Hey gang,
I have a unique request for a couple roms.
I ordered 2 android tablets and am currently waiting for them to arrive. Probably 2 weeks or so.
Google Android 7" Netbook Tablet PC UMPC MID 1.2GHZ
Google Android 7" notebook Netbook Tablet PC UMPC MID
I bought them to simply play with and will probably give them to family members once I am done tinkering around. They were pretty cheap so big loss if they totally suck. Once I receive them I will do a proper review on the full features of these two devices since most online reviews are sorta vague and lacking in the full specs department. Once received I will try to get to a bootloader screen and see if rooting and pushing new versions of Android is even possible. Both devices "say" they will have upgraded roms in the future, but we all know how that is . I just wanted to post here and see if any Devs wanted to try to root these things in hopes of making them more functional.
Below are the full specs that was listed for each device. Again, The specs listed are never consistent from site to site so there is no telling what each tablet will include internally.

Again, these two tablets are uber cheap. I expect them to be nothing more than what is listed above (at best). I am not expecting them to run like a unit with a Snapdragon processor ... more like a G1
All in fun ya know! Only way to learn.
If anyone is interested in having a 'remote' go at these via chat or something just shoot me an email or PM.
I will update this post when I actually receive the devices.
Later!

I wonder what the specific specs are on that 1.2ghz cpu, and if it can support flash 10.1 when it comes out or not.
On the model with the 1.2GHz CPU, the seller is actually a combining the MHz from both the "CPU600MHz+DSP600MHZ" to come up with the 1.2GHz.
It is really just a 600MHz processor :\
I will run some benchmark tests on both units though

Maybe you can provide a little review? ... Like benchmarking and stuff. Also, if you have the time, see if you can figure out different boot modes.
Different button combinations and stuff. I plan to do all this when I get mine. Just wanting to get a jump on things =)
check slatedroid.com for a community around these, including custom ROMs
I am watching this closely because I am interested in the aPad version
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280506433798&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
http://cgi.ebay.com/Apad-Super-Thin...md=ViewItem&pt=US_Tablets&hash=item3a5ae6bad5
I'm interested in picking on up too. It would pair good with my Hero, especially if I can't get my hands on a EVO 4G.
And the fact that it has slightly better specs than the Hero I don't see why it couldn't run 2.1 or even 2.2.

Will do! Good to know there are other communities out there that aren't just HTC based. (no disrespect to XDA of course)

I agree. I actually want the aPad version, but I decided to roll the dice and see what hardware the cheaper version has.
If it doesn't have the webcam, I will just sell it at my cost and get the aPad version
If I have to wait for the aPad, I'll still have the cheaper white one to play with to pass the time.
INTERESTING STUFF!
I just noticed the ePad version has 1.5 and the white one has 1.6

Correct.
The aPad (black one) has Android 1.5, but they state they will offer upgrades to the OS later because this tablet is only a few weeks old on the market.
The "Eken M001" (white one) comes stock with Android 1.6
Evidentially, there is already a ROM replacement at SlateDroid.com for the white model!
I REALLY can't wait to get both of them and do some massive testing!
FUN STUFF!
EKEN M001 off of ebay. Got 2
I just got 2 EKEN M001 for 30$ each off of ebay .. They have the same speks as the one listed here. There are many Chinese clones of the Ipad and they are at a realy good price. Now if only we can get a build of 2.2 with JIT working on them .. they will be realy great

on the slatedroid forum concerning the M001 (white version), users can not play videos, the internet is very slow and the WIFI is very weak and randomly drops the signal. Someone stated that the OS is not as refined as it appears from the videos (some sorry build of Android). I hope the reviews are better for the apad version.
Looks to me like they are a little light on memory with only 128 mb.

yea that's a problem with me, on Slatedroid forums they are trying to figure out a way to upgrade it.
Is it not possible to some how allocate some space from an SD or microsd card as ram, kind of how you can do it on a PC?

I don't think Android makes use of that. It sounds like a great app though =)

i think your talking about swap
I am looking to purchase a G Tablet to use for work to capture signatures on a pdf etc... However I was also looking at the http://www.amazon.com/Superpad-Tabl...XDEQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1300477511&sr=8-2
as I could use this as a way to program Cisco routers in the field plus do some testing on the network.
So I guess my question is which one is better.
Of course I know both will need some new ROM's and some other software added to them and whatnot. But The second one seems to me that its a bit nicer that it has a RJ45 connection on it. The reviews are pretty good for the G Tablet though. So I am not sure what to do. If it is possible to add a USB to RJ45 dongle for the G Tablet I am for sure down for that too.
So I guess what I am hoping for is that someone here has had both or knows enough about both that they can give me some input as to what would be my better choice.
Thanks,
Nathan

Be wary when you are dealing with a product that has an unnamed producer and the specs don't even tell you what kind of processor it has. Usually, these devices were pumped out super cheap in a factory in china somewhere for them to make a quick buck or two.
The other thing is we have no idea what kind of users those reviewers for the superpad are. They could be dumbasses for all we know. With the gtab, at least we know real devs have been working with it and have given it their approval.
Go with the gtab, dude.

I couldn't have said it better....
thats what i was thinking... but the thing about the superpad i like is the fact of the built in RJ45 connection to be able to telnet in to cisco switches in the field.
edit:
just found this... seems like if this generic tablet has a micro usb to rj45 connection theres gotta be a way to get it to work
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-g...3G-Camera-HDMI-1GMHz-DDR-512-wholesalers.html
I just went through those reviews at the link you gave us. Sure, there's lots of 4-5 stars. But the reviews are not helpful at all. Single phrase reviews are useless when we're dealing with something like this.
I'd rather spend $350 on something I know that works and have lots of dev support.
I'm sorry, but I'm not very trusting of these so-called companies in China. I've known too many people who got scammed by them. Here's the thing. If something happens, what are you going to do? They're sitting all the way in China. How are you going to get them to honor their warranty or send you replacement?
Processor Type: ZT-180 not support android honeycomb 3.0. If it isn't important, a variant under the reference above the best.
But even in this case I would pay attention on archos 101
Slatedroid has an entire section devoted to the Superpad/Flytouch 2 .
Alot of information and reviews by people who actually own and use the tablet.
There is also a Small Business Section on their with a shop named BuyADroid. They carry the tablet and have supplied alot of members their with tablets, very reliable and shipping times aren't too bad either.
But if you want info on the superpad, slatedroid is the place to start looking.
Just came across this news that a laptop named Doel running Android has been produced in Bangladesh...and its running Android.
Here are the specs:
Doel 2102
10.0″ LCD Panel
(1024*600)
VIA 8650 800MHz
512 MB RAM
Integrated 0.3 MP
Webcam
WiFi 802.11b/g
2 USB 2.0
SD Slot for Max 32 GB
Google Android
Integrated
Price- $130
News Source: http://techspyre.com/doel-a-laptop-for-130-made-in-bangladesh/
Interesting, that price is about one month salary for the average worker. Compare that to here (USA) a computer is 3-4 days of an average workers salary. I great start to helping the 8th largest population to become digital
there are lots of those similar ones on deal extreme
all of those android "laptops" are more a Netbook than an actual laptop.
I hope they open it for the international market...may be at a higher price so that the government can further subsidize the local price and make it more affordable

But see it is something huge for a country like Bangladesh...
If it's any good and doesn't have any mjaor problems, i would buy one.
here's a semi decent one like the one OP mentioned
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/7-resi...c-with-wifi-tf-hdmi-white-arm-cortex-a9-67193
again only 512 RAM, froyo, ARM 9, 4GB internal, 7" screen, sd card slot, 3.5mm Audio,2 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI, Earphone, power adapter included
another one http://www.dealextreme.com/p/8-touc...d-2-2-tablet-pc-w-wifi-tf-arm-v9-800mhz-70508
8" instead
Getting one of these is something that I need to look into
i've been keeping my eyes on many of those
waiting for a dual core model to pop up
Screw it and get a decent tablet and a blue tooth keypad, I love my gtab and with all the development going on I can have anew device in a few mins .
IM looking for a cheap but rather reliable pad for a 10yo and occasionally a 4-5yo
I would buy one, thats a heck of a deal for the average user.
Resistive screens are terrible unfortunately otherwise it's pretty decent.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
I think that is a good price for something like that. but what is the HD space? and you cant do much of anything major with 512MB ram but its probably a descent piece of harware
Again I'd like to stress that there are scores of such tabs already available, but it is something big and commendable for a developing nation like Bangladesh.
Hi, first .Please forgive my poor english. I will do my best to explain my problem.
In my long searches on the net for a good decent price chinese tablet to use on my laptop side, I noticed that there is always something missing : If the ram is enough than it can not adress more than 16GB or 32GB, if it can, than there is no GPS, if there is, than the camera is crap and if it has more than three of the above it can cost a fortune. and I can go on for ever.
I am looking for good tablet that can act as a laptop Substitute\fill in, that has : 2GB ram preferably more on the 3GB or 4GB direction, can adress at least 64GB or 128GB memory card, and\or an external hard drive, 9.7 -10.5 inch screen size, all the usual input out ports : USB 3, hdmi, ext, BT ,wifi, 3g, if there can be dual boot OK, quad or octa core cpu, can be software upgradable (yes, this is an issue with some devices).
didnt find anything that came even close. and I am willing to spend around $480
Perhaps I daemand to much, and there is no device that can do most of what I want ?
I would very much appreciate any answer that can direct my in the right direction.
Thank you.
Y.

It could definitely be a Surface 3 killer assuming the user experience doesn't suck.
This thread will be updated as more info, reviews, unboxings and questions come in.
I've been looking forward to this device. My only problem with it is I haven't seen any decent keyboard docks that aren't just flimsy foldable cases for any of the X98 line.
Its on sale on Tinydeal too.

I will have to buy it from here since aliexpress does not ship to my country.
Heard that they will release a dual boot android/10 down there road.
Any truth to this? if so i will hold tight for that.

had it open in a tab i hadn't got to yet.

*EDIT2*
People seem to think that the dual boot is just a software flash/upgrade away. And that you wouldn't have to actually buy a different model.
This would make me pull the trigger on it.
What do you guys think?

Any thoughts on JustusIV question on this?? I am in the same position, ready to hit the "preorder" button if anybody could indicate if this would be "dual-bootable" after a software upgrade and not beeing a hardware issue?

According to the official Teclast website this is a Windows only tablet. I could not find any mention of dual-boot. Also, at the link I posted earlier it seems to be in Stock, not just pre-order.
cant wait for it to deliver!
hey all i just bought this tablet. I really don't care if it has dual boot on it or not. I have been testing out an emulator called DROID4X and it is absolutely amazing. Its extremely fast once you get it downloaded of course (slow download). I ran a bunch of benchmarks and scored higher than any other system. so the emulator works really good. very stable, and all the games Ive played on it so far work perfectly.
I scored 83,000 on ice storm unlimited.
114,000 on antutu.
8.926 seconds on 10,000,000 pi.
of course I'm running this all on an oc 4790k build but even if the z8500 can do 30% of that ill be fine. If they get dual boot working on it even better. Until then the emulator works perfect. i would score higher but my system isn't optimized to run android. I actually ran android off of boot able USB and it was horribly slow. i might snag another ssd to install it because i don't want to fragment my windows ssd. that's one concern i have about the dual boot. can anyone chime in on how well the system will separate the files for dual boot? what if you need to reinstall windows or reset android?
That's amazing. have you tried PS2 emulators (or gamecube)?
Greetings my friends! Any way to clone dump the eMMC to an external backup drive, USB Flash Drive (Pen drive) or microSD Card?
I need to backup everything including Windows and Android boot partitions, data partitions, recovery partitions before doing anything on the tablet.
Thanks!
