Thanks!

So in this first hour after flashing, I can report back noticeable improvements in signal bars and 4G speeds (TMO-US network only).

Does this require any particular hboot like tecardo's thread or it doesn't matter?

S-Off phones, which I have, don't need to worry about hboot versions so I wouldn't know. I'll add a note on OP.

Ok cool, that means I'll have to S-OFF the missy's phone, smh. My hboot is 1.08 so I might be ok but not going to try it yet.
Sent from the other One.

Shouldn't we be flashing the WCNSS and adsp partitions too? I don't know if there's a method to check the version numbers.
I got the firmware.zip, I guess I'll try flashing all three.

what about the rcdata.img and wcnss.img ? i think thoes are part of the radio......i would suggest you just flash the whole firmware.zip

edit: oops I remember now that cm uses the system radio. doh.
I can't figure out how to extract the radio.img files. I'll just wait for tecardo.
edit2: no I got it. Sweet. I love torturing myself to figure this all out.

Are you S-OFF? If so, were/are you superCID? I think having supercid and flashing part of the ota is a no-no...

Testing new radio, thanks!

I have a test zip that includes the radio as well as adsp and wcnss partitions, but I need some testers to try it out
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2k0es7z9qs4sp19/radio-1.13-xtra-test.zip

If is not affecting S-OFF, super cid or something, I can flash it. I have S-OFF and super CID.

I flashed the pack. Everything was ok, and I compared signal level with the One S of my colleague's. I had -81-83dBm and he has -83-85-87dBm so I think there is a improvement. I will check after 15min when we will be in another location. After that I will flash the radio on his device and see what happens.
Thanks for the radio!

SMS Delay:should I flash leaked radio?

I have a very bad SMS delay problem. Since I installed Virtuous Saga I had this problem. It persisted even after I installed Fallout. I noticed that the problem dissapeared when I did not use mobile internet. I did some research and discovered that a while ago, many people had this issue, and that the sense 3.0 OTA solved it. From what I know, that OTA had a radio update. So I think that a radio flash could solve the problem. But I want to ask the rest of you if it is worth it to flash the radio, because I am too afraid of jumping to conclusions
So should I flash the radio or not?
I had sms delay on cyanogenmod 7.2 when I had old radio (from sense 2.1 ota). There is a topic named 'sms issue on cyanogen...'. I have flashed radio and problem seems to be resolved. You may try. After flashing radio I had to reformat partitions and restore rom backup.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
I am having the same problem on every single rom. The biggest problem is that i am experiencing this on the Desire S, on
the original Desire and i have a friend that has it on a Increbile S
It could be carrier's issue too. Bad network signal?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
It can't be, the phones are used in different parts of the city and the network coverage is ok.
I read on a thread somewhere that this problem is caused by the phone getting stuck on HSDPA, and that the Sense 3.0 update to the radio solved it. Still, since I'm on ICS I should try and update to the leaked Virtuous Saga radio, and if I succeed I will tell you how I did it
Hi, did you resolve your sms issue with a radio update? I'm having the same issues with sms delay - my thread for info
Might be telling you all something that you know already - in which case sorry.
But you need to be S-OFF (unlocked) in order to flash a radio, people who have unlocked using HTCDEV cannot flash a radio.
If you did unlock via htcdev, will need to relock, downgrade and apply revolutionary to achieve S-off.
There are a couple of downgrade guides in the INDEX (see link in my signature).
I think for htcdev.com unlocked devices it is possible flashing via PG88IMG.zip, containing radio.img and proper android-info.txt files

I have not solved my issue, because I was too afraid to flash the radio. But, I installed Virtuous Infinity, and the problem (the delay) wasn't as big as it used to be. Still, it is there. Is it really that dangerous to flash a radio?
My device was unlocked with revolutionary so I do not have that issue
yes its risky, but everything that we tend to do to our devices, carries some risk..
If you ensure that you check the md5sum of the radio file once its actually on your devices sd card and only do so with a fully charged battery you minimize the risk.
I'm ok also as I s-off'd via revolutionary. I just thought, I flashed to the pre-rooted stock 2.3.5 via install.zip in recovery. Would this have contained the updated radio? Or would it only update the radio if flashing via RUU?
My current radio is: 3805.06.02.03_M
I should be able to answer my own question with a bit of digging around here.

I wouldn't, several people with it have reported losing sound completely (not just in call) after making 2 - 3 calls and only a reboot fixes the issue but after the next 2 - 3 calls sound is gone. Many of those have gone back to the last official radio which is the one you just flashed.

2.31 OTA radio flash

ok, this is my question, can we flash the radio from the 2.31 by fastboot??
Should have posted this in Q&A
If your HBOOT is 1.13 or higher, then the only way to update radio is via RUU or OTA. If your HBOOT is older, then you can flash radios in recovery. It takes 3 images: radio, adsp, wcnss.
There are posts around the forums that detail the process.
I have hboot and older hboot can you please upload the radio in a flashable zip

Its my understanding that the CM roms come with a radio in a different partition, you might find that going to a sense based rom you won't have the radio working properly.
HBOOT Versions 1.13+ can't flash to the radio partition on sense based roms. So to flash the radio on a sense rom you will have to downgrade your HBoot, theres a sticky tutorial on how to do this.

help with hboot

ive been on my comp for hours and i cant find a set answer
can i downgrade my hboot 1.14 running older ruu? example the 1.84 one or the 1.53
second......can i flash the wifi partitions for JB trickdroid with hboot 1.14
i would like just a positive straight answer.....please keep the negative off my thread as i have been searching......

Its Ubuntu haha.. Pretty awesome setup I use 12.04... If you decide to use it, install
64bit just in case you decide to try building from source.... I agree with the above answer as well.. You can not flash an ruu that is below your hboot.. The partitions will go through the motion of flashing but will not actually flash no matter how you try.. I've tried all three ways...to include flash image GUI and HTC dumlock...hope this helps

Energy rom, CM10, and paradroid (whatever it called)
but they are not a good rom for me..
I am in the same situation as you, because of there are not many roms for this garbage phone..
I am trying to selling it and get a popular phone which are easier to flash custom roms.
PS: HTC always make stupid phones, no wonder the company is going bankrupt.
Its funny how I have no issues whatsoever with my hboot 1.14.
Easier to flash custom roms? I flash roms the same way on all my devices - in recovery. The only difference with the S is i have to spend 5sec on typing "fastboot flash boot boot.img" before first boot up. Yea, hard stuff that
And... why did you buy it if you think htc only makes stupid phones? Makes no sense to me...

Most wifi issues revolve around t-mobile phones I believe. It often relates to the 2.35 update. Others did not have these issues.
You can also solve via superCID and flash another RUU (that has a similar level of bootloader).
But yes, a bootloader downgrade will solve this, since then you can flash other wifi partitions (even the Jelly Bean ones).
Alternatively you can wait for the OTA upgrade to Jellybean.

Thats correct. You can try to flash it but it wont actually work. The only way to use a different radio on a higher hboot (besides OTA updates and RUUs) is to go to an AOSP ROM. They hold radio files in a different location (there is a CM10 radio flasher in the development forums). This still wont replace the underlying radio on your phone (which will be there if you go back to SENSE base ROMs). But it will allow you to try out different radios.
Not brick, only don't install
you don't tell us what rom you are on--
