[Request] Someone willing to do me a favor & modify this app?

Okay, here's my situation. I have a ton of numbers in my address book (well, Google Contacts), and I use this app called Contacts Clean-up to make sure all the formatting of all my numbers are the same and everything. Now the problem is with this application it forces you to format your numbers so they have a "+" before your number (ex. +1-555-555-5555).
I went to use Darch's Legend ROM and for some reason that format of a number isnt supported, it just wont let me call the people. Being that I have hundreds of contacts between Google Contacts & Facebook I need to have my numbers formatted WITHOUT the "+".
Long story short, the app is open source & I was wondering if someone could modify it for me to make an option to not have the "+" in the number. I know someone's gotta know how to do it...

just take a look at the source yourself. it's pretty clearly outlined when you find
svn/trunk/res/values/strings.xml
i'd do it for you right now... but i can't check out a copy of the source since i don't use linux
but if you look in the strings.xml, you'll see the '+' sign that you want to get rid of clearly. if you're running linux, simply modify the file to delete the + sign and package it back to the apk, i'm assuming. then it should work fine

It just sucks that I'm on my mom's Mac right now.
Any ideas how to do it from here? Or anyone with Linux willing to help a fellow Android guy out?

To do it on a mac you would first have to install macports, and then run:

After that you would then be able to check out the source.

I have made the edits that are needed. Also, it required a bit more than just editing the strings file. This is obvious to anyone who has experience with Android development since the strings are only for display. As far as getting it to do what you wanted, that was just a few quick edits to the Formatter class.
PM me for a link to the .apk to install it. (I'm a new user, so I can't post links.) Just download it OTA. You will need to enable unknown sources in order to install it.

this should work for you...also i put in a section so that if you had used the other one by mistake and it put the + in front of your numbers it will remove the +... USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, tested with 10 differently formatted contacts all were formatted correctly after running it

I remember seeing that with FROYO we could link to Google Chrome and auto transfer files from the PC to our phone wireless over WIFI. Has anyone got this to work?

yup, you need to install the app on the phone and the extension onto google chrome browser

Mine only opens the map but doesn't pin to the sent location?

i made it easy and all in 1 page for people to get at rather then bunch of pages.

I didn't find the directions too difficult to follow...though they didn't really make it very clear that the apk needs to be registered first.
However, even though I register the app on my phone with my email address, my computer still says unregistered. Any ideas? I'm using google apps with a custom domain. It took my login, it just said it was unregistered...

Good guide EkostonS. I got it working. But uhm what's the purpose for this chrome-phone extension? It just opens up the link on the phone? Perhaps I am missing the bigger picture, haha.

did u click the link in the guide to login on your computer? step 4 or 5? cant remember not looking at the guide at this time.
you must login to that for this to recognize to send.
and the point is to send things from your comp to your phone.
such as, MAPS, LINKS, VIDEOS
watching youtube video and ur leaving? send to your phone.
want to bookmark a site on your phone ur viewing on ur pc? send to your phone
and one of my fav's
want to download a cd torrent on your phone? download a torrent app on your phone, send the link from pc to phone and download !

you forgot the mention the signing in on chrome. tttons of people were having problems including me, not being able to send the link to phone due to server error cause you werent signed in on chrome.
and im pretty dizzy now from watching the video LOL

and I can get screen caps from sever browsers stating otherwise and a long list of people who also say it does not work so ya... feel free to post a video though showing that its working and what you did to back your instructions.

where did I call you a liar? I said that it wasnt working and that a lot of other people were having issues so to put pictures to back your instruction so we can see where some of us could be doing it wrong... sheesh talk about over reacting a tad.... for example maybe Im doing a step wrong so by adding pictures we get confirmation of what we are doing, so like this step "Open browser, change ua to linux desktop, mac desktop or IE6" could you expand on this a bit more?
okay the only ua string options I see is
Android - Doesnt work get message that I need to update Adobe Flash
Desktop - Doesnt work get the same message
iPhone - Does work but so far every tv show, movie, clip, or trailer I click say The video is not available on the iPhone
so ya if you can go over the string part and let us know which your using that would be appreciated.

Well, it does,
just takes the ability to know that you have to complete all the steps listed in any instructions for anything to work.
a correct way to say it, would have been something like:
"I tired your apk, and here is a pic of the error, ( insert pick here)
I see that your on such and such rom, does it only work for that style of rom, or did I do something wrong?"
Well something, somewhere around something like that.

Now,
open your stock browser
Press menu
Go to setings
(Some stock browsers make you got into Advanced settings to see next option, some don't)
Select user agent
If your browser doesn't offer this option, you fail a step and the logical next step is to get a browser/rom that has that option.

so then what browser are you using then and what string are you using, obviously it would make sense to post your exact settings if its working for you. if your running a custom string then alright Dolphin HD lets us use custom so again like you said providing more information helps and works both ways.

Portforwarding is common for any server, u might need to do it if connect to a router
I think u can start the server on mobile network directly

The app works perfectly on my Oneplus One, it does exaclty what it says and it saved me from a lot of trouble.

The connection is made through ip sockets, so you may connect not only through wifi but also through all ip addresses your mobile may has, at the time you turn on your ShareBox

Yes of course! If you do it from your mobile web browser keep your finger pressed over the target file till the contextual menu shows up. If done through computer browser use your secondary mouse button. Easy!

Adding whole folders may be done through workarounds (using third party file managers or file compression) but is not yet "officially" supported

Could not reproduce your error, sorry!. Certainly the uri is composed based on system path folders names, so don't know why it appears that way

Yes, you may change the port used through settings menu, but restriction to use ports below 1024 is keeped. As stated before, please report your crashes with as much information as possible.

Samsung Tab 3 10" - Tap Settings - a delay, screen stay same - then after 6 seconds, maybe bit longer, app closes with msg box (every time)

Would it be possible to enable nfc "sharing"?
For example, if I have sharebox opened and running on a certain ip and port, and I tap another nfc device, then the other device's default browser would open up, already displaying the sharebox url.
Kinda like I can share a web url or maps location via android beam, but this time the beam wouldnt be between two identical apps, but between sharebox and the default browser of the other device.

Ok, that was a good clue. It seems an error that happens on this kind of devices. Published new version that will hopefully ammend it.

At first sight it seems that it should be possible if both devices were running ShareBox app with this feature implemented. Will have to study...

Definitely needed something like this. I'm tired of having to upload to google drive just to port some app that says "incompatible with this version" within play store on my painstakingly slow phone.

What I really need though, would be an app which can share a folder.
(Not just an interface that lets me share all the files in the folder quickly)
Something which shares 'that folder' live..
So if folder contents update 'live', refreshing the page will reflect the changes, much like a web-server would

If I try to add a cloud pic (I click add file, select stock kitkat gallery, click on a picasa / g+ image) the app force closes.
Can cloud pics be added? I dont think that nowadays people keep more than a few recently took photos on their device, both for memory and sync / backup reasons...

[MOD] Spotify tablet mode

If you're reading this, then you for sure know what Spotify is. We all love listening to music and, ugh, that's the synonym of Spotify!
Unfortunately, this work could be used for two fully opposite reasons, one of which is against the XDA rules, so I had no other choice but to close this thread (and remove links). I hope you understand me and sorry for the inconvenience.

Time ago, the app landed on our lovely Android platform for both tablets and phones and honestly who wasn't excited?
Soon after, forced shuffle mode and limited number of skips were also introduced and I agree that there must be a reason to purchase Premium after all. Luckily, this restriction was not enabled on tablets, but a problem that appears is that far from all tablets are detected as ones - mainly the "smaller" ones. This [bug/miss-code] activates the restriction on your tablet, and as a fix was needed from either side, here was my solution.
This mod was created for all those "small tablets" that are incorrectly recognized so that you can use Spotify the way it was meant to be used.

Op pls can you upload this mode in a diff site cos mega is down. And secondly can you help me with little explanation as to how to install this or all I need is to just install the apk after the download. I haven't installed spotify b4 that's why . Thanks for the response in advance

MEGA is never down, it only needs the app for android if you want to download from phone. That's the reason I personally won't mirror.
About installing, you need to have "Unknown sources" enabled in your Security settings. Then just open the APK and install it as normal. If you still can't figure it out check YouTube for thousands of tutorials.

I've downloaded the apk for mega, and also tried to access the website. But it refuses to open the website or allow me to login to the app. Hence the servers are actually down. Op if possible can u post it on a different cloud?. Thank you for this amazingly brilliant apk!

Op u can as well check again, it's no longer a news that mega is down for now. You see people testifying. You can check up urself

@ViRb3 It doesn't work on gingerbread android again...
I think it's a problem of apk version because on Google play it was written that the version varies with device.
So please If you give me your email, I'll send the last apk version of spotify compatible with gingerbread to you.

OP I could possibly kiss you all day and it wouldn't be enough. Worked like a charm.
Also the server seemed to be down only in parts around the world. So anyone being unable to connect simply use a VPN. Works perfectly with a VPN.
Though it is currently up again.

Op finally I got it downloaded. Thanks so much but I have a question. Is it possible for me to download for offline for free with this mod?

Absolutely not. I am not "hacking" Spotify and making it Premium-free and that will never be my aim. I am just making it possible to run in tablet mode on smaller tables.
