I need an app like the "Go to sleep" future available in CM roms in the power widget. I KNOW there are a bunch on the market, but they have a flaw: after i lock the screen with it and power the screen on by button, my wallpaper dissapears for 3-4 seconds then it comes back. Also i need a simple app that does only that (shortcut or widget, dosent really matter) and not having extra options, so the ram usage would be minimal.
The "go to sleep" future works well (no wallpaper problem, no ram usage), but i dont know how to create a shortcut on the screen for it, also is annoying to pull the notification bar all the time to push it.
Screen off and lock works perfectly for me. If you want no ram usage, go with the donated version.

i'm using Lock Screen App by Kenneth Cheng, but this isn't really good either - if u lock the screen u can't unlock it right after ....u have to wait 2-3 sec. I have tryed the Screen off and lock but it got stuck in the ram and that annoyed me. Anw, ty for the answers.
Well, I tried "Screen Off and Lock" by Katecca, "Lock Screen App" by Kenneth Cheng, "Turn Off Screen" by Marinelli.Tv. The best of them is "Turn Off Screen", although sometimes the lockscreen appear before the screen is completely off, there's no false sleep like "Screen Off and Lock" (this app always give me false sleeps). Currently, I'm using Elixir2, it has widget to turn off the screen, and the screen doesn't flicker, lockscreen doesn't re-appear, there're false sleeps, but very rare.
False sleep: the screen is turned off, but when you turn it on, the lockscreen appears for ~1 seconds and it turns off. Several pushs on power button is needed to make the lockscreen stays there to be unlocked.
yes, "Turn Off Screen" by Marinelli seems to do the job almost like the power-off button, ty !

I am running Tomal's Rom and I need to add a shorcut to the "front page" (the screen where you see the time the missed calls, battery ram rom flash and so on.
Basically I need to be able to lock the screen with one touch.
I can activate it on the "Today" list but that adds an annoying scroll bar to the right of the screen.
Any ideas ?
Thank you

PS: BTW what do I have to do to be able to turn the display on with one touch of the screen (let's say the screen turned off to save power). The Backlight settings seem to be ignored by the PDA. I mean if I check the optin "Turn on backlight when a button is pressed or the screen taped" it is not working
I just upgraded from the iPhone 4S to the Skyrocket so this is my first Android phone. One of the concerns I have is that I am noticing an inconsistency with the Screen Saver and the Lock Screen. I have no option to disable the screen saver but I do have the Lock Screen configured with a pin code. Sometimes, when I pick up the phone and press the power button, I have the pin code screen which is what I expect. Other times, when I pick up the phone and press the power button, I get the Screen Saver with the clock and I can simply flick it aside and I'm into the phone without a pin code.
The Screen Timeout is configured to "2 Minutes" and Screen Unlock Timeout is configured for "2 Minutes." Am I configuring the timeout(s) incorrectly? I don't want to ever have the Screen Saver come up, I just want the pin code Unlock screen to display.
Set it for 15 seconds. And yes you can change the "screen saver".
Haha, never mind! After reading the "Unlock Screen" timeout more carefully, it is the time after the screen goes blank! I thought it meant that in "2 Minutes" of inactivity, the lock screen would be active! Setting it to immediately and then configuring the Screen Timeout seems to have fixed it!
Good. And you can change the lockscreen wallpaper too fyi

I'm loving it already! So many options that I have control over! I just need to learn how to use them! Looks like my son's option to upgrade to the iPhone 4S is going to be used to get me the Samsung Note and I'll give him my 4S since I spent my upgrade option on this SkyRocket!!
As it currently stands, if I were to press the power button on my phone to turn on the screen, the screen turns off within 5~10 seconds if I don't unlock my phone. This is annoying if I'm checking notifications or something, because it just checks for an unlock, not user input. If I'm looking through my notifications and sliding on the screen, it'll still timeout. Is there any way to change this value?
The only option I know of is Settings > Display > Sleep, but that's once the screen's been unlocked and there's been no activity, I'm talking about the timeout directly on the lockscreen.
Ever thought about asking that in the ROM thread?

I prefer not to shimmy up the phone to reach the power button, and have it set up so a double tap on the back key turns the screen off. However, they do not shoe up on the lock screen. So I have to enter the pattern then turn the screen off. Does anyone know a mod or widget you can place on the screen in the lock screen to turn the display off?
Thanks
Viper ROM has that sort of option. I don't use Xposed, but I believe it does as well.

If you're willing to flash a custom kernel, Evolution's kernel has swipe to sleep feature (swipe right to left on the bottom of the screen to turn it off, works on lock screen.)

If you are using the stock LockScreen, double tapping anywhere on the display will turn the screen off. If you are using a replacement LS you can get an Xposed module that turns the screen off with a double tap on the status bar.

Good morning everyone,
I am looking for a widget or tweak that makes it easy to put the phone to sleep other than having to tap the status bar twice. Something I can put down below to avoid having to mess with the status bar every time I want to shut off the screen. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions! Thanks guys.
Depending on whether your launcher has gestures, you can download Screen Off & Lock.

I'm using Nova Launcher with a double tap on home screen gesture to both Sleep the phone & Hibernate apps with Greenify.

If you are talking about the knock feature, you can just leave an empty shortcut spot anywhere on your screen and double tap that spot.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I just discovered over the weekend that if I hold down the Home button, it not only shuts off my screen, but also locks the phone so that it requires my swipe pattern to access it again.

Thanks. I did it and was given several options to choose as default (Google Search, nothing, Greenify+Lock, etc). I opted for the long press to Greenify option. This is great.
