Ive been using my s3 for about 40 minutes on CM10. Plugged into a dual usb charger connected to not ip port, which in the past i have used fine. I have lost 5% battery in this time. Current widget doesn't work yet with S3. Suggestions?
Edit - The first time I got the phone after a full charge and discharge, while plugged into stock charger and before anything root, the same problem happened.

From what I heard, the charger can't charge the phone fast enough when you are using it thus the losing charge while plugging in. If you are talking about losing percentage right after you disconnect the phone from the charger, that is a feature, I do not know at the top of my head why it does it.
If charging through USB port (and many car chargers) you're capped at 500mA vs 700+ for wall chargers. You can install a kernel that supports fast charging and you will get 700mA through USB.

I'm having the same issue whether charging from usb or a power outlet. Charges for a bit initially, then drains. Happens with different cords, too. I'll pick it up and it will feel warm, see that the battery is lower than when I plugged it in, then put it down. Then it cools off and starts charging again. Any ideas?
Same here except
i have the same issue, i had stock Touchwiz and suddenly the phone started to discharge while on charging outlet, tried different chargers, outlets, different ports, etc. still wouldnt work, i even deleted several applications and turned off several phone functions, etc. still nothing, then i rooted to CM10.1 and the same issue still presists, the phone charges a bit then discharges weather i use it or not. the only solution to charge it, it seems to be by turning off the phone. i think it has to do with the usb port on the phone as i even had the battery changed and it still would discharge while on a charger.
S3 Battery Decreasing while charging SOLVED !!
Hey i have 100% Solution of this with this you will your battery life !
i got same problem too but i solved now i'm happy
this is so easy , for all samsung phones and android phones !
Just install battery doctor (cheetah Software) from play store
optimize your phone and then charge
your phone will charge fastly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with this your battery life will also increased !!
Sometimes (no pattern) the note charges very very slowly: in 4 hours this morning, for example, has increased of only 15%.
You can tell cos the charger is not hot.
Is it a charger/cable/connector problem?
Do you see a little red "X" over the battery when this happens? i believe unless you use one of the Samsung chargers it won't charge at full speed but will still trickle charge slowly. I've also found that even with the Samsung charger when I used a really long USB cord I wasn't getting full speed charging, so a long or bad cord can be an issue.

No red X, original cable and charger... To solve I have to unplug e replug couple of times
Same here
When I connect the Note 10.1 to my Computer or last time I tried to connect to car charger it gives a red cross. Why does this keep happening ??
My note 10.1 just started charging slowly noticeably.
I used an app called Galaxy Charging Current, and sure enough, the status shows that it is charging at 1amp, instead of the nominal 2amps.
This is on the original charger and cable.
I recommend everyone to check out the app called Galaxy Charging Current.

My GT-N8000 from original ICS 4.0.4 until now using XXCMI2 DBT Deodexed sometimes too long for charging ( charge always at power off mode ). sometimes 5-6 hours and it still not full 100%. It'll be full 100% if unplug and replug again and wait at least 1 or 2 hours. after long time experiment, My conclusion when charge at power off from 35% or below, It will be 5-6 hours charge and not full but charge at 60% power off mode charge it will be full 100% charged just 2-3 hours. that's very strange. at power on never got this problem, always 100% full.
All accessories, charger and cable data were original.
Any Opinion???
Thanks

could be the ROM you are using. Did this happen when you were stock? I know on my HTC one there were a few roms that I would have to plug the USB in three of four times just to get it to work correctly. Then I changed roms and BOOM works perfect again.
@Tiltmfc
For Me that happen on stock ROM too, coz when I purchase this N8000 at special price on 1st day launch in Indonesia, I must wait until root feature available at least 2-3 month and I always charge at OFF condition and almost rare at ON mode. at official ICS at OFF always like this, real real long to be fully charged when start charge at 30% and Don't know when reach 100% if I don't unplug the charger cable at least once.

I had the same problem previously. Solved by getting a new charger (whole set including the cable)! One hour charging = >15% increase
Cool
Wow Cool, maybe charger problem. For Now I've never charge my N8000 below 60% at OFF Mode. always taking 3 hours charging time to 100%.
Thanks for sharing.
Yep I'd agree that it sounds like your charger or wire is on its way out. I had a similar issue with my S3, changed charger - problem fixed
Samsung 10.1 Note N8000 charging slow
I have one from early 2013. The issue is that during the charging process, sediments get deposited both on the plug and the socket. This over a period of time reduces the contact between male and female parts contributing to slow charging.
In a post, some one mentioned that his friends charger worked on his tablet and his charger did the job for his friend. Some one was able to fix the issue with a new charger. The fact is, any change that reduces the sedimentary issue thus enhancing contact will work better.
I took an obsolete tooth brush cleaned the plug and then held the phone's socket down while cleaning that as well. Vila, my charging speed has improved.
Samsung had a proprietary cable for 2013 and later they replaced it with micro USB in 2014. The sediment issue is not as pronounced as in other mobiles which use different cable type. In N8000, the current in DC o/p is also high at 2A which may be causing this problem.
Hi I just bought a used galaxy note 10.1
it did not come with a usb wall charger
after 7 hours of charging
a search said its my usb charger
I was wounding if it is normal for this to take over 24 hours from 0% battery on a charger like this
that only gives 0.5 A
or am I doing damage to my battery by leaving on charge for longer than 24 hours
its like a incredibly slow trickle charge
right now its almost full it claims but im not sure if it will ever be full at this rate
I thought maybe 24 hours but now its 1 hour past 24
I was trying to (calibrate the battery )
so I let it die to 0%
I turned the device on half way though charging
noticed it had an x though the batter so I freaked out and tryed plugging and unplugging it like 10 times
I was wounding how bad that might be for the memory of my battery to do something like that
because I unplugged it before it got to 100% when i was attempting to calibrate it
Im not sure how sensitive these batteries are
but your input would be much appreciated
You could use an off brand iPad charger with your USB cable to help it charge faster your typical phone charger will only give off 0.5 ma, so look for one for a tablet

I know that but I was wondering if leaving it plugged in will it be bad for my battery at all
to leave it plugged in now approaching 28 hours
the charging logo on the screen appears to have approximately 75% charge so far
I want it to get to 100%
should I unplug it if its not charged in 6-8 more hours
im mainly wondering if it is even possible to fully charge to 100%
on a old ipod usb charger or not

You are not harming your device. The only negative is that it will take longer to charge. The red is normal when not using either the correct type charging block or usb cable, it is not harming your tablet.
I would just do what some of the other posters have suggested, getting a new charger made for a tablet, just because waiting that long for it to charge is not practical.

SGN 10.1 GT-N80XX series need a specifically designed charger for them.
One thing for sure, it need to provide 2.1 A, 5 V & most phone charger only supply around 0.5 - 1 A.
Most 3rd party charger also only supply around 0.5 - 1 A.
The other is the data pin(s) & it quite different with Apple's charger.
I've tried several 3rd party chargers & Apple chargers (iPod,iPhone & iPad) & most of it unable to charge my N8000.
You need to buy an original charger for your device.
Or you can try buying 3rd Party N80XX charger on eBay from a reputable seller.
That being said, you also need an original cable to be used with the original charger.
Most 3rd party cable can only supply 0.5 A & some 3rd party charger can only be used using specific 3rd party cable.
A long 3rd party cable (10 ft / 3 m) usually can only supply around 1 A.
For example :
I have a Powerbank that uses its own cable to charge at 2.1A rate, but I can't use my own original cable with it
But my original cable is fine & I uses it to charge using my original wall charger.
It takes around 4-5 hours from 4% to 100% (with WiFi ON & all sync on)
0.5 A can't charge your device while in Power ON condition.
To charge at 0.5 A rate you have to turn OFF your device & it will take a long time to get 100%
(N80XX series have a 7000mAh battery so you can calculate how long).
NOTE:
The battery with red cross icon means that the charger/cable isn't designed for N80XX (usually the data pin settings is mismatching the original design), but it will still charge your device at a very low amperage (lower than 0.5A) to prevent damage for using inappropriate charger.

My S6 is 2 weeks old today and I noticed that fast charging (using adaptive charger I got in the box) has stopped working
Yesterday at work I put my phone on charge and went back to it after 20mins and noticed it had stopped charging.
I thought maybe it the 2pin plug point so I changed plug points and it starts charging.
Come back later and it stopped charging.
Changed plug point again and the same thing happened.
Getting irritated I put it on my wireless charge mat instead.
Today I decided to test the charger and low and behold it's now working but it's charging at the normal rate.
I tested this by using my old S4 charger and I got the same time to full message.
Before when I plugged in my adaptive charger it said fast charging now it just says "Cable charging"
Do you guys think it's my phone or my adaptive charger?
I don't have another adaptive fast charger to test with
EDIT: I was running XtreStoLite ROM, I used ODin and reloaded the latest AOD8 Vodafone SA firmware but still fast charging isn't working.
I'd say it's the charger. There have been instances of them shorting. The last Note 4 I had did the same thing.
Perhaps a silly question, but am I right in thinking that the fast charging only works when the battery is below 20% or so? I tried plugging mine in yesterday when at 40% charge and it just said 'cable charging' (using the out-the-box charger and cable)

Geez boet, how much does an S6 go for in SA?
I am having the same problem with my S6.
The fast charge doesn't work afree a week.
Last night I plugged in @ midnight with the original charger and cable at 5% and all apps shut down
It said "charging" and not "fast charging".
530am....only 97%.
This is pretty frustrating. It seems to have stopped in the last couple days.
Thoughts?
If you connect the USB cable to your PC and it detects your phone, it's proof that it's the adaptive charger. It happened to me on my Note 4, and I had it replaced with the warranty. Problem solved. Try it and you won't have any more problems. Garanteed!

Thanks - have now realised that I had to push the USB cable extra hard into the charger - that switched it from showing 'charging' to 'fast charging'

Oddly...when I connect it to my computer...it charges (slowly of course).
But the computer never detects it.
Update
@Biggenz the S6 32gig is around the R9000 mark
@BoondckSaint try another Adaptive Fast Charger, apparently even the Qualcomm ones work too. If it still doesn't fast charge take it into SCC.
@alanjrobertson my problem started out like that, I'd have to unplug and re-plug the cable in then it would work. Now more often than not it just doesn't Fast Charge
So, I took my phone in to Samsung Customer Care and after trying numerous chargers my S6 would just say "Cable Charging" and never show "Fast Charger Connected" in the notification bar.
They tested my charger on another S6 and S6 Edge and they both worked fine and Fast charge was working. Had the correct "Fast Charger Connected" in the notification bar too.
I had to leave my S6 there and they will repair it. The technician said it's either the USB connector is faulty or the mainboard needs replacing.
I'm abit disappointed now as my s6 is only 2 weeks old and it's already had to be booked in for repairs.
Hopefully no such issues for me - it seemed to be very much linked to the USB plug at the charger end not being the whole way in but will be keeping a close eye on it!

Have you tried depleting battery all the way down until S6 goes off by it self? Then charge it while is off all the way to 100% or leave it all night. Then see difference. Also one hint which is not quite related to your problem, but just for people to know. Fast Charging is NOT working from 50% and up to 100%. This is normal. So Fast Charge works from 0%-50%,NOT ABOVE!

The Samsung Care Center replaced the USB port on my phone and its fast charging again perfectly. Wasn't anything to do with the battery thankfully.
Before replacing the USB port the phone always showed "Cable charging" whenever it was plugged into the fast charger.
Now it shows Fast Charging in the notification area.

Hello,
I have had this tabled for a while and it was always charging extremely slowly but I never took it out of the house so it wasn't a bid deal for me. However I have given it to my mother and she uses it in other ways. Anyways, the note 10.1 is the slowest charging device I have ever seen. It takes probably 48h-72h to charge it completely. I am using the original cable and power brick, I have tried ALL the outlets in my house, I have tried using the computer, I have tried using another cable (probably like 5 different ones) and other bricks (from iPads, my note 5, etc) and nothing is working. I have seen other posts regarding slow charging but none of them solve my problem.
Thank you
Thats is not normal .
I would factory reset and flash a stock rom .
Swap battery or take to a service centre .

"probably"?
You can't troubleshoot perceptions and guesses. How long does it actually take--repeatably--to charge from what percentage to what percentage? (i.e. "Went to bed, battery was at 40%, charged overnight for 7 hours and battery was at 60%.")
There are apps to check charging current (Ampere being one of them).
The fastest charge you can get is with the OEM charger in an outlet, not a PC.
Understand that this is a 7,000mAh battery without any quick charging applied to it.
Additionally, if you are using the device whilst charging it, you aren't really charging it since the drain is about the same as the charge; you'll effectively neither charge nor discharge.
Finally, check for battery-draining apps; you might not have a charging problem but an app-drain problem.

The time varies, but it is between 2 and 3 days to charge from 0, never less.
I do use the OEM charger and cable and an outlet.
I do understand that but 2 days seems a bit of a stretch, don't you think?
I am definitely not using it while charging, because it's impossible. It just doesn't charge fast enough to be able to use it. It drains quicker than it charges.
I highly doubt that, I only have YouTube and Chrome installed on it.
Above 6 hours with stock rom and charger is abnormal .
Usual replies .
One cable
Two charger
Three battery or connections .
Four USB port
Five motherboard .

Yeah, 2 days isn't right. It also shouldn't be discharging faster than charging, especially with the OEM charger.
I leave mine plugged into my PC (only 500mA max current) with the screen on (about medium brightness, mostly black screen, which is most power-friendly for OLED) using LectureNotes all day and it will neither charge nor discharge (technically, it's charging at the same rate it is discharging); the percentage doesn't move.
What does Ampere report?
Do you have another charger you could try? any 5V and at least 2A would work.
Also, ensure your cable isn't intermittently open (a break in the cable, temporarily disconnecting the charger).
If the cable and charger are good, then the battery would be the next likely culprit, followed by the charging circuit.
Finally, ensure heat isn't an issue (is it in a case? remove it).
Mine was messed up but I concluded it was the port and cable. I got a new cable and then replaced the charging port and viola. Charge time went from 8 hours back to the usual 3-4
