[Q] Trouble with 64gig sdxc - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all:
Hopefully you can assist me I currently have a 32 gig card in the 8013 with lnk2sd running fine I got my hands a new 64 gig card but when I run mini partition my W& machine doesn't see the card for anything beyond 32 gig the 8013 sees it as a 64 though how can I partition it to be able toy use link2sd any clue?

Check the SD card properties in Windoze and see how it's formatted. I think FAT32 has a 32 GB limit. If it is FAT32 reformat it in ExFAT

Did you partition it already... Also what ROM are u running and how did u get link2sd working... I can't get it to work

No rom just straight root

I formated my 64GB in fat32 on my PC. Everything is now o.k.
If you use files more than 4 GB it is better to format in exfat.

I'd say Durango01 has used a 3rd party app to format FAT32. I have used Easius partition manager to do this but as JB supports exFAT, why would you?

CMR doesn't support exfat so if you are planning to use your SD card for backups as well as appdata it wont work. Best way would be to partition and have one partition exfat and another as exfat for larger files.

Sd card Help
Guess I'll just stick with 32g. This is all confusing to me. Thanks.

i bought 64gb sd class 10 and followed zedomax mode and converted my sd to my internal memory no need to partation

64 gb micro sd won't mount in recovery

I have a class 10 64 gb micro sd card installed in my SN10.1. It works fine in the tablet but I cannot mount it while in recovery for flashing ROMs or making backups. Has anyone figured a wor around for this. I am using TWRP currently.
Edit: The card is formatted fat32

Try a different recovery .

Is there a recovery that can access external sd?

Because my internal is getting pretty low with 2 backups and a couple roms I'm down to 1.6 gb on my internal.

CWM will read and write to external SD - BUT IT MUST BE FORMATTED FAT32. CWM cannot read ExFAT.
I got a cheap 32 GB SD Card just for holding Nandroid backups and ROM files for use with CWM - Formatted it to FAT32 and use it with CWM only.
It only takes a few seconds to eject my 64GB card (ExFAT) and put the 32 GB one in.
What version of CWM are you using? Zedomaxs works with my exFAT sd card and so does Darkmans touch recovery....
Can't say about TWRP but I believe I tried it early oin and it didn't have exFAT support, might be able to now...
TWRP does access Ext SD.

[Q] 64 GB microsd card?

Has anyone tried running a 64 gb micro sd card in this? Any feedback?
Haven't used iy myself, but from what I understand if it does not work you need to format it to FAT32,then should be fine

formatting to fat32 works fine. using integral micro sd card.
Agreed. I have a grey and red sandisk 64gb microsdxc in mine and it only works with FAT32. ext2/3/4, exFat and NTFS are no go unfortunately, limiting you to a maximum 4gb file size. Just pop the card in and it will ask if you want to format it.

Indeed, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Allocation_Table for more information, you will need to reformat your sdcard to another file system format that supports larger files (but note if your using windows your options are limited!)
then what format do i use?
obviously not FAT16, an i heard that NTFS is read-only for android system

the last FAT32 16gb i had wouldnt let me move files back/forth larger than about 1gb...swapped for a brand new one and it worked fine after that...

Well thats the thing if your using windows there isnt really a file format you can use thats natively supported with windows, but I believe you could use ext3 and use thrid party software to access it in windows

How to get my 64 GB sd card to work in CWM Recovery?

My S3 is running 6.0.3.0 CWM and it won't read my Sandisk Ultra micro SD XC class 10 card. I read that if I format it from exFat to Fat32 it should solve the problem. If I do that will it only give me 32 GB of usable storage? Can it corrupt the card? What can I do to make my 64 gb work in CWM?
Format it as FAT32 with Ease US... The downside is not being able to store 4+ GB files...
