Hi,
I bought a Sony Xperia J for my wife, all is fine, but it's pretty annoying to have no separate control
for the volume between call tone and message tone.
The ring tone is fine, but the message tone has the same volume and it's pretty loud.
Is there a way to separate the volume control for both somehow?
Thanks in advance

If I do that, I have no longer control for the volume at all...
Maybe the android versions are different.
..just for info, the version of Android is 4.0.4..
The setings do not allow to separate the 2 volumes level.. that's a bad design.
apk?

Search for an app for...
Profile Management
Well, I tried 3 "apps to control volume", none of then worked, even if they had
1 option for ring tone, and 1 option for notifications/message".
It seems that Android, does not allow any app to separate the 2 sounds.
As soon as I changed the "notifications/message" volume, the ring tone for calls
changed too.
I will try "profile management" apps, but I doubt it will help.
The profile manager app did not help either.
Still ring tone and message tone at same level.. same for Gmail, FB and all other apps tone... for incoming messages
U need to use cm10 to tweak ur profile.

Friends!
I always keem my system volume low but ring volume at 80%. But when I receive the SMS it Notificatio plays at system volume, not at ring volume. Now how can I recover SMS notification Volume at ringer volume.
Is it so that, SMS alert Volume is System based Volume, not Phone base Volume ?
Previously I was using Photo Contact Pro but I have removed that, after that this issue arise.
I have this problem too..i dont want my System Volume at 100%, but i want to hear my incoming SMS...
Any solutions? Its it possible to put SMS and Mail tones into the Ringtone category?

Any help on this would be useful; as stated, it seems that the sms alert is system volume rather than ring volume, is this correct?
Thanks.
I have to +1 this, on my touch hd same thing, it's just plain stupid that MS put the reminders, sms and stuff to system volume!!! I see no point in doiing so, nobody with a fix for that?
Anything on this?
A bit different, but: Is there a programm that forces SMS notifications to vibrate/ring more than one time?

Not a real solution but a work around is you can increase the volume of the wav file you use for SMS notification.
Its very simple, copy the wav file to your XP desktop (not sure if vista is similar) and right cligh the file and choose record. Then from Effect choose "Increase Volume" and save file and copy back to your phone and use it as you SMS notification. If you need it to sound higher, click "Increase Volume" as many time as you want.
same problem here!
so far, i merged the system and ringer together and kip all of them at 100%, but i have to remember every time I'm listening to some music and decrees the volume to put the volume up again!
there must be a way ... please help
Hello All,
I always want vibration only on ring with no sound. When I set ring to vibrate, that also turns off the sound on the included media player which means no sound for hearing voice mails. To hear voice mail, I have to go to the volume control rocker on the left side of the device and turn up volume. Now I am out of vibrate mode for the ringer, which means I have remember to go back to set the rocker to vibrate. Yes, I have the phone set so that ring and system should be individually adjustable; it does not really work that way, but that isn't the point here.
The Point. Can anyone recommend a cab, registry tweak or adjustment so that my media player volume is disassociated with the media player volume? I would like to have volume for my media player while never having ringer volume.
Thank You,
Ndmand
settings/sound & display and turn single volume off. You will now have separate volumes for ringer and sytem.
it does not work. that was the point of my post
Not so.

Maybe Volumex?

I'm not sure (I'm currently back on my Blackstone), but couldn't you select a "ringtone type" at the sound settings? e.g. "ring"; "ring+vibrate"; "ring, then vibrate"; "vibrate only";... and just select the "vibrate only" option?
I have this options in my Blackstone, but I'm not 100% sure if it's still present in HD2...
Grtz,

Thank You, Coincidence
Thanks for your reply. I really do appreciate it. As fate would have it, I happened to have figured this out yesterday, and it is exactly how you say. The ring tone type is now set to "vibrate" and it seems that I can use the volume key for the more useful purpose of making sure I can hear voice and music. Thanks again for your help.

Sorry, I missed a couple of your posts. I think my problem is fixed, but thanks for the cabs. I am new to Windows Mobile and am excited about the cabs yo posted. I may want to install them just to check them out. Again, thanks so much for your response and your obvious willingness to help others through this forum.

I am a little confused. Happy your request was answered. But maybe you can enlighten me to why the dual volume doesn't work. Or exactly why it didn't work for you. On my T9193 I set it to have dual volume. I keep the ringer volume on vibrate and the system volume turned up. Nothing else is affected by having the ringer volume on vibrate. Texts, emails, all notification sounds come through perfectly except for phone ringer. Did I miss something?
is it normal that if I set ringtone to "vibrate" from settings tab-phone settings I have sound on other apps (e.g. music player) but if I set ring to vibrate using volume button (double volume on) all device get silent ?
Hi, Does any one know how i can make my phone (G2x) just vibrate. I hate having when phone rings. I prefer vibration ONLY on all txt, voice message, incoming phone, notification and what not. The only time i want voice is when i am watching a movie or listening to music. I have looked through settings and tried all the settings....
thanks.

I beg to differ.
Look under Settings > Sound. Make sure vibrate is set to either Always or Only in Silent Mode. Then select Volume and turn ringtone volume all the way down. Leave media and alarm volumes turned up. Voila!
How do I silence notifications?
I have been looking around the settings and cannot find a way to silence the notification sound for SMS's, emails, etc. On stock Android most applications have a ringtone called "Silent" or something to that effect. On the HOS I cannot find it. I feel stupid asking this, but hopefully I am not the only one that is new to Sense and does not know where this is.
Thank you.

Go into sms>setting>notification>uncheck notification sound to silent sms. Then go to mail>settings>notification settings>uncheck sound notification. Hope this helps

Notifications and the phone Ringer volumes are tied together with no way to separate them. If you put the phone in silent it will silence notifications, or if you use the volume rocker on the side of the phone, notification sound volumes will decrease with ringer volume.

That is completely impractical. If I want notifications silenced, I don't want to jump through ****ing hoops like some dog & pony show, but I suppose technically you're right. As long as you don't mind all those ridiculous steps to get it done. But you can't turn notification volume down without turning ringer volume down.

hey im not htc i didnt decide to make it that way lol. i know its pretty dumb but he wants to be able to silent the sms, email, etc and thats how we have to do it. lol
An alternative solution: Try getting the app Volume Control +, set it so that ringtone volume and notification volume are not linked, and then turn down the volume on notifications all the way.
I haven't tried it, so tell us if it works for you.
I've tried with other volume control apps, and they all show different volumes for a second, but ringer and notification are always the same volume, even if the app shows them as different. I guess I'll give Volume Control+ a shot, but I would be surprised if it made a difference.

Volume Control+ & Audio Manager wont do it either.
Try this app:

I was able to disable the notification sound for gmail and SMS.
However, I cannot find a way to disable the notification sound for calendar events. Does anybody know how to disable event notification sounds?
I think it is crazy that "Silent" is not an option in the default list of notification sounds. It would be the easiest way to disable all notifications in one-step.
Thank you.
In my z3 the ring volume is great , but when i receive notification like whatsapp is very low.
Anyone have this issue?!!?

Yes it's the bigger bug of the Z3. Hope that Sony starts to investigate.....
Waiying new update
Solution
No need to wait to for an update.
1. Go to settings - sound - system notification sound: select no sound. Do the same with whatsapp settings.
2. Install lightflow. Go to lightflow notification settings, select and activate individual notification sounds for whatsapp, whatsapp groups, gmail, messages etc.
3. Go to lightflow volume settings, activate individual lightflow notification sounds and adjust their volume as needed.
4. Sorted!

Really? I was able to get a notification sound that was plenty loud. As loud as my previous phone LG G2. And with the same sound.
edit: Experimenting further revieled that my success was related to the notification sound used. I am using a mp3 tune from my sd cards music library. Choose an original sound from Z3 and the sound is weak again.
I used light flow, did not hear a difference between the sound. The volume is still low
have this issue as well. hope the new version will be able to solve this problem.
Waiting sony to start rolling an update, it takes time sony why others solve their software rapidely
Same issue here. Definitely looking for a fix to this or an update as it's quite annoying to listen to the sound and hear it plenty loud only to have it be really quiet (even at full notification volume) when receiving texts or other notifications.

Don't hold your breath on an update to address this, the Z2 has the same issue and it was never fixed by Sony. There was a sound mod though, but it required root...which may not be a possibility for some Z3s.
