[Q] Screen Repair Service - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have recently cracked the screen on my HTC One XL. I ordered a new screen and lcd already assembled for replacement and was going to attempt to fix it myself. I tried and had a very hard time getting the housing off. I then realized that I had an international screen instead of the at&t one. What I am wondering is if anyone would be willing to do the replacement for me. I could order the screen replacement and send it with my phone or just send my phone and pay you for the screen. If anyone would be willing to do this that would be amazing. I just really don't want to pay $250 for "professionals" to do it when I could have someone who knows a lot more about my particular phone do it. Thank you.

Lololol my bad.... I just knew you have taken it apart too and were willing to make money....but my bad! I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this just incase I f'd up

I'm joking with you Buddy! I wouldn't charge for my sloppy work! I think if he ships out to Cali, or Utah from Arkansas and back its gonna set him back as much as a kiosk in the mall?

Guys sorry for the offtopic ,but i couldn't find users who opened the HOX before.I have a totally different problem. My phone keeps on rebooting and goes in a strange mode where i can't get it to boot with the power button. To make it boot i either have to squeeze the plastic shell on the phone or copletely remove it.I am sure that some part of the hardware is getting squized. When i connect it to pc via usb it shows "qualcom download mode" or something.Any idea would be greatly appreciated.I am going to send it to HTC for repair if i don't figure it out!

screen replacement

I tried searching all over googleverse and youtube but not luck on a guide on how to open a G2 to replace a LCD. so this is my last resort at looking for an answer. does anyone have a guide or can tell me that its simple to disassemble the device?
Sadly, I wouldn't think there would be a simple fix to a screen like this, simply because of the hinge, although I could be wrong. What happened to the phone, these things have only been out for like a month.
Maybe OP was doing some durabilitiy test... or he was like his avy and fell off the skateboard crushing it =[
lol no, I was going to buy one off some guy on ebay to fix for my GF but so far no dice on the repair guide.
repair guide? LMAO
i think you're going to have to make your own repair guide
you will be a hero to many
Maybe pm the guy that tore his apart on here. He may have some tips.

What do you think about the screen bezel? I'd love to get it off and have it and the batt cover anodized.
Sadly karma has stricken me for posting in this thread I assume. I had a Zagg Invisibleshield installed, and the "solution" got underneath my screen and has messed it up.
Anyone ever find a replacement for this?
Also I was thinking of calling HTC but figured they wouldnt fix it.
Tear down is here:

BE SUPER CAREFUL WITH THE MICROSD RIBBON CONNECTOR. 2 pins on mine got messed up and now the vibration doesn't work...so be aware/be careful!
http://cgi.ebay.com/TMOBILE-G2-HTC-...Cell_Phones&hash=item35aeb64eae#ht_500wt_1156
Here's one you can use as spare parts/replacement screen. If you do get this, I might want to buy the main-board off you to repair the stupid microSD connector...ugh, still can't believe I broke 2 pins on it!
Thanks!

[Q] Nexus S for 280?

Hey guys I'm a MT4G user but very interested in getting a NS. Talking to a guy locally who's selling the phone and the charger for 280, from what he's saying its close to mint condition other than a small scratch at the bottom of the phone.
Is 280 a good price? And if for some reason there's a hardware defect I can't go through T-Mobile right since they don't technically even carry it?
I'd appreciate any response.
Yes, it's a great price. Make sure everything is in good condition before paying.

If you can get the original receipt from him BB MAY help you. However, when I went there they checked my receipt against my ID but, that just may be that particular BB. T-Mobile WILL NOT help you with the phone because it is unbranded.
Sparky WAS in the doghouse. Now, He's allowed on the deck at least.
My Nexus S is annoying me.
I recommend you to do a Multitouch test, write some messages, call someone to check the speaker, etc before giving the money. I got screwed about 2 month ago with a Nexus S that was still with plastics. Everything looked alright but after I bought it I found out it had touch problem. There was a part of the screen that became unresponsible after using it for around 40 sec with out turning the screen off(lock button)... So check this before making the deal...

SIM Card Slot Pin Broken ):

Well I switched from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus S (Nexus S is better) but I used a micro-sim adaptor but when I took it out one day it took a pin with it. I called Samsung and they said they don't do repairs like that so where in Canada can I get this repaired? I would love any advice. Thanks!
- Ryan
Same crap happened to me. But I guess I got a little lucky cuz only half of the pin broke off, the other half I just bent up so it would touch the sim when it was put in. Worked for me. Idk if yours came off completely or partially like mine did

The person on the phone said as long as it's not physical damage they can fix it for free... which is ridiculous if you ask me because most people on this forum could fix any non-physical damage on the Nexus.
They told me to go to Rogers for some reason to get it repaired even though I said I got the phone as a gift and it was not from Rogers. I guess I'll try calling them again to see if I can get anyone more helpful.

Well after a long time of playing with it I manage to get the phone to read my sim by putting strips of tin foil on the contacts on the sim card. Disappoints me that I have to do this though and now the phone has no resale value.
I just got mine spoiled after returning from a holiday I've tried putting the copper thing back in place and slotting it back but it doesn't work. Now i have to wait till tomorrow to call Samsung support in hope that they will fix it if i pay money because my device has no warranty because it is from Australia and i'm using it in Singapore. Will they accept it to fix it if i pay for the repair?
And can anyone who used aluminium foil or anything to make it work post photos or videos on how to do it? I have no experience in soldering and stuff (15 years old) and i dont know how much foil to put there. Please help me!

I had similar problem with my Nexus S. I just went to Carphonewarehouse and told them that my sim is not being registering. They have fixed it for free but it took nearly 3 week.
Sent mine to samsung on monday 21st. he said 1-3 days so tomorrow will be the 3rd day which is the 24th. Hope i receive the call to collect it tomorrow. I miss my nexus

Your post is kind of contradictory. You say they wont fix it for free. That suggests that YES they will fix it, but not for free. Which makes total sense, since you physically broke the phone yourself. That's not covered under warranty.
But then you go on to say they told you to talk to Rogers. Your post is very confusing.
Rogers is a carrier. If you have some sort of damage plan or replacement coverage they may help you. Otherwise, at best, they're just going to send it Samsung in the first place. More likely, they won't touch it.
Your options are to try to repair it yourself, try a local shop, or try Samsung again. I seriously doubt that they wouldn't repair it, for $$$.
Or get a 3rd party warranty. Although, that would be pretty unethical and possibly illegal, filing a claim for damage that occurred before you signed up for the plan.

Cracked Housing Question

Hi Everyone,
My girlfriend lost her iphone 4s a few weeks ago. I've found a one x for a great price except the housing is cracked by the charging port. Is this something I should worry about?
Also, coming from an iphone, is the htc one x fairly intuitive? IMO, it's a better phone but my girlfriend is not as tech savvy as I am. Please let me know, thank you for your help.

Give her a few days and messing with it and she'll figure everything out. It's not like things are super complicated to find or do and there are plenty of "getting started with android" articles out there.
Got a picture of the cracked port? If it's between the port and the screen I wouldn't worry about it. If it's on the other side creeping towards the back of the device I would be a bit worried that a few more drops could propagate the crack.
I don't have a picture but I'm going to see it tonight in person. Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

You have your answer for the crack, but the change from iPhone to HOX is very easy.
I actually came from an iPhone 4 before the HOX.
The only thing i think she'll miss is Siri, its a gimmick anyway and there's voice to text and voice control on this phone.
Best of luck to you guys with the transition.
PS: You could also get the housing replaced if it bothers her.

Make sure to turn it on to make sure it boots. Also you should boot it into the bootloader (reboot the phone and hold vol down until the bootloader shows up). At the top you'll see some words like LOCKED, TAMPERED, RELOCKED, etc etc. If you see TAMPERED that means the phone is rooted. UNLOCKED or RELOCKED means the bootloader has been unlocked or relocked.
If the person has a custom rom installed on it, I would ask him/her to RUU it back to stock before giving it to you. It'll be helpful to your girlfriend to have stock software so she can find the support she needs for it without coming here to the forums being confused about why hers has weird bugs and isn't running stock.
I bet some one took that bad boy apart. That's the only way I have seen that particular area get cracked, is from taking the phone apart

Thank for your replies everybody. I picked up the phone and I have to say, I'm using a galaxy s3 right now and the one x's screen is definitely sharper - I much prefer it. More importantly, my girlfriend loves the phone.
I ran into a bit of luck as the random I thought I was meeting up with turned out to be a friend of a friend. He seemed pretty honest about everything and the crack isn't really that bad at all. He gave me the receipt as well, puppy is on warranty till june 2013.
I never thought I'd be jealous of my girlfriends phone but I think I am a little.

V20 10p replaced by TMO

After a quick phone call with a TMO rep, my replacement V20 is on the way. I explained to them exactly what the situation was and the nice lady had no problem sending me a new one. it'll arrive in just 3 days.
Anyone not ready to wait ****in forever for a new exploit might want to try giving them a call explaining the incompetence and miscommunication behind two companies like LG and TMO creating a device with an unlockable bootloader and no flashing.
Just be nice and respectful and they will give you a new one. Don't update this time lol.
