I have a very bad SMS delay problem. Since I installed Virtuous Saga I had this problem. It persisted even after I installed Fallout. I noticed that the problem dissapeared when I did not use mobile internet. I did some research and discovered that a while ago, many people had this issue, and that the sense 3.0 OTA solved it. From what I know, that OTA had a radio update. So I think that a radio flash could solve the problem. But I want to ask the rest of you if it is worth it to flash the radio, because I am too afraid of jumping to conclusions
So should I flash the radio or not?
I had sms delay on cyanogenmod 7.2 when I had old radio (from sense 2.1 ota). There is a topic named 'sms issue on cyanogen...'. I have flashed radio and problem seems to be resolved. You may try. After flashing radio I had to reformat partitions and restore rom backup.

I am having the same problem on every single rom. The biggest problem is that i am experiencing this on the Desire S, on
the original Desire and i have a friend that has it on a Increbile S
It could be carrier's issue too. Bad network signal?

It can't be, the phones are used in different parts of the city and the network coverage is ok.
I read on a thread somewhere that this problem is caused by the phone getting stuck on HSDPA, and that the Sense 3.0 update to the radio solved it. Still, since I'm on ICS I should try and update to the leaked Virtuous Saga radio, and if I succeed I will tell you how I did it
Hi, did you resolve your sms issue with a radio update? I'm having the same issues with sms delay - my thread for info
Might be telling you all something that you know already - in which case sorry.
But you need to be S-OFF (unlocked) in order to flash a radio, people who have unlocked using HTCDEV cannot flash a radio.
If you did unlock via htcdev, will need to relock, downgrade and apply revolutionary to achieve S-off.
There are a couple of downgrade guides in the INDEX (see link in my signature).
I think for htcdev.com unlocked devices it is possible flashing via PG88IMG.zip, containing radio.img and proper android-info.txt files

I have not solved my issue, because I was too afraid to flash the radio. But, I installed Virtuous Infinity, and the problem (the delay) wasn't as big as it used to be. Still, it is there. Is it really that dangerous to flash a radio?
My device was unlocked with revolutionary so I do not have that issue
yes its risky, but everything that we tend to do to our devices, carries some risk..
If you ensure that you check the md5sum of the radio file once its actually on your devices sd card and only do so with a fully charged battery you minimize the risk.
I'm ok also as I s-off'd via revolutionary. I just thought, I flashed to the pre-rooted stock 2.3.5 via install.zip in recovery. Would this have contained the updated radio? Or would it only update the radio if flashing via RUU?
My current radio is: 3805.06.02.03_M
I should be able to answer my own question with a bit of digging around here.

I'd suggest that you want either the latest leaked one (see link in my sig) or this one

I wouldn't, several people with it have reported losing sound completely (not just in call) after making 2 - 3 calls and only a reboot fixes the issue but after the next 2 - 3 calls sound is gone. Many of those have gone back to the last official radio which is the one you just flashed.
I'm gonna start this thread to find trouble shoot what might cause the problem after the update.
So what been update after on this OTA?
Hboot - 1.14.0004
Radio - 1.08ts.50.02.16_10.08e.50.04L
Build - 2.35
The problem is you can't get wifi to work on any rom (Viper,Axiom,CM10,ASOP,MIUI). The only rom that wifi works is Custom rom Trickdroid 7.0 US or stock 2.35, since it base on nanoid backup of one user. Keep display connect and switch of and on.
Any inputs will helps..I'm currently running Viper Rom without WIFI LOL.
I post logcat while on Viper Rom for DEV to take a look.
There is already a fix for this, go read it ask on Trickdroid TmoUs thread.

I'm understanding it as if you only have wifi if your on a 2.35 build. If that's the case, it's more than likely firmware related. Only way to rid yourself off that firmware is to run an RUU and only 2.21 and 2.31 have HBOOT 1.14 that I know of.

Hello,
I think the only way to get wifi on Viper for you would be to flash the 2.31 ruu which has the same hboot. You will need to change your CID first. Here is a thread that might http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674202. I just dont know if it will cause any problems with other roms or with the stock if you go back. If the 2.35 ruu gets released you could undo it but not till then.

Yeah you can't go backwards because of HBOOT, your only options are 2.21 & 2.31 and they fall because you're not SUPERCID(debrand phone).

Energy rom, CM10, and paradroid (whatever it called)
but they are not a good rom for me..
I am in the same situation as you, because of there are not many roms for this garbage phone..
I am trying to selling it and get a popular phone which are easier to flash custom roms.
PS: HTC always make stupid phones, no wonder the company is going bankrupt.
Its funny how I have no issues whatsoever with my hboot 1.14.
Easier to flash custom roms? I flash roms the same way on all my devices - in recovery. The only difference with the S is i have to spend 5sec on typing "fastboot flash boot boot.img" before first boot up. Yea, hard stuff that
And... why did you buy it if you think htc only makes stupid phones? Makes no sense to me...

Most wifi issues revolve around t-mobile phones I believe. It often relates to the 2.35 update. Others did not have these issues.
You can also solve via superCID and flash another RUU (that has a similar level of bootloader).
But yes, a bootloader downgrade will solve this, since then you can flash other wifi partitions (even the Jelly Bean ones).
Alternatively you can wait for the OTA upgrade to Jellybean.

I've been looking and have found that there is no RUU for the 3.17 Telus update, only OTA zips.
I would like to upgrade my phone to the newest firmware, and then re-unlock, and restore my rom from a nandroid backup.
Is there anyway that I can do this? Should I run the AT&T RUU and then proceed to unlock the normal way?
I am s-off before anyone yells at me.
What I did is ruu to ics, then check for updates. I have seen some 3.17 ota repack downloads but I prefer direct from the source.
Then installed twrp 2.3.x then downgraded touchscreen firmware to run AOSP. Though you don't need to do that unless you want to run AOSP.
Telus sucks at releasing RUUs, but the network here isn't as Saturated as some of the other guys

I forgot to add, there is no need to re-unlock as there's no need to re-lock to RUU with S-OFF. Just keep it unlocked and then flash TWRP after. nice and easy. (I have done this myself so I am 100% positive)
