There is some noise in the recording but considering the scarcity of recorder apps, it can be used.

The thing is it records from speaker and not from line....
To simply put it, it records your voice only through the mic and the other person voice that is heard from the ear piece to the our Mic (you know how low it is)..and it modifies it somehow...
[It won't work if you stand in heavy traffic and speak]
So... other person voice is low... and it doesn't record actually from the line...
To prove my point, just plug in ear(head) phones while speaking and reduce your call volume, so that nothing can be heard outside except through the ear(head)phones..and try to record.

Sorry...I forgot...I used to record after plugging in the earphones.
with earphones plugged in, the recording is quite satisfactory.
without them the sound is very low.
i have same question :good:
Well I think we dont need to record each and every call. So we can just plug in the headphones for the calls which we want to record and use app. It works well with headphones.
We can't carry headphones everywhere we go.. especially in the work place

What's the difference between this and Skype? I've made alot of videocalls on Skype and at least I can call friends on PC. What's the benefit of having Fringe installed? It's something like Whatsapp but for video calls as I see.
I understood that OP wants to make a 3G Video call...not a video call through whatever data connection it's active on the phone(including 3G). From my understanding that is a video call service that's depending on the operator. Vodafone is offering that in RO, I belive it's available for other countries/operators as well. And that means you can video call someone by his phone number
The service is described better HERE
Exactly rapier......
I meant the video calls through mobile network..... Not through internet....... Evn many java phones does this...... Y cant our much much advanced smart phones do this....??

I find gtalk smooth.
Think you can install gtalk with videocalls for desire s if you're rooted

Other option is if you both have the viber app
Plus Skype and fring as others have mentioned

I am in the same situation... I want to use this service too, but I started to think that is impossible with android phone. I had three phones with Android so far, but none of them have this option.....
As I saw, phones with 3G video call have a dedicated buton for this. This is not the case with our Android phones.
I called my operator now (Vodafone) and I got the confirmation. Android phones are not compatible with this service. Only phones that have a dedicated video call buton and are listed on the operator's compatibility list can use this service

3G native calling is not supported by Android. Only Samsung and LG android phones support it.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
I was searching for this some time too. Unfortunately only apps like Skype or Fring are making this possible on my Desire S, but the client has to be installed on the other person phone too and this is a bit limiting. This is my only dissapointment of Android so far but I am finding it strange to have this service natively supported on my 2008' Nokia but not on my 2011' smartphone.
I truly hope that someday someone will suddenly share a nice way do make videocalls through the mobile network with Desire S
Tango is a very good video call app

olyloh6696, you just opened this thread. Could it be exactly what the OP here wanted? I just recall, when I was using Edymion ROM, that I had that video camera buton but never tried to use it. It could be the equivalent of the hardware "video call" buton on some phones for making 3G calls. Someone with sense rom could eventually try it

I have it on Virtuous too. But how can we add recipients there?
You shouldn't add recipients...sorry cause I don't have the ROM installed to try, but I suppose that button works identical with the normal "call" button, just that it is a video call instead. The person you are calling should support the video calling feature and have the service active from the operator in order for it to work. The way it should be used is by selecting a person from your contacts, then call using that video buton instead of the normal call button
Ah thanks! That clears it up! Cheers

I'm on Syn-r50 as well.. You're using a hard wire not bluetooth correct? (as they had some problems previously with bluetooth that should be fixed now)
Does your Headphone mic not pick up (aka using mic in phone) or is any mic not working when you plug them in?
Cheers.
its been a big issue I've seen everywhere, a lot of headphones with controltalk don't work for calls and all. I've been going through headphones trying to find some that do. I'm now using the iBeats by Dre that come with the HTC Rezound and can confirm they work 100%. I'm running Synergy 1.7
It's hard wire I believe it can pick up and it pauses music but the call go to the phone

I have this issue with my stock rom and its annoying as hell. Don't want to dish out the $$ for a BT piece and I love my handsfree bose wired headphones w/mic. It worked fine on my other phones but not on the S3, which seems to be a common issue. I wonder if anyone has gone to Verizon about this? I might swing by their store tomorrow.
I am on stock non rooted (yet) and I can tell you that my Skull Candy 50/50 can't be used for calls. Music listening only. But the headphones provided with the GSIII work. So based on what I'm reading, only certain headphones are compatible for calls.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Please

Ok some of us use it on our Android devices but who actually thinks they (Skype) are keeping up their end of the deal with Android as they do with say an iPhone, I for one on a HTC One S so not find that the app itself is very good mainly they audio and I've had no issues with it on my old iPhone and yes I know why use Skype on an iPhone when they have FaceTime but I did so anyway who actually likes it or do you think that Skype needs a few ANGRY Android users in their ears to give them some imput?

Personally I feel like Skype just works really bad on the HOS for some reason.. cause when I use Skype on my Nexus7, the audio quality is a lot better even though I'm on the same network connection and everything..
I have exactly the same issue with my HOS. Skype doesnt work well on this phone. Audio quality is quite poor. I have used skype on my other devices (on same network), and didnt have any issue with audio quality. Only with this phone skype seem to have some issue.
I had galaxy ace 2 before this phone and skype worked well on that device. The audio quality was great.
Seem HOS has some software issue, hope it will be resolved in next software updates.
However Viber works very well on this phone, i tried it, audio quality was excellent (on wifi).

There is no answer option for incoming calls. Just "silence" and "ignore".
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
is not possible, sadly, not even with call handler pro, something htc changed in their phones, doesn't work on my Butterfly S either
Well I am using HTC One SV and can easily answer calls with call handling pro. With the native call handling though, you can only answer calls with Xperia handsets.
Now I think answering calls from the watch itself is to me at least not that important. When the phone is in your pocket without a headset, answering calls with speaker ON is useless. To take the call you need to take the phone out of your pocket anyway.
Now when you have a wired or wireless headset, you can always answer the call with the button on the headset. That is the setup I am using anyway. I have a wired urbanears headset with the answer button on it, so when I am out walking around, when I get a call, I take a look at the watch. If I want to reject the call I do it on the watch. If I want to take it, I use the button on the headphone. Win-win to me at least.
Note: just for the ability to answer calls I purchased custom call handling pro. Used it a little while but I am back to Sony app.

But why is it always HTC when somebody has some problem?
