[Q] Xperia Live with Walkman - Rooting and Unrooting

Dear all,
I have a SE Xperia live with Walkman, and i need to root my device to remove some unwanted bundled apps which pre-installed with the device when i purchased it.
It was previously locked by a carrier (I think telenor-norway) and now its operator unlocked.
its boot-loader status says :
bootloader unlock allowed : No.
- Can i root this device using Doomlord's tool kit?
- If i rooted this device, can i get OTA firmware updates from SE?
- Can i gain access to android market to get apps?
- How to unroot a rooted device?
I m very new to android and pls help me to solve my questions.
Thank You.
i would also like to ask this before diving in to rooting my Live with Walkman

Bootloader unlock allowed : No ??? (it means that bootloader is already unlocked)
Now,
1.) Yes, you can use the DoomLord kit *IF* you are on the .58 fw...if you are not..downgrade to .58 and then use it...
here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
2.) Yes, you can get OTA updates with root...but if your Bootloader is unlocked...you cannot download OTA updates...BUT no worries..
you can always flash the new firmwares manually using flashtool.. here is the tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
3.) Ofcourse you can! As long as you have a google account and you link it to your phone (you need Wifi/Mobile data for this)..its easy..and you can download any app thats compatible with your phone..
4.) there is a link in the first post by DoomLord about unrooting..anyways..here it is :

BEST OF LUCK...Rooting is the way to be different & better...

Simplier solution to your problem
Requirements:
1. Updated FTF which matches your phone. (refer below for the reference and file source) Don't forget to thank (click thanks) on the writer.
2. Open bootloader.
3. Flashtool
4. Modded stock kernel for LWW; pre-rooted with CWM.
You can download and flash the latest firmware then open your bootloader (on your case it already is), enter fastboot then update kernel (stock) with the
stock kernel modded with root+CWM.
Point here and read over carefully. Then head over section XX. Downloads and choose your phone model and the version you like to have. For me i use 0.62 OFW for Wt19i, choose carefully between Wt19i and wt19a. If you choose/ flash the wrong ROM it mess up your baseband so be careful.
After that, your phone will be rooted with CWM. No nasty long hard to follow tuts to follow.
I want to root directly

[Q] Rooting Sony Xperia L always fails whereas Bootloader unlock is allowed

Hello everyone,
I know this question have been discussed a looooot of times, but I'm still unable to achieve what I want.
So, I'm trying to root my Sony Xperia L, bought in Western Europe 1 month ago. I tried a lot of tutorials found on this website, like this one or this one, or Framaroot's one (I always have Error #7 with Gandalf's or Aragorn's exploit, don't know why...)
I also tried some other tutos found over the Internet, but it always fails.
Here is my config :
Sony Xperia L
Model : C2105
Android version : 4.1.2
Build number : 15.0.A.2.17
When I type *#*#7378423#*#* in dialer, I can see my rooting status : "Bootloader unlock allowed", so I have hope.
Can someone help me ?
Thanks a lot !

Those two files work everytime on .17 although newer firmware is out and once that is installed, you need a different root method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503448 that works for the new firmware and might work for .17 as well
It has nothing to do with locked bootloaders your just using old tools that don't work on .17
I used this from DooMLoRD and works every time. However I'm not sure if this works with the latest firmware!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2366579
I just try the "Chinese version" described here : here
No error during install, I was able to finish the tuto ( !! )
The Kinguser app is installed but the RootChecker app tells me I'm not root... And I don't seem everything new on my phone, what's wrong ... ?
And about this tuto, the console displays
error: unknown host service
adb server is out of date. killing...
ADB server didn't ACK
But the SuperSU is installed at the end of the process.
I'm probably stupid, but I'm a C# developper (don't kill me !) and I never touch Androïd system before today, but how can I be sure I have root access ? Or how can I try to give root access to an app ?

During what process you got this ?
Have you unlocked the bootloader ?
Or Flashed something ?
If No then Install Sony Update Service ( SUS ) on your PC. I recommend Windows XP OS on PC for doing this process.
Choose your device in the Software and it will install firmware again in your device and your device will get refreshed completely.
Go Here --> http://www.sonymobile.com/in/tools/update-service/
If you have your bootloader unlocked.
Try flashing the stock firmware using Flashtool.
Here I give you the complete guide for this. Download the firmware .FTF and follow the installation guide.

here is screenshot, when xperia e c1504 is connected to my pc
So now Use SUS or Flash the stock firmware directly usinf the Flashtool.
LOL Trust me it will work. It will just refresh your whole system.
Whenever you are flashing your stock firmware it doesn't matter whether your bootloader is locked or unlocked.
And next time research on the apps which effect hardware before installing them that whether they are compatible with your device or not.

Why? Why did you?
It does not work on E.
The exact same thing happened to me too when I installed Pimp My Beats (beats audio).
I fixed it through SUS.
But you can simply flash the stock FTF using Flashtool, they're available for download on xda. A simple search will lead you there.

[UPDATED] 05/12/2014 [ROM] Multilingual + Root + gapps ROM for Lenovo Sisley S90U

Hi,
Following this steps you can have root, gapps and aditional languages in your Lenovo Sisley S90U (Unicom version). NOT TESTED in S90T or S90A versions, maybe works or maybe cause a system failure in these versions.
Thanks to Fazettit, He found the ROM.
1 - Download and install Lenovo driver 1.09, from attached files, in your PC.
2 - Donwload http://www.needrom.com/download/lenovo-s90u/ and unrar this files in your PC. Need to register in web to download.
3 - Enable USB debugging option in advanced/developer options in your sisley.
4- Power on your phone and stay in main screen. Connect USB cable to Lenovo Sisley and wait for detection and driver installation in your PC. When connect the cable select USB debugging (ADB) mode, sliding down the notifications bar and selecting the USB item. If get a pop up regarding to Allow USB debugging authorization, tick "Always Allow from this computer." and press OK.
5 - Run Lenovo_S90u.cmd in the extracted folder. A CMD window will open and detect S90U device, press ENTER key in your PC keyboard, the process will auto start.
6- Wait for the process to complete, do not remove USB cable or power off PC or phone, your Lenovo can be damaged/bricked.
7 - When flashing process finish, the phone will auto restart with new ROM image.
Regards!.
Thanks to Fazettit!.

installable old firmware searched
Same for me - none of the root tools work. Maybe because of newer firmware.
Does someone has an older firmware (OTA as zip) which can be installed ?
Ok guys,
I attached to this reply a zip with 2 new tools just arrived from china ?. Seems to work in your new firmwares. The tools are Vroot 1.7.9.9 and 360 Root 5.20. Test the first one and if fail use the second. The procedure is the same than first post. Uninstall previous vroot version prior to install the new one.
Share with me the results please.

Unfortunately, its still not working i cant run 360root because it requires chines OS. No luck with Vroot....
These chinese root tools are so frustrating.....
I can't undestand why is not working for your versions, we can try a different solution, the mobile standalone versions. I attached the mobile versions of iroot (vroot) and 360 root.
Enable install from external sources option in S90 and install the apk. Run it and push root.
Test rootmastersu.apk first and later permroot.apk if the fitst don't work.

Yes! Thank you very much for your support Ethan.
Unfortunately all the rooting tools are still not working. Most likely because the firmware of the S90 is to new.
Most rooting tools use an exploit which has been fixed after July 2014.
The VIBEUI_V2.0_1446_3.18.1_ST_S90-u which is running on my devices is from November 2014 -> "old" root methods don't work.
If I'm right you should NOT update the firmware if you like to get root.
What firmware are you using Ethan ? (System->About phone->Device information->Build number)
Thank you very much for trying to help us!
The new tools don't work for me as well.
The root programs might work for 4.4.2 but not 4.4.4. So don't upgrade if you like to have root.
I still have a last chance from shenzen tecnologies attached... You can try it, I will get a new unit with firmware updated to do some tests.

Hi Ethan80, thanks for your kind help. Hope that this version supports 4.4.4...previous versions support 4.4.2 only. I'll test as soon I can download it. In 4.4.4 the security holes of 4.4.2 have been fixed.

The download worked for me, but ROOTGenius doesn't work with my device...so I guess we'll have to wait until you can test with the updated firmware or new root tools are released. But thank you very much!!!

i´ve get an update to VIBEU_V2.0_1446_3.18.1_ST_S90-u but i didnt install. Because maybe a method came for the older version
For the people without root. You can use the app "more locale 2" for more language without root access. You take the way with Cmd method
I have good news, I have now a tool to auto flash my custom ROM image with languages root and gapps to a s90U version. I will upload and explain here, however if anyone want to use it before send me a private mesage and I will send you the links and the instructions.

Phone stuck in bootloop after update to nougat

Hey everyone,
Yesterday I installed the new 32.3.A.0.376 update on my 100% Stock Z5 (E6653) via the xperia companion.
After the update it was stuck in a bootloop (crashes and restarts shortly after the android animation finishes)
Here is the full timeline:
Update via xperia companion -> bootlop
Remove SD Card and SIM -> bootlop
Repair via xperia companion -> bootloop
Second repair via xperia companion -> bootloop
Flash Nougat with the flashtool -> bootloop
Flash latest non-nougat firmware -> it boots!
This time I did the update to nougat via OTA -> bootloop
Flash different nougat firmare via flashtool -> bootloop
Back to marshmallow...
Factory reset & Install update via xperia companion on a different computer -> bootloop
Install marshmallow, factory reset & Install ota update -> bootloop
So basically i tried every possible combination of installing the update without unlocking the bootloader or other things that might void warranty. It just won't boot!
What do you guys think might be the cause for this? And what can i try to get nougat working on my device before sending it in for a repair? Thanks!
how about cables? have you tried using different usb cables? how about non sony cables? or any other authentic original cable! like samsung usb2 ?
Cables? Sounds more like voodoo too me I mean I did the whole thing without any cables attached, too (OTA).

when you tried all these possible combinations of flashtool, MM, N, repairs via sony pc suite etc even on different computer,
my question is did you add trying different usb cable in all this process?
and when you say you have tried different version N, can you be specific what build you tried?

I flashed 32.3.A.0.376-R4D and 32.3.A.0.376-R5D (one is with provider customization, one without).
And I just tried it with a different cable on a different usb port. But I'm afraid it's still the same result.

To answer your questions:
1. I currently don't have one but I do not recall any errors appearing in the logs.
2. I'm using windows 10 and yes, drivers were installed correctly (by booting the system with signature checks disabled)
3. I did successfully flash marshmallow (32.2.A.5.11) multiple times after the failed nougat update.
4. My version of flashtools matches 0.9.23.2
I tried to update the the phone multiple time using official tools (OTA, xperia companion) before resorting to flashtool.
This, and the fact that flashtool works well otherwise, means the issue is with my device and/or the update itself and not with flashtool.
Is it possible to get some log files out of the device to see what's causing the crash?

after asking so many questions and reading all your answers ! i feel like saying i wish i could get hold of your device to see what actually got wrong in OTA flashing!
the reason why ask all these question is that it happend with my friends Z1 years ago when by simply updating to news OTA , device got stuck in bootloop! and the only thing he could do is unlock the bootloader and installed cynogenmod. at that time i could not find any possible reason why this has happend!
the ultimate solution for you could be unlocking boot loader OR wait until we get some sense on the internet about this issue! ( i will research more)
btw, I always flash my device on win7 64bit. if possilbe try flashing via win7 , just in case.
also i couldn't help thinking , it might have something to do with FSC script! even on the flashtool download page! they have mention how few devices get bricked if flashtool is used! but then you tried updating via xperia companion also!

Yeah, I already feared that this would be the only solution :crying:
Next week I'm gonna try to get a refund/replacement, so let's see how that goes first before I unlock the bootloader.
Thanks for your help though!

to be honest there is nothing wrong with your device! you had rooted 5.11 easily! this means the stock android .372 or .376 having N kernel is not working properly with your hardware!
if you are replacing your device then no need to unlock your bootloader! unless u want rooted phone!
REMEMBER to research all about DRM KEYS and TA backups before you even think about unlocking in your dream.

When you were making .ftf ,did you delete fwinfo and exclude .ta files ?
If not, that can lead to bootloop.
Hey guys, I just want to give you a quick update on the issue:
Last week I brought my phone to a local retailer, they sent it in and today I received a completely new device with Android 7.0 pre-installed!
So it seems like the issue was covered by warranty.
All in all I'm surprised how smooth everything went.
And thanks to everyone who tried to help me here!
