there is a thread started to get google now on devices through a flashable zip. i looked up a list of devices for the ARMv7 Architecture and appears that the thunderbolt is one of them!

Installed and nada, zip, zilch. Then again, I'm not running an ICS ROM right now which I believe is a requirement. Will try again after I find a stable ROM.

it says nothing on the post about needing ICS for this to work, maybe double check your permissions using the ES file explorer. did you read the ENTIRE thread? also how did you try to get it to work? did you try to launch the widget? i would try to install it myself but i'm at work for another 3 hours and have a business meeting afterwords. re-read the thread maybe something was missed

Well when it's installing it clearly states Google Now for ICS, altho the thread itself doesn't necessarily mention it... followed all the instructions to the T, no Google Now in my apps, and certainly no widget to add either.

Yes, this is the first time someone actually wants CityID. It's the only thing stopping me from applying the latest update.zip. I've been searching for quite a few hours to no success. Every search I've tried to find the stock CityID app has only led to how to remove it. These all would have been helpful to see before I deleted it through Titanium rather than renaming it. The couple of installs I found have been for other phones, none of which have allowed me to bypass the step in Recovery. Would anyone kindly upload the stock CityID, or even point me in the direction of it. I'm assuming I can just place it back in /system/app/ correct?
I'll add my request to this as well so this topic stays near the top!
I'm also stuck at this error trying to install the new update.zip! I've been doing searches as well and haven't been able to find CityID.apk anywhere!
I'm also assuming that you can just do an adb push of the apk back into the /system/app directory.... fingers crossed!
Try the HeyItsLouFroyo Rom thread in the dev section. He has a zip file of removed apps. Didn't look. But I think it's in there since he said he removed it.

open the apk up (7zip or winrar) and snag the .png/.jpegs

Turns out it wasn't the apk I thought it was. I've since tried about 8-10 apk's and have come up short. Any idea which apk it is that has the wallpapers in it?

Has anyone gotten the ICS gmail and/or ICS browser apps to work on the kindle fire? I tried with CM7 without success, using apks that i found on various threads here on xda.

I am currently using MIUI-MIUI.us_blaze_4.0.3-2.2.10 and it works pretty well for only being in its' alpha stages. It lacks hardware acceleration, (netflix, youtube, etc.), but it is updated frequently and is relatively stable and easy to install. You should give it a go man.
Edit: App I suggested doesn't work on the Fire.
I've gone to the link provided in the txt message sent my AT&T and downloaded Kies, but it keeps asking for it to update...I uninstalled and reinstalled and no luck. Anyone have the correct ICS Kies exe they can post?

I could've sworn I stated it keeps asking to update...Maybe I wasn't clear, I've updated it 10 times but nothing. I've uninstalled 3 times and reinstalled and nothing. I know Samsung is experiencing issues with their servers, initially that's the same issue alot of us Note users had. Someone was able to post the correct version of Kies (exe file), but can't seem to be happening for the skyrocket.
Edit the registry, remove kies entries, reboot, reinstall
See how that does

Unfortunately that is the correct file. I'd try a complete uninstall and reg sweep, reboot, reinstall. Seems something borked during the setup.

Ya many people had the same issues updating their Note's, someone though posted the exe file and it worked... just need to verify the correct version for the Skyrocket and i can update the Kiesversion.txt file to the correct one to see if it works.

that info is on my sticky in general, if going from ics to ics it seems to not wipe data, going back to gb is a hit or miss, usually a miss. but i need more confirmation on this

First off if you and everyone else who posted and or replied would've read the OP, you would've seen what I was asking. FYI child I ain't no kid, one simple question was asked and idiots like you reply the wrong way. So first off if you want to be helpful I'd change the way you approach or reply to people's comments and do some reading. You do know how to read right? Kies_2.3.2.12054_20_1 google search for that version, it will want to update so let it.
i though it was a problem so i uninstall'd my kies then installed this did the update and all is working as it should.
so i can confirm this ver works on a win 7 x64 if it still wants to update after updating it then there is something wrong with your computer,
give it a try.
I don't really want Google now.. Is there a way to just get universal search back on g7 roms? I don't suppose copying the search apk from an older rom would work would it?

Some ROMs have it incorporated, especially JB ROMs. Is there somethine preventing you from using a different ROM?
I haven't found one I really like... is there no other way?

I honestly do not know. If I had to hazard a guess I would say it is possible, but your best bet would probably be to ask on that particular development thread so the developers can answer.

I'm not rooted, so I just keep a copy of the apk on my SDcard and whenever I reboot I just reinstall the apk.
