[Q] - Random Wifi Shut-Offs And Problem Turning Back On - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

One day my skyrocket started acting up. I have the AT&T version. what happens is The wifi could be working perfectly fine then when i let it sleep and then wake it the wifi is on and sometimes turns right back on and connects and other times it won't turn on, even when I try to manually. I've tried going back to pure stock, ICS Stock, and tried custom roms and it's all the same. Sometimes on first boot the wifi won't even turn on. Then sometimes when I'm out of wifi Range I turn it off and when I come back and try to switch it on it says "Wifi turning on.." then the toggle goes back to off but it still says that. Sometimes when the phone is in use, screen on, I could be browsing the web or on facebook and it shuts off and won't come back on. This has nothing to do with the Power Saving mode, I never touched that setting and I checked and it's set to "Always." So what could it be? It gets extremely frustrating. someone please help me :l
I searched the forums before I posted, I know this may fall into the development category but I couldn't post there..

when you say pure stock, do you mean you odin'ed back to stock? i'm no expert but if you've had the same issues on pure stock rom, custom roms it sounds as though it may be a hardware issue.

Well yes odin'd back, & also used kies through download/recovery mode. well the custom roms it does it on are all stock based... well I had installed MIUI but idk If it had done it on there. this issue is very frustrating..

i realized last night that the bluetooth does it too, so if it's a hardware problem does that mean the motherboard could be bad, not the actual components?

Sense ROMs are screwy with display settings

This isnt an issue with just one particular Sense ROM, but i found it to be so with most... if not all, possibly. If you use the AUTO setting, then this does not apply. Whats happening for instance, at night i like to turn the brightness all the way down. It stays that way until the screen goes off. Once you turn it back on again, the screen is bright... again, and it shows that its set all the way down so to fix you have to turn it up, then back down again. Then the process repeats all over again. Im not sure whats going on and obviously since i try different ROMs regularly(and do full wipes), its not a matter of a bad install. I wonder if this is a verified known issue and is being looked into.

[Q] MIUI Infuse Airplane mode not turning off.

I have the most recent version of MIUI for Infuse. I have correctly flashed it and everything works great. However recently Airplane mode can not be turned off. No matter what I try the only way to get it to turn off is by reboot, and if I leave it in sleep mode airplane mode turns on and stays that way. Is there a fix for this?
Yeah same here. Can not figure out what to do. I have tried several available modems and they all seem to do it. I have tried UCKD5, UCKE3, UCKJ1, UCKJ2, UCKJ4 and UXKG3 and they all seem to have the same problem. HELP
Any solution to this? Thanks!
i have the same issue. it seems that the toggle doesnt really work through the settings. restarting the phone as of now is the only way to turn it off. unfortunately for me sometimes its on for a long period of time before i noticed that its on, and i end up missing calls/texts

[Q] Team Eos ICS 1.0.0 Wifi Sleep Issue

Just installed this great rom. Definitely much snappier. Only issue I have is that the wifi does not go to sleep. Anyone else having the same issue.
Never mind. It was an app that kept the wifi on.

my dear friend can you please answer mw which was this program because im having this problem with all the latest nightlies and the 1.0.0.it has a wifi depp sleep issue and after many hous is frozen and i must rebooted with vol up+power button..i asked everybody about this problem but nobody till now told me what is going on..thanks in advance!greetings from greece..
I also have the same problem. Wifi never sleep and no apps or services are running.
This happens to everyone. Battery stats say wifi never sleeps, but it does turn off..although it seems it takes longer than on HC.
Battery life is same/better. It also goes to deep sleep.
I have not had this except when the nightlys got unstable.
did anyone try reverting back to complete factory stock (pushing factory images) and then putting eos on?
I bring this up because I got some crud lock in that factory reset and cach wipes would not clear. afterwards doing the above all was well.
also some live wallpapers and widets can be problematic.
I personally keep a unrooted untouch factory backup around to be able to start from scratch.
the eos 1.0 is rock solid for me except for a few browser crashes. I'm [email protected]

A simple solution to the wifi issues in ICS roms

So this is a nontehnical solution to fix your wifi troubles. While your phone is on, turn the wifi off and then reboot the phone. When the phone comes back the wifi will still be off but you will be able to switch it on and off. If you reboot the phone with your wifi on, then your wifi issues will come back when you turn the phone off. I've used this technique for the last two days on AOKP v2 but if all of the ICS roms are using the same kernel then this should work in every rom.

Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce this result. This method works for me and is reliable and I'm sure it can help others as well. I've tried turning the auto sync on and off and that did not help either.
I noticed that if it gets "STUCK" turning it on or off, if you wait long enough in the actual wifi settings not the notification bar or in the initial wifi settings (where it lists the available networks) you will see that the top button will eventually be able to be used. I am talking like a few minutes. Of course it would probably be quicker to restart the phone.

Which is why rebooting the phone with the wifi turned off is the simple solution for me.

cant re-enable wifi

so, earlier today i turned wifi off and after a few minutes i went to turn it back on in the pulldown menu and it flashed the green color indicating its turning on then turned almost immediately back to the color it is when its off. I then went to the settings menu and tried it there with the horizontal switch looking thing and it did the same thing. It looked like it was turning on, then went back to the off state almost immediately. I thought the wifi radio kernel might have gone corrupt for whatever reason, so i odin flashed the OK4 tar.md5 then twrp and then a fresh flash of my ROM again (MOAR7.0). It immediately started doing the exact same thing. Now, i cant imagine it being my ROM as wifi worked fine on this ROM for over a year. I just restored a nand from a month or so ago and it seems to be working fine (MOAR7.0 again) but im just curious if anyone has experienced this and if so, what causes this?
