I was restoring a backup I made in recovery and it got stuck at restoring data. Like stuck, over an hour. I held the power and volume to go into fastboot and it didn't come up. Just blackness.
Nothing I try can get it to boot or have any screen. Suggestions or did I just brick it?
EDIT: Forgot to mention, my led notification light is green meaning I am charged. (I went into this 100% battery) and holding the power makes capacitive buttons flash like normal, just no screens)
Shut it off and try it again.

I was able to get it to the htc warning splash screen. Now after that it is a black screen that has a white/grey bar acrossed the top. Ugh.
So you can no longer access recovery or fast boot modes on your phone? If so, you may be screwed.

IF you can restart hold power and vol down till the capacitive buttons go off, then release the power and then hold vol down until bl comes up...(I know you tried this before but if it gets to the dev splash screen maybe you can get into bl and recov again.

I made it too bootloader and recovery. I tried flashing the backup I made before this mess and it succeeded but same thing happens when I boot up. I then tried a ROM I know is good and still no dice. Irritating...

Just to make sure: did you try wiping everything before you flashed?
Flash your boot.img too ....

Just ruu from fastboot and start over. It should be fine. Don't forget to relock bootloader first.
Just for shyts, from recovery, wipe /system-/fac. reset/both caches- flash ROM, not a backup, and reboot.

I FIXED IT!! had to flash recovery again and wipe everything from there. Beats having to start from scratch! Thanks guys

has this problem already came up if so I missed it a link would be nice to fix my phone Thanks
I could be misunderstanding your problem here but I think i had a similar issue... first of all make sure you're holding down the power button long enough to boot up. Seems to take 4 or 5 seconds with this phone.
Also when I had the issue i took out the bat, put it back, plugged into a wall charger and then held the power button that worked. But I think really my issue was impatience not holding the power button the first time long enough.
no i am the screen wont say updating or whatever when i hold the up and down button but it looks for a driver ?? and installs the Right driver
helpppppppppp your way to the search button.
Thread moved to proper forum.
You only hold volume down and power. I had the same issue. Holding both volumes will cause the phone to not boot.

So you flashed the recovery before you rooted. Try reflashing the original recovery. I don't know if that will work. You should have rooted then flashed recovery.

thats what im doing now but gewt stuck at waiting for bootloader to int for some reason
Well your g2x will never go out of the updating screen you have to wait until one click says it has transfered the file. Wait a minute or so after that and unplug the USB and put your battery back in the I would do a master rest.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
thing is my lg screen is black can i still root with a black screen ? like i said only action i get out of the g2x is if i hold the vol up And Down and plug it in then i hear the sound of the computer finding it witch gives me hope
I would try recovering recovery befor trying to root again. I would do the nvflash but pick the original recovery instead of cm. Then after that master reset by original recovery which is hold power and down volume. Recovery will rest your rom. Rooting puts you root permissions I believe into a different partition any ways that's how a master reset does not wipe them. Your problem sounds like more of a recovery issue then root.

It is problem is it stays at Waiting for Bootloader int how long should that be there?
are you holding the volume buttons down and plunging in the usb before you select the version? you have to continue holding them the whole time. should pick it up in matter of seconds.
I just got my phone and probably going to root, and possibly update to 1.82, but I was wondering if I ever get a softboot or a loop, then what do I do to get the phone to recieve a flash back to stock.
Like do I have to put the phone in recovery mode by a button sequence?
thanks, just being preemptive here.
if you soft brick.
Press power and vol down as you boot. This will put you into the bootloader. Enable fast boot and flash an RUU from your computer (can be found in Development forum)
Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't get it to work. When I hold volume down and power the bottom buttons blink and the phone doesn't start booting up. If I let off the buttons while they are blinking, it boots up but there is nowhere you can get into fastboot.

I worry about issues I sometimes had with the vivid where I sometimes had to take battery out to get the phone to reboot...weird things happen sometimes when you are flashing, etc...I really don't know what to do if that happens on my hox...discharge battery I guess...

My phones screen seems to shut off and not wake up. I can tell the phone is on though because the buttons light up. And if I press and hold the back button the flashlight turns on. Also the volume rockers seemed to work but the screen stays off. Occasionally it seems to turn back on but but it'll just go back off again. Rebooting the phone doesn't working and I've also installed two different ROMs on it. Any advice on how to solve this?
Relock bootloader with fastboot oem lock cmd and download and run the ruu according to your phone version and see if the problem persists. If you don't know how to get into fast boot hold power and volume down until buttons stop flashing and keep holding volume down till you get See the screen with skating HTC men. Or if you have a backup in recovery you can restore from recovery and see if that helps your problem.

Kernel mods will do that also.

Haven't messed with any kernels. I was running the latest CM10 nightly when it happened. Figured it was the rom so I switched to the stable version but problems still happened.

No. No backups unfortunately.
My other suggestions would be to make sure you don't have a corrupt zip. Downloading from chrome or from you phone I've had issues. Ei8 or ie9 works well for me. Hope you get it figured out.

That was happening to my phone. I found that if i applied pressure to opposite corners at the same time, the screen would come back. If i let go, the screen would return to black. Everything worked when I touched the screen, volume rockers, etc. I took it into AT&T and they gave me a new one under warranty. I was running CleanRom 5.1 at the time. I honestly do not believe my problem was caused by over flashing or any type of hacking. SO, try to flex or contort the phone in different directions and see if you can cause it to turn on and off.
I ended up having to use RUU. The problem seems to be fixed. Still don't know what caused it but at least it wasn't a hardware issue.
A thanks would be nice

I appreciate you taking the time to help. And anyone for that matter but unfortunately the problem is still there. Might have to return it. Hopefully I won't get any issues from ATT for being rooted.
Completely stock Tmo One S suddenly started to restart and now is stuck on boot loop, tried the RUU and keeps doing the same.

Try to factory reset the phone. Instructions from official htc site:
Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons
If you can’t turn HTC One S on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC One S.
Important: The Fast boot option in Settings > Power must not be selected.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

Already did that, used the RUU and it worked, sort of...
if it power ups completely I cant reboot it because it goes back to a bootloop and the Wifi doesn't work it gives an error when you try to start it.

Suddenly my phone (z710e) jumped into a loop boot.
It's not rooted, no custom stuff, no custom bootloader.
It loads fine, but after 1-2 seconds reboots.
I've already tried to unbrick it with no result, computer can't see my phone.
Help with an advice or a link or anything useful will be great!
Thanks!

If i remember correctly you can wipe cache from the stock recovery. Boot into hboot by holding down volume down and power. Use the volume buttons to highlight recovery and press power. Then you will see a little android or a red exclamation in a triangle. Press the volume buttons and power until options appear on the screen. If it gives you wipe cache, them wipe it. Other wipe options may/will remove your personal data so use caution and know the risks

Okay, remove your battery then replace after 10 seconds. Then hold volume down first, then while volume down is still depressed begin holding power as well. If you see the htc splash screen then it has failed. Battery pull and try again. Have you ever used adb on this device?

it doesn't matter if you have fastboot enabled
you can still have access to the bootloader when removing battery and putting it back

I've tried to remove battery and reboot before, nothing changed.
adb - no, did not used
Solution was - to disassemble it and assemble... After that phone booted normally. :victory:
