Hey guys I have an issue with a galaxy note I717 from AT&T, i just bought it from a friend of mine who reset to factory defaut settings and out of nothing the phone lost the IMEI, baseband and newtwork. it says it is unknown. besides that the phone kept reestarting every 2 min maximun, it would boot up to the main screen and give me enough time to check the settings, then it would reboot. I was looking for different roms arround the site and tried several differents, no matter witch one I used the phone will always reboot. I tried restoring to the GB aT&T stock rom, same thing, the only Rom to seem that fixed the reboot issue was a ICS stock room that is supposed to unbrick the galaxy, the phone stays on and everything but it still says no IME no basend no IMEI SV.
just to let you know I have tried several different modems, nothing works.
I am just wondering if you guys have any idea why the phone will only work with that ICS stock room and no otherone? and any possible fix to the IMEI?
thanks a lot in advance.

Similar thing happened to me with Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I just restored a back up of CleanRom I had and the IMEI and baseband was restored.
Ok, i know they are many topics like this but i have read almost everything and still have the same problem...Let's star the whole history:
I have a sgh i727 skyrocket (obviously) and at first it was just the phone network signal that comes and goes...Later i decide to google search the problem and try some solutions....None of them works...worse, after that, i see not network and the imei 0/00. Ok no big deal, just reflashing with odin to the last official rom JB 4.1.2 with the clean instalation (wipe everything). Same issue!!!! I have try almost everything, EFS repair, apk from play store like sgs tool, gsII repair...Flashing Radio I727UCMC1...I have even try NV_reader/writer but no resullts...Nothing works...
So please help!
Dang the only thing that I thought would have worked was NV_read/write but you tried that......if you go to sammobile and go to unlock a device and pick your phone they have a option for imei repair, that's the only thing I would think that would help

Hello, this is my first post and also my first major problem with an android phone. I have been searching high and low on the internet for over a month now for an answer to my problem but apparently no one out there have experienced something similar. So, my story: I bought this thl t100s in march and it run without a glitch until i decided to root and try new roms. Used vroot without problems and flashed a newer version from needrom. This is when it went pear-shaped. After reboot I lost signal, invalid IMEI and nvram error. So I restored IMEI and fixed nvram but I never been able to regain network. Phone just couldn't connect to network. Not even "emergency call only". Reverted to stock, flashed about every rom and firmware I could find, installed twrp recovery, used mobile uncle, mtk tools, sn_writter tool, maui meta, nothing helped. The phone is searching for network but is never able to connect. Also, I tested quite a few sim cards that are working in other phones. So I'm assuming it is not a rom issue, but goes deep inside the android system, like the system cannot connect to the phone radio. I have no idea what to do next or if there is anything that can be done. I would really appreciate your help, any ideas or suggestions.
Thank you
Well playing with IMEI can be dangerous and should not be done. Though it seems like all you did was restored stock one. I'm guessing you can try restoring stock baseband. A search led me this thread of a user having similar problem- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392203 The device is different but some solutions there are worth a try.

Thanks AJ, had a look at the post but samsung phones are a bit different from mtk based devices. I have checked my IMEI and is not blocked, as to phisical damage that's something I'll probably never know. I have successfully restored IMEI even tried some from my ancient back-up phones. no luck. Now baseband didn't seem to make any difference whether they came with the rom or I flush them separately. All I can think of is that there is a lost connection between the operating system and baseband and modem, like nvram is not being loaded/mounted by system. Slowly but surly I'm running out of options.
Well, @Perseus71 suggested that you should go back to complete stock and stock modem to get that working again. You can get further help here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help

My girlfriend's AT&T S4 loses connection, but still shows it connected. So you never know you don't have a connection until you reboot the phone and find that you have missed 2 phone calls, 3 emails, and 15 texts. This happened with the stock Rom. I've tried a couple of different roms, but still the same outcome. I'm thinking I should have to switch to a different modem, but I'm not sure which one to use. Am I wrong and is there another solution? I'm looking for something that will work so I don't have to mess with it again. If anyone has experienced this connection loss and found a solution, please let me know what to do to fix this phone.
definitively you need to update the modem.
2 ways to achieve the update: either by a new rom firmware (http://live.samsung-updates.com/?device=GT-I9505), either by just update gsm modem/wifi fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50965837&postcount=2627)
But I strongly suggest before, to look at what your device model is. Mine is S4 LTE international = GT-i9505.
Don't know yours.
Hope that helps.
Ahh... a response. Thank you
So if I change the Rom, that will change the modem too? I thought the modem stayed with the phone and you had to change that separately. This can get so confusing at times. But this is good news never the less. The model number of the phone is GT-i9505G running a custom Rom ( Super-Nexus ) 4.4.4, baseband version 1337UCUFNB1, Kernel version 3.4.0-1125940 [email protected] #1
I hope this information helps you understand what I have so you can find a solution. Thank you for all your help
You're right. changing the rom doesn't update your modem unless you flash a stock firmware via odin. But read carefully as samsung at&t version is specific (meaning specific firmware).
You will find bunch of files by looking at "modem galaxy s4 i337" on xda thread. Depend on what you will find, either only modem/wifi fix either the full stock firmware, you need to update via Odin.
also a good start is to take a look at xda thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
And it seems that AT&T already realease some new stock firmware > http://www.att.com/esupport/softwareUpdateArticle.jsp?sid=KB419415&cv=820&partner=LinkShare&siteId=TnL5HPStwNw-V7YmgDyzwWW7TSi7CwkqtA
I tried a Note 4 Rom first
I have a Note 3, I've had a Note 2 (I loved the macro setting and wished they'd kept it for the Note 3), so I thought I would try the Note 4 Rom on my girlfriend's problematic S4. It got stuck in a boot loop. I ended up using the link you gave me for the stock (but upgraded) AT&T Rom. I see it brought the phone from NB1 to NJ4 firmware. I'm hoping this improvement will solve the problem of a connection loss bring that is a factory firmware upgrade. She can also get OTA updates again. Thank you for your help. Now it's time to find a different Rom for my Nvidia Tegra Note 7. This thing is terribly slow after the upgrade to Lollipop!
Note 4 has a complete different hardware from S4. That's why you had boot loop.

Ok to cut a long story short managed to get the s6 in the rom but only when I install a unikernel either v6 or v8.
When in rom the imei is corrupt 350000000006?.
Is the unikernel doing this? if so I've tried loads of stock roms but all seem to freeze on the samsung galaxy s6 logo what can i do to fix this?.
I do have a efs folder as I used es explorer to check and there seem to be a lot of files in there the only one i couldnt see was modem and im unsure if it is kept in there, I have tried flashing a new bootloader and modem but they continue to fail in odin.
Any suggestions?, BTW have managed to revert my imei to original as on the back cover of the phone with software but even so it still says not registered on network even though there are signal bars, Ive tried going to network and search network it finds O2 vodafone etc but it just says unable to connect try later?
There must be some expert on here how can help?, also does anyone think flashing pit file will help?, if so do you know which one i need.
Thanks
