment was perfect, and in a year, i didn't get any scratches whatsoever, and the protector looked good as new too!
Use of the touchscreen wasn't impeded either.
I also ordered a Gel 'skin' type case from the Brando site too.
They should be arriving sometime this week.
Until then i was using the felt/velvet 'sock' slip on case that came with my Touch HD..... but at the weekend i found a leather belt-clip type case on a seat whiled getting off an Airplane, (which was a perfect fit) so i've been using that
after trying a number of screen protectors i finally paid the extra and opted for the brando ultra clear. best i have ever used on any phone i have had.
http://shop.brando.com/bw-ultraclear-pda-s-p-htc-desire-_p4339c18d8.html
i have even removed it, washed it then replaced it, no bubbles look as it did when it was first applied.
Anyone tried Gelaskins? Ordering and I'll let you know...
http://www.gelaskins.com/
I'm using a matte screen protector, and just ordered a PDair leather flip case.
Got a Capdase gel case when I got the phone, and its not bad at all. Applied an invisibleshield on the Desire too.
I just ordered a case-mate tough from Play. Seems to be getting some decent reviews. I'm currently using a cheapish case and screen pro from Fleabay.

I use Martin Fields screen protector and Otterbox Commuter case ..
Just received one I bought on eBay:
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250684540907&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Or you can just search for "Desire case" or something like that. It fits well and feels good quality. Haven't used it for many days though.
Nope, no screen protector or casing whatsoever. With the exception of a scratch on the metal bit around the camera (hmm, how'd that get there.. ) my phone still looks brand new after 3 months. Of course, I have been keeping it away from the pocket with all my keys .
I'm using a Krusell case but no screen protector.

Otterbox commuter has arrived from mobilefun. Actually bigger than I thought so I'm not sure how big the defender was going to be. Quite pleased with it, bought Martin fields screen protector as well, making the whole thing virtually perfect.

is an ivisishield a screen protector aswell
I'm using a gel case that I got from a telus store.
I am using the Otterbox Defender case and love it. Well worth the dollar paid. But I do not have any screen protector. Was thinking of the invisibleshield prior to the otterbox purchase.

Zagg "Invisible" shield, works well, but comes in 7 pieces and the smaller side bits are fiddly to put on. Clear Gel case I got off e-bay for AU$3.00. Combo works well.
i am using a cheap silicon case from Etui, transparent black. I dropped my Desire for the first time 2 days ago, landed roughly on cement floor. Thanks God no scratch at all.
as screen protector i use the not-so-cheap one from Vikuiti (3M), but the quality is very good and none of my friends notice that I put a screen on my Desire. And you can wash it and it will keep it's adhesive to the display.
who uses a screen protector and what is the best one?
Ive had this one on my phone since early December and no complaints or problems. Highly recommend it. http://cgi.ebay.com/3x-LCD-Screen-P...Accessories&hash=item27bcad8c90#ht_500wt_1139
I usually go to RadioShack. They have cut to fit ones, but don't use the "Wright Right" ones, as they suck, MAJORLY. They scratch way too easily, and have removable film on only one side. I prefer the kind that has removables on both sides. Basically, I peel off the back, then apply, and there is another film sheet on the top that I can keep on while I use a credit card to pour on the pressure to apply, then remove that upper layer film and have a pristine, beautifully applied screen protector. Oh yeah...
You don't really have to have one.. this screen is unscratchable. I never have used one and there is not a single mark. I personally like to take a pair of scissors to it as hard as I can to show off to friends. But do as you please. Lol

I need one. I'm a mason I have scratched the crap out of it

Unscratchable my a$$. I had to take my screen protector off for 3 days and it definitely got scratched.
If you keep it in a pocket, sand (quartz) can scratch it.
i had one for my moment and the problem i had with that was that when i would drag my fingers across the screen it would slide smoothly, it was jumpy that was a zagg screen protector just wondering if there was something better or if they are all created equally
I have an extremeguard.com shield on mine, not terribly happy with it, I've had zagg shields and bse shields and they where pretty similar. So I would probably recommend one of those over the extreme guard.

Www.bodyguardz.com....its worth it covers the screen and the black bezel around the screen
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Zagg invisible shield. Hands down.
Its like $20 and if you get it at a mall kiosk they'll apply it for you. It also has an unlimited lifetime warranty. So if the protector gets scratched, if it peels up/comes off you can take it back and they will give you another protector and only charge couple dollars to apply the new one.
Can't beat it.

Has anyone had any experience with Ghost Armor shields on their phone?
I'm lovin' RealLook. It was the 3rd brand out of 3 that I tried, and have been very happy with it. Smooth to the touch, applies well, no funny glares...

I've heard reallook has fingerprint issues, but so does our stock screen so it wouldn't both me. I wanted something that almost matches the look and feel as if it weren't there. Still waiting on it, but I believe others will agree. +1 for RealLook
I have used Zagg shield, and Ghost Armor. I love the Ghost one because its way smoother than Zagg.

I just got a cheap $1 3 pack from amazon, I figured I could use them while I looked around for some better ones. Turned out they were better than I thought. I can't even tell I have a screen protector, and I have 2 spares although a lot of people said that they sucked because they would leave bubbles, but if you've ever applied screen protectors you know that the bubbles are human errors and not the products fault. And for the price why not try them out. But whatever you do DO NOT get that crap wright protect from sprint, those just suck. In case anyone was wondering yes they were cut out, even came with a little card and cloth.
I work in a sprint store, and I ended up ordering the $1.49 anti-glare protectors on ebay.
For one; they are way cheaper than even my employee discount on the Write Right brand 3 pack, and two; they cover the entire front bezel.
They are awesome, go on smooth, and I like that the matte finish makes it smoother to use the screen than the naked gorilla glass. (I'm not worried about scratches as much as the feel of using the screen - big reason I hate the Invisible Shield protectors.)
I still actually like the ones we sell in the store, and I've put on a lot of protectors for customers, and these almost always go on really well with no bubbles, and no need for a squeegee (meaning no need for the top plastic cover.) Some people really like the privacy anti-glare protector that comes in it, but not really a good idea if you want to use it for GPS (unless you have the phone pointed directly at you.)
The write right brand aren't a bad purchase, but to be honest, you could go with the ones in the link above, and get a better product for cheap from a great US seller.
zagg's are probably some of the worst and most overpriced screen protectors. try ghost armor
You can try stealth shieldz there nice cheaper then zagg. Tho zagg is on ebay right now 5 dollars a pop for the kit. also xtream guard is a sweet protector too. All those are worth checkin out.
Sometimes the cheap ass ones work pretty good.

Totally agree, wouldn't own another phone or ipod without the invisable shield.
Best buy has too for 20 but 8>00 to put on for you but they are quick at it and good, definetly worth the extra few dollars to lt them do it.
The ones I have tried are the "dry" application type and because of the way the screen is curved it seems to peel up on the edges constantly, and having a case on just worsens the situation. Do the wet application protectors work better? Like Invisible shield? What have you guys foound that works well and stay putt especially on the sides?
My Zagg is working great. I have the front and back covered with it. No peeling at all and really nice.

I have the AT&T Branded Dry Application one.
It doesn't cover the sides so it doesn't peel up. However the small side bezel is not protected. It covers everything else though.
I got 6 of them for $12 at the AT&T store since the guy applying it screwed up
Also this should be in the Accessories section...

No, mine isn't the Zagg one. Its an AT&T branded one, that AT&T manufactures.
Skinomi all the way. Same material as Zagg actually. Just cheaper in terms of price + life time warranty.
thanks guys, that gives me a couple good choices to choose from!
And ye sI realized this should be in accessories after I posted it lol, oops
Use XO Skin.... really good... Covers the full screen... as good as nothing is there.. I got the full body protector... workes really well...
I tried Skinomi before two times ... but it was never good... had the orange peel effect...
Really? Cause they are not known to cause that. I know Zagg is. All my device have Skinomi.

I just put the XOSkin on mine and I really really like it. Very easy to put on, is totally invisible and covers the whole screen. Since it covers the entire screen, you literally cannot tell there is a protector on it. Absolutely no bubbles, bumps or streaks. Easily the best I've ever used.
Would any of you who have either the XOSkin or the Skinomi be able to tell me if the full body skin covers the glossy sides of the body? I've seen some that only come up to the lip of the matte and not all the way around, so I am trying to figure if either of these do. Thanks!
Sorry, mine is screen only.
Xoskin full body doesn't protect glossy sides

Didn't like the AT&T one because it was anti glare or something . Not completely clear. The new dry zagg is ok. If you use any case that overlaps the glass it will lift the zagg up. My favorite was the one that came with my nillken. Left a little area on the edge of the glass unprotected so all of my cases worked fine.
Have always used "bestskinsever" on all my devices. So much cheaper than the others and quality is great.
Used Skninomi and wasn't too impressed. I used this eBay seller before getting a screen protector for my GS II Skyrocket. They are selling a three-pack for less than $2 and the quality is awesome

Try phantomskinz, I have it on mine and its matte. Give a very nice touch. It covers everything except all the ports and camera

I've got the Zagg HD on the front and the Zagg standard on the back. It's a great combination. Even though it doesn't cover the entire glass section of the phone it's still completely invisible, no orange peel, and works great with cases. Honestly I feel that this setup with a case is better than any other method of protection for this phone.

Wow these new otterbox cases are way better then the old ones. The plastic isnt flimsy anymore and it fits it perfectly on the One S. I've spoken on it and used speaker phone and it doesn't make it harder to hear or be heard. A deff good buy and on amazon or ebay its only $35
I was wondering if anyone has seen any accessories that can fit to the otterbox defender case? Before I had my HTC HD2 and I had a car mount that fits the otterbox case perfectly.
I'm getting mine tomorrow. Does it come with a screen protector? Cause I like my InvisibleShield HD screen protector and want to keep using it.

I prefer my Skinomi TechSkin because it is the same thing but cheaper. I've used the Zagg products before, but wasn't impressed enough to get a replacement when my keys stretched it in my pocket and ruined it. I do love my TechSkin, however.
Got my defender today..Not that impressed with the built in screen protector. It seems to bubble and give you a tactical feel to it.
otterbox defender vs commuter
I'm thinking about buying this case but im not to sure.
For you guys that already have it i've got some questions.
This is for the defender:
How much weight does it add?
Since it has a screen protector I don't need to keep my old one on do i?
Does it have a non belt clip piece? (flat back)
For the commuter:
Sounds like this one doesn't fit correctly any feed back?
^^ No, OB Commuter Case fits well. Had one on my One S for a few weeks and been happy with it.
Just got mine today. First impression is great product. Will post in a few days after some real world usage.

I just got my Otterbox Defender case and I absolutely love it. Its a little bulky but I take my phone with me on my bicycle and this case really has the protection I need in case I drop it from the bike.
I like my Otterbox defender very much. Makes the phone a bit bulky but protection should be good. The only thing I recommend is to throw away the built in screen protector as it makes the readability of the screen really bad. I replaced it with a normal clear screen protector and now I am satisfied.

need to buy one of those :good:
I don't notice any problems with the built-in screen protector. It works well and does't obscure anything on the screen, as far as I can tell.

I've got both now too, I ordered the Defender and they sent a Commuter by mistake, said keep it and we'll refund since we don't have the right one. Just got the Defender from another seller.
Build quality on both is really excellent, it took me a couple of minutes to work out how to get the Defender apart to get the phone in, it's that well put together.
The screen protectors on both leave a lot to be desired though, the one on the Commuter is good but leaves the top of the glass bare, the one built in to the Defender is just awful, it works fine but makes the screen very grainy.
My phones are subject to lots of bumps and knocks at work and good all round protection, especially for the screen when not in use, is important. The Defender with the addition of a decent screen protector fits the bill perfectly.
I got Commuter for mine, quite happy with it, but have to agree with the screen protector tho just doesn't cover all the screen so I left it off but in the 3 months I've had this case I've put it through a beating with no damage to my phone

otterbox defender vs commuter
i would go with the defender because what i see on the website it has a belt clip which the commuter doesn't have
Bit annoyed today, the retaining clip on my Otterbox holster snapped off while I was taking the phone out of it.
I'll get a chance to see how good Otterbox after sales service is.
I've never used it before, but I've heard good things, which is making me consider buying a full body protector. My question is this: who's used one, who's going to be getting one, or if you're opposed to the thought of it, what would you recommend?

Don't you guys like XtremeGuard? Which one would you recommend, XtremeGuard or BSE or Skinomi?
I recommend Armorsuit or XOskins. Armorsuit is available on Amazon and XOskin here. XOskin original price is more expensive but they are good but use 55% off coupon code cybermondayftw on XOskin when you checkout and today is last day for the coupon code. Hope that helps. I have heard people complaining that other screen protectors was missing the cutout for the proximity sensor but XOskin has the cutout so I ordered XOskin. I don't know if Armorsuit has the proximity sensor cutout or not but I know their quality is good because I have used them before too. Hope that helps.
I guess I'll be the odd man out and say I'm really impressed with ghost armor. I used it on my gs2 and my gnex and plan to get it for my n4 also.

I feel the same. Ghost armor feels just like glass and I've never had anything close to the orange peel feel on my nexus one/S/Gnex. I just received my shipment from ghost armor for my nexus 4 and can confirm that the glass feel applies to this phone as well. Going to get it installed at the mall kiosk because I'm so bad at it. I can report back if anyone is interested

Defeats the purpose a bit, I know but it's got the TPU case on it and the edges (volume and power button side) cannot be felt, nor is the screen protector affected by the case (unlike my GNex - the POP! case is really tight)

--wrong thread---
I can vouch for the quality of Ghost Armor. Used these screen protectors for all of my devices. It adds good protection and just the right amount of "resistance" to touch, all while maintaining excellent clarity considering the durability of the material. Good scratch protection and self-heals most of your typical little scratches. I currently have one on my N4, and I am not disappointed at all. The guys and gals at the booth do an outstanding job applying it, and you have a lifetime warranty on it. Can't beat that.
I can also vouch for the quality of ghost armor as well. The camera and proximity sensors are perfectly cut out, and it feels just like glass. It has a wonderful texture and clarity unlike any other screen shield I have used before. I have a tight case on and it doesn't peel at all. Their warranty system is excellent as well, a free replacement if your current one peels/dents (I have yet to experience this). If you do go for the replacement, you may want to bring in your old screen protector if you peeled it off, as the mall stand near me requires that you bring it in order to receive a replacement.
One thing I dislike is that it doesn't cover the curved edges on the right and left sides. I hope they will fix this in an updated version of the skin, but otherwise, to me it is the perfect screen protector.
I also recommend these guys. Outstanding product with a lifetime warranty. I had the screen protector put on my Nexus 7 about a month ago and I am just as happy with it as from day one. Since then I've had my wife take her iPad Mini in for a screen protector as well. Certainly worth the money spent, although I can't vouch for the skins.
