I have a HTC Design 4G. I unlocked it with the HTCDEV. So now its unlocked. But I'd like to take it to Virgin Mobile, but you have to have their software on your phone. Does anyone know how I can install/Where I can find, the Virgin Mobile software so I can get this thing up and going? It SHOULD be the same network. But I'm new the Android Modding I was a iPhone Mod'r for a few years, but androids are an entirely different ball game.
I have an HTC dev unlocked design. Its still
s-on which means security on. I still don't have root for it. There is root for the non sprint design. So until its s-off I don't think u can get the msl code to change carriers. If I'm wrong please help(devs) me. :banghead:

Not sure how you did it, or even if I still have S-Lock but HTCDEV is how I just did mine.
htcdev dot c o m - bootloader - unlock-instructions
Maybe that will help you.

HTC is releasing their own version of the unlocker. I'm a bit confused of the difference between the two. Which will be better?

Revolutionary is better for sure. Do you want to give HTC record of your unlock and grounds to automatically deny your warranty claim for clear hardware issues? I sure don't. I'd rather they have no idea that I'm unlocked.

Does Revolutionary have the ability to relock the bootloader? Because once you unlock it your warranty is void no matter what. So this would be a major factor in determining which way to go. I would like to know as I just purchased my sensation yesterday.
Now on a side note I rooted my N1 just after it released. It had some hardware issues I sent it in under warranty and had no issues concerning the warranty and being unlocked. I would like to see what parts of the warranty void upon unlocking via HTCs method. If someone can post a link I would be interested to read up on this.

I would say Revolutionary!
hTC updates - take ages..by the time they come out with any essentials updates, i had changed to another device.
Revolutionary - almost every single day. They listen to our feedbacks n always trying to improve for the community...
Therefore, Revolutionary FTW!

I agree with everyone the revolution is better in every way.
Plus if it gets bricked for HTC its voided and they KNOW it
but for revolution they wont know so if its bricked just drown it or back over it and its unvoided

While Revolutionary doesn't per se, you can do it by simply flashing your stock ROM and switch secuflag back to 3 which will relock you to S-On. Details are in this sticky, oh and the cool thing is if you flash the stock RUU back your bootloader just says PVT Ship S-Off so it looks as if you got your Sensation that way haha
That is exactly what I did. s-off my device via revolutionary method then rooted and super CID. I then re-flashed stock ruu back and now I have stock s-off but with super CID. I'll probably changed it back to Asian CID just for software updates. If that is how software updates check for proper version updates.
Has anyone used the official HTC utility to unlock the bootloader?
Just curious about it, my warranty will be up before I know it and I've never bricked a device beyond repair. I was considering giving it a shot, I always liked my nexus for the official unlock. The Revolutionary header is just annoying haha.
Is anyone aware of any cons of unlocking the bootloader via HTC?
I wouldgo with the revolutionary way.
When doing it the htc way it still shows S-on but unlocked.
I like to have peace of mind and see that mine says s-off

No. HTC unlock only unlocks bootloader. It doesn't give you s-off, and it doesn't give you fastboot write command access like revolutionary does.

Hello,
how can I sim unlock htc sensation. It is locked to Telenor Montenegro.
Is it possible to unlock it free without losing warrany? If not where can I buy unlock code with credit card ?
you can root and s-off to get free unlock, and once you have it you can flash RUU to put everything back and then use unlock code
That procedure is hard for me
If I can buy that code I will do that. I just need site for that. I tried on globalunlock.com but their codes only work for phones in USA,CA and UK.
My phone is s off but no sim unlock code here... I thought only t mobile can do that for me, being their my provider.

For that I need to root my phone. If I root my phone I will lose warranty.
GUIDE 1 is very easy but my warranty is problem. I will do this guide if there is guide to unroot phone ?
Call your phone operator ask them to give you unlock code for your phone tell them you travel for business. Or search online paid unlock code.

Yea your provider should give u the unlock code and have it emailed to you within 72 hrs. Normally you will recieve an email the next day. I remember seeing a write up using terminal emulator to get your unlock code. Thats how i got mine. Not sure where the write up is though.

I called my provider but they said that they can't do that and that I must go in mobile phone servis and unlock it.
I called local servis, 20 EUR is unlocking for sensation and they do that with box tool.
Search htc sensation sim unlock using terminal emulator. Im sure u will find it. Its a very each procedure

I find that guide but for that I need to root my phone. I will do that but when I unlock I need to unroot my phone. So I need guide for that - to unroot when I finish unlocking.
Why do u need to unroot it?

Well they care. My previous phone HTC Desire S has been bricked. Phone was s-off and rooted. I sent my phone to warranty repair but they refused to repair phone because of s-off and root. Problem was in fired emmc chip so they need to replace mainboard which cost 200 EUR.
Oh tmobile doesnt care

There isn't really any active work toward s-off for the One S. I think the hope is that anything the Att One-X guys come up with will work on or phone also. So there is still hope.
Also, you can unlock your phone without going through HTCdev. Therefore not losing your warrenty but you would need files from someones phone who is unlocked. The link below explains it but DO NOT try it with the files in the link as it won't work. You need the files from a One S.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732980
Well, I think that an exploit for the one X cannot be used for the one S because of different chip used on the devices... We have a Qualcomm one while the one X has tegra. I would check the link that you have pass me but I think that it will be hard to find someone who would pass me the right files...

The AT&T (and some other NA carriers) One X (AKA One XL) has the MSM8960 which is also a S4 Krait+Adreno 225 combo, just with an LTE modem.

It would work for sure. If someone has a device going back to t-mobile or HTC for replacement we could use their partitions.

TAMPERED isn't such a great issue. It goes away by just flashing a RUU.
The real issue is the RELOCKED message you get when relocking the bootloader. To prevent this RELOCKED message, and to have it displaying LOCKED isntead (this way the bootloader won't appear to have been ever unlocked), you have to achieve S-OFF. That's what they're working on, if I'm not mistaken.

It would still show tampered. The only reason you would want to do it this way is so your phone wouldn't show up in HTC's database of phones they unlocked. When you unlock through HTC Dev you agree that unlock the phone may void parts of your warranty.
And as the other poster above stated even if you locked the boot-loader again it would say Relocked instead of Locked. So there isn't really much a reason to do it this way.
Well I hope that a way to unlock the phone without leaving traces will eventually cames out. I do not want to use htcdev because I have to keep this phone for 30 months as I have taken it with an operator contract, so if something happen and I have unlocked it then I would have no warranty.

Hello,
I have an HTC Sensation 4g that was originally from Tmobile. I rooted it and also unlocked the phone to use on other networks. I verified this by using other prepaid carriers in the U.S and also in Mexico. But now i have an issue I tried a company called Moviestar in Mexico. I keep getting a message saying SIM LOCKED. Why is this?
Also does anyone know how asking for unlock code work from tmobile. I also have service with them with a different sensation can I call them and give them the IMIE for the sensation I want unlocked? Not sure if you have to be using the sensation while asking for the code.
I also found this to change APN but dont the sim cards change this automatically?

Simply ask T-Mobile for the unlock code. They will give it to you. I haven't asked for this device yet but asked for my other device and they gave me the code without any problems. Just tell them you will be traveling and want the code. It shouldn't be a problem. They did it for me before without any issues. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes

Maybe T-Mobile, but I am on Vodafone and they won't give it to me for some reason. HTC have put a guide how to SOFF your phone, but that didn't worked for me. I only have the "wire trick" left to try, but some users report broken phones after so... I hear people write mails to HTC and they give them the unlock codes Anyone had a successful feedback on the issue?

HTC dev unlock method works fine.. just follow procedure from HTC page
If your bootloader is 1.2xx , jb method of soff is only option...
What u mean broken phone after wire trick???.,.,
If u stuck on jb screen after many attempt of wire trick , then u simply remove temp root and phone will back to Android

To verify, if I have S-OFF'd my Sensation, then I should be able to use a SIM on another carrier without having to call my carrier (T-Mobile) to get an unlock code. Right?
Thank you.

No, you're missing 1 step.
S-Off and Sim Unlock are two different things.
But if you have S-Off and Root access you can figure out your own Sim Unlock code quickly and easily.
See here for instructions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Then once you have that unlock code, when you put in a sim from another carrier it will prompt you for the code and you simply type it in.
Skipjacks is right I was trying to find that thread wasnt fast enough lol. Cedyathome follow that guide and it should work for most carriers.
