Best screen protector - Epic 4G Accessories

who uses a screen protector and what is the best one?

Ive had this one on my phone since early December and no complaints or problems. Highly recommend it. http://cgi.ebay.com/3x-LCD-Screen-P...Accessories&hash=item27bcad8c90#ht_500wt_1139

I usually go to RadioShack. They have cut to fit ones, but don't use the "Wright Right" ones, as they suck, MAJORLY. They scratch way too easily, and have removable film on only one side. I prefer the kind that has removables on both sides. Basically, I peel off the back, then apply, and there is another film sheet on the top that I can keep on while I use a credit card to pour on the pressure to apply, then remove that upper layer film and have a pristine, beautifully applied screen protector. Oh yeah...

You don't really have to have one.. this screen is unscratchable. I never have used one and there is not a single mark. I personally like to take a pair of scissors to it as hard as I can to show off to friends. But do as you please. Lol

I need one. I'm a mason I have scratched the crap out of it

Unscratchable my a$$. I had to take my screen protector off for 3 days and it definitely got scratched.
If you keep it in a pocket, sand (quartz) can scratch it.

i had one for my moment and the problem i had with that was that when i would drag my fingers across the screen it would slide smoothly, it was jumpy that was a zagg screen protector just wondering if there was something better or if they are all created equally

I have an extremeguard.com shield on mine, not terribly happy with it, I've had zagg shields and bse shields and they where pretty similar. So I would probably recommend one of those over the extreme guard.

Www.bodyguardz.com....its worth it covers the screen and the black bezel around the screen

Zagg invisible shield. Hands down.
Its like $20 and if you get it at a mall kiosk they'll apply it for you. It also has an unlimited lifetime warranty. So if the protector gets scratched, if it peels up/comes off you can take it back and they will give you another protector and only charge couple dollars to apply the new one.
Can't beat it.

Has anyone had any experience with Ghost Armor shields on their phone?

I'm lovin' RealLook. It was the 3rd brand out of 3 that I tried, and have been very happy with it. Smooth to the touch, applies well, no funny glares...

I've heard reallook has fingerprint issues, but so does our stock screen so it wouldn't both me. I wanted something that almost matches the look and feel as if it weren't there. Still waiting on it, but I believe others will agree. +1 for RealLook

I have used Zagg shield, and Ghost Armor. I love the Ghost one because its way smoother than Zagg.

I just got a cheap $1 3 pack from amazon, I figured I could use them while I looked around for some better ones. Turned out they were better than I thought. I can't even tell I have a screen protector, and I have 2 spares although a lot of people said that they sucked because they would leave bubbles, but if you've ever applied screen protectors you know that the bubbles are human errors and not the products fault. And for the price why not try them out. But whatever you do DO NOT get that crap wright protect from sprint, those just suck. In case anyone was wondering yes they were cut out, even came with a little card and cloth.

I work in a sprint store, and I ended up ordering the $1.49 anti-glare protectors on ebay.
For one; they are way cheaper than even my employee discount on the Write Right brand 3 pack, and two; they cover the entire front bezel.
They are awesome, go on smooth, and I like that the matte finish makes it smoother to use the screen than the naked gorilla glass. (I'm not worried about scratches as much as the feel of using the screen - big reason I hate the Invisible Shield protectors.)
I still actually like the ones we sell in the store, and I've put on a lot of protectors for customers, and these almost always go on really well with no bubbles, and no need for a squeegee (meaning no need for the top plastic cover.) Some people really like the privacy anti-glare protector that comes in it, but not really a good idea if you want to use it for GPS (unless you have the phone pointed directly at you.)
The write right brand aren't a bad purchase, but to be honest, you could go with the ones in the link above, and get a better product for cheap from a great US seller.

zagg's are probably some of the worst and most overpriced screen protectors. try ghost armor

You can try stealth shieldz there nice cheaper then zagg. Tho zagg is on ebay right now 5 dollars a pop for the kit. also xtream guard is a sweet protector too. All those are worth checkin out.
Sometimes the cheap ass ones work pretty good.

Totally agree, wouldn't own another phone or ipod without the invisable shield.
Best buy has too for 20 but 8>00 to put on for you but they are quick at it and good, definetly worth the extra few dollars to lt them do it.

*updated* Stealth Guards full body skins for $0

http://www.stealthguards.com/index.php/t-mobile-g2-full-body-protection.html
These have to be the cheapest skins I've seen. Only pay shipping. $2.85 to Connecticut for me. I actually ordered 2 for $4.85
Haven't heard anything about their quality before, but if they are at least as good as other discount skins like BestSkinsEver, then I will be happy.
Zagg and the other more expensive skins are a complete rip off. So far this is also the first FULL cover skin I have seen for the G2.
I'll post pics and a review after I get them in a few days.
*UPDATE*
StealthGuards are not great. No where near "full protection" like Zagg or BSE. Didn't even finish installing because they aren't going to do what I want.
I'm actually using the T-mobile snap on gel skin (smells like ass when new, but fits great) and T-mobile anti-smear screen protectors (best I have used, amazingly). Got both cheap cause wifey's an employee.
Also, The snap on BodyGlove case T-mobile sells is twice as much as the gel one I have, and the fit sucks. It actually keeps the keyboard from opening all the way, making it wiggle forward and back.

I would not recommend these. Got 5 for my nexus and they all sucked. Main thing was the screen protector it looked horrible
Don't waste the shipping cost there horrible. Very poor quality there definitely not cut to fit. You will literally not even use it but just toss it.
still waiting for Bestskinever. its literally the same as the invisible shield though it doesn't come with a spray bottle, squeegee and fancy packaging. and it cost about 1.3 that of invisible shield.
Orderd one.. lets see how they hold up..
Normally buy ZAGG's but their quality has been horrible lately
Hope these are a little better than the cheapo ones on eBay..

On my HD2 it looks great. Installation is the make or break for these. They are like the Zagg ones in feel and quality. i ordered 4 @ $8.85 Basically $2.85 shipping on the 1st one $2.00 for each additional one.
I'm always weary of anything that I have to adhere to my phone.

There is nothing wrong with them. My HD2 full body was free, just pay shipping. They do promos all the time on new/popular devices. if you pick a kindle or a laptop or gaming device, they are priced. they do it to get their name out there. these have less texture on the film than zagg does. its smoother in my opinion.
Just got this Stealth Guard In
Hey guys,
I just got this for my G2 and I would have to say that it doesn't protect as much as the BSE or ZAGG skins. IT seems as though their plotter that makes the 2d cuts to fit a 3d object isnt really equipped to do any type of compound curvature. I installed it because well, it's better than nothing until BSE has one.
Installation: Installing this skin is super easy because it doesn't cover any corners or edges.
Coverage: On the front, it covers the whole screen including the black edge and capacitive keys and the plastic area below the track pad.
On the back, it the aluminum batter plate, the flat surfaces of the soft plastic and the spaces above and below the volume key and micro-usb port.
It does not protect ANY corners!
So, if you plan on getting this case, be aware that it will protect your phone from normal scratches involved with placing your phone on its front or back but will not protect the edges sides and corners.
On the front, can I use it as just a screen protector? I want a screen protector, not sure about the full body coverage. I dunno, I just ordered it, guess I'll see how I like it when I receive it. I mean, it was only $2.85 or so, so if I do not like it, it's a non-issue to pitch it and go buy a ZAGG or the T-Mo branded screen protector.
But the main thing I am interested in is screen protection
I had one of these on my nexus and it sucked ass. Also got one for my friends vibrant. Def not worth it. Ill get a zagg for my phone. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Received mine today and installed it. Easy install and looks good. screen protector fits perfect. Only thing is edges are not protected due to the roundness, also the metal around the screen is exposed because of the roundness also I assume.
I got mine in the mail today. I had a really hard time with it. I got it on the battery protector okay, but it doesn't quite fit. One side is too long. It may shrink after drying.
It's wet application and I just could not bring myself to wet down my G2. You also have to squeegee the water out from under the cover once it is installed. I imagined drops of soapy water dropping down into the speaker grill while doing this. I attempted to put the back piece on. It is shaped like a "C" and goes around the battery cover and has a cut out for the camera. I tried and tried and just could not get it to fit right.
I think I will go to T-Mobile tomorrow and just get a screen protector, unless I can find someone to professionally install a full cover. So right now just the battery cover has the Stealth Guard on it. I'm okay with this for now.
I don't usually have trouble with these things, but this is my first wet install. I put a full decal set on my Cliq with no problems at all.... Dry install. It was from skinit.com and I really like it. I included some pictures of my Cliq because I really like the skin and I want to show it off So hopefully they get some in for the G2.

I did say it was easy, but this was my 4th wet install. For example near the speaker i pushed the water away from it. Also before i start to squeegee the water i lay a cloth over the area before i squeegee to absorb excess water. My 1st install was on my G1 which i ordered a stealth guard for as well, the current invisible shield on it is looking beat up.
Don't get the T-Mobile screen protector, its one of those anti smear ones. When its on the screen it makes it lookf pixelated a little and in my eyes, down plays our G2 screen resolution a lot. I would try a clear one from amazon, cheap, easy to install and clear to see through.

Actually I picked one up today and I really like it. I see what you are saying about the pixilation though. But the feel of this thing is excellent! Very smooth under the finger. I was also able to put it on without a single bubble or dust speck underneath. I had one like this for my Cliq and if I remember right the pixilation mostly went away after it was broken in.
I saw a Zagg shields kiosk in my mall when I went to get the screen protector. They were busy so I didn't get any pricing. Maybe after this one wears out I'll go get one professionally installed.

Agreed, I actually like the t-mobile screen protector better than any others I have used. I don't notice any pixelation at all. covers the whole screen perfectly. Seems durable. And it's SO nice not to be constantly wiping smudge marks away like I had to with other protectors.
I'll add this update at the beginning too: but StealthGuards are not great. No where near "full protection" like Zagg or BSE. I'm actually using the T-mobile snap on gel skin (smells like ass when new, but fits great) and T-mobile anti-smear screen protectors. Got both cheap cause wifey's an employee.
I want to get a gel cover from T-Mobile but I have leather case that it wouldn't fit into any more. Tried out some other ones in the store but they were also too small.

Maybe if you measure the G2 with the cover you like, you could find a leather case that fits but was intended for another phone.

Screen protectors

So, after watching the Zagg youtube video on how easily the the
Captivate's screen scratches. I decided I once again needed a screen protector; so I did a search on amazon and found xtreme guards. For $2 your can get a screen protector (which is what I did) for $5 you can get a full body protector, so my screen protector came in today, and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the quality; it's easily the best screen protector in terms of material I've ever had (and I've had tons of em).the best way to describe it is like the window decals you put on your house for holidays only thinner.when installing you of course get a hard plastic installation card, and when working out the bubbles and install solution I was surprised to find the protector it's self not scratching! like so many other countless protector I've installed in the past. The instructions said it takes about 2 days for any hazeyness or bubbles from the install to go away and there's a little of both still left. The bubbles are no big deal as I expected them because I SUCK at putting these things on. However I would like the hazeyness to go away but only time will tell. Bottom line for the price these things are amazing! And if your insecure about scratches like me then you need one of these. I give it my kick ass product stamp of approval!

Zagg is also pretty impressive. Although it is quite a bit more money you easily get what its worth. Zagg also makes me condoms xD jk
The biggest and main reason for me only buying ZAGG products is because of the lifetime warranty they come with. To me its a no brained for a protector. If I mess it up they send me a new one free of charge. If the corner peels or it gets caught on something they send me a new one. Greatest protector in my opinion.

I had the full ZAGG on my Evo and loved it! Does anyone know if they make a full one for the Fascinate WITH the extended battery and door? I couldn't find anything about it on their site but wondered since it's an OEM accessory?

Yea my only problem with zagg is paying $14-$24 for a thin piece of plastic that I can never apply perfectly anyways.
Sent from my crippled with Bing, Galaxy S phone.
With my Droid X I went with a Steinheil Ultra Crystal and it was really great because it covered the whole display and was perfectly clear, very transparent user experience.
Since then I traded the X in for the Fascinate and unfortunately Steinheil hasn't released the same protector for the Fascinate yet. So for now I went with Zagg shield because the Verizon branded protectors are horrid (don't cover whole display, nasty texture, and dull the gorgeous display).
I'm not too impressed with the Zagg, but it covers the whole front and is relatively responsive and clear.
My biggest gripe is the orange peel effect as well as little lines of distortion (almost looks like application solution that didn't dry or something, like a water / oil on screen effect).
It also takes 24hrs to "properly apply" so that may be a downside because they tell you to turn the device off until dry.
Also the material has a habit of retaining any indentation from fingernails and such, almost like a rubber memory type plastic.
Perhaps some of my issues are to do with poor application of the protector so personal experience may vary. Some people were saying it takes 2 weeks of heavy use to fully cure. These are nit picky gripes of flaws I see in Zagg compared to the Steinheil. I believe Zagg to be a more professional military grade protector, but the steinheil seems to offer a better viewing experience.
I would recommend going with something temporarily and then switching it out for the Steinheil once they are available, my preference of course.
Steinheil Ultra Clears are THE BEST CLEAR screen protectors out there, period. Nothing is more optically clear, durable, no orange peel/distortion, easy to install, able to be installed with NO dust, etc. I've used every brand of screen protector out there over the last 15 years, and they are THE BEST I've used.
As mentioned, they're not out yet for our phone though. I e-mailed them and they said they are going to be making them but they're a few weeks out at least. They suggested watching their twitter / facebook page.
So since they're not out, I'd recommend going with "whatever" for now. I'm going to use one of those $2 full protection ones that are mentioned in this forum
The best ANTI GLARE protectors, are Boxwave ones. But given how beautiful this display is, I don't think I could recommend putting an anti glare on this screen.
I just want one that covers up the whole face of the phone
you can get a bunch of those on ebay
I just bought the Realook screen protectors from Amazon - they cover the whole screen and are very clear, can't even tell it's on there. Fairly easy to apply too - they are $9.99 for two of them.

I got the $2 Stealth Guards "full" body protector, mini review:
The Stealth Guards films are better than nothing, but not much grippier than stock (in terms of the battery door slipperiness issue). They come with just two films, front and back. Application and clarity is similar to other "invisible shield" type products. Not a very good screen protector (orange peel, tiny bubbles, not crystal clear), Steinheil is WAY better, but they don't have them yet for our phones so I'll use this in the mean time. Also, they cover the light/prox sensor at the top of the phone, which I found made the automatic backlight adjustment sorta freak out and switch more often than it should (probably because the protector is relatively thick and not crystal clear) - I cut a tiny window out around them with a razor blade and that fixed the issue. They shipped in an envelope, inside another envelope, I ordered 3 sets for myself and friends, and every one came with wrinkling/damage. Fortunately the films are very durable so the films themselves were unharmed - it was the paper backing that was wrinkled. Still, they could of reinforced the envelope with a little cardboard.... Also they come with no instructions or packing at all, just bulk/oem packed. Still, for $2 they were worth it, but not worth much more than that.
I just got a Fascinate today and it should arrive tomorrow or Wed. Since the recommended Steinheil wasn't available, I decided to get a Zagg InvisibleShield since I had one on my TP2 and it was fine after it dried for a few days and got a few days use. If anyone else wants to get one, I found a 50% off discount code for Zagg products that worked, so I got it for $10 with standard shipping. Use code "50sport" when checking out and you should get 50% off your order.

Hey guys, I remember watching this youtube video (go to 2:22) and you can tell that the Fascinate is just a little bit taller than the Vibrant:
Since I am a new member, I can't post links, but go to youtube and search "samsung fascinate review mobile burn" and it is the first video that shows up (part 1 of 2). Again, go to the 2:22 mark and you can see the difference.
Hope this helps

Screen shield and gorilla glass

I've got the Otter Case and put the included screen protector on. Left it on about 1 day and removed it. The look and feel of the plain Gorilla Glass is just too nice to hide behind plastic. Kind of like buying a nice couch and putting a plastic slip cover on it. Something your grandmother (or great grandmother) might have done. I just try to keep it away from keys.

I use zagg invisible shield, it's quality, love it, love the feel and everything, looks 100% flawless, and frankly improves the screen if you ask me.
Others have talked about lines etc from it, I have no clue what they're talking about.
If anything the zagg invisible shield improved my phones look AND feel.
went naked with first sgs4g, wont do it again with the new one. I didnt use one the first time because everyone was saying that gorilla glass pretty much wont scratch. I tried my best to keep it away from keys and things but somehow still managed to get a few scratches. A pack of protectors and a belt clip off of amazon for about 6 bucks total and you cant even tell there is a screen protector on there.

I have it on my old iphone, ipod, my old mytouch, and my gorlfriend's sgs4g also. I place my protector the next day after I got my phone and it still feels like new but again start away from keys :/.

+1 for Best skins ever.
I got the body skin. comes with border skin for the silver edging, but that becomes unsightly and annoying, quickly. Just kept front and back on. You only really need the front, IMO.
My only concern about keeping the back on is overheating should I begin to overclock the cpu.

Last phone I had I went with a BSE, I'm probably going to go with that one now...
I just got the 3 screens I ordered for a buck each, and boy am I happy with them!
It doesn't take away from the super amoled, and it protects the entire screen, unlike the expensive one from t-mobile, which left the buttons unprotected.
It took a couple hours to install it, but it was well worth it!
If anyone is interested, search for xtreme guard on amazon.

The Realook screen protectors are excellent. 2 pack on amazon for about $11. I think they are better than the ebay ones, for the most part. Hate the zaggs and the way they feel. I don't know how anyone uses them.
Realooks are high quality and cut perfectly.
I had one on my daughter's phone and my wife grabbed it out of the dresser it was in and a screw was under than and scratched it really bad. She didn't realize there was a screen protector on and thought she ruined a 2 week old phone. I peeled off the protector and the screen was perfect. It didn't piece the protector.
I have a feeling with one of the $1 ones on ebay, the screen would have been severely damaged.
I buy the realooks for all my phones and have been happy every time.
Never had a problem with scratches, used to have vibrant, sold it now using SGS4G without a protector too. U Just have to be careful with it. Noting beats the feel of the screen itself
I've been using mine naked..managed to get some micro scratches but they don't bother me that much only one small deep scratch that i have but it's really not that bad at all.

Zagg Invisible Shield (Screen Protector)

Just found out they started to sell them. Anyone used theirs before? Hows the feel on them?

Only thing you guys might not like the "orange peel" look. I've never had a screen protector with orange peel so I'd like your input. And I don't want a screen protector from T-Mobile. Those are horrible and give the matte grainy effect.
Ha. I found Best Skins Ever is coming out with it. This is the one I had on my Samsung Vibrant and it was really nice.

I sent them a message to see when they are shipping it out.
Great review on both. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dPt2EwDGyY

+1 for best skins ever. Had it on my nexus one for a little over a year and worked great!
However, best skins ever isn't selling them yet for the G2X. Being that I couldn't wait, I went ahead and bought the ultra clear protectors from clarivue
I was going to buy one from them but there's a back order.
Yup zagg + otterbox = total package
Sn: I love the texture of the zagg protector

Is there a page listing the otterbox for g2x out?
Not yet but it definitely won't be long

I called Otterbox and unfortunatly he said they do not have plans to make case for G2x as LG never sent them sample empty case. He said LG is SLOWWWWWWWW with supplying them with there phones. He said that dependent on them getting sample then its a couple more weeks till ready for production. So dont hold our breath. UGGG
trust me this is a dual core phone an otterbox case will be made for it, it was just released so it might be may or june before we get it
Love the Zagg Invisible Shield. Will be ordering it for mine in the next few days. I've tried some of the other less flexible and 'cheaper' protectors but could never get them to install perfectly. Always had a bubble or some dust or something no matter what. The Zagg is great because you thoroughly wet the surface and the film allowing you to move it, remove it and reinstall (until it dries of course), etc.
About to order this from them...

Use coupon "PROTECT" to get 10%. What searching thru Google does. ;D
I'm using the Zagg now. It's great.
Although If you happen to get the bodyglove case for the phone it does cause the screen to push and bubble up at 4 of the snap in places on the case. As long as you don't need to take the case constantly on/off you'll be ok.
-1 for Zagg. Protects well but always needs to be wiped and is not at all smooth. Took mine off after a month.

I'm personally using the protector that came on the phone until I hear from more people that have had Gorilla Glass in real life scenarios for a long time. If it is as good as I have seen on YouTube, I might just go naked.
Had gorilla glass on my vibrant and never got a scratch. Then again, I didn't have gorilla glass on my nexus s and I didn't get any scratches. I learned how not to take care of a phone with my g1. Damn thing was in pieces eventually.

I found one way better !!!
I was always a big fan of invisible shield... Until I came upon xtreme guard and these are way better than all of them... They usually have them in stock as soon as phone is out... I ordered friday and received today... I'm bout to install it but they always look good and best of all there only $5 with shipping
Ghost armor full body protector... No case... A++ ! Had it on my hd2 and mt4g.

Before putting on a skin, I scratched my N1 even though many were claiming that as durable. I wish there was a real side by side comparison of that against the Gorilla Glass.

I had a Droid (with Gorilla Glass) from November 2009 until I got my G2x. I never use cases and am clumsy and careless. By the time I got rid of the Droid the whole phone looked like absolute crap. Except the glass, which was without a scratch. Anecdote != evidence, but take it for what it's worth.

[Q]Zagg full body shield

Has anybody used the zagg full body shield? If so any thoughts, pros/cons or maybe a pic?

Anyone?

Bueller???
I've used it on my Palm Pre and did not like it. Had orange peel effect and made my screen grippy, horrible when swiping and pinch zoom.

I will never use a Zagg product again. It was terrible on my pre.
If you want one like that try Phantomskinz. Those were way better.

to me Zagg is the worst because it is the most orange-peelish ones out of all brands, so your phone will just look like a cheap piece of plastic
Just bought one at bestbuy, they installed it for an extra $8 with the guarantee that if it wasn't perfect they would redo it, and that I could bring it back if anything went wrong with it soon, also zagg has a lifetime warranty supposedly that if it scuffs or anything you pay $3 shipping and get a new one. This is according to the best buy guy. I'm about to register it with zagg, looks great though and protects the proximity sensor and capacitive touch buttons. The one the t-mob store sold me only covered the screen, not the whole piece of glass. Also, I noticed the sensitivity is much better now, the tmo one was really thick this was comparitively thin
Edit: Just noticed it has a hole cut out for the proximity sensor and doesn't cover the front facing camera or the speaker at the top, the rest of the glass is now coverred though, and they had a video in bestbuy of someone taking a dremel to it, then peeling it off and the screen was still perfect.
Also verified that zagg.com/register is a lifetime warrant.
Zagg is over priced and leaves a bad texture. Used it on my ipod touch.
Totally agree orange peel like crazy and scratched pretty easily. Crap

I've used Zagg products for years and have never had the problems any of you seem to have had. Guess I'm lucky.
I did spring for the full body shield for the G2x with the 50% off this weekend. Definitely worth it for me.

The question I have is have you used any full body protectors from any other manufacturers? I thought the same thing about Zagg until I tried another manufacturer.

Me too. I've used Zagg for both my G1 and my NexusOne, and loved it! I once started to get the Orange peel effect on my G1 and ordered a new one and it was covered by the lifetime warranty.
How it works, you order it from the Zagg acct you purchased the original one, they send it to you. They also send an envelope to send back the old one (I just peeled it off and stuck it to some paper). If they don't receive it in, I believe, 30 days, you get charged.
Say what you will, they stand behind their product and that goes a long ways w/me. In the end though, it all comes down to preference. I also made good on their 50% off sale to get me 1 for my G2x.
I should be getting my zagg maximum coverage today. I will yell everyone my opinion on it and I have used the invsisble shield before. Fit perfect on an iPhone 4
