[Q] USB Developer Mode says Driver not found? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Im using an Archos 97 Carbon Tablet, And when I connect it to my computer via USB and have Dev mode enabled, windows comes up saying "Driver not found", but it works when dev mode is turned off fine (but obviously, I cant use debugging).
Ive searched up everywhere, but it seems this isnt a popular tablet, and there are no threads of fixes that have worked for this device.

ADB driver is what you need.

Ah, I found on the Archos website a download for a ZIP, containing a folder called "usb_driver".
How do I install this?

point it to where you downloaded the Android SDK (..\android-sdk-windows\google-usb_driver)
Make sure to CLICK "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

to install the usb driver and it didnt work as there is no google usb section of the SDK download.
I went and downloaded google-usb-drivers from google but my computer (win 7) still cant find anythign compatible.
what do i do?
EDIT: oops i didnt realize i had no title. Sorry. Feel free to add one if you want.
Also i did search for this. and was suprised to find no results... however there are lots of different search boxes to choose from on this site. I was pretty sure i chose the one for nexus s

yes i did point to the folder. both the parent folder and the various inner folders.
it works fine in usb mode when the phone is on.
they are the official google usb drivers is there another source for my Nexus S.
also for reference it is under other devices - android 1.0
do i even need that step?

is there another good guide i can follow? maybe there is a step i need to do before usb install? This guide assumes the usb drivers will come with the SDK but the only data the SDK tries to update is itself to SDK15 which the guide specifically mentioned not to do.

i cannot get usb connectivity in for the fast boot mode
from the rootkit the when i plug in my device even after installing the universal usb drivers i think windows is installing something else. Thus stopping me from accessing it while in fastboot mode
Not really sure what to do here. USB debugging enabled and everything all the guides are pretty easy to follow and have the same steps.
Google PdaNet, download and install it after attaching your phone to pc via usb. It will also install device driver... I think it is 'android 1.0' driver issue...

nope didnt work
just so you know when i plug in the phone with debugging on i have 'android composite adb interface' installed
i have removed all the drivers from this computer previously. i can do it again though.
after installing pdanet i have 'android 1.0' pop up under other devices with an exclamation on it in device manager...i don't know if that is normal or not?
how do i know when this is working? i always try to run "oem fastboot unlock" which goes to "waiting for device" but will i no longer see the
USB control Init
USB control init end
??
It is the same issue of android 1.0 driver which i also faced in win8... You have to install android 1.0 driver manually from device manager

so if i go to install the drivers from the pdanet folder if i tell device manager to search the winusb folder it says "cannot find drivers for your hardware" and if i dont search and say have disk - i chose 'android device' then the file in android_'winusb' file but it says "specified location does not have information about your hardware"
so i cannot get it to work.
This is on XP and win7 (2 different computers). I prefer the XP one for this though
Install nexus s root toolkit, then try to install driver from there.

[Solved] ADB device not found

Hi, I'm trying to go back to stock rom following this guide but I can't get adb to recognize my phone (even if I've already used adb in this pc to unlock the bootloader and flash the custom recovery). I'm on Liquid Smooth ROM and my pc has Windows 8.1.
I tried uninstalling motorola drivers and reinstalling again and uninstalling and letting windows install the drivers automatically but no luck either way (and USB debugging is activated in the phone).
When I access to the device manager in the pc it shows a warning sign on Motorola ADB Interface saying the controllers for that device are not installed, that the manufacturer is unknown and that there aren't compatible controllers for the device (I'm translating what the pic says for those who don't understand spanish xD). I tried to uninstall that Motorola ADB interface thing but it remains there.
What can I do?
SOLUTION: See last post.
You'll need to manually install the driver for the unknown devices. Point to your motorola driver folder.
Are you on CM11?
I had the same problem, tried Motorola USB Driver, Universal ADB driver, Google USB driver and also editing the USB.inf to match the hardwareID.. none of that worked until I set the USB computer connection to Camera (PTP)
Good luck!

That same thing happens to me, if I put it in camera mode it does work, the problem is that I need it to work in fastbood mode and it doesn't recognize my device there

EDIT: I've found the solution, I noticed I had two Motorola ADB Interface controllers, one in "Android Devices" and the other in unknown controllers. I went to the unknown one and imported the same certificate the upper one had and now it works (though I have two Motorola ADB Interface in android devices).

In fastboot mode, I made the USB work by using Koush's Universal ADB driver.
But if you are using Windows 8 or 8.1, you'll need to turn off the forced signature verification before you can install the drivers, since they are not signed.
Well... glad you got it..

Go to device manager, you should see a device called "Android Device" (IIRC). Right click to update device drivers, select device driver, manually search for one but then pick choose from a list. You should be able to see the right driver that is normally used.

Delete Please!!!

I take it you have created a path in windows /android-sdk/platform-tools ?
Have you disabled usb driver signature authentication if you`re on Win8/8.1?
You could try removing the device in device manager and also uninstalll all drivers, then dis- and reconnect to the pc and install the google usb drivers from the sdk manualy.

Unplug your device from your computer. Open up Device Manager. Plug in device. Look for the device in device manager. It may have an odd name, but you'll see something pop up when you plug the phone in. When you find it, right click on it and click "Update Drivers". Then click the "Browse" option. Then select "Let me pick from a list". Then click something along the lines of "Android ADB driver". This should let it properly communicate with your computer and let you browse data files on the phone.

Yes, the same driver will work for MTP. If your computer can successfully communicate with your phone via ADB, then it can transfer data as MTP. Is USB debugging enabled on your phone? And, does ADB actually work right now? When you type "adb devices" in a command prompt, does it give you a device serial?
EDIT: I'm not familiar with the 8.1 Entreprise version, I didn't think it would affect anything, apparently it does

Help, i updated the wrong driver to my android driver via device manager on pc

Hello, i want to ask for some help, so i have accidentally updated my android driver with an adb interface driver for computer, and now when i debugging my device to the computer, it is listed in "universal serial bus devices" not in "other devices" anymore, it is a problem because i wanted to install google camera for my phone, but now my phone can't stand in fastboot mode anymore, it always asked me to shutdown my phone, maybe because i have updated it with the wrong driver.
I have tried updating it with the driver i got from the internet, but it always show me "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device" like in the photo i have attached, i'm sure this driver list was compatible before, because i have tried it before i updated the wrong driver to my android driver.
Any help will be appreciated, and i'm sorry for my bad english, thanks.

On Android-side there is NOTHING to install: ADB & Fastboot daemons are implemented in every Android device's bootloader. You have only to install the matching USB-driver on Windows computer.
