My i897 captivate goes straight to a white screen. When I press the power button, the screen instantly turns white. When I insert the JIG, the screen instantly turns white (odin still recognizes it but all actions fail). With the JIG in first then battery inserted, screen instantly turns white. I soft bricked the phone a couple of weeks ago and loaded UCKF1 because it was the only firmware that I could find that didn't have a broken download. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
Does anyone have an idea as to the problem? I wouldn't think the LCD would go bad at random, and even so, how would that prevent odin from completing a task???
Here's a video of the attempted boot: youtu.be/XzXVv6wf9V4

I took the phone completely apart and cleaned the screen contacts with alcohol and wiped it clean, same result. I found another post on the net of the same problem "fuzzy color dots" describes it perfectly.

Hi,
this morning I flashed froyo JPK onto my phone and everything was working great until I downloaded a file through dropbox and suddenly my screen went black. I had to take out the battery to restart the phone and then it got stuck in an endless loop of blinking start up logo.
When trying to get into recovery mode I get the message it can't mound /dev/block/mmcblk0p1. I have tried several things I found here on the forums, including going back to stock UGJH2 but still the same.
Any suggestions on what to do? Do I have to send it in? The problem is I bought this phone through ebay as I am living in Australia so not sure if my local Samsung will be of any help.
Thanks,
b3n
I think I really screwed something. On another forum someone suggested to use the JM5 ROM and so I did. Now I can't even get my phone into download/recovery mode anymore. Any help on this or do I have to get it fixed in a service centre?
I have the same problem.... I'm stumped! My phone goes through the Galaxy logo then goes black with the two buttons lit up. Stuck.
Ugh.
same problem, so far nothing is working
anyone found anything out as of yet?
when my phone was unable to enter download or recovery mode i was forced to make a jig.
it's 301Kohm of resistance soldered to pin 4 and 5 of a micro usb plug that you rip off a cable. works everytime. here i have 2x150Kohm + 1x1Kohm

the red pins are the pins you need to solder to the resistors.

Hi folks,
I'm having some screen issues.
There is a vertical band on the right side of the screen that isn't registering any touch input. I'm currently running CM 12, but I've tried installing a stock variant and the problem persists.
This all points to a bad digitizer, but the affected part of the screen seems to work fine in recovery and on the lock screen.
I'm completely stumped. Does anyone have any advice?

Return to stock and Warranty!!!
I have a similar problem, but it seems sporadic. I get "dead spots" on the screen where it won't register a touch until I either change the screen orientation or turn the screen off, then back on. These spots happen everywhere, though most often along the side of the screen (all sides, and occasionally towards the middle.) pushing harder, long pressing, etc. doesn't have any effect.
I turned on show touches, so I can tell when it happens. I can see that it seems to register the touch initially, but the touch quickly disappears (almost like the touch area there crashed) and won't come back. If I touch somewhere else and drag my finger, it registers through the "dead spot", but won't highlight or select anything. A tap isn't registered, but it can follow my finger through it.
I also have another issue where the screen registers a touch, but the device doesn't do anything. This most often happens when hitting the home button. The touch registers and the button even lights up, but nothing happens until I hit the button again.
A factory reset didn't help.
Warranty and exchange
Hi,
I recently purchased a replacement USB port part for my Nexus 5, as my original one had a bad connection on the port which made charging very tricky.
The new part.

I followed a Youtube guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqCEXEmcj4Y
I did as was instructed, the only thing being an issue was that fitting the ribbon back into this port was a little tricky. (see the circled image below).
Put the phone back together. Powering on I feel the phone vibrate as if its powering on, but there isnt anything on the screen.
I hold the power button down to turn it off, but I dont get any vibration indicating it has force powered off.
Ive opened it all up and checked the work ive done, but still the same issue.
I thought it may be the new part I put in, so I swapped it for the old one.
Im concerned now that the port that i had to fiddle with to connect may of been damaged (although i was very careful). Or is there a more simple explanation where I need to connect it to a computer in an attempt to bring it back to life?
FYI I have just tried the vol keys and i can hear the vol change sounds. I may take the opportunity to back things up now.
Is it possible to do a factory reset without seeing the screen? I have a lock pattern that I obviously cannot see now either.
All help appreciated.
Thanks
Hello, I am new to this forum and almost a complete beginner when it comes to Android.
I just found my old Samsung SM-G360F phone lying on the floor. I thought I lost it several years ago, but apparently it slipped through the bed mattress and landed on the floor where it has remained until this day.
I connected the charger and it seems that the battery still works normally. Unfortunately, I set up some password on this phone when I used it years ago, and of course, there's no way I can remember it now. So, the only way I can recover this phone is to do a factory reset.
On the Internet, I can see that the recommended method to do a factory reset on this phone is to hold the HOME key and Volume UP key, and then press the Power key and hold all three keys until the recovery mode is displayed. The problem is, I never get the recovery menu by pressing these keys, but instead I always get some kind of "ODIN MODE".
Please take a look at the screenshot I made with another phone of this ODIN MODE screen. The first picture is of this ODIN Mode screen. The second picture is what I get if I press Volume DOWN + HOME + Power On. It's some kind of download mode, which again isn't what I need right now.

Could someone please help me and explain how I can do a factory reset on this phone? Thanks in advance!
Just use odin and flash your stock firmware and it would be good as new
Hi people, I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000), and since a few years ago is stored because from one day to another stopped working, when you turn on normally the screen is something like interference, has no movement, there is no sound of the system, just stays like that and occasionally restarts, but if Odin mode works "normally", I tried to flash the system in several ways and following various tutorials but nothing has worked yet. At some point it was taken to a "technician" to be checked, but the answer he gave was that the whole motherboard had to be replaced.
Does anyone know if this has a solution?

The eMMC needs to be replaced, I'm doing this as a professional, don't know if theres a store which can do this in your country.
Open the tab and see if the flex cable from the screen is still properly seated in the connector. If not, open the lock and reinsert the flex cable from the screen correctly and close the lock again.

You can see, that the download mode looks normal.
It's the typical picture, if theres no data readable from the param partition,
mostly defective eMMC.
