I have seen many threads saying you need a 50.01 micro sim for the one x to work on tmobile. I haven't seen threads with any info since about july... Does this still apply with the at&t one x? I have a micro sim with 50.05 and was thinking of buying an unlocked at&t one x.
Never heard of such a thing. An unlocked hox will work on tmobile for voice and edge data. In select areas 3G will also work, but this is dependent on tmobile and where they're testing out new spectrum.

I just sim-unlocked my at&t one x and I'm on T-Mobile but I already have an galaxy s3 with the micro sim card. And I'll tell you the data speed flys.
Well I have a Hox running T-Mobile network in LA . And for the last three months my data speed's are blazingly fast . And it isn't unheard of as long as you get the right micro SIM . And yes I get 3g speeds at home and away from home I get 4g all day long and it fast as lightning and I have the original one x S720e quad core

I think if you live in a non-refarmed area, you can't use the normal tmobile apn settings. I had the same problem with gba sim but if you switch the apn to wap.tzones.com instead of epc.tmobile.com the phone works on edge data just fine.

I think you are confused I know where I live and my data has worked fine with my T-Mobile sim card since I got the phone. I get 2g,3g,3.5g with the regular T-Mobile apn.

I don't know if you can get 3g speeds with that apn, I just know it allowed me to get data with my new tmobile sim. I had no data access at all using the epc.tmobile.com apn last night and this morning.
Ok I understand. Good fix for someone to try if other options fail

well i used the epc apn and my data signal fluctuations would be unbearable - full lte to no data at all. the tzones apn seems to be a bit more stable

So heres a question. When i talked to the sales rep they said i would be getting a new sim card. So if thats the case is the new card compatable with my current Tilt 2 phone (HTC Rhodium) since the Inspire is not a world phone?

heck, they put the 'cingular' sim in the inspire from my krazr and it works fine.
The sim card i am using is from my old tilt 2. They just moved it from my old phone into my new Inspire working great.
Sounds like the sales rep you dealt with was a confused. New sim cards have been released for LTE, but they are not supposed to be activating them until the old sim cards are depleted.
AT&T has released a new batch of SIM cards that will support HSPA+ and future LTE devices. I have attached a image of what the new SIM looks like. You will not notice any difference between the new SIM's until you begin using LTE devices in 2012.

you guys do realize that ATT is marketing their 4G, when its actually only HSPA+?
also, you seem to think that the SIM card is going to need to be changed for '4G' speeds? why? the only thing that needs to change for '4G' is the hardware has to support it.
SIMS cards do need to be changed from time to time because of types of services or network upgrades.
Older SIM cards may still work but that doesnt mean you will always get full network/sevice potential.
There is good reading outside of XDA about this if you search a little, and ignore the junk search results

What's this then:
http://www.bgr.com/2010/10/21/att-starts-switching-to-lte-compatible-sim-cards/
Cingular changed their UICC profile (SIM) in 2005 when they introduced ISIM and USIM profiles to support 3G. Now to support LTE, they've introduced... wait for it... a new SIM! OMG!!!!
BTW, LTE unlike HSPA+ uses a totally different core called EPC and thus has a different APN and several other new profile settings.
BTW, BTW, APN is typically a device driven setting and NOT a UICC setting. There's a difference.

What do folks know about the MT4GS on the AT&T network? I used the Sensation exploit to sim unlock the phone. Got the code, entered it and it says network unlock successful but I can't get it to connect to the AT&T network once I insert the AT&T sim. I attempted to add the AT&T apn settings to the MT4GS but they won't save. I have a network unlocked MT4GS and an AT&T sim card.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Is your sim card activated? And have the proper data plan?
You need to go to the att store and have it activated and then have the towers updated.
Thats what my brother in law just told me who works at att. He said you can call them as well.
I actually have an att sim he gave me thats active, but needs to be paid, so i couldnt test it. I used it to unlock the phone.

Love you all are weighing in so quickly to help me think about this problem. XDA really is the best. I've tried all the things suggested and still no luck. I just had a thought that I'd like to run by you all. The phone is 4g. Do I need a 4g sim card from AT&T? The sim card is active. It's moving from an unlocked T-Mobile Vibrant to this unlocked T-Mobile MT4GS. So I know that the sim card works and can be used in an off-network device. But I don't know much about 3g/4g and sim cards. The current plan is 3g data on AT&T.
The problem is that the MT4GS behaves as if the sim isn't even there. I can put in a Simple Mobile sim and it fires right up. I can put the AT&T sim back into the Vibrant and it works right away. So how do plans work with sim cards?
If it is a 3g plan will the MT4GS not even see the sim card?
You guys rock.
It could be. make sure the sim is in right way and it isnt badly damaged. Since simple mobile works it leads me to think the sim is having an issue of some sort.
I would try getting a new sim from att with a 4g plan, see if that works. If im not mistaken, theyre free, if you get a paid plan.

After you enter the new AT&T APN settings make sure you hit the menu key to actually save the APN settings. Just hitting the back button well NOT save the settings at all. I'm using the MT4GS with my AT&T account and everything works great. Although you well NOT get 4g or even 3g, you well get 2g.

Just wanted to confirm it's working here too. AT&T sim (it's a 4G sim, from my SGS2) in a sim-unlocked myTouch 4G Slide running Bulletproof 1.something. APN had to be entered manually, but I didn't have to manually tell it to use AT&T.
The issue was Cyanogenmod. I don't know why or how but once I flashed Bulletproof 1.1 it took the AT&T sim fine. I reflashed CM in order to verify and it wouldn't take the sim again. I don't know. After flashing Bulletproof 1.1, I used the Tweakker app (an app I wish could be included in every rom) to get my AT&T APN settings and everything worked from there. Thanks everyone for the troubleshooting help. I don't know why it seems to have issues with our CM rom and the AT&T sim card.
The phone is, as we all know, limited to the edge network while on AT&T. Thanks peeps.
I'm new so stick with me, I want to unlock

Just wanted to give you a heads up on my experience today based on the N5 and AT&T. I walked in and told them what phone i was waiting for and they pretty much set me up in 5 mins with a sim and a plan. They said when i get the phone i should be able to put the sim in and it will activate. He did say that i may have to come in to have the APN fixed if im not seeing the correct speeds. It was a lot easier then i expected, but if your interested in using the N5 with at&t just go in and they can have everything set up for you for the arrival of your N5. As of right now, I'm on their mobile share plan, But i can easily switch to prepaid if i want. I don't don't trust prepaid when it comes to speeds and coverage.
idk about prepaid but hopefully i will just take mine out of my One and throw it in the N5
Just a heads up, you will not have to go in to AT&T to have them make APN changes. You can find all of the different APN settings for AT&T here on XDA on many different threads. That being said, I have the HTC One Google Edition and did not have to change the APN settings at all when I stuck in my sim. I had LTE immediately.
If you do need to change the APN settings they are really easy to do in the settings of the phone, but hopefully the phone will read your sim and know automatically which APN to use.

Here is a post that has them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26821716
To get there you go to Settings>More>Mobile networks>Access Point Names > the either select the AT&T PTA from the list or hit the plus button to add the APN settings in this post.
I will take a screen shot in a minute and post it, I have to switch my AT&T Sim card back into my phone to do it (I am using a TMobile sim for a while to see the differences).
Here is a screen shot of the APN selection screen and then the settings held within the PTA APN (which is the LTE APN for AT&T). Just a note this is 4.3 but I am sure it will be very similar on 4.4. Good luck. Mine won't be here until the 7th, after that I will know for sure if it has the pre-programmed APN's.

I would not expect to see this on AT&T at all. The nexus 4 never made it there, but it was at T-Mobile. That does not mean that it will not work on AT&T though. I have been using nexus phones on AT&T's network since the Nexus One without any problem. You do have to make sure you have an LTE enabled plan to get LTE however. You should be able to do that online.
I too have an HTC One on AT&T. I converted it to a GPe though and receive OTAs. That said, I never had to change APNs either with that device. My N5 should be here before the 7th and I can tell everyone if it's a simple sim swap or changing of APNs

I think both work for LTE now. I just checked and seem to come up with the same results with LTE speeds. Something else you might want to check is if MMS works on both APN's. Sometimes this is another area that gets messed up when switching APN's.
