[Q] Skyrocket Shutting off - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I have a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket running 4.0.4. I was wondering if anybody else is having issues with it shutting down and coming back on, on it's own? It has been doing this several times a day for several days not.

Nope. Know one has ever heard of it.

[Q] why are there threads for phone that aren't out yet?

Just wondering but why are there like 3 threads for phones that aren't even out yet in the US yet some phones don't have anything for weeks after release date?
ex. Motorola Bionic doesn't come out for another few months and it has a thread with multiple discussions in it, yet the Thrill (optimus 3D) has been out for almost a week, didn't have a thread started for 2 days after release date, and there isn't anything really in there but three discussions.?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Developers can get phones early, could be one reason as to why this is. Also, they may just be prepping the forum for when they are released just in case if they cant do it when the phone actually comes out, the thread wont be put on late. Its better to be early then late.
T/u that makes enough sense....it seems att is too proprietary because their devices almost always seem to have late threads

It depends upon the magnitude of speculation a device receives. If you know what I'm talking about, Nexus Prime, SGSII.
On a side note, why don't you start with such a thread?
Well the reason that there was a thread for the Bionic was because it was originally supposed to come out around the same time as the Atrix was released so a section was put up for it around that time, but because it was scrapped and redesigned, the section just sat there.

The knowledge to root/hack a blessing or curse?

So a couple of months ago I purchased my first android phone (my nexus) to specifically root and flash. I tried many roms and have had a jolly good time here at xda.
Now here is the small dilemma that I'm facing with all this new found knowledge of rooting phones. Ever since I rooted my gfs inc2, she goes around telling everyone that her bf(me) is the one to call for smartphone tech.
Yesterday I just rooted and flashed miui on her coworkers Droid 2 global. Btw that phone was a ***** to work on, I had to go to read like 5 different forums to get the corrects steps to flash gb roms.
And now just today my gf is asking me if I could jailbreak her brothers new iPhone 4.
Yeah I'm in no way mad about people asking me for help but I guess I'm now the phone guru that everyone relies on. I do enjoy working on different phones, and flashing roms are always fun.
I'm wondering if anyone else on xda has turned into the go-to-guy for smart phone related tech?

In the same boat... Ask for money and see how quickly the people will start to disappear haha.

Yes.
I have been in this position. Mostly due to my root and rom changing need. Always people asking me to jailbreak their iphone/ipod (Easy if you ask on google, aye?) Currently I am on ICS(Android 4.0) on Samsung Galaxy S2.
Thanks for your time.

[Q] SGS2 or Galaxy Nexus?

I'm upgrading my phone soon, and i'm pretty much down to the T-Mobile Galaxy S II or waiting for the Galaxy Nexus.
I'm kind of tired of waiting for Google to release it in the US. And even when it does, it's rumored to be exclusive on Verizon at first so if that's true that could suck.
I really like the Galaxy S II. but have a couple of questions about it.
1. With the Galaxy S II being released so late in the US, is it possible that a Galaxy S III could be coming within the next couple of months and would it be worth it to get the Galaxy S II right now?
2. As for development, are more ROMs expected to come out for this? This probably can't be determined because I guess that mainly has to do with developers wanting to come to this phone. I'm just used to having a lot of ROM choices on my MyTouch 4G and HD2. But even the myTouch 4G took a couple of months before a lot of ROMs starting coming out for it. I probably just answered my own question, but oh well.
Thanks
Edit:
this got moved to the XDA General forum...? thought I put it in the correct place, but not gonna mess with mods lol.
Within a month or two you will see a big influx of ROM's. T-Mobile phones are always heavily developed. And with Cyanogen 9 dropping within 2 months that is when the development will pick up. Alot of devs like to build using their code.
you're right. I've noticed T-Mobile phones tend to be the best when it comes to the developer communities. I mainly want the Galaxy Nexus for Ice Cream Sandwich. But Samsung said it will get an official update and it will probably be ported eventually anyway.
Thanks

[Q] Galaxy note failed on Kies

Hello XDA,
I could not find a similar problem so I created a new thread.
Last night I was finally able to update my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 VIA Kies from 2.3.6 to 4.0.0 on my Macbook Pro. Exciting!
Then it happened, Kies suggested that I update the firmware on my device. I did, the download froze, Kies froze, the joy was gone.
I tried countless times to reconnect my device and start over but the Note would not connect VIA Kies. It just said connecting over and over. After spending much time I gave up and went to bed having put my phone on charge.
3 hours after I woke up my phone was fully charged. (STILL) Then it was not, now my phone is constantly going from charge (when its not even plugged in) to not charged. Dead, then fully powered. It continues to spam me the whole time with my batteries current state.
Its an international model in the US so theres no support.
How can I fix it? Hard Reset? Throw to the wall? Paperweight? Or XDA Magic?
If you ask this in the device specific forum, you will get a more accurate and helpful answer...

How can I do that?
Most importantly, I am posting somewhere public in regards to questions that other people have posted problems with devices and received positive or informative feedback.
Is this not the proper place? Sorry I am new.
I never said this isn't the proper place...you will receive help here, but most of them will be generic in nature...
If you ask the same question, in the q&a section of galaxy note subforum, you will receive a more positive response (provided you did your searching beforehand, else most of them will just troll you)...
I do not know the exact details with regards to galaxy note...
But you can try flashing a new stock rom, or a custom rom...
(This ^ is generic help)

Here is the galaxy note q&a subforum...
Though I still insist you search around in the q&a as well as the general section, before making a new thread...

[Q] why do we still not have a galaxy s relay sub forum?

I see a lot of random phones that barely anyone knows exist on here that have one but for the galaxy s relay it seems like we just get ignored. We have quiet a few people who have the phone and ar forced to scavenge for a thread dedicated to it. We also just got our first cyogen mod (unofficial) the woo hoo!
I'm not pissed or anything. Just wonder why a phone used by many doesn't have a sub forum
