Hi.
I'm running the latest cm10.1 nightly (120110).
In the google play store it says my phone model is "Telenor Samsung Nexus S" (Telenor is my carrier).
It also says that many apps aren't compatible with my phone.
I've looked around in the build.prop but can't find anything with my carrier there.
Anyone got a tip how I can change this and be able to download these apps?
Regards Robin Hansson

Has nothing to do with your carrier prefixing your model. Mine says my carrier too, and everything is compatible, doesn't change the "real" model from Nexus S.
Most incompatibilities are related either to DPI (did you change yours?), changing the model and brand in build.prop, which I imagine you didn't do, or your country of origin.
Mine says that too but it installs most of the apps from play store (all the compatible apps) .. maybe u r trying to install apps that arent compatible with the Nexus S

Hello all! I've just bought an Alldro Speed tablet and, as I noticed, Google Play is not familiar with this tab. I want to install apps that are not "compatible" with this tab. The manufacturer which made my tab is Broncho and the model is A710. What is the most appropiate brand and model to mine with which Google Play is familiar with? I tried Galaxy Tab 7 Plus P6200 which, I tought it's the most appropriate. I followed the ES File Explorer tutorial and, after I enter the Play app, nothing changed. When checking my account, it's not in the list. Is there a way to update the device info in my account or have I missed a step? Please help!
Notice
After editing the build.prop, only the manufacturer changes. The model is still the same somewhere. The model number concerns me the most. Can it be edited in build.prop or is there something different?
Noob here with a hard luck story..
I'm living in China, and just bought a new Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch (model number GT-P3100). Unfortunately, it didn't come preloaded with any Google apps. No Google Play store, nothing. I found the Google framework.apk, and play store.apk and successfully loaded them. They store app will load for about half a second, and then crash. nothing. I did manage to get the device loaded on my Google account, so it shows up on the web store. it wont download anything because the store app isn't working. China is absolutely not Google's friend...
would rooting and flashing a MOD from a tab from the usa be an option? maybe alt app stores? kind stuck...

Root then flash a Custom ROM (like AOKP or CyanogenMod) that has a GAPPs zip for it aswell, should get you up and going, tho you may also need to connect thru a proxy server outside of china, it's been a while and I don't remember all the details I've read about accessing google play from china. Yeah china sucks when it comes to google.
If you prefer the stock ROMs, you can also flash a stock ROM from another country with gapps included and should be fine
Hello,
I had some compatibility issues with my tablet and Google Play not showing a lot of games, so i have decided to do the most common fix - changing build.prop to spoof other device. I have changed it to Nexus 7, rebooted, and cleaned cache/data of google play.
Point is, the google play is still showing me the same exact apps as before, and all the apps that were incompatible are still incompatible.
Any idea what should i do? Thanks in advance.

No i havent, since Nexus 7 have default density 160 dpi, and mine tablet also had 160 dpi.
I have changed only Model and brand, since guides said that is enough. Also, the device truly is identified as Nexus 7 (when connected by usb, in antutu,...)
Hi Peeps,
Get my new "mini" few days ago. Its an Asian "guy" 601e, so i got few questions listed below :
#There is no more standard Google Play Market and instead i got HTC Marketplace? Is it even replacement? Advantages and dis` ?
#Mentioned above Marketplace is fully Chinese language. Is is possible to change it? Some of apps (like google maps after downloaded from marketplace and installed cant open)
#Now I`m in Singapore, but my phone cant provide proper location. Error message is below :
"Unable to contact the location to update your current location."
#Is there some ways to change my phone from "asian style" to "western" i guess most of y`all will understand what i mean.
Thanks,
that sucks. I hear China and other Asian counties are blocking Google and such.
you will need "Google services framework" as well as play store or any other Google apps. Why location won't work.
i'm guessing your not rooted? I don't know wether you can run these as user's apps. I think "Google services framework" needs to be installed to system.
there are plenty of "alternative" app stores out there where you can grab the apps you need. Though not sure you can fix location problem without Google..
i think you would need to root to use play store on a phone without play store. BUT you most likely will have to trick you're phone into thinking it's a US model. Don't know what other problems you will face doing this.

I have a 601e as well, but I didn't have any issues initially with the Google Play Market.
In any case, shortly thereafter, I wiped it clean and installed the latest 4.3 that tr1gg3r84 uploaded.
Installing a rom should fix that. Good luck!
I used to play PVZ2 a lot back on 4.4.4 KitKat, and I had noticed that I hadn't seen an update for the game in forever. So I though maybe they removed it? Which wouldn't make sense. So I searched in the Play Store and... Nothing. I then googled the game and I found the Play Store link, and clicked it and it said "device incompatible with this version"...? I installed it before and it played, and it still plays. I'm on 5.0.1 stock Lollipop and I'm wondering if anyone else plays it and is getting updates? I can back door update it, but why does it say it isn't compatible? This is a Nexus device, it should work. Is it Lollipop? Or did they discontinue Lollipop support on the N5? Which would make sense to me...
Anyone play it and know what's going on?

It is compatible with our device. Most likely you altered the DPI of your screen which causes compatibility issues with certain apps, or perhaps some other root level modification.

No... I have a completely stock 5.0.1 Lollipop, no modifications or customizations. The only thing I have is root to get rid of ads and backup my apps.
So it is in your play store?
And I know it IS compatible, well, it was for me anyways, which is why I was asking since I found it really weird.

I can see it in the Play Store and it's listed as compatible with my device. Do you have any other devices registered to your Google account perhaps?

Just my old HTC Inspire 4G which isn't compatible but it worked before on my N5. Hmmm... Maybe I should just delete the game and clear data for PS and look again.
