Sorry if this has been answered. I couldn't find the answer anywhere...
There are some situations where I would like my tablet to respond to pen input only. A good example of this would be the feature in Quill, although obviously without the added hand gestures.
I would like this to be set globally. I thought it might already be in the settings panel, but I can not find it.
I am running a recent nightly build of Cyanogen 10.1, so stock features may not apply. Are there any rooted apps that could do this out there? Other solutions?

Hi all,
I searched through the forums, but did not find a straightforward answer.
Is there a way to use a custom 3rd party keyboard, but retain normal keyboard dock layout and functionality? I know about the "consistency" layout warning, but is there a way around? With another on-screen layout, the dock shift button behaves like the one of the on-screen on. Also some other keys work a bit differently.
Can I somehow auto-switch to the Asus keyboard layout when connecting to the dock and switch back when disconnecting? I mean without having to change the layout manually (even though it means just a few clicks in the statusbar).
I've got the exact same "problem" - I wanna use Swiftkey Tablet X when undocked, and of course, the Asus keyboard when docked. Must be some way of automating the switch..
I would like to know that too...

Ok, after some more googling and forum searching found 2 guides to do this. But to be honest, neither really suites me well.
Here is one that involves using the Tasker app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081856
While it may be nice if you already use the Tasker app, I do not really feel like buying the app just to auto-switch keyboard layout.
The other approach requires root access and involves manually tweaking system files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118164
This is doable for sure, but it is something that I'd have to repeat each time I switch or update ROM.
I'd like something easy to use and more elegant. I looked around the APIs and started writing a little app to achieve this. I'll post it in the DEV forum once I have something workable.

Awesome - please drop a clue in this thread when it's ready for testing
Ok, I've started a thread about the app. I'm still looking for a reasonable way to achieve true auto-switching, but at the moment it can at least auto-show the input method chooser dialog after docking/undocking.

Hi, fine people,
I had a look around xda (and around the web in general), and I'd like to know if there is a patch, or at least a starting point for me to build a potential patch for fullscreen on ICS for the galaxy tab. It's quite a widespread ICS issue (I also own a Kindle, with a ICS custom firmware) and so far, I still have found no solution for theGalaxy Tab 2 7", and no comfortable solution for my Kindle.
Any idea ? or already good existing implementation like the "smart fullscreen" I found somewhere and cannot link yet as I don't have any posts on xda ?
GMD Gesture Control + root works for me. Check it out in the play store, there's a free trial as well.

CM9 has an option to allow applications to hide the statusbar.

This seems to work if the app uses the correct function call to "dim" the bar, then CM9 can hide it completely (if the option is selected in CM9). However, if the app does not do this, there is no way to force it as far as I can tell. MX Player works full screen, Perfect Viewer does not.
I'm hoping to find a way to force it so Perfect Viewer will work full screen, like in CM7.
I recently installed Cyanogenmod 10 onto my S3 and it was brilliant. Everything I wanted from a rom, except the motions. I liked the Touchwiz motion controls and the screen controls (like taking a screenshot with a swipe or tapping the top of the phone to get to the top of a list). Is there an app out there or a rom similar to Cyanogenmod 10 with the added touchwiz-style functions?

I am on samsung galaxy s3 International build with cyanogenmod 10.1 Nightly version of 28th June 2013. I love the mod but these are the shortcomings I face:
1. Settings does not have the motion "menu" due to which I am not sure how to calibrate the gyroscope etc. Its all off.
2. Due to reason one My google maps navigation is misguided.
3. I am unable to send contacts via normal sms. A lot of my family members use normal phones which cannot understand vcf or don't have net so sending contacts is painstaking as I have to copy paste each detail to a text.
If anyone knows how to solve these issues do let me know. If not then atleast let me know what is a proper place to ask them ... maybe guide me to a complaint/suggestions section of cyanogenmod community of devs.
Hey,
I've still got my forum training wheels on, and so I'll just put this Q here (rather than the directly related thread).
I've seen a few people ask this, but haven't yet found a conclusive answer.
I use my TF with this ROM and think it's great, not had any issues to speak of. However, I did love the HC/ICS (4.1) screen layout, where the notifications were in the bottom right along with the clock etc. There was no status bar at the top and Nav buttons were in the lower left. My question is... Is it possible to get this back, whilst still using the 4.2 ROM?
Hopefully somebody knows the answer....
I understand that this would require 4.1 launcher to be ported to 4.2, but I could be wrong.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
I have that tablet running that ROM, but I've gotten used to 4.2 and haven't looked for a way to change it.
You should ask this in the TF101 forums.
I'm not sure how much a launcher could really do, but I'd Google "get back tablet layout in 4.2" or something to start checking it out on my own.
I'm not sure this is that easy. I use Apex launcher on that tablet and ROM and the layout doesn't change. I'm thinking that's a deeper layer than a launcher works with. I think you'd need a ROM with that baked in.

Hi Pennycake,
Thanks for the reply!
I've done lots of forum and Google hunting, but had little success...!
I've no grumbles using the phablet style layout. I just think that it was neater having everything on the navbar (tablet style).
I'll keep on looking and maybe stumble over something.
Cheers
Impossible...!?
So this is looking like it's not really possible without work being done to the SystemUI.
Withing the Eos Control Centre (This comes as part of the TeamEOS 4 ROM for TF101), there is a tablet option, but this leaves the status bar at the top.
I'll keep digging, but i won't hold my breath!!
Case closed...
Sweeeetttt...!!!
News just in...

Well yeah, we still have the code for tabletUI in EOS4 too.
Just that it has not been updated at all and is completely out of sync with all the EOS specific modifications, so most likely will crash.
But I might have a look at either bringing TabletUI back or implementing a new navbar from scratch to go with the phabletui.
That way we get rid of the navbar lag.
I'm also hopping that having to dig through the code even more with cornerstone, I could spot something.
But I've been thinking more and more about rewriting part of the window manager.
The original google code is Sh*t, and the more I look at it the more I come to the conclusion that PhabletUI is not made to work correctly on big screen / tablets.
On top of that code there's the EOS customizations which just make things more complex.
With cornerstone it's adding another spaghetti layer on top of the google spaghetti pile.
So yeah *headache*.
But yep I would say that the way PA has done it and rewriting part of the window manager & policy is the good approach.
Maybe I'll just resume work on Phubuntu instead too, and make a real multiboot that doesn't require flashing all the time.
We might benefit more from that, and it will have multiwindow support
Ahh so many things and so little time ;P

Problems with nightly ROM 111
I have a TF101 and finally decided to root and install the JB ROM. I started with EOS JDQ39 Nightly 108 and gapps_4.2.2_TF101_20130323b. This worked fine but when I updated to the nightly 111 I noticed that I Google play was not working. I would click on the app and it would start to load but disappear. It appears that I am not logged in anymore because gmail does not work either. I have tried to delete data from the gmail app and google play store from settings but the did not work. I have tried installing gapps again. Does not work. I tried another gapps, gapps-jb-20130301-signed and that just freezes my tablet on the EeePad screen.
Any ideas on how to get signed in on the tablet without a factory reset?
Hi fellows,
I have been running cm 10.1 on my note N7000 for some time now after using stock touchwiz before that. CM is really great but I'm missing S-pen related productivity apps on it. Since, they are apps like other apps on the phone so can anyone please give me the apk for these applications?
Also, can we install premium suite on it for additional features from note 2?if so, please share the link for installing that add well.
Much thanks in advance for the help.
I guess you're new... You cant install Touchwiz based apps on CM, Paranoid Android, AOSP, AOKP etc, because they need Samsung framework.
Yeah it's tough but you need to choose.
buddy u have certain alternatives to samsung spen apps.
although the exact functionality cant be replicated but still, they do the job perfectly.
the top Spen apps available are
1- GMD SPEN Gestures control app
2- GMD Gesture Control
3- GNote - a note taking app available in XDA
4 - Jotter - a premium note taking app available in Play Store
5- Some other SNote alternatives like Asus Note, Notespad mobile, Memo(although there are a few versions to this also by different developers), and many more to name a few here
If u just want to pick urself, I would suggest you go to Play store and just search for Spen or similar...
U'll have heaps of results.
PS- by the way the newer builds of certain ROMS based on AOSP have Stylus gestures incorporated into them ...
try them out...
regards and good luck
Thanks guys. I feared that but was hoping I might be wrong. So, either I'll have to go back to touch wiz or choose from the alternatives suggested above. Much appreciated your help.
