[Q] GT-N8010 Jelly Bean/4.1.1 cifs.ko - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I updated (Jelly Bean/4.1.1) recently my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) and would like to integrate a Windows network folder now. This means I need a "cifs.ko" file. Unfortunately I could not find that for my tablet with this version. Can someone help me?
Thank you in advance!

I'm interested too. So if anyone can help, there's now at least two people who'd be really thankful.

Does no one can help us here?

I suspect not since the request was very specific (CIFS.KO)
I for one have had a lot of success using AndSMB as a samba client
You can find it here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lysesoft.andsmb

Im about to build a custom rom and therefore i compiled the 4.1.1 kernel with cifs.ko and md4.ko myself.
It is build with the Darkman Stock Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean XXBLK9 as a base http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925720
I also changed the battery logo to a circle percentage one.
Its not ready yet, but cifs manager works fine. If you want to use it, you have to insert at path to cifs.ko "/lib/modules/md4.ko:/lib/modules/cifs.ko" and then it should work.

:fingers-crossed:
Hi I am new to this forum so hope I have finally got this in the right place. I have a rooted samsung s2 mobile which I have flashe dthe ICS 4.0.4 I am interested in learning more about Kernels, which ones can I use, how do I know which each one does and how do I understand the language of the Kernel. You should be able to find several kernels suitable for your SGS2 right here (XDA). Search for 'kernel collection sgs2' on google. The 3rd link from the top should be useful and have current ICS kernels (which are compatible with your device).
To name just a few:
N.e.a.k.
Siyah
CF-Root
Phenomenal
Make sure that, whatever kernel you decide to try, it's compatible with your ROM (in your case ICS 4.0.4).
best kernel for galaxy s3
Hi Guys,
can someone recommend me a good kernel for SGS3 based on JB?
Thx

[JB] tun.ko request

hello,
to connect to Wifi at my university I need to connect to a VPN ....
My problem is that I need tun.ko file that I can not find for JB.
The firmware of my phone is the Codename Revolution 3.6.6 with Kernel.
Sorry for my bad English, but I used Google Translate.
Thank you!
Probably there is no way to connect to a VPN using a JB rom, since we cannot have the 3.0 kernel, these problem must be taken into accounts..
I suggest to change rom, such as a GB based rom..
Cheers
Tun.ko
+1
Also as some of us are addicted to ICS or JB, thanks to dhiru, GB feels bad when compared to these.

[Q] multiple apps on screen for tf300

Hi there
Is any dev working on this?
The sg note2 is able to do this, so i say rewrite that rom and make it compatible for tf300 :silly:
Or use original rom and fix the framework thingy lol
I know there is an cornerstone version of cyanogenmod 9 that is able to do this, only it doesn't work for me because i'm on jb allready.
Would be great if the tf300t is able to do this.
Thanks

[Q] Help finding a rom that comes with pdroid

Hello, I just rooted my Samsung galaxy note 10.1 gt-8013 running jelly bean. for the first time a few days ago. It was the first time I rooted anything. The reason I wanted to root it was pdroid. I have installed 3 or 4 different roms on it trying to get pdroid to work on them with no luck. I have also used the auto patcher like it says to. The tablet says it's installed, and have ran the auto patcher multiple times on each rom. When I look for it in the market it still won't show up. So I'm starting to get a little frustrated because I'm not sure if I'm just not using the auto patcher correctly or if it's just does not work on my table. If anyone knows of a rom that comes with pdroid with it. Or if anyone can point me to a rom and has the patch for pdroid. Any help would be appreciated.

I too hope a dev will one day integrate pdroid, on a multiwindow capable rom, until cm integrates this feature, i guess that means stock roms for now.......either integrate, or build their rom in such a way that is compatible with a pdroid patch .
Over on the official thread, looks like the dev has added stock compatibility, but i suspect its for specific stock roms, could be wrong

I think it was for very specific devices, if i got the gist of it right, i think a dev needs to implement it into a rom specifically for our note 10's
yes,but i've no knowlegde at all for doing this. i was hoping you found something.

I found out something similar to pdroid... it's called XPrivacy and runs on top of the Xposed framework. it needs root but it's pretty straight foward to install and use. it also works for pratically any rom including stock.
you can find the installation/user guide on github https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacy
I'm not 100% sure but there's an article on this on android police. it works like a charm for me (jb 4.1.2 on stock)
hope you find it usefull like i did!!

[q] gt-s7500t

Hello friends! I need your wise words to clarify my doubts about this particular phone.
received a gift of a gt-s7500t but the android version 2.3 and I do not like putting on ics (android 4.0 at least) and in different forums I have not found answer.
if I read how to be root and install some recovery to the device and the only thing that bothers me is the OS
I found a post looking to backup the boot.img but ... that boot.img is only compatible with GB? is there any other way to have ICS or JB on this device?
in advance, thanks for the help.
using google translator. greetings from Venezuela
recently after a long time GT-S7500L varient users got CM10.1 jellybean for their device.
For your version there is no specific JB / GB rom yet
(unless you can use GB rom by replacing kernel thing, tricky one)
but, yup try to collect more users from your verient so then someone come up with custom rom for you too...
