[ROM][4.1.2][CM10] BG53's Unofficial CM10 Nightly - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Well, this took me almost a full day to figure out, but I'd say it's worth it. I have compiled my first CM10 build, and BOY! It's running nice I'd say it's one of the smoothest ROMs I've ran. So far, I haven't had any flickering or anything on it, the Camera and Gallery works wonders. Bluetooth and Headphones are working, in call, streaming as well. I haven't tried tethering, so I don't know if that works, but I think it would.
I'm planning on maybe developing themes for this, or doing nightlies, if anybody is still interested in CM10. I like it because it is currently more stable than CM10.1.
I hope you guys enjoy this ROM and are able to give me input on how to expand my skill in developing
NEW UPDATE 1/29/13: Not sure if any changes happened. Sound for video recording seems alright in my opinion.

Well USAA has a Mobile site. I tend to like mobile bank sites better than the app counterparts. Wells Fargo always acted up on the Razr and TBolt, no matter if stock, AOSP, whatever. so I used the site more often. So just know there is an alternative to sticking to stock because of the app...

OP Updated with WORKING NFC Fix!

Is there any way to include a folder system in the app drawer instead of just on the home screen?

How's the video recording volume on this rom? I'm at work and can't test. I know it's been a recurring problem on CM10.

Mine works fine. In fact, I flashed the 4.2 keyboard because it's better.

I had one instance where the keyboard FCed, that happened when I tested a dirty flash. either reflash or wipe and reflash, and it should work fine. I haven't tried video recording on the ROM, but I'm going to compile a new one in a little bit, so I'll post that in a little while.

Well in case you're wondering, recording is fantastic. Very close to the volume of TW. This ROM has everything working. Also, got some nice screens of battery if anyone wants info about it.
Keep in mind my battery started at 71% when I first flashed this ROM. I can imagine a full battery would yield even better results.

BTW, a couple of things that aren't listed on the "broken" section.
1. Using GPS crashed my phone
2. The shift, function, and @ buttons don't work on the physical keyboard.

I've been using the build for a few days now. The only thing that's really driving me nuts is that when you slide out the keyboard, the video goes nuts. Otherwise, so far, it's working really well. Few bugs here and there, but nothing crazy.
According to his twitter account, @KushDeck updated this to Alpha4. You can download it here: http://t.co/A1bIFe75
Seems Camera and GPS are mostly working but a few things need to be worked out.

This doesn't work. Don't use it, use the gapps in the OP.
In addition, great work on the ROM!
I know you said don't report bugs but I'll report them anyway since you didn't include them in the OP:
#1 main issue) display corruption especially on rotation
#2 camera requires a button to turn it "on" in the app
#3 hardware keyboard doesn't work properly, namely the function key
#4 touch keyboard shows while hardware keyboard is out.
Other than that, this is pretty much a done deal.
I'm not sure if the gapps in the OP are the same as koush's but here they are if anyone wants to try them out and compare the results. Just click on the zip button on github and there ya go

I haven't tried this, but yes CM 9 has almost everything working except media encoding and decoding.
I am running the latest CM9 beta from Arcee. Data, wifi, GPS, everything works except for the camera, and video play back isn't working.
Also, I tried connecting to T-Mobile manually, though still no data.
I'm not sure how data wouldn't work if this is based off of CM9. Since it does work on there.

Really really sort of. You can't use the videocamera anymore after using and closing it. You will then get the weird distortion from cm9. After reboot it is usable again. Front camera recording doesn't work at all.
I`ve flashed it myself and camera is working great. I`ve taken 3 videos of 1 minute each and there were no problems. I was then able to watch them within gallery. That`s amazing...we are nearly there. Great job !
LE: after the fifth atempt on camera, I now started getting that wierd distorsion @yzoni mentioned, above. However, improvments have been done and shoudn`t be long until we have a complete CM10.

I recently flashed this ROM and it appears to work pretty well. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has tried it? The only issue I see so far is some apps lag a little, but the battery life appears to be adequate. Total noob here so wanted to say thanks for all you guys do. Been coming to this site for a while since it's full of great resources.

I just flashed this ROM yesterday. The only issue I had was with the headphones (it would detect my favorite ones as Beats, but then there would be no sound. Cheap phones would produce sound, but not my good ones). The dev (sun_dream) quickly offered a patch that fixed this issue so now this ROM is my "daily driver". I'm not noticing any lag, it is running very well. I haven't had a chance to ascertain battery life yet. I do enjoy the look and feel of this, ICS with Sense 4.1. Note, you can switch to Sense 4.0a if you like using the HTC Sense ST app. From what I hear, Sense 4.0a is a little less resource intensive so could give you a little bit more responsive feel. I'm not sure what you sacrifice, though.
So far the only things that don't work: Face Unlock is really buggy with this. And the Gracenote app to download album covers for the built in Music app doesn't seem to download anything. And HTC Hub never finds anything to download. Those are very minor quibbles I can live with.

You can flash it while being S-ON. All you need to do is extract the boot.img from the ZIP file. Flash the ROM as normal, then use Fastboot to flash the boot.img separately. There is a good guide on here that tells you exactly how to do it.

I finally had to go back to a stock-based Gingerbread ROM (my old standby Miktouch 0.7). This ICS Sense4 ROM just had too many little "gotchas" that made it unstable. The fix for the earphones cause it to completely crash if you try to record any sound. Everytime I tried to use an app like Soundhound or Shazam or MusixMatch, the phone would instantly reboot. I just discovered that is due to the patch that makes the earphones work.
I guess if you don't mind a portion of your phone being unusable, these ICS ROMs would be OK. For me, personally, I want all of the phone to work as it should, so I'm going back to stock ROM.
I haven't had the same experience with the headphones issue. So far my Subjekt phones have worked fine and no FC's. As far as the ROM goes the lag has seemed to have disappeared and I blocked some apps & processes using Gemini App Mgr. The Face Unlock is buggy for me as well. So far no other problems.

One other question is I think facebook sync was never working right for me before on Eclipse and I had to download a separate facebook sync app to sync my facebook apps. Is that issue fixed in the latest version of Eclipse?
I'm fairly certain all of the AOSP support it but whether its included is another story. Liquid RC9 its not included in the rom zip or gapps zip, whether this was done on purpose or not i have no idea, my guess would be that its not included because it lowers the overall size of the rom, but again that's just my opinion.
Those looking for a zip file with it, slimbeans has a download on his site for just the faceunlock, now whether this will work on other roms and/or cause any issues i have no idea, i haven't tested it because its not something ill ever see myself using, but again you can try it if you'd like. You can download it directly from slimbeans site from this link

Awesome! Thanks I might try this because I just flashed to Eclipse and it looks like the Facebook contact syncing still doesn't work and also I like the keyboard that is used by LiquidSmooth ROM a lot better as it includes things like ?, ., etc. on the first keyboard where you can long hold a key to get the punctuations. I do like the fact that LED is working on Eclipse though as it does not seem to be working on Liquid.

There is an app in the play store that does face unlock, it works pretty well.
