[Q] can I screw up my galaxy s2 motherboard because I installed a custom rom?

Hi, I followed the procedure for rooting and flashing galaxy s2 gt-i9100 perfectly. I also downloaded the files for my device only and not any other device. The problem started 2 days back when I was on resurrection remix jelly bean rom with Aliyah kernel. I started to randomly not recieve calls. My friends complained that it would go straight to voicemail. So I took it to the service center and they told me the motherboard was screwed. They installed a new motherboard and the phone was working fine until I flashed cyanogenmod 10 with their own kernel. The problem reappeared. Is the problem because I installed the rom or what?

Never heard of such a thing, I do not believe that a custom ROM that was compiled for the correct phone model and flashed correctly is likely to screw up the motherboard. Make the phone act funny such as losing calls? Sure, that could happen and could be the ROM or kernel or firmware, but the motherboard? I don't believe so.
I would flash the stock ROM and kernel back and see if the problem occurs again before drawing any other conclusions.
Have you tried switching baseband?

It could be a bad flash, an incompatible Rom, a conflicting app, bad signal or just bad Carma
I too doubt it can affect a motherboard physically. You can brick your phone when installing if something goes extremely wrong (very rare these days), but the physical board should be just fine.
Did you flash back to stock before taking it to the service center? They might not even be able to read the phone's software if it's not stock.
Most will just send you away if they see you have been flashing roms :-/
I hope it was under warranty, because if they "replaced the Mother board" on your dime, I think you got hosed. It worked fine, because they set it back to Stock.
I think they saw that you flashed a custom ROM and just reversed it to stock and told you they changed the motherboard cause i doubt it is the custom ROM fault.....just yesterday i rooted and flashed such a device and works fine
Maybe its even the baseband version the problem.....once a rom didnt booted up.on a galaxy 5 and after a changed it the device runned well

Maybe the new custom rom found other cell site for you always check the network and signal.
Anyway the carrier was just messing with about the motherboard they dislike custom roms.
i flashed back to the offical firmware and the problem still was there.

HELP! 1337M flashed with custom rom now radio not working!

Hey everyone. So ill give you a quick background here.
I got the new sIII so I took my old sII and rooted it and started messing around with roms ext to get to know the basics, I still dont know them but at least I didnt brick my new phone. Got used to odin, CWM and TWRP(not so much still getting ot know this one)
So I now have the sIV (sgh-I337M) and I was upset when I bought the galaxy gear watch and couldnt connect it to my phone. (OBV because it isnt a note3 and its not running 4.3 JB)
So I go on a mission. Rooting and Rom'ing my SIV to 4.3. some roms worked, some didnt. Found one that worked flawlessly! installed it started setting it up the way I wanted it and everything was going well, all the while connected to wifi. The problem comes when I tryed to text someone. I have no radio.... Crap.... So I realized maybe its because I didnt install a build prop?? What is a build prop? How does one install a pre-made build prop? is this even my problem?
Here is the thread I used to get my rom (The only rom that isnt constantly having "com.xxx.xxx" unexpectedly stopping or failing) and it runs flawlessly on my phone except for the radio problems... I downloaded and installed 2013.09.07 ROM
I assumed the attatched file ge4.3-build.prop-i337m.zip is a build prop that I need to add into the phone some how and this may fix my problem.
I know this type of problem has been addressed a million times. Unfortunatly Im at work right now and I can take the time to search thousands of threads for this answer. altho I assure you I never registered untill today because everything Ive needed to know untill now has been answered with a bit of searching thru this exilent foums culture.

[Q] galaxy note i717 rebooting and IMEI and baseband Unknown.

Hey guys I have an issue with a galaxy note I717 from AT&T, i just bought it from a friend of mine who reset to factory defaut settings and out of nothing the phone lost the IMEI, baseband and newtwork. it says it is unknown. besides that the phone kept reestarting every 2 min maximun, it would boot up to the main screen and give me enough time to check the settings, then it would reboot. I was looking for different roms arround the site and tried several differents, no matter witch one I used the phone will always reboot. I tried restoring to the GB aT&T stock rom, same thing, the only Rom to seem that fixed the reboot issue was a ICS stock room that is supposed to unbrick the galaxy, the phone stays on and everything but it still says no IME no basend no IMEI SV.
just to let you know I have tried several different modems, nothing works.
I am just wondering if you guys have any idea why the phone will only work with that ICS stock room and no otherone? and any possible fix to the IMEI?
thanks a lot in advance.
Hi there,

Unable to flash stock firmware

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F on virgin mobile. I rooted it once and after around 2 weeks my phone started turning off out of the blue for no reason but would always turn back on and then one day it never did. I managed to flash the stock OS back on the the phone to fix this problem and around a month later the same problem came again, even though i was not rooted anymore so i had to flash it again and it worked but now every time i try it fails almost instantaneously. Anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve it?

rom runs after flash, after reboot stalls

I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 i337m .. Two different ROM's now have worked great, but same two screwed up after I got everything set up. Once it reboots it gets stuck on the first screen (Samsun Galaxy S4) and will not move forward from there into the program. Any ideas as to how I can fix this problem. You thing it could have anything to do with the kernel. The phone is rooted but is it rooted deep enough? I don't know i'm at a loss.. I'm Andy ( [email protected] ) if you can help
