Official EMBRYO 6 Q and A thread. Please post your questions here - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

This is the dedicated thread for all "general" non "development" or non "mod" related questions.
Alot of work has gone into this ROM and thank you to Samsung for releasing it and all the work mohan put into this to refine and tweak it further. Only development questions should go in the original thread below, this cannot be stressed enough to avoid clutter
Please refer to the original thread found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074328
Please before posting any questions of any kind read and reread the first 5 posts on page 1 which cover install instructions and troubleshooting in post #5 of common issue that Datron is maintaining very nicely for us. If you have a general question then the question would go here.
Please refer to the thread below for any "mod" related questions which involve themes, fonts, icons, special or inverted apps or anything else that would fall into the "modification" category.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082700
For any questions please post them in that thread that xcrazy also started for us.
Let's not annoy our devs who have put a lot of effort so we can benefit from their work and respect their wishes by not clogging up threads. Thank you.

Thanks for this.

Question!!! Do the PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg files need to be a certain length? I've tried several different sounds but none of them work for some reason. Never had this issue before so I'm kinda baffled.
Sent from Outer Space

Noob question... how do you install themes? Like inverted mms and etc.?
Yes I did say it is a noob question so don't start flaming.

Thanks. I've never had an issue replacing those before, but then again I never paid much attention to size either.
I just checked their sizes and one is 28kb and the other is 171kb. They should be working. Idk.

For anyone having ROM Freezing after launcher install and maybe other freezing issues. Try the following:
Go to: ROMCustomizer>settings>LockScreen Options>Selected"" HorizontalLockscreen""
Seems this ticker box is a solution to several issues...
Do you think, Maybe Horizontal Lockscreen should be automatically checked marked in future updates, or at least it should be included in the post flash procedure for every one to see?

Sounds good to me but as the ROM is refined there may be no need to tick or untick a box in future updates. Mohan will take care of it I am sure.
For those with launcher issues On EMBRYO, please post your solutions and questions here. Here is a starter to troubleshoot, a procedure to install a launcher other than Touchwiz that eliminates freezing and having to reinstall the ROM after trying to switch to another launcher:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36598518&postcount=1027

Can someone make a flashable zip of the flash bar?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that you needed to set permissions on the files to get them to work but I don't recall what the permissions were.

only thing that comes to mind is the radio, make sure you have the right one. i haven't seen anybody with apn problems on embryo6 that can't save manually. i checked mine and i can save diff apn, im on ucll3

Wow. Just wow. The whole problem was my file explorer. Xplore is what I was using, and even though it was given the right root permissions it apparently wouldn't do its job. Root Explorer did the trick.

Ok, there are a few options.
1. If you can't save the apn after you put all the info manually (name, apn, mmsc, mms, etc) that means you have a bad dl or flush, the rom should let you save.
2. If you can save the apn but after you save it you can't select it, that means you have the wrong info, when you have the wrong info it doesn't stick.
3. The last thing try uclk4.
I hope it helps, I've had the same issue with skyics, I was setting up the apn with the wrong info.

I could've sworn I stated it keeps asking to update...Maybe I wasn't clear, I've updated it 10 times but nothing. I've uninstalled 3 times and reinstalled and nothing. I know Samsung is experiencing issues with their servers, initially that's the same issue alot of us Note users had. Someone was able to post the correct version of Kies (exe file), but can't seem to be happening for the skyrocket.
Edit the registry, remove kies entries, reboot, reinstall
See how that does

First off if you and everyone else who posted and or replied would've read the OP, you would've seen what I was asking. FYI child I ain't no kid, one simple question was asked and idiots like you reply the wrong way. So first off if you want to be helpful I'd change the way you approach or reply to people's comments and do some reading. You do know how to read right? Not trying to be rude or be an asshole by saying so but many people on here think they big and bad, when in the "Real" world they nothing but scrubs. Again one simple question was asked, but people need to take the time to read before looking like jackasses and replying with something not even close to the original question asked.

Kies_2.3.2.12054_20_1 google search for that version, it will want to update so let it.
i though it was a problem so i uninstall'd my kies then installed this did the update and all is working as it should.
so i can confirm this ver works on a win 7 x64 if it still wants to update after updating it then there is something wrong with your computer,
give it a try.

it says nothing on the post about needing ICS for this to work, maybe double check your permissions using the ES file explorer. did you read the ENTIRE thread? also how did you try to get it to work? did you try to launch the widget? i would try to install it myself but i'm at work for another 3 hours and have a business meeting afterwords. re-read the thread maybe something was missed

Well when it's installing it clearly states Google Now for ICS, altho the thread itself doesn't necessarily mention it... followed all the instructions to the T, no Google Now in my apps, and certainly no widget to add either.
This thread appears to confirm requirement of ICS as well: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...528-google-now-thunderbolt-flashable-zip.html

I have to agree with the op. Threads not in development get overlooked quickly. They fall of the radar fast. I have a way to do this on stock TW without flashing files and going back to your back up, etc. But just like this guy, getting bashed for the wrong area, I'm apprehensive about posting my results. Is the fix app related? Development? General? Depends on who you talk to. Once I get a solid answer from a moderator, I will post my finds.
EDIT: I feel personally the fix should go in development. A lot of people are asking for this in all the ROMs.

Some people may be stock rooted. May not have custom recovery. They may be happy with stock just want the nagging screen on to go away. That's all I'm doing is tweaking the stock ROM. Just FYI.

I think this may be a solution.. haven't confirmed it yet tho.
flash whatever mb1 rom you want
download apn backup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore&hl=en
backup your apn, install multiwindow, then restore apn?
I've read its some hex edits that need to be done to the multiwindow zip for verizon, so i'm not sure if this will work

Most of the smali codes are the same in both ROMs but some resource IDs are slightly different (search for 0x1040***), that might be the reason why some function are not working.

It works...however I did experience the same problems others have mentioned. You can always make a nandroid and give it a shot you might get lucky and not have the same issues.
Minor/Major Issue
On CR6 R2, clean install, no other mods at the time - this broke MMS. SMS worked fine but couldn't send a picture (alert was "invalid destination address"). Dirty flashed CR6 R2 over the top and that cleared MMS up so I figured I'd try again, no joy. Same issue. I also had the same problem as the others with Global Roaming data issue. Too bad, looked very, very cool..
Sorry, should have also noted I'm on Verizon -

Exact same issues here. This is the last mod I will ever need on my CR6r2 (AOSP theme 1.9), as I surprisingly found it quite useful when I was on GalaxyMOD and JellyBeans build 9.

Just download the ROM and open it and find the build.prop file and copy the original config.
That is what I did those tweaks just made things laggy and slow where as everything was fine before. yeah apps reload after opening a few apps but they open fast.
I will wait for the real fix.
Here you go.
thanks! i actually ended up finding it in the rom but I'm sure others may be in my boat as well. these settings really don't help. make the phone laggy as hell

Normally, when you are modifying something or removing it, you make a copy of it somewhere you if you need to put it back, you have it at your fingertips.
