Problem signing Update.zip files

Hi all,
I've recently got my Vodafone Magic and am enjoying the awesome work of all those here that have helped to root the phone and create the brilliant custom ROMs. So big thanks to all those involved.
On to my problem. I actually tweaking the updates I apply to the phone slightly, such as adding ring tones or changing to the android keyboard. I've got scripts that do this, but I'd really like to alter the update.zip and apply it in a single go. I understand what needs to be done, but the signing of the altered update.zip file doesn't work.
I am using signapk as per instructions, which succesfully completes, but it removes the META-INF\com directory (and yes it is in the original zip). I saw someone had a similar problem a while ago, but the thread didn't have a solution.
I'm using Windows XP 32bit. I've downloaded and installed the JDK 6 Update 14, and installed it to \Java to ensure no spaces are in the directory path.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

the signapk never removes files. (imho)
you have to put all the files in one zip file
META-INF
-com
--google
---android
----update-script
-cert.rsa
-cert.sf
-manifest.sf
system
boot.img
Click to collapse
the cert.rsa, cert.sf, manifest.sf, will be updated (imho) by the signapk

All the files are in the original zip file and signapk does update the cert.rsa, cert.sf & manifest.sf. It just seems to remove the com directory and hence the update script.
I started with the ION update, extracted it, changed a couple of things under system, rezipped it and tried to sign it with the outcome I mentioned.
I've tried creating the zip with XPs built in zip handler and WinZip.

you can do a test like this.
download the signed rom and try to sign it again. then take a look into the zip file in the meta directory
Yay - got it working.
It would seem that the problem was the zip files as created by WinZip. When I created the zip file using 7-zip, all went well. At least all the files are there - haven't tried putting it on the phone yet.

An APK file by nature is a ZIP file. The reported files/folders make up an APK file.
Read also here:
Structure of an Android App Binary (.apk)
Structure of an Android App Binary (.apk)

To install the APK replace file's extension "ZIP" by "APK".
Hello thank you sir,
but the problem I have exactly, is, when I download a zip file from github, your mentioned method wouldn't work.
Maybe you have another solution

I9505G How to Set Device Mount Points in Android Kitchen for GE S IV

I9505G HOW TO SET DEVICE MOUNT POINTS IN CYGWIN ( dsixda Android Kitchen)
If you are looking for information on how to set up the device mount points for our Google Edition S IV in dsixda's Android Kitchen then I have created the files necessary for you to put into the tools/edify_defs folder and the galaxy s 4 variant folder so that you can have kitchen generate it's own Updater-Script and you do not have to borrow or modify someone elses. Android Kitchen does not support the Google Edition phone yet so I created these files to use.
BIG THANKS TO dsixda for his Android Kitchen!
( As Always I nor anyone on this forum is responsible if you brick a phone, lose your job, or life ends as we know it, make sure you fully understand what you are doing before you do it)
1. Now this guide assusmes that you already know how to set up and use dsixda Android Kitchen. If you do not then you want to go HERE and use this guide first.
2. Download the I9505G_mount_point.zip file HERE.
3. Open up your Cygwin and place the “jgedlte” file in the tools/edif_defs folder
4.Create a Folder called I9505G inside the galaxy_s4 folder inside varients. Place the second “I9505G file inside your tools/samsung_files/model_varients/galaxy_s4 folder/I9505G Folder that you created.
Thats it. Now once you import your system and boot files into Kitchen then it will automatically generate the correct META-INF files with the updater-script. Please make sure your modifying your build.prop correctly in your system files accordingly.

Edit .sin file

Hello everyone,
I am tying to make a "light" official rom of the Z3 by removing some *.apk of an *.ftf file.
I have extracted all the folders from the *.ftf (ftf - system.sin - system.ext4 - files...) and removed all the apk I don't want, but I don't know how to make a new "system.sin" from all the files I have extracted. I looked from the internet, but I am a little noob.
Can someone help me to build a new *.ftf file to flash it with Flashtool ? :crying:

As far as i known you can't edit .sin / .ftf files as they are signed using sony private key that no one has...
Technical info here:
https://gist.github.com/dosomder/8ed79b26a5e063efa5ef
"And that is the reason why we can not create custom firmwares for Xperia. If you still don't understand, RSA is an asymmetric function.
This means it's using a private key to create the signature and a public key to read it. So even if we find the public key
(which is somewhere on the device), we can never find or guess the private key. Therefore we can not create a valid signature."
But you can create a .zip firmware to be flashed via recovery
I used Flashtool-sin editor on "system.sin" that give me "system. ext4".
With ext2explore I opened " system.ext4" and extracts all files and folders (app, privateapp, etc, build.prop...).
From folders "app" and "privateapp", I removed the *.apk I don't want, but I don't know if I can build a new " system.sin".
There is really no way to reverse ? Make a "system. ext4" from the folders I modified, and convert it in "system.sin" ?
If we can do something in a way, can't we do it on "reverse way" ?

It cannot be done. 100% impossible.
If you want to make your own rom Google [NUT]'s method to create your own rom.
There is also a tool to create your own prerooted flashable zip, but if course, all of this requires root
Thanks a lot for all your answers...
I won't try to make it in zip...
