Hey all,
I've tried all of the keyboards on the play store (at least the free ones) and the only one that is good enough is Slide it but both the free and paid stop working after few hours. I also tried the stock keyboard and it's even better. So my request is if anyone has an apk or even the stock rom with Hebrew keyboard please share XD
Thanks, Itamar.

Hi,
I'm using the paid Slide it for long time now even before my ONE S.
It never stuck on me...

A friend of mine just got an inspire and is wondering how to get swype on his stock inspire.
He needs to sign up for it and they will send him a link to download it

Either root it or side load it. AT&T blocks all non market apps from being installed. Swype on my inspire was buggy anyway, so I uninstalled it.
Get SlideIT. It trumps Swype in IMHO. SlideIT was the first to be released, though some think it's the other way around and SlideIT is a knock-off from Swype. I prefer SlideIT for a number of reasons, but mainly because you can add words to the dictionary and do a spell check on the fly. Plus, with the new release of SlideIT's 3.2, you can adjust the size (dimension) of the keyboard. That is a huge plus. Next, they are working on skins, so they say.
Both are very accurate, both do the same exact thing, they just do auto-correction and spell check (after you are done texting and want to go back to correct misspelled words the app couldn't predict) in a slightly different way.
I recently side-loaded Shapewriter, and it is by far the most accurate of all, however the keyboard is terrible looking. It's just an old-school looking keyboard...and not to mention it is no longer in the market, and I don't think the developers are working on the app any longer. I actually think that Shapewriter was the first to introduce the trace technology (late 90's).
Look in the app section here on xda, there are many alternatives for input

Hello all,
Is their a better keyboard for this phone? I really dont like the ones it comes with. Also what about the spell checker? Is that part of the keyboard program?
What ones are you using?
Thanks

Once you go Swype, you never go back.
If you don't like Swype style, try the Gingerbread keyboard on the Market.
Smart keyboard

I've always liked the Gingerbread kb! But, Smart is also cool...
I only use swype when I only have 1 hand available, but I mainly use gingerbread keyboard pro from market cause I can make the spacebar super big on it (I normally miss it when it's small lol)

Is there a keyboard where you could turn the phone sideway and it shows you the keyboard as well as the screen? I don't like how it only shows you the keyboard.

Better Keyboard 8. I previously used it with the I/O skin & it could splitscreen.
Smart Keyboard FTW.

I tried all the rest, used Swype for a year, then switched to SwiftKey. Best keyboard hands down. You won't regret it. Free beta on the market.

For me and for now I use the flext9, which is powered by dragon. But I already paid for it a while ago. But I suggest use what others have already said. Try the beta swype for yourself and see if you like it. I have used swype and would get pissed at it when it got buggy...yes I know its a beta , but I would go to another kb. The GB kb is great for a plain jane kb, also, swiftkey X beta works well too.
If I were you, I would try all the free versions of kbs, starting with the most popular to what you like and narrow it down from there.
Smart Keyboard Pro. I've had it since my Nexus one days, and it's still the best.
Thanks everyone, I will check them all out after work today.
I wouldnt mind also trying a new browser, any suggestions? I know a little bit of whats out there but still learing.
Thanks again everyone.
only swype ... still best //
SwiftKey is the nuts. I think it's made from actual magic

You would think hTC stock keyboard would have arrows for this mighty screen
Swype FTW I never had a keyboard where I could type that fast.

ive heard a lot of good stuff about swift but i feel like my fingers r to fat for it so i make mad mistakes and i theres no option to turn auto-capitalization off?
SwiftKey is very good at predicting text even with fat fingers
As far as the browser goes, I prefer opera.

Swiftkey X has the option to add arrows in the kb. FTW!
Simple question, is there any way to get the original sense
No, sense components don't work on aosp ROM's due to lake of framework components... Just download a 3rd party keyboard from the play store. SwiftKey is an excellent alternative or swype if you like trace typing!

Look at the ICS and JB keyboards that VLLLW developed. You can find them in Google Play. I currently use the JB keyboard and I loooove it. Another keyboard you can try out is the GOkeyboard, also found in Google Play. I've had some lag issues with the GOkeyboard though. However, that was also when I didn't manage my device well at all.

Never liked go keyboard myself. I like better keyboard from Amazon app store. Also perfect keyboard from play store is good too. Both will cost a couple dollars, but better keyboard has followed me from 2 phones and about 50 ROMs. The themes for them are gold too.

SwiftKey!
Hackers Keyboard from the Play store.
Free and great for tty and such. Full 5 rows in landscape mode. Ctrl, arrows, etc.
Also... CM 10 Jelly is faster than any stock ROM on the Infuse. Just awesome. The new JellyBean 4.2 has a great swipe feature. Solid...

Hackers keyboard, was so happy when I found this a must have for SSH and VDP.
For my phone I've always liked the swype that came with it, seems to be the smoothest and most accurate IMO
Hi everybody, i just bought a n5 and before n5 i use evo 3d and its keyboard awesome i think im very usual to it. can anybody port htc ime for nexus 5 pls thank you now (sorry for bad english)
This will be pretty difficult because as far as I know the HTC Keyboard relies on some Libaries from HTC Sense which is not open source. So you would have to port these Libs to Stock Android which is difficult without the source code. I had an Evo 3D too and I hated that Keyboard. Try some other Play Store Keyboards (I am using Swiftkey for example). There is a Sense 6 Rom in Development right now (NexSense), but it is a very early alpha with many functions not working.
I think there are some HTC like Keyboards in the playstore too.
EDIT: You can try this port if you want (don't know if it works): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844512
Yeah that's right. On the desire, the HTC ime required nothing but from around the time of the sensation, it became framework dependant. I missed the HTC ime so much on my S3, I tried every keyboard on play to find one close to it. Smart keyboard was the closest I found and used it on my n5 too up to about a week ago. The prediction isn't great and it wore me down after about a year but it's worth a try
