Hi all, Sorry if this is in the wrong area but I'm not sure.
I've recently attempted to Root and flash CM9 to my HTC Sensation. I think I have cocked up in a big way.
My troubles are that in my sillyness I neglected to make a back up of the stock ROM and the phone is stuck on the screen with the robot and the swirling blue vortex thing behind him.
My question, is there a way to save the phone and is there a way to return to stock if all is not as it seems?
Oh and I've successfully rooted and flashed a S2 before until I killed it so I have a very limited knowlege when it comes to all the terms of this forum.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.
Mitch.
Are you s-off? If worst comes to it you should be able to run an ruu and go back to stock that way.
Have you booted to recovery and done a full wipe? Are you on the right firmware?

It was running the stock ICS rom originally so I am not too sure on the firmware. S-Off? never read about that, Forgive me for being stupid, but what do you mean "run an RUU"?
Yes, I've done a full wipe in recovery.
EDIT - Better still, here is the instructions I was following, Mentions nout about S-Off?

S-off isnt terribly important - i guess you followed the htc-dev unlock?
Anyways s-off gives you access to more partitions so you do more with your phone in terms of flashing. In some respects its more desireable but not totally necessary.
An ruu is a rom update utility (check the shipped roms thread in the dev section). Its a windows exe that you run to put your phone into stock mode in all respects. You'll need to run the correct one for your phone though.
As for getting you out of your current situation have you tried doing a full wipe and flashing another rom?
Sent from my ARCHOS 80 COBALT using Tapatalk HD
Yeah I followed the HTCDev site and it was successful. Is S-Off not needed to flash another ROM then? I'll look into the RUU as a just in case thing, are there instructions for it or is it another flash from SD Card thing? By full wipe you mean Data, Cache and Dalvik? Will try now if so.

Yes it does, if you select it. There should be a batch operation to do it. Use the green tick in the top right corner when you first start the app to get the batch operations. Exactly the same if you used it on the GS2.
Question, is there a reason why my Google Play Store keeps saying there is a server error? Is it cause of a wrong version of Gapps maybe?

check out the GENERAL FIXES section in this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033353 maybe it will help out with your issue
stop flashing it through rom manager and actually go into cwm, and wipe data, cache, dalvik manually then flash the rom.
the guide he linked you to has that process listed in detail.
i have read in different forums that rom manager is not auto wiping data correctly.. best way around this is to reboot into clockwork mod, go to mounts and storage, wipe cache, data, and system. go to advances and also wipe dalvik cache. then re flash rom and reboot.. also be patient not all roms boot on the first boot at a fast speed. hope this helps
Thank you so much! One problem, every time I get into hboot it won't let me do anything and it starts to apply something... Is it trying to reinstall the PD98IMG that I have on my SD card? I still have that from rooing. Do I still need it?

If your referring to removing the PD98IMG zip, no that not bad at all...once its flashed...you dont need it on your SD card anymore.
And if your referring to wiping cache, data dalvik....thats standard practice before flashing any rom....so no, not bad.
Thank you so much! You guys are great!!!!

Well I have rooted my previous Sensation succesfully so I thought, this can't be that hard.
Using this guide
My Sensation XE is S-OFF now.
HBoot version 1.27.1100
(PICTURE)
It went wrong at step 2: install recovery
After it went wrong I have installed a lot of other different versions and eventually I have 4ext recovery on it.
And it's also possible to get into that recovery (PICTURE)
I was also able to root my phone, but it still doesn't boot
My computer does make a sound like he detects my HTC, but I'm not able to detect it using ADB (adb devices)
Bootloop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pAFHLHP_sw
After you did firmware upgrade you need to flash ICS ROM, 1.27 h boot will bootloop with GB ROMS. Download an ICS ROM to your pc, check MD5, then power off phone and remove battery and sd card, insert your sd card in card reader on your pc, now delete the PM58IMG file from your sd card and place the ROM on your sd card, also download superwipe script from Mike's thread and place that on your card as well. Next safely remove sd card from pc and put it back in your phone, replace battery, boot into recovery, flash superwipe, then flash the ROM, reboot phone and you should be good.

I'd be surprised if anyone will upload a backup for you. Nandroid takes a complete image of the device and as such is likely to contain all sorts of personal data.

Non-booting from but access to bootloader and fastboot?

It sounds like you've either got the incorrect firmware, or ROM, or it could be just incorrect check sums.
To save on re-writing everything that's been done thousands of times before, I'm going to provide this link to Android Revolution HD.
It describes how to do everything step by step. If you want to start from a clean base, just boot in to recovery, and wipe everything, switch it to USB mode, load your files on, and start flashing from scratch.
Remember, to make a nandroid every time you flash something new if you're unsure about anything. It's time consuming, but saves you a lot of time in the long run. I found out the hard way.
If you have any more problems, feel free to PM me, and I'll reply usually pretty quickly.

Agreed. SuperCID and s-off means you can run any ruu. If it doesn't run, something is stopping it:
Try the stock European ruu. Remove other software from PC that might sync with phone (HTC sync, double twist etc.) Check AV/firewall is not blocking ruu. Run ruu as administrator on your machine.

Hello,
So hopefully I haven't screwed up royally here, but here's the problem:
Rooted phone, running CM7.2 Nightly (I forget the version)
Went to update radio from this wiki (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Speedy_Info) page - checksum matched.
Renamed file to PG06IMG.zip
Booted into HBOOT, ran update, rebooted.
HBOOT Info:
-----------------
SPEEDY XE ENG S-OFF
HBOOT - 0.93.2001 (PG0610000)
RADIO - 1.08.00.0506 (Seems the radio did update)
eMMC-boot
-------------------
Tried to reboot but now stuck on the HTC Logo screen.
What do I do now? And can you explain in layman's terms please? Still not privy to the technical stuff.
Latest radio for the Shift is 1.08.01.0111, do a search for it here, flash it in the same manner and see if it boots.

Thanks for the response.
I'll try it when I get off of work.
In the event the new radio update doesn't work and I run into the same problem, is there anything else I can do?
Also if you have trouble downloading it from the first post someone mirrored the file in post #34 of the same thread.

You can flash the full froyo PG06IMG (its the easiest to root) to take you back to stock
The file is in my dev-host if you go to speedy-root then desktop version...its the bigger of the two PG06IMG.zip files

Ok, thank you both!
So, my phone is not likely bricked or too early to tell?

No its not bricked, if it were bricked the only other option would be to make it look like a pretty paperweight

Seriously doubt it's Bricked. Did you try Booting into Recovery, Wipe Dalvik, Wipe Cache, and Reboot?

Well the only screen I can get to is the HBOOT screen, which automatically tries to update from the PG016IMG.zip file on my sd card. Even I choose not to update, my only option is reboot. I assume the only other way around this is to delete that file of my sd card from my computer...unless there's another way I'm missing.
I'll attempt that as well once I'm at my home computer.

Delete it OR rename it (ie, "PGO6IMG-radios.zip" or whatever)

So good news I got my phone to boot again. I was able to update the radios with the latest ones, however it was continuing to get stuck at the HTC boot screen. I deleted the .zip file, was able to boot into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik cache, and after a minute or two was able to boot up.
Thanks again for the help!
And now I just need to figure out this battery drain issue. Went from 100% to less than 10% in less than 2 hours
Let me know how that radio works out and if there is any changes in the touch panel

The radios and touchpanel firmware is much newer
You can find the bootloader flashable zip in my dev-host, it says which is which in the descriptions, but the firmware update is the 12 point something MB one

Get yourself Better Battery Stats. It will let you know what's going on. Sounds like a rouge app, or wicked wake lock.
