After upgrading to 4.1.1, My note 10.1 is very slowly. What's happen? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Note has just been upgraded to 4.1.1 by OTA. After being eager to discover the new features, i realised that All the apps which worked well and fast before now have been slowly. The in-stock internet is not smooth in touch and flip any longer and usually being lag. Other apps take long time to start and respond.. Please tell me what happened with my note and should i do now to improve it? Or i must downgrade to the 4.0 ?
Thanks

Sorry for my dull, but what is wiping? I did not do any thing strange before the system alerted me to upgrade.

Factory reset after backing up apps and data or take Note to a Samsung service centre .
jje

Its was an OTA and not installed using ODIN so there was no need to wipe.
Unfortunately thats is the case with most of the OTA give it a few days things get a little better

If I root my S3 how does that affect over the air updates from Samsung? If JB is released Wednesday will I still be able to DL it and would it unroot the device? Also, aside from apps to sd hacks what are the main advantages of rooting?

Never download OTA updates if you are rooted, especially unlocked. There will be an OTA update that is safe for us to use here on the forums. Too many benefits to list. Overclocking, better battery life, get rid of bloatware that slows the phone down, full control of how the phone works and looks.

I guarantee jb will be released here long before verizon does it. In fact check out the progress in the tmobile port thread in development. It's only been leaked for two days. I predict a beta build by Monday at this rate.

Yeah like the others said, wait it out. Allot of great devs around here will have JB ready to go and much better than stock.

Its moving crazy fast over there Incubus is busting his tale on this and it looks like its almost there. There is data and sms/mms is working for a lot of people. They are on Alpha 4. Incubus said when it goes beta sms/mms will be working! This could be today! They were on Alpha 2 this morning. I'm going to give it a run tomorrow and see how its doing.

just checked out that rom looks nasty gonna wait til it's fully functional though. If I flash that will I have to reinstall all my apps and reset everything up on my phone though?
say I just wait for the OTA official JB update, does it work the same way or will my apps and homescreen setups remain?

Since a clean install is highly recommended then yes you will have to resetup everything. But you can backup using titanium and restore your apps

TiBu will backup your apps and all their data along with call logs and sms/mms as well. What you're looking at losing is the shortcuts and widgets on your homescreen(s) since you'll be moving to a new launcher (unless the new ROM has the same version of TouchWiz???). I found it useful to take screenshots of my home screens and send them to dropbox so I can place the new shortcuts exactly where the old ones had been. It takes me about a half an hour to do it. Which is a lot better than the two hours it took to download all my apps and set up a virgin S3.

[Q] New OTA Update

Got the new OTA update this week on Skyrocket on my rooted phone. It will down load but when it reboots to install it starts up in in Clockworkmod screen so does not Install. What can I do to install update????
Please search the forums before posting nonsense. You can't receive OTA updates using a custom recovery. You need to be stock. Odin back to stock ICS and then try.

Go to Here and return the device to complete stock (unrooted) form then apply update... remember, if your happy with your device the way it is I wouldn't bother
Thanks Guys. Sorry about posting again before I read other posts of the same. Will just leave it as is till Jelly Bean comes out as one of you suggest. Thanks Again...
I also got the OTA show up on my phone. I do not intend on unrooting and installing at the moment but am curious what the update is for. Anyone know? ATT of course has nothing on their site.

I also received an ota update this morning. The only reason I had my skyrocket rooted was so I could try out the jelly bean roms. restored to stock and now my phone is telling me that the software is up to date and wont let me get the ota again. Does anyone know how I can get it to show up again. By the way I am a noob with this kind of stuff

Why are people in these forums so rude to someone who is just asking a simple question? Because I would like to have my GS2 on a full jelly bean firmware that's not buggy and that is not ICS. I've tested the full jelly bean on another device and it is a lot smoother and definitely better in all aspects than ICS. In my opinion anyway.

This isn't a jellybean upgrade tho. Its just some enhancements and a new modem to ICS.
So, I don't WANT the upgrade, but Device management keeps loading up and won't go away unless I hit the home key. It keeps popping up and won't be satisfied until I download the upgrade, which I do not want to do. Is there any way to turn it off?

How is that rude? I asked why you would go through the trouble to get such a minor stock update. This isn't jb, man. It's a maintenance update. Chill out
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
JB hasnt even officially been released for the Galaxy S3 and the chances of SR getting it before S3 is 0.004855% and there is no "official" word on if its even going to come out for Skyrocket yet alone if ATT will go through with it. They did say Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE but that can also mean just the international version or whatever.
Remember it has to go through Samsung then ATT.
Your best bet for JB right now is the AOSP based ones.

He's not being rude, that was a legitimate question. I would ask the same. And trust me, a small update like this one wouldn't be JB. Sad, but you can get that idea out of your head. Besides, I'd scream if the SR got official JB before the S3

Anyone do the update? My Note 10.1 wifi got an OTA notification as well. Currently on stock 4.1.2. Anyone know consists of this update? My choices are, Later/Install All/Install....curious...but not enough to hit the trigger.
This is interesting. Anyone knows what Samsung packed into that update? If you've already rooted, i think it's much safer to wait until the update is added to your favorite custom ROM.
That's kinda the issue, she likes the stock ROM. Maybe I'll pull the update file and look into what's in there tomorrow.

Unfortunately my son thought he was being "helpful" and accepted it.
Minor UI stuff, stuff runs a little smoother, but I haven't seen anything major.
HOWEVER it de-roots you, and none of the usual suspects have worked. I originally rooted using Framaroot, and it does not work. So waiting with baited breath for someone to get around to fixing that problem.
I just checked my daughter tab 2 7.0 and its installing 4.2.2 right now.. and apparently thats been out for about a month. I was unaware... kinda stinks that an older tablet has a newer os version

um.... maybe you should try flashing another rom with Odin first.
there might be a system bug instead of hardware problems
i got same problem yesterday,i was on data mode with wechat and dialer running that time.
yes, my also hangs, new battery does not help, I tried about 5 ROMs with/without root 4.1.2, 4.2.2, I also tried other kernels, the undervoltage ones - it reset and hangs much more - so I assume it might be something to do with voltage on cpu on certain frequences
Same problem here. I've already taken my phone back to store for repairs twice and updated to 4.2.2, but still no change. It behaved nicely for a week since last repairs, but now it keeps restarting and powering off randomly.

[Q]Sleep of death problem

So guys, for christmas i've received this phone and now i'm on 4.2.2 stock firmware. This SOD happened only two time for now (with hard reset after updating my phone). I tried to looking for a solution in this forum, but i've not found anything.
Is there a solution without send the phone to samsung assistence? I have to go in hospital next week for an operation and, yes, i know that is stupid, but i need the phone to pass the time.
Thank you for all answer.
