Hello all,
I've tried using the Panorama picture function on the galaxy tab 2...but believe it or not am having difficulty in getting to work. Most of the times I try it, I get a "Failed" message. I may not be using the feature correctly...so please let me know if what I am doing is not right haha.
I click on the Panorama feature... then I press the picture button to begin. I'm then slowly moving to the right while staying withing the blue rectangle. After I want to finish, I move a little to the left (after taking the last picture), and press the picture button again.
Where I could be going wrong is in the end (to stop taking shots)... any advice?
Thanks!

That's pretty much what I do except for that little move to the left you finish with. Basically, I just push the button and slowly turn, letting it do it's thing, then when I want to stop, I push the button again. They usually come out pretty good, in fact, usually they're surprisingly good.

This has happened a few times where I have the camera app and I am taking pictures and then all the sudden non of the touch screen buttons/controls for the camera work and the touch sensitive buttons at the bottom for back, home ect wont work. I literally cannot do anything with the phone except use the hardware button for power. However, I cant turn the screen off. All I can do is hold down the power button and turn off the phone...
Anyone else had this issue?
if you hit the power button while in the camera app, it locks everything. just click it again and everything will unlock
Interesting..... thanks! Didnt know that. I really appreciate it!
Took me a while to figure this out, too. If you look closely, there's a little lock icon on the screen. The power button toggles the lock.

What do you suppose this is for?

My guess is that you can keep the camera ready and in a pocket or in your hand to get that upcoming shot.
This feature nailed me, too, the first time I used the phone.
Then a week later it proved VERY handy when recording a video where I had to keep a deathgrip on the phone. Amusement park rides!
I'm new here so I can't post links yet. Just combine the following by removing spaces:
youtube . com / watch?v=8QFZqJ_32Qc
note: even with a deathgrip I gave myself a massive bloodpressure boost by holding my new phone like this.
After having my G2x for a few weeks now, I've rooted it and applied the leaked gingerbread update while waiting for the official release.
However, I have noticed occasionally when pressing the power button to turn on/off the screen, I hear a camera shutter noise. The first time this happened I was confused as I hadn't had the camera app open at all. I went to check my recent pictures, and viola! The phone took a picture, even though I had just shut off the screen with no camera app on in sight.
Tonight, when I was randomly browsing through the apps on my phone, I went to the gallery app and noticed the few random "quick" shots I took with this method that I cant seem to reproduce, and among them, I also noticed a number of screen captures(all taken while texting). I did not notice the screen captures taken, nor do I have a clue how they were taken.
TL;DR- Does the G2x have a hardware key combination to take a quick camera picture even if the screen is off? And, How are the screencaptures taken? (I have no apps/mods installed anything relevant to those two, except the GB leak)
If you press the power button and the home button at the same time it takes a screen picture.

Exactly...that must be what you're doing. Keep your fingers away from the Home button when accessing the power button to avoid taking screenshots.
Hi all
Noticed a little bug on my nexus 5 when taking picture, just curious to see if anyone else has had this..When i take a picture and it goes into the top right hand corner, if i then press it to view the picture, and decide i want to delete it, sometimes not always, id say about 1 in 15 goes it freezes and the screen goes jet black. I cant touch on the screen and the only way i can get it to work again is to simply press the on/off button and it comes back on again fine.
Its no biggie just wanted to see if anyone else has had this?
I take about 5-10 pics daily on my nexus and I must say I haven't faced this bug even once!
Try clearing data/cache of camera app and see whether the problem occurs??
If it doesn't, just ignore it as it happens once a while
Hey everyone, I'm a fairly new OPO user myself here as well; I received mine back in early-mid October, and have had it since then.
But oddly enough, for the past two weeks or so, the following issues have surfaced and has become more frequent, and prominent than ever. For all the fellow OPO-users out there, I was wondering if anyone else has come across the same issue(s) that I've been going through... Unfortunately I really haven't had the time to look up any solution methods and whatnot with two young'uns whom are extremely demanding of my presence... All. The. Time.
So I thought that if I compiled my little list here, hopefully some kind soul will reach out to me with answers (or at least, the direction to where I could find those answers) and make my day just -that- much lighter.
Now just to mention the main points : NO, I have NOT rooted my phone, and YES, I DID install the OTA update, and currently my CM version is the 11.0-XNPH38R.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a) sometimes, my OPO screen will absolutely REFUSE to turn back on, after I've put the phone to sleep. nothing i do can get the screen to turn back on again - unless it decides it finally wants to. (it's got a mind of its own, this thing... and it's just as stubborn as I am. UGH.) i try double-tapping the screen several times (i've turned that feature on) and i try pressing the power/wake button, or holding it down, ... but zilch. this will usually last up to 10~15 minutes. (after 5~10 minutes of trying to bring it back to life, I just give up and let it be.) when the screen DOES end up turning back on, it's either flashing the "power off/reboot/accessibility" menu several times (probably from me trying to mess with the physical power/wake button) then finally respond to my 'backspace' on-screen keys, or the home icon, returning me back to the proper lockscreen it's supposed to show. ANOTHER way it ends up FINALLY responding, is that the phone will vibrate in short sequences of two, maybe three times and then it will initiate the rebooting process. then everything starts working fine again. i don't recall having ever done anything to trigger something like this to happen, either...
b) the keyboard (the stock Android keyboard) randomly will NOT work; by that I mean, when I am in a messaging app, or any other app that requires a person to TYPE WORDS ON, the keyboard DOES show up, (along with the suggestive bar just above it) and when I try to type, all the usual things will occur; the letter I happen to press will pop-up in response to my tap, and in the suggestive word bar above, it will start showing me the possible word combinations possible based on the sequence of the letters I type, but nowhere do I actually SEE on the SCREEN/message bar/etc. any letters or characters popping up. this issue too, will happen out of nowhere and will last about 15~20 minutes as well. usually what fixes the problem (as annoying as it is) is if I shut down/turn on, then reboot the phone a couple of times to get the keyboard to actually start working again. but there MUST be an easier method to fix this (and all my other issues) !
c) the stock camera app; this issue actually started occurring within days - just under a week of actually getting the shipment of the phone to my place. I was testing out the camera functions, the usual, then suddenly, I would get booted out of the app, and a message saying "The Camera cannot be used at this time" will pop-up as a result. (although, what was even STRANGER, was for a while, (for about 2-3 days) I was receiving a totally different message that didn't even make any SENSE: it said something along the lines of "the camera could not be connected to the device at this time" or "the camera has been disconnected from the device"... i don't even know HOW a camera can "disconnect" itself from the phone, but apparently it CAN.) with this issue, there was absolutely NOTHING I could do to start making it work again. it was non-functional for three, four days straight (no word of a lie) then just for the hell of it, I decided to open the camera app again, and boom, it was working. that didn't last long, though... then suddenly after opening the camera, there would be a prolonged black screen on the phone that wouldn't go away, and I couldn't select any options whatsoever... then when the camera finally started "working", i tried taking a picture - i thought that it would work, since nothing was indicative of it NOT working... but alas, such was not the case. when i went into gallery, to browse through the photos I had taken, they were not there at all, and the photos i had thought were taken weren't actually taken at all.
Asides from that, and some occasional (frequent) crashes while using the phone, I'm not feeling too frustrated by it. (I guess I just have an effin'-load of patience.) Still, I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions about this dilemma of mine, or providing me the key to all of the answers to these stupid bugs.
Thanks for all those who took the time to read my lengthy post. :fingers-crossed:
Hey all,
Praying you can help as I'm soooo pissed at AT&T. So my wife's Galaxy S6 is only a 4 months old and for the last 2 months she has been dealing with this issue of her phone just randomly switching between apps and programs. For example her phone will just be sitting on the table and we hear a clicking noise (the same noise like when you text) so I look we look at phone and it's switching between messages, pandora, phone list etc. there is not set of apps/programs it chooses them at random. I tried shutting down some apps and no good. I called AT&T and they had me do a factory reset of the phone, no good. Took it to the store and they sent us to the service center for replacement. But when we got there they said there is water damage to the phone so we are SOL. Now i'm pissed, her phone has never been in water. She works at a hospital and when she comes home, all she does is wipe down the phone with a baby wipe and that's it. I tried to explain to them I understand where they are coming from but this is clearly a software issue. They are refusing to help us. I told them I work in the IT field and again it's clearly software issue or a lemon device, but they are hanging their hats on water damage of course.
So my question to you all, is there some way to roll back the software or to jailbreak it to fix this issue?
Has anyone seen or heard of this before?
Lastly I have this on video happening if anyone wants to see it i can text or email it to you.
Sorry so long....Thanks in advance,
Ryan
Sounds like screen issue whereby a portion of the screen believes it's being interacted with. Factory reset may be a good start. Backup anything you need to first of course!
Settings > Backup and a reset > factory data reset. Failing that it's a hardware fault and the vendor should advise where to get the device looked and and repaired. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply yeah we did that and no go. And like I said above they did tell us to go to the service center and they said cause the phone had water damage (which it was never in or around water) that they won't touch it.
You could try this:
Open the dialpad and dial: *#0*# to start "Testmode".
The test "Touch" will test your screen for touch events, just leave it, and see if something happens without you interacting.
Test "Sub key" will test all the hardware keys. The screen will change color if a key is pressed. Again, just leave it and see if the screen change color by itself.
Use doubletap on back-key to get back to menu.
Let us know the results.
Ok I tried what you told me. In "Touch" test the screen is white with a bunch of boxes that form a box with an X in it. I hear the phone clicking back and forth like it does when it's switching between apps/programs, but I do not see them switching on the screen like I normally do. Other than than nothing else happens. If I touch the screen the boxes turn green as I touch them. When I turn all the boxes green it takes me back to the main screen
In "Sub Key" test, the screen turns a mustard color and stays that way. Again I hear the clicking like it is switching between apps/programs but I don't see them I just see the mustard screen. If I hit the back key twice to return to the main menu the screen turns purple and then violet and then takes me back to the main screen
At the main screen, again I hear all the clicking but don't see the apps/programs I just see the main screen that appears after I put in the sequence you gave me.
There are many other options, would any of those help?
Thanks again!!
Ryan
Lastly it seems to happen far more frequently in this mode than when using the phone normally
Mustard color in sub key test means your app switching key (to the left of fingerprint key) is pressed down by itself. If all OK, screen stays black.
OMG awesome!! so now I know what the heck is going on!! thank you sooo much. Now is that something I can get fixed? I had a S4 a few years back and dropped it in water not once but twice. I had to take that phone apart a few times to cover it in rice and to replace a few parts (camera, mic, and antenna). Is this something I can do myself or can take somewhere and have someone do it or am I just SOL?
I would leave it to a pro, but if you feel comfy with disassembly of cellphones and have the right tools, go for it. Let us know how this ends.
