Hello My Friends I've Heard You Are Having Troubler Installing The New Upgrade Or Understanding What Is Needed To Be Done.
Note: THIS IS A WINDOWS BASED HOW TO AND WILL WORK ON WINDOWS ONLY
Before I Start I must Say, This Is a combination of process and I have not created any of those files or own the right to them so all the links are the same links found on other posts from where i got the info, so by downloading those files you are, supporting them not me i take no credit for this work
Well Here Is the quick Easy Guide In How To Do This
-Fist we Need To Get The Tools To Perform This Operation
pulled From This Tread we need
1. Motorola Drivers For Either 32 or 64 Bits
2. RSD Lite, witch is a tool for flashing your phone.
3. The GOT Open Recovery ToolUpdate: Added Latest version from G.O.T.'S Blog
4.The Firmware Files From Got
2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES

EDIT: G.O.T. Has Added the burnerable open recovery to these sfb files so no need to flash it latter
-Now That We Have The Stuff We Need We are going to do it, fist i must say that unlike other roms that are applied by a backup restore (corect me if im whrong) this is a full flash and its going to reset everything so no apps will remain no setting will remain and is highly recommended that you uninstall every app you have, don't back them up(except for apps some apps that have a create backup file, those seem to work) just uninstall them, and when we are done have them installed again, Here Is A Tool That Will Help You Get There Faster
1.ok you have everything uninstalled right? now time for some action
2.install the proper divers (32 or 64)
3.install the RSD Lite tool
4.unzip the 2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES you downloaded and you will find a ".sbf" file
5.now connect your phone to USB cable and turn it off
6.boot it in boot-loader mode (press the D-PAD UP key while pressing the power button), some night need you to release the button after a minute, a black screen will be shown on your phone and you will see the divers being installed on your computer.
7.when drivers are done open the RSD Lite tool and your device should appear you can click on it to see details.
8.now click on the "..." buttons that are close to the start button and look for the ".sbf" file, after a couple of seconds it should be ready to start
9.press the start button and do not unplug the cable or let your computer show the screen saver or go to sleep, the posses must not be stopped while it has started .
10.when the posses is done the devise will restart and voala, you have 2.2
-As GOT stands there are some bugs on the firmware and they have developed a fix to them and get root and overclock, here is what you have to do.
1. unzip the got open recovery tool into the root of your SD card
2.check this quote
NOTE: On some devices, we have encountered that rooting directly after flashing without rebooting after the initial flash can bring some issues with RootExplorer not asking for root permissions. To be safe, reboot after flash so that the “welcome to milestone” menu comes up, set up the device in general, then reboot to recovery and root the device as well as apply our 2.2.1 tweaks with Launcher, Services.jar fix and Wireless Tethering app.
Click to collapse
this means if the fist time your milestone got restarted and you saw "Welcome to Milestone" Message You are good an you can root.
but if you didn't then restart you phone and see if the message comes out, if not , a factory reset should have that scree message shown.
3. open the open recovery by pressing camera and power button at the same time while the device id off. you should see a scree with a "!" symbol on it then press fist volume rocker up button a leave it pressed then press camera button, some letter will pop out.
4. using the pad scroll down to "apply update.zip", after a couple of seconds the GOT menu should pop out (everything from now on uses the pad)
5.root your phone (why not)
6.go down to "Launch 2.2.1 Menu" Option.
7.Here you will see the "Fix Bugs They Are Talking About
One of the first things you should do is use the “Fix 2.2.1 bugs” selection in the new OR 2.2.1 menu after you flash the sbf file.
This tweak will fix some of the issues with the generic sbf build such as dual USB notifications, replacing some stock Motorola applications such as the old launcher/mediagallery and adding the Wireless Tethering application.
Click to collapse
8. there is the overclock too.
Now your device should have all the things you need to start playing with it,I encourage you to check on some tweaks the GOT team might have, and you might want.
I Hope This Was Helpful enjoy ^_^

Thank for this tutorial.

Flash on milestone is so cool
something i don't get
I updated the firmware with RSD Lite, and used the one click tool, because:
whenever i try to hit update.zip i will get an errormessage, stating that these blocks couldn't be found -> ergo, the card not be mounted.
The HTC stuff i always managed, but this one is a mistery to me. Also, i did format fat32, pushed the stuff and then straight on bootup trying to hit the update.zip, without success.
I've read about how other people solved that problem, none of those approaches helped me.
Any hint is more than welcome.
2 bugs i've discovered so far: Battery drain like almost to be declared useless, some market apps "vanish" after installing them. I suppose those fixes would have done the job. I might attempt to use root explorer and execute the scripts like that, still I'd like to know why I'm unable to get the update.zip, resp. the G.O.T or any other "intelligent" boot menu installed.
Edit2: Even when installing the vulnerable sbf, i still get the error: E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 ....

Root phone from the GOT OR menu doesn't seem to actually root my phone (2.2.1 UK version)
Superuser whitelist app FCs instead of prompting to allow access. Have tried using Better Terminal for root access & also Wireless Tether app.
Anyone else getting this? Any ideas? Do any of the 1-click root apps still work with this build of Froyo? Which can we use?

I'd like to add something for Linux users:
Using a virtual machine (virtualizing WinXP) that has USB support (eg Oracle VM VirtuaBox, since VirtualBox OSE does not support USB forwarding) can do this pretty easy. So no worries when trying this via a VM.
i try to instal GOT and its succesfull.

Hi all.
Overclocking for your Rooted Droid 2 and Droid X on Linux/Mac and now Windows! Before continuing, consider this alternate method.
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/10/22/how-to-overclock-the-droid-x-or-droid-2/#more-17844
If you get a permission error through adb shell, use the Terminal Emulator app and enter SU, then run the script again.
Instruction for Mac:
1. Extract files. Doubleclick the dooverclock.zip file, and drag and drop the folder to your desktop.
2. Next, open terminal, and navigate to your folder. It'll be something like cd /desktop/dooverclock or cd /Desktop/dooverclock.
3. Now you need to change permissions to the dooverclock file. Enter:
chmod 0755 dooverclock.sh
4. Make sure you are in PC Mode. USB debugging should be enabled. Don't need icon showing.
5. Run dooverclock.sh by entering:
./dooverclock.sh
6. Follow directions of the UI.
Instruction for Linux:
1. Extract files. Doubleclick the dooverclock.zip file, and drag and drop the folder to your desktop.
2. Open the folder and right click the dooverclock.sh file. Go to permissions and go down toward the bottom of the window and check the allow file to be executed or something like that. Press ok.
3. Make sure you are in PC Mode. USB debugging should be enabled. Don't need icon showing.
4. Run dooverclock.sh by double clicking it, and choosing run in terminal.
5. Follow directions of the UI.
Instructions for Windows:
How-to Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ieaiSxamDg
1. Extract folder from zip. Open the .zip and drag and drop the folder onto the desktop.
2. Make sure phone is in either Charge only or PC Mode with USB debugging enabled.
3. Open the folder and double-click dooverclock.bat, and follow the UI
4. Hope it succeed, check with SetCPU.
How to use the custom.sh
All you have to do is edit the custom.sh file, edit your settings, and save the file. From there, just open the scripts and choose to overclock using the custom.sh file.

Added Windows version! It ain't pretty, but it'll work. I hope...
Found something on the mac side. ADB fails to run with the version you included. Works if you copy the adb binary file from your android SDK folder. :]
EDIT: Playing around with this a bit...working great so far. Running @ 1.1GHz, pretty stable. Is there any way to add more slots? For example 300/500/700/900/1100?
When you say set with setCPU, are you referring to the market app of the same name?
I answered my own question. Running nicely at 400/700/900/1200 on Epic 2.7, this is great
getting ready to dl and try... question tho... do we need to do this after each reboot, or will this stick? (or is there a simple method from the phone since you already put the files on there?)
Thanks and keep up the good work... will donate on payday!
:O!! Will have to try after class today. Nice work!
currently you have to do it after every reboot, there is a way to make it semi permanent but you still have to execute the files on every boot

Hey darkonion, if you use this overclock method with setCPU, does the "set on boot" option from within setCPU actually work? Or does this truly have to be redone every time the phone phone is power-cycled?

New Windows script up. Cleaner. And should run a little more efficiently. Updated Linux and Mac version as well.
Updated windows version again!
Introduction: It has come to my attention that many of us windows users are still using odin for upgrading to Ginger bread and recovering from soft bricks. I have found the heimdall one click method is easier to use and more stable for flashing your phone from a computer. I am trying to make this guide as noob proof and simple as possible. Given how simple the one click method is it should not be hard (although if you are new to this device it can prove to be difficult if you don't read and understand everything).
Please be sure to format your sd card if this is the first time you are flashing ginger bread. If you have problems converting to ext4 using one of the rooted one clicks it is suggested you create a 2048 partition in cwm.
The first five steps are to help get heimdall and everything needed to use it installed on your windows computer. If you already have heimdall you can skip to steps 6&7.
Please read everything in this guide before proceeding and be sure to read everything else mentioned in this guide. proceed slowly if this is your first time. I recommend a print out, double check everything, and cross off each step as you go. Slow and methodical = smooth = fast and efficient with perfect results. Remember the best way to gain knowledge and learn to do almost anything is to READ.
If you have used the one click method and have any suggestions for this guide please feel free to comment.
Disclaimer: You are flashing your device at your own risk. No one but you can be held responsible if you make a mistake. Some one click packages contain bootloaders and flashing incorrect bootloaders may hard brick your device. Never flash a one click package that is not clearly labeled for your device by model number.
Warning: if you are on a Mac running osx 10.5 or higher there is a problem with the re partition function in heimdall. since you must flash boot loaders these packaged are designed to re partition automatically. It is recommend you use a windows or Linux parallel to flash.
On to the guide:
1: first you will need to download and unzip the lastest heimdall front end. This package can be found at http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Please read and understand everything that this website has to offer about the program before use.
2: after you have unziped the heimdall front end package open the containing folder and click on the "Read Me" text file. This file contains troubleshooting tips, driver installation, installation procedures, and instructions for flashing other heimdall supported files to your device. Oh yeah and they don't call it Read Me for nothing
3: you will also need to download and install the package labeled "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributables" and get java 1.6 do I have Java?. Simply download and run (double click) the executable files.
4: Once you have downloaded and unziped heimdall front end, installed java 1.6, and installed the C++ packages you will need to install your device drivers (this process is also explained in the read me file you should have read).
A: Place your device into download mode and plug it into your computer. How to get into download mode
B: Open the unziped heimdall folder then open the the "drivers" folder and run (double click) the "zadig" application
C: Click the "options" menu and make sure "list all devices" is checked.
D: from the drop down menu choose "Samsung USB composite device"
E: Click the "install drivers" button and let it do its thing.
Note: if you have trouble installing drivers try again. If "Samsung USB composite device" is not an option unplug your device re run zadig and take note of what options have disappeared.
5: Now it is time for you to choose your one click package. If you would like help choosing the package that is right for you please feel free to ask.The threads I am linking to are only for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G device from T-Mobile, Model# SGH-T959V. If this is not your device do not flash the one click packages I am linking to. If this is your device these are the ONLY one click packages available. Again, never flash a firmware package not clearly labeled with the exact same model number as the device you are flashing to.
Choose and download the one click package of your choice. Remember to read the OP of each thread before making your decision. If you have a question feel free to ask here.
A: kj6 one click collection
This thread contains three one click packages to choose from. All are from the official Galaxy S 4G Ginger Bread Upgrade to 2.3.6 or KJ6. Read the OP to choose the one that is right for you.
B: kf1 one click package
This was the first one click package we obtained for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. It was from a leaked version of gingerbread 2.3.3 or KF1. I, and Most, do not recommend you use it because the boot loaders change the button mapping for recovery and download modes (this can cause problems trying to revert) ;but, I would like to give credit to the creator of the one click packager and will include his thread and work as such.
6: Now that you have installed heimdall and chosen a one click package its time to flash. Close your heimdall folders and forget about them for now. put your device in download mode and connect it to your computer How to get into download mode
A: Run (double click) your "oneclick.jar" package. Yes, they are supposed to be executable files (be patient it may take a minute to load)
B: Read the "package information" section and ensure you are flashing a one click package designed specifically for your device by model number.
C: do nothing else except click "flash"
D: wait for device to reboot
E: If you are upgrading to GB from froyo do not close your "oneclick.jar". You will need to repeat step 6 a second time with the "flash bootloaders" box checked. Please also ensure you have read the disclaimer.
7: At this point your device will be in one of these three states
A: rebooted and running as factory
B: in the stock Samsung 3E blue recovery in which case you should use the volume buttons to navigate to reboot device and use the power button to select reboot device
C: In a CWM recovery where you should use the volume buttons to navigate to reboot device and use the power button to select reboot device.
That's It! Happy flashing!

odin vs. heimdall comparison
Most of us here are used to Odin and can make it work; however, it is an unstable, proprietary, windows only, unsupported program. It often will not recognize your device or you get a better experience with v 1.7 or v 1.85 or maybe it is just picky with your computer or device. I had both the above mentioned versions installed on my desktop in case I had problems with one or the other. This, to me, is totally unacceptable. Now we have heimdall and I encourage you to make the switch. It is an ongoing project that is cross platform, supported, and open source. This means it is based on the same fundamentals as Android proving any developer the opportunity to help make it better, faster, or more user friendly. Take the one click project for example: now, with heimdall installed on your system, you can simply execute a pre programmed flash and your done with your device flashed as the developer intended. I admit it is a few clicks not just one but, it hasn't given me any problems, it tells me exactly what it's doing in a language I understand, and it is super easy. So at least give it a shot, bet you will like it

Choosing the right driver
Hi there,
I don't see the Samsung USB Composite Device in the drop down box when running Zadig. What I have is below:
Samsung_Android
CDC Abstract Control Model (ACM)
Android UMS
S3C6410 Android ADB
Driver failed to install for Samsung_Android. Should I try any of the other options?
Thanks for helping a bricked noob out!

Was your phone in download mode?
Unplug your device and re run zadig. Take note if any options disappear. If so re plug your device and try it. If not report back.

its honestly the far superior option and comeing from a linux based world where i dindt have to deal with odin as much Its great tried odin on windows and really its far superior and alot more stable then odin.. its worth learning tbh
Further adventures in un-bricking with Heimdall
Thanks for your quick replies!
1). I was able to get the driver installed, using the Samsung_Android. When I connect the phone it now shows up in the device manager. Picture 1 attached (libusb - Samsung Android).
2). I'm not sure what mode my phone is in. When I press the power button I get first the startup screen....Picture 2.
Then I get this screen "Android System Recovery 3e" and a range of options. The volume control is flipped i.e pressing down causes the menu to go up. (Picture 3)
There is no way to "select" any of the options. Only one of the buttons at the base of the screen seems to work: the menu button causes the text on the screen to disappear and only leaves the green android with triangle exclamation point. (Picture 4)
Heimdall does not detect that the phone is connected....Picture 5.
Any suggestions what I should try next? This is a Galaxy S 4G t959V.
Thanks so much for all your help! What an introduction to the world of Android!

You are currently in recovery mode running whatever bad boot loaders you flashed. Use this method to enter download mode
1 pull out battery
2 hold Vol up Vol down at the same time
3 plug USB cable into phone and computer
4 re insert battery and continue to hold both Vol buttons until your phone displays something.
unfortunately it is possible the bad boot loaders you flashed may have messed up your button mapping. if you try the above mentioned method for download mode multiple times and only end up back in the same recovery screen please direct me to the thread you flashed the bad boot loaders from
Good luck

Thanks for that link fb. Will add this to the OP in a bit. Maybe we should edit the wiki to show pictures of download mode since we have found a couple different screens other than the one mentioned. Oh crap taking my own thread off topic

Yup, anyone can update the wiki I'm going to add guides little by little into it so we can just link new users to it. I realized after typing for the 20th time how to get into download mode that it'd be easier to just use the wiki.

Is it fine if we use your picture in the wiki? People would really appreciate it.
Now that you're in download mode you can use the one click to recover your phone.
Please feel free to use any or all of the pictures!
My utmost thanks to you guys! The "experts" at tmobile basically told me that i had a paperweight and would need a new phone!

Just got back. I just flashed it using the file below and put a check mark on the bootloaders.
The file I'm using is from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
pics attached. However, now the phone seems to be dead and I can't even turn it on....
I did leave the phone connected to USB and it was showing the downloading screen for the 2 hours while I was away...
What now?
Thanks,
M

Here you go.
Serial end with a W.
Thanks,

Download the program from: WindowsAndroid
Run as administrator and install the program.
Install Gapps:
1. Download gapps for ICS HERE.
2. Unzip the gapps.
3. Find the system folder that was unzipped, then go into the apps folder. Copy all of the apks
4. Go to C:\SocketeQ\windowsandroid_root\system\apps
5. Paste all of the apks in that directory.
6. Restart Windowsandroid
7. Enjoy gapps.
Note: You will now be able to add a Google account and get into Google Play but there is not really anything in the Play Store at this time.
Note #2: There have been reports that, this may not work on AMD processors. Intel seem to work just fine.
Very cool. Like you say, little you can do with it so far and very regular crashes even just using Play Store and built-in apps, but definitely one to keep an eye on.
The emulator won't even start.
I get an error in the cmd window that app_process(4776) terminated abnormally.
I got some screenshots if it helps.

Are you running it as an administrator? If so try removing the program from Add or Remove programs. Then going to your C: drive and delete the file SocketeQ. Re install the program, once it is installed open WindowsAndroid first. Then close it and install the Gapps after running it one time. See if that helps anything.

Sorry for late reply, lots of school lately.
I get to bootanimation/loading screen, then the error comes.
Has anyone found out how to switch to Full-Screen or change resolution yet?

As of right now you just have to try and see what you can get to work. This is a very early release and so there are a lot of things that need fixed. I just want to let people know that this is out there and that its something to look out for.

Installed through the Play store, nothing. Even if you can find an app listed as compatible, they won't download. Manually installed, try it and see.

There are many people who might be suffering from errors like “Graphic card should be updated”, “Graphic card not supported” or “Insufficient memory or hardware error” while installing Bluestacks in their low specs system. It could be easily resolved. It is possible to bypass this error by a software called Oracle. Oracle is a table editor of Microsoft Database that allows you to edit Windows Installer packages (.msi) files. With the advancement in software technology, it is crossing the barriers of hardware tendency. After following some simple editing and tweaking you would be easily able to install Bluestacks with 1 GB RAM or without graphic card.
Steps to install Bluestacks in low specs system:
At first, download Bluestacks Offline installer from this page
BlueStacks_HD_AppPlayerICS_setup_0.8.5.3042_REL.msi

NOTE: This trick only works on Offline installer not on Split installer.
Now, download and install Orca Software from this link – Download Orca.
After finishing the installation of Orca, go to the Bluestacks offline installer file which you have downloaded from the above link.
Right click on the Bluestacks offline installer file and select “Edit with Orca” as shown in the below image.
It would open the window of Orca. Click on “Launch Condition” on your left side and select “Installed OR Physical Memory >= 1024” Condition as shown in the below image. Delete this option and press OK.
Now, go to “InstallExecuteSequence” and select “CheckMsiSignature” as shown in the below image. Delete this option also and press OK.
Now, go to “Property” and double click on the “TRUE” value of GLMODE. Replace it with FALSE and press Enter.
Now, Click on the Save button icon and close Orca software.
That’s it you are done. Now, try installing Bluestacks from the saved Offline installer setup file. Hopefully, it will run in your system successfully this time.

Thanks for the simple instructions. Installed fine on my linx 7 tablet once i'd fixed the bluestacks installer.
Unfortunately it displays at 90 degrees to the orientation of the win8.1 desktop and frankly runs slower than a sleeping man.
I had hoped to re-purpose my linx7 as an android device but not yet clearly. They're so well priced I'm sure there'll be some interesting hacks along in time.
Thanks again.
Hi,
I am trying to get the BlueStacks App Player 0.9.23.5302 Superuser BSEasy installed on my 8.1 but receiving every time an error. Actually cant find something in the log.
