I just got my phone and probably going to root, and possibly update to 1.82, but I was wondering if I ever get a softboot or a loop, then what do I do to get the phone to recieve a flash back to stock.
Like do I have to put the phone in recovery mode by a button sequence?
thanks, just being preemptive here.
if you soft brick.
Press power and vol down as you boot. This will put you into the bootloader. Enable fast boot and flash an RUU from your computer (can be found in Development forum)
Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't get it to work. When I hold volume down and power the bottom buttons blink and the phone doesn't start booting up. If I let off the buttons while they are blinking, it boots up but there is nowhere you can get into fastboot.

I worry about issues I sometimes had with the vivid where I sometimes had to take battery out to get the phone to reboot...weird things happen sometimes when you are flashing, etc...I really don't know what to do if that happens on my hox...discharge battery I guess...

has this problem already came up if so I missed it a link would be nice to fix my phone Thanks
I could be misunderstanding your problem here but I think i had a similar issue... first of all make sure you're holding down the power button long enough to boot up. Seems to take 4 or 5 seconds with this phone.
Also when I had the issue i took out the bat, put it back, plugged into a wall charger and then held the power button that worked. But I think really my issue was impatience not holding the power button the first time long enough.
no i am the screen wont say updating or whatever when i hold the up and down button but it looks for a driver ?? and installs the Right driver
helpppppppppp your way to the search button.
Thread moved to proper forum.
You only hold volume down and power. I had the same issue. Holding both volumes will cause the phone to not boot.

So you flashed the recovery before you rooted. Try reflashing the original recovery. I don't know if that will work. You should have rooted then flashed recovery.

thats what im doing now but gewt stuck at waiting for bootloader to int for some reason
Well your g2x will never go out of the updating screen you have to wait until one click says it has transfered the file. Wait a minute or so after that and unplug the USB and put your battery back in the I would do a master rest.

thing is my lg screen is black can i still root with a black screen ? like i said only action i get out of the g2x is if i hold the vol up And Down and plug it in then i hear the sound of the computer finding it witch gives me hope
I would try recovering recovery befor trying to root again. I would do the nvflash but pick the original recovery instead of cm. Then after that master reset by original recovery which is hold power and down volume. Recovery will rest your rom. Rooting puts you root permissions I believe into a different partition any ways that's how a master reset does not wipe them. Your problem sounds like more of a recovery issue then root.

It is problem is it stays at Waiting for Bootloader int how long should that be there?
are you holding the volume buttons down and plunging in the usb before you select the version? you have to continue holding them the whole time. should pick it up in matter of seconds.
Hi,
My Inspire is now stuck in a cm7 bootloop after I messed up flasing cm7 to it, and I can't boot into recovery now. I take out the battery and restart it with power + vol- down, but it just loads back into the bootloop and there is no way for me to access any recoveries or the main screen. Is there any way I can completely reset my phone from my computer? It seems like that is my last resort now, so if that is possible I would be completely willing to start over from the beginning with rooting and flashing. Any help is appreciated.
Also, my volume rocker has not been working for the past few hours, and I have no idea if it was broken originally (I doubt that) or if it was broken after a bad root or something. This is the main reason I need to reset it from my computer.
Also, my phone is not being recognized by my computer when I plug it in. The more I think about it the more I realize that I'm probably screwed, so any advice to the contrary would make me love you forever.
try with the power cord attached, holding the volume up,power on until the red led starts flashing, then remove the battery put the battery back in, press the power button. for me this got it into recovery. good luck
Thanks for the help, but it didn't work. At this point I'm just looking for a way to reset it from my computer and start completely over. I don't care about any data or apps I had on there, and I don't even care about the root I had. If anyone knows ANY way to reset my phone back to factory settings (or if AT&T does this) please tell me.
If you vant get your computer to recognize your phone then you cant restore.
Some att stores can do it, but remember you have voided your warranty.
What recovery version are you using? If its an older version then you can plug the phone in while it is off, and it will boot into recovery.
How long have pulled the battery for?

Recovery is volume DOWN plus power for 5 seconds, bootloader its volume up plus power...
Try putting CM7 or any other ROM on your SD card via your computer, using a card reader. Then boot into recovery (volume down plus power), wipe data/cache/Davlik, then install from zip. That should get you up and running.

after updating to insertcoin RC5 rom my phone wont start.....it just vibrates then stops the vibrates again......it goes through that cycle but doesn't start up....how can i fix...
Ok first have you tried to get it to boot to the Hboot screen?. Next if you have and it will not then you can try using ADB to manually boot it into recovery.
Pull the battery.
Put it back in.
Hold the power button and down volume until the bootloader screen comes up. Select 'recovery' and hit the power button again.
You should boot into your recovery module. (4EXT or Clockwork, whatever the case may be)
You can restore your saved backup ROM from there.
If you didn't save before flashing the new ROM...you did an oopsie. But all is not lost. You can download another ROM via your computer, transfer it to your SD card (which you can do directly from 4EXT recovery if you are using it) and start over.
You almost certainly did not break your phone beyond repair by just flashing a ROM. So relax. It'll be okay.
phone wont go into recovery mode.........it doesn't turn on all it does it vibrate then stops and vibrate again.

Worked for me...
I factory reset mine and then installed the stock os md5 to my phone. Works now
I was restoring a backup I made in recovery and it got stuck at restoring data. Like stuck, over an hour. I held the power and volume to go into fastboot and it didn't come up. Just blackness.
Nothing I try can get it to boot or have any screen. Suggestions or did I just brick it?
EDIT: Forgot to mention, my led notification light is green meaning I am charged. (I went into this 100% battery) and holding the power makes capacitive buttons flash like normal, just no screens)
Shut it off and try it again.

I was able to get it to the htc warning splash screen. Now after that it is a black screen that has a white/grey bar acrossed the top. Ugh.
So you can no longer access recovery or fast boot modes on your phone? If so, you may be screwed.

IF you can restart hold power and vol down till the capacitive buttons go off, then release the power and then hold vol down until bl comes up...(I know you tried this before but if it gets to the dev splash screen maybe you can get into bl and recov again.

Just to make sure: did you try wiping everything before you flashed?
Flash your boot.img too ....

Just ruu from fastboot and start over. It should be fine. Don't forget to relock bootloader first.
Just for shyts, from recovery, wipe /system-/fac. reset/both caches- flash ROM, not a backup, and reboot.

Ok.. I'm about to lose hope, please any creative ideas will be much appreciated..
I think i did a big mistake trying to update to the latest nightly release of CM 10.2 using the auto-update feature of cm 10.1...
The end result is a bootloop, gets up to the CM rotating animation for a few seconds and reboots.
on top of that:
unable to get into bootloader using pwr+vol up nor vol down
unable to access device using adb nor fastboot - shows no device connected
the PC does not recognize the device though there are drivers installed, the charging LED lights up but no PC activity
all of the solutions i've seen assume either the recover/bootloader is available or the phone is accessed via fastboot/adb.
in this case neither are correct....
for some time i wanted to upgrade to htc one but not yet....
please help
Press and hold power until the phone shuts off.
Then let go of power and press and hold volume down until bootloader comes up.

tried it again several time, but as I said it doesn't work.
I get a black screen (not the CM animation) and than reboot all over again.
You could try letting it drain completely. Then charge a bit and try again.
Is your phone plugged in while your trying? My phone will not enter bootloader while its plugged in.

You are mostly likely not performing the button combo correctly. If there were no bootloader (hboot), the screen would not be coming on at all. Not getting into bootloader is almost always a case of not doing the button combo correctly. The one possible exception, is if your volume rocker has failed (and simply not registering the vol down being pressed).
Make sure you hold vol down, and do not let go until the while bootloader screen comes up.
Recovery is a different story, as you can indeed not have recovery installed, and the phone will still function. But hboot and recovery are 2 different things.

I wish it was the case,
when i try to go into hboot the device instead of going into another boot until animation cycle, goes into black screen boot cycle. which means most likely that the action (PWR+Vol) does have an effect otherwise it would have continued to go into same boot cycle through the CM animation..
besides there is a recovery installed, or at least was...
is there anyway to re-install the hboot part without the hboot/fastboot availability?
