Hi everyone! I'm using the official Indian ICS with Ardatdat's kernel v4.2 beta 6 1Ghz & I've been facing some problems lately.. I used ICS without any custom kernel for a week & it was working perfectly! Since I've flashed this kernel, my phone blacks out, and becomes unusable. The only solution is to remove the battery.
Now since things worked perfectly for me in the stock kernel, I would request anyone to please create a customized CWM flashable version of the Indian stock kernel with the eMMC brickbug disabled and nothing else.. I'd be really thankful to anyone who helps!
Ardatats 4.0 kernal is a basic kernel in which emmc brick bug is disabled
I wld req u to first wipe cache from cwm n den chk d diff

Try ardatdat's V4. It has nothing changed, but the brickbug.

The app just stops responding.
And touch the lock button and pooofff!!! You cannot get back.

Even Vikesh had this problem.. Also one other member F3nix had the same problem.. This is not cool! I thought flashing ardatdat's kernel would be a good option since the eMMC bug is around.. But now I think that I should have stayed on stock! :'(
Edit: [Solved]. Was having problems with the XDA app and Saavn whenever i used the search option or posted anything.
Not happening after clearing cache and dalviks cache again
Thanks

Buddy it will get solved.
Is this the Problem that happens.:
App hangs in the middle of something or at times the touch becomes unresponsive.??? Then press the power button (a solution of such things in GB) , the device blacks out??
UGH it was frustrating a while back..now okay
Still testing..XDA app working fine..3 posts no issues.
The first reply had this problem

I have also experienced this issue. Happens with many apps, especially those requiring root access. I think it is just a simple deadlock (which cannot be recovered), although I didn't look into it. Push the power button for 7 or 8 seconds to do a hard reboot. No need to remove battery.
I just did wipe data/factory reset through cwm and now the phone seems to be fine.. Lets see.. Still exploring..

I'm on ardatdat's kernel, but haven't faced this issue yet.:fingers-crossed: Will keep checking. But I noticed one thing, when I open the superuser app, I'm not able to update the su binary. Nothing happens when I press "tap to check for updates" in the info tab of the app. Anyone facing similar issues. On GB it was working perfectly, I don't know what the issue is.
EDIT: I fiddled with the su package and found out that the problem is not ardatdat kernel but the 3.2RC3 superuser update. So if some one is facing the above issue, I would recommend flashing the latest stable su release that is 3.1.3 and then flash ardatdat kernel. Ardatdat has tweaked the kernel to not install su, if su is already installed.

Makes sense to me now.. I just flashed the su 3.1.3 package & reflashed the kernel. no change.. the su is still 3.2.. am I not doing it right?
But can you please tell me the procedure to do so? As in will i have to relash the stock ics & then install su and then flash ardatdat's kernel?
Or is there a different way to do so?

Yes. but don't worry, u r not going to wipe anything while being on stock kernel. U r just flashing the su package through CWM and then u can falsh ardatdat kernel. Later u can wipe if u want to.

Caution:
When you are running ICS on you mobile do not downgrade directly to GB using ODIN, if you flash any GB ROM (Stock/Custom) using ODIN your mobile will be bricked.
Live example is myself i have bricked my mobile by do this.
TO avoid this first you restore previous backup using CWM and then flash what ever you want using ODIN.
Even Unbrick your Galaxy R. 2. Downgrade bootloader to v2.0 guide wont help you, I have followed it but no use I have successively flashed stock rom by using this method but still no luck ..
I've created this thread to help all our users who are running ICS, Sorry I've haven't see that one more thread is there for this if you think its duplicate please ask Justin to delete it..
Thanks! Have you managed to un-brick your machine?
Actually, flashing thru odin is Samsung things and it will increase the counter. So, almost every time, I will customize the ROM to flash thru normal CWM flash zip process. At least, I am just 'copying' files to /system/ and all operations are controlled by the updater-script

Yes Ardatdat. I do the same thing. For all the Stock ROMs which i flash via odin, i used to make CWM package. I used to do that so that always i dont have to depend on my PC. Not for the baseband, But atleast for the PDA and CSC part.

Thx for the info buddy. Like to know once thing. When u tried to downgrade to GB via odin, what was ur ICS system info. Is it rooted.? Deodexed? Rooted Kernel? Because I feel Kernel is the problem here. The Kernel that came with this ICS is not a safest one. Ardatdat can speak more about it.

First of all i would like to tell you that i am a newbie
I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S LCD (GT-I9003) Having infor as follows --
Firmware Version :2.3.6
Baseband Version:I9003DDLE1
Kernel Version:[email protected]#1
Build Number:GINGERBREAD.DDLF2
I followed the below guide
androidadvices-com/root-samsung-galaxy-sl-i9003-gingerbread-ddkp3-firmware/ (please replace '-' with dot)
Now after rooting my wifi is not working when i switch it on its shows error
To check whether my phone is properly rooted or not (as this my first experience) i used the app "root check basic" which says "Sorry, this device does not have proper root access" .
Ultimately in order to run my wifi back i reset my phone and wiped data but still the wifi is not working !
Any help would be much appreciated !
Thanks for Reading !

dude. flashing from normal GB to value pack firmware will have wifi error if you rooted with old cfroot kernel. as current only bam kernel is using the value pack source code. so bam kernel is the one.

Hello,
Recently I've been facing SOD on my Tab, and I read somewhere here on xda, that it's sometimes a modem problem.
So I was thinking of changing the modem/baseband firmware only.
Is that possible and how?
I know officially there is only ICS for the Tab, and I'm currently running PA v2.50; JB.
Thanks all!

There is a thread discussiong wifi-dropping problems including possible solutions to flash another roms baseband if I understand it right. You might thus have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754937
Sorry forgot to mention it's a P6800. Well, I'm not having issues with my WiFi dropping, I'm having sleep of deaths. Meaning the Tab would sleep and pushing the power button will not wake it up, I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a reboot.

Well, maybe... I don't know
Any help? Problem is that I'm facing the same problem since stock ICS, and already tried a few custom ROMs, ending up with JellyBean now.
One thing to note is that I could limit down the rate of SOD's when I turn auto-brightness off before getting the device to sleep.

Your problem can have a multitude of causes.
However to answer your initial question :
You can fash whatever baseband you like using PC or Mobile odin.
Just download and flash an apropriate modem.bin for your P6800
I would start by fladhing stock HC rom and then see if the problem persists on HC.
Oh and while you are rooted (i suppose), download the emmc brick bug test app from playstore to check your internal memory.
FYR. the baseband is the modem.bin inside the stock rom.
It can be replaced to your p6800 via Odin or Mobile Odin. I have extracted a few modem from different stock roms. P6800XXLA1, P6800XXPLA3, P6800XXPLW and P6800DXLP7. send me your e-mail if you want them.
For the Paranoid rom, I'm using my own build of v2.55, wifi and gps(I got 9 sat.) works fine for my p6800.
I think Androguide's 2.55 will come soon and solve you problem.
Thanks all for your input .. I've flashed another modem.bin and haven't faced SOD's.
Note however that I turn Auto brightness and WiFi off every time I let the Tab go to sleep.
I'll wait for PA 2.55 and see how things go.

How is it broken? And sk8's recovery can flash 4.2 roms correctly that was one of the first questions he was asked in his 4.2 compile thread.

This has been resolved in the Nibbles thread.
Recovery was not the problem. There's a bug in the installation process within Nibbles for the Base Install. Custom installation works fine. Check my thread for details.
