Hi guys.
I'm using stock ROMs (V21E + Stock Android 2.3.5) in my P920 for the past 3 months now, but I'm curious about Android 4 ROMs, and also about faster/less battery consuming ROMs and Kernels.
What combination of ROM + Kernel do you recommend?
I would like to keep the 3D possibilities of the phone (camera, gallery, video playback), if possible.
Thanks.

Although defcomg was right, you should posted it in general sectionç a ROM with full 3D capabilities is just up to GingerBread, and with some difficulties in flashing the ROM, the ICS ROM ported by XBSALL.
The cyanogenmod ROMs are not with 3d capabilities and some of them have no working HDMI or other problems. So it's up to you.
Thanks BigBadSheep

Sorry about the wrong section, I would change it if I could.
I tried to install xbsall's ICS ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956347) this weekend, but couldn't.
I followed marti701's tutorial for installing BIN ROMs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490), but failed.
My computer kept recognizing/unrecognizing omap4 device and I had a hard time installing it's driver (had to download it from another site and install it manually, it wouldn't install from windows update).
Also the "LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT" device wasn't installed in my computer, so I couldn't change the COM port to 41 as required.
Despite it I proceed with the tutorial, but LGFlashTool didn't install anyting, of course.

2 weeks ago i was just like you too, i didn't know what do where to go and where to ask, so don't just get disappointed yet.
First thing first , you need to read more and more before start using Lg flash tool or any other flash tools out there, you will end up with brick phone. i been there so i know how it feels. all you have to do it find all the drivers necessary for your computer and then download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956347
Go to Google translate and translate this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490
most driver you need is there.
I'll be here to help you for anythings that i already know, and for what i don't know we are like family in Xda developers we will ask those master and Developers and they will give you the right answer you need.

bensmokie, those were the tutorials I followed.
I've installed kdz basebands/roms and kernels before without any problem, but those bin roms are a problem for me. Maybe the reason is Win7 64 bits in my computer.
Maybe I will try again next weekend, this is my daily use phone and I can't afford to mess with it during work days.
Thank you.

I followed that tutorial today, phone entered green download mode ok, but in LG Flashtool I got a "Download FAIL" error trying to flash xbsall's ported rom...
A few messages kept appearing in LG Flashtool until "Set FLASH address".
Then, the phone shut itself off (korean letters disapeared)
Then, I got: error! IFXDownload
Error WM_PROGRESS_MSG
Code Download fail
FAIL
Tried 3 times now, always the same error...
Phone now boots normally and starts GB normally, but I have no network signal !

Thats weard never happen to me. anyway fallow this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836
Download the BOOT V 21E the bin file and the Fls file flash both of them in lg flash tool or smart flash when you are done, let phone start and lets see if it has signal. IMO you should have . after that try to flash xbsall's ported rom i think you should be good to go. if does not work on LG flash too try smart flash well i prefer Lg flash tool because it saved my butt many time
Good luck!!!
PS don't forget to change your COM port to 41.
Sorry bensmokie, I did some more reading and tried a few more times, and I managed to flash rom correctly, it´s working.
The thing is I don't have network signal for now, I,m trying to solve it at this time.

well thats great then!!!, when you flashed the ICS did you flash it with the FLS or just the BIN file? You have to flash both of them.... anyway here the Baseband you should need, find for your country and you should be good to go.

Working !
Flashed v30b baseband again, flashed bin rom again, and it's done!
Next step it's search for the bug solutions (camera and softkeys), root it and clean bloatware.
I'd like it to include my language (portuguese), but well...
Thanks again!

I'll stick for now with this stock 4.0.4 rom, I'm loving it!
I've already rooted and cleaned, now I'll try to fix the bugs.
Will try defcomg's modded camera app and sms fixes.
The 4 softkeys problem is solvable with new kernel, right?

Hello,
Recently, i have installed CM7 on my LG P925g and all work perfectly.
But i changed my phone for Samsung Galaxy S2 and i give my old phone for my girlfriend. She doesn't like CM7 and i though it will be more easier for her to get back the Stock rom than CM7.
I did a lot research on the web about this and i can't find anything good.
I find some threads...but with dead links.
Do someone can send me a LG P925g Stock rom that i can flash with CWM with a zip. ?
Or a Backup that i can use with CWM ( zip file )
I hope you could help me please...!!

If i remember correctly you can download and install the lg mobile support tool (http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGP925G scroll down a bit) write down your imei, (settings>about), then pop out the battery hold volume up and plug the usb cable in, aka download mode, the mobile support tool if you have it running and on the screen will try to look at it don't worry about that, Click on the customer support tab, the bottom item recovery phone, this is where your imei comes in, from there type in the IMEI and check, it should find the stock 20c firmware and from there it may need a few more clicks but you'll restore to stock 20c no custom recovery/root, but completely stock 20c.
Hope it helps, worked for me last time i screwed up lol
I justed registered to say thx!
Same problem here, screwed up and didnt know how to establish a working data connection with the pc..
the hint with the download mode really helped a lot, I didnt know that you had do pop out the battery, hold the volume up button and plug in the usb cable..
You can install any custom rom so there are many ROMs which are very stable and it's like the official rom too much not like the CM7 .. but you MUST do a backup before flash any CWM .zip so how cloud you install CM7 with out do a backup ??

Please do a factory reset!
schubeir
Hello everyone,
I am having a big problem after upgrading to official V30a.When I open the phone it says ''unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped'' every 3 minutes or so.
That means that my signal is lost and I can't do anything because that thing keeps popping up.Please help me because I am starting to freak out. After 6 hours of googling it I cannot find a solution.I tried everything.
Factory reset, another sim, rebooting, even some odd tricks like changing date or clearing contact data which worked for some guys. Before that I had 2.3.5 stock.
Also I live in Greece if that matters and I updated via the official LG update tool twice(the one was the emergency recovery which didn't solve my problem either).
What is more I am a complete noob regarding the ics and any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated. In case it is needed I am running windows 7 64bit and everything(firewall, antivirus, etc) was turned off while I did the update.
P.s Please excuse my poor knowledge of english. As I wrote above I am from Greece.
Best wishes to everyone who makes the moil(or labour I don't know which is the right one) to read all this

Thank you very much for the immediate reply.I haven't slept all night.
I have tried several times to uninstall and reinstall both the drivers and the support tool and now my phone is bricked(it doesn't open at all) since the last time when it tried to flash and stopped at 20% due to a connection problem between the pc and the phone as it wrote which can't be the case because I had double checked everything and the battery was full.

My guide uses LG Flash Tool. Also you have to run the setup before trying to use it. If flashing stopped at 20% something is probably wrong with driver setup or the .bin is corrupt (I'm not sure exactly what you did or used but it sounds like an incomplete flash). If you use my guide start over, follow it exactly, and use only the files linked. I have Win 7 x64.
Fastboot could possibly help, but you'd need to know exactly what is wrong and it's not easy to use if you don't understand command lines.

Well I'm glad something worked. Basically there are ways to fix each problem, but unless something is really wrong, reflashing (i.e. starting over) usually fixes most things because it rewrites everything. It usually is not necessary but it is one thing that does work. You have a good phone because, thanks to developers here, it is unbrickable.
Next time you can get some sleep knowing it is fixable

you know i don't want to mess with my phone or put it a custom rom
i want it to be officially updated to ics
also every time i update it tells me emergency mode if you can please tell me how to disable it
If you don't install the rom, the v28B normal partitions .bin file is official ICS, only rooted with custom recovery. If you don't want that, instead install a .bin that is pure stock ICS. Or, there is a tutorial for installing a .kdz file using a different tool.
It all depends how you want to do it.

ok well i want it official
and one more question i have lg p920 so if i installed this rom will it erase the apps like 3d gallery 3d converter 3d space ??
The v28B ICS is official + root.Stock v28B ICS has all stock apps + a root app or two. If you look at the link to XBSA rom, it will list what apps are in there. I just wrote this installation guide, not the rom. VR3D has the 3D apps. I think XBSA 8 does also, but I don't remember. Either way, having root lets you install whatever you want.
If you do it, do it carefully. And if you have 10 posts you can ask me questions over there.
Please help
Hi,
I tried today to update my p920 thru PC to ICS.
After more than ten unsuccessful tries I wanted to try from the begining but with the phone factory reseted.
After reseted my phone, it displays "not enough space. clean ...."
In settings - applications - manage aplications does not show as usualy the mb used and mb free.
In settings - SD card&phone storage settings shows total and available space for internal and esternal SD but ...
"not available" for internal storage.
What can I do?
PLEASE HELP.
What did you do to cause that?
If you are following my tutorial you missed something. Read all details.
If you installed xbsall's v28B large, you need to erase internal memory.
But I don't know what you did. Please explain.

Nothing else than I said above.
- connected the phone to pc
- started LG mobile support tool
- When showed there is an update available I pressed the red button "start Update"
- Then try and try. disconnected the usb cable and battery as the LG Support Tool requested ... still same message:"problem in conection to your phone. Even if seconds ago recognized it.Didnt get further than 40% on analizing tab.
Then the same message: "there is a problem conectic to your phone..."
- then I thought to perform a factory reset.
Pressed the tab got me to the bootloader mode where I wiped the cache and dalvik and pressed factory reset.
Pressed the Reboot tab. The phone rebooted normaly but when I tryed to download fx explorer I got the message with no enough space ....
That is all.
Ok, it sounds like possible error in flash. You might try erasing internal memory. Or redoing with LG Mobile Support tool, but I have had trouble using it. Just going from between Froyo and GB was a real pain. It took about 3 tries to get it to work, following LG's instruction exactly.
You can try my tutorial, it should be linked some posts up. It uses LG Flash Tool, not the other one. Or there are other tutorials in the General section that use other tools.
I don't use LG Mobile Support tool.

Would you be so kind to tell me exactly what tutorial of yours to try?
And also what soft I need to download for pc since the phone doesnt let me to install anything.
What you mean by "erasing internal memory" ... how can I do that?
Thank you.
First I'd try Mobile Update again to see if redoing it fixes it. Then I mean go into Android system settings/storage/internal memory/erase and see if it fixes it (back up your stuff to pc first, if you can).

Since your last answer I tried an tried with LG mobile support.
Nothing.
From more than 40 times, on 2 times passed 40% on Analyzing TAB and it said my phone has the last software.
LAYER.
The rest of times didnt pass 40%
I tried to erase internal memory but it didnt show the tab "erase" only 0, 00 mb available.
Your tutorial seems pretty hard to me so ... maybe there is somethin I can do from CWM where it takes me after pressing "factory reset"
THANK YOU for your time.
PLEASE HELP.
Hi Guys , I got the same problem! I tried to update my phone ( P920 UK ORANGE WITH GB ) from LG Official tool, the Tool find an update for my phone but when It try to analyse my phone it stop at 40 % with a message say : PROBLEM COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR PHONE,PLEASE TRY AGAIN" Ive tried a few times WITHOUT LUCK!,
Just a quick easy question: Is finally available an Official update to ICS ? other wise is no point to go mad and try to update the phone if there is no update to ICS
Please help with some more details
Thanks
Mark

If you don't want to learn to flash and have CWM, you could install ics by doing 1, 2 (choose 1 option in part 2) and maybe 3 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39130435
I have NOT tried it that way and I don't know if it will fix your problem. Plus, if you can't use storage I don't know how you will access the .zip(s) in CWM, unless you can get to it in there somehow.
If you do ending up needing to flash, my tutorial is about as clear as you will get as far as LG Flash Tool.

Stock rom with occidental google apps that cam with the 2nd gen of V6888 (The one with no logo and with the back you can remove from top right)
No Root, no Recovery, but no chinese apps: just for prople who wants to restore the phone to a clean stock rom then you can easily root and add recovery.
I had to ask a seller for it, Pandawill has only the old one with tons of china apps and no european market.
The archive contains drivers with explanation, SP Flash Tools and the folder with the rom itself.
You must use "download" function since BOOT ini will remain the older one.
Apparently this firmware saved even my camera that didn't work before.
Be careful and, anyhow, you can find the older stock rom from Pandawill easily.
Here is the UbuntuOne Link

Inside the rar you'll find the flash tool, just follow a tutorial to flash an MTK.
In a nutshell:
-open the SPFlashTool
-choose file->open scatter and select the scatter in the firmware folder (there is just one, you can't go wrong)
-connect the phone to the computer (Win only, sorry) without the battery, press Download, then Ok when he says boot.ini is missing
-insert the battery and the it will start flashing the firmware till you see a green circle.
Disconnect, boot, and here you are!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdUdHejJor4
here is a video of a full tutorial that consider even the driver setup, but you don't need it if you installed snappea or PDAnet , since the MTK driver are installed by those two software.
Or just google around for the MTK6577 drivers, maybe you can find them in a standalone installer.
If you have win 7/8 remember to allow the non signed driver installation (google is your friend here too...hehehe)
Thanks DioMOrgan
I have few questions:
Will this work on an already rooted phone? (more like do I have to skip any steps so as not to root it again?)
Does this install ENglish Play store (You mentioned Occidental but was not sure of which language it might contain)
WIl this also cure the satellite and GPS problmes reported elsewhwre?
Kindly guide me.
Thanks

Guys are Italian and I write a little bad English: I am in a serious fix, my V6888 is corrupted.
I followed the guide you provided, only that when I came out the inscription that is missing the BOOTIMG I have posted the file "uboot_bd86_77_emmc_v6888.bin" inside the folder of ROMS and I gave the OK. I have installed everything except that now the phone stops on initial Android logo and does not go ahead, it seems to go right. What can I do to recover? I tried to redo the flash without check of BOOTIMG, installed everything again but the phone does the same defect. How do I save it? Please help!!! Thank you all and have a nice day!!!

I solved it by installing Pandawull ROM first and then reinstalling this without BOOTIMG. Doing this everything was fine, now the phone works fine! Thanks all the same!!: Vittoria:

It deosnt allow me to go forward. I tried the volume down and power button and it just comes up with the factory page where you test the hardware and reboot.(Blue screen). Doesnt give me download OR recover options. Usually yellow/green.
Even the mtk 6577 drivers are difficult to load on WIndows XP sp3. (although it says downloaded successfully). When connecting this softbricked phone, nothing happens!
Any ideas and help please?
Thanks in advance

Hey Guys, finally cracked it. Had to do it in a WIndows 7 machine. Wa a bit of struggle getting all the drivers. Fially using the SP tools as suggested by Diomorgan, managed to flash the ROM and make the phone alive again.
Thank you very much Dimorgan for th time and patience in helping me/us. Really appreciated.

There is not much development since last year. I just about managed the 4.0.4 for English play store and stuff.
Hi im just new in this kind of stuffs and i dont know where to start.
Base on others said that its better to use custom rom than miui
I am afraid that i might brick my phone thats why i afraid to do it.
Im currenty playing wild rift and so far, for the past weeks im experiencing FPS drop which is so annoying.
So whats the most stable custom rom you can recomend?
and just in case something wrong happened. can i still revert it back to miui?
any topic or thread you can link in comments would be really appreciated.
thanks
I haven't done that for long so I can't give you an accurate answer, but if you brick your phone you should be able to unbrick it using Mi FlashTool. Example here: https://www.technobuzz.net/xiaomi-unbrick-guide. I've never had completely bricked a phone even though I did take very very bad decisions. And yes custom roms are lighter than MIUI. Try to find a step by step tuto.
so where should i start?
any thread you can link?
Some will say this is outdated, but I still find it a good starting point: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4196271/ (especially this step-by-step guide: https://telegra.ph/How-to-install-Poco-x3-ROM-10-14; unless your preferred ROM developer tells you otherwise -- if unsure, always follow dev instructions).
After that, you could maybe proceed with the Index: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4176491/.

custom rom don't destroy/brick your fone, its
a) wrong kernel or right kernel taken from unpopular source (telegram groups etc)
b) flashing error due to cable or otg failure!
where to start?
1. download miui unlocker, on windows pc/laptop
2. from developer option miui12, link miui account (which you must've already signed in to, )
3. don't use wifi, use 4g sim to link account in developer options
4. shutdown device and goto fastboot mode by pressing volume downd+power button for 10+ seconds untill u see fastboot and BOT
5. runn miui unlocker and attach cable, sign in to your miui account. it will verify and give you one week waiting time! , DONOT TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE SETTINGS OR MIUI ACCOUNT NOW. after one week, unlock the device (take backup before)
6. flash recovery
7. flash rom ( i would suggest RR8.0 or HAVOC) , if you want android 11, then go for Crdroid!
8. flash google apps / or nick apps IF the rom doesn't have it!
9. keep oem firmware 90mb file handy! sometimes o translate programming language the script requires latest Fw. , you can download it from xiaomifirmwaredownloader site!
10. flash magisk if you want rooted poco
11. reboot!
