I9505G How to Set Device Mount Points in Android Kitchen for GE S IV - Galaxy S 4 General

I9505G HOW TO SET DEVICE MOUNT POINTS IN CYGWIN ( dsixda Android Kitchen)
If you are looking for information on how to set up the device mount points for our Google Edition S IV in dsixda's Android Kitchen then I have created the files necessary for you to put into the tools/edify_defs folder and the galaxy s 4 variant folder so that you can have kitchen generate it's own Updater-Script and you do not have to borrow or modify someone elses. Android Kitchen does not support the Google Edition phone yet so I created these files to use.
BIG THANKS TO dsixda for his Android Kitchen!
( As Always I nor anyone on this forum is responsible if you brick a phone, lose your job, or life ends as we know it, make sure you fully understand what you are doing before you do it)
1. Now this guide assusmes that you already know how to set up and use dsixda Android Kitchen. If you do not then you want to go HERE and use this guide first.
2. Download the I9505G_mount_point.zip file HERE.
3. Open up your Cygwin and place the “jgedlte” file in the tools/edif_defs folder
4.Create a Folder called I9505G inside the galaxy_s4 folder inside varients. Place the second “I9505G file inside your tools/samsung_files/model_varients/galaxy_s4 folder/I9505G Folder that you created.
Thats it. Now once you import your system and boot files into Kitchen then it will automatically generate the correct META-INF files with the updater-script. Please make sure your modifying your build.prop correctly in your system files accordingly.

Putting togeter exe from wm6 image (noob)

Hi,
Following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310287 I created a dump directory for a WM6 image. Inside the SYS directories are a number of subdirectories. Some of these subdirectories have familiar names (e.g. calendar.exe). Using calendar.exe as an example, there are 5 files: imageinfo.bin, imageinfo.txt, S000, S001, and S002. Here are my questions:
1. What are these 5 files?
2. What tool would I use to put the folder together to create a single executable?
Sorry for the noob questions but I can't find the answer on the forums!!
OK, after trying out all of the tools in one of the bundles, I found the answer to the second question:
2. Within someone's kitchen tools (I don't remember which one I downloaded) was a file called recmod.exe. Run it with the folder as a parameter and it will put the exe together.
I still don't have the answer as to what those 5 files are though.
My terms may be off base but I'll try to explain what these files are as I understand it (and hopefully not look stupid in the meantime as I'm also trying to explain it in layman's terms).
Many core files are constructed like this so that they are optimized in the Rom to make them run more efficiently on our devices.

[20931 SYS/ XIP Ported]Improved PackageTools and BuildOS now for Wizard [29/11/2008]

I have been using many kitchens over the past year. Cooking horrible roms, decent ones and now a pretty good one. My problem was always the various tools lying all over my hard drive. Luckily I came across this litte gem by Ervius
Package Tools and BuildOS rolled into one. I also noticed that it handles rgu files much better than the previous BuildOS, it choked on an incorrect rgu file. Which in turn allowed me to get Video working in HTC Album 2
I have modified the batch files for our Wizards and have been cooking and im loving it
PackageTools+BuildOS (Latest combined version)
rgu-2-xml : Convert .rgu to provxml files
SYSVersion : Generates a version list of your SYS Folder
All the usual build tools :G'Reloc, M'Reloc, ImgFS Tools
AllPackagesToOne - Protect your rom from being ripped apart and the whole world being able to share in your utter cooking brilliance, via a tickbox ofcourse
Automatic Find and Fix duplicate file errors during BuildOS process
More features which I am either too lazy to list or dont use at all
Just add SYS,ROM and OEM folders. It also have a nice feature which allows you to select OEM Packages and save it as a preconfigured rom. Extra OEM packages can be placed in a Packages folder. BuildOS will load those files also (No more OEM's all over your hard drive).
BuildOS also runs G'Reloc during the dump process, but for good measure I also included it in the batch file.
Also added -conservative to the Imgfs Tools portion of the script to protect against overcook
BuildOS generates pretty log files which shows where stuff went wrong
Extract the zip file. Run Kitchen.exe and watch the magic at work.
Note
For some reason the output window text is black on a black background, but at the top is a nice running status. If not sure just hilight the output window.
If you start up and It complains about folders just create them

It does, in the prettiest little tick box you have ever seen, just below the Output Window. One of the really cool features of this version of BuildOS is the ability to scan for and fix duplicate files
sounds really impressive! downloading...
I'll recook my rom with it and let you know how it went
where should I extract this kitchen?
Error: pkgdll is missing
Never mind. copied it to the same folder as the kitchen.exe

What OS are you running on your pc ? .net 2.0 and higher really like XP Sp2. Do a google search for CCleaner and "Uninstall Utility" this might help before you format dude.
Errors I am facing:
can not find \ROM folder
Windows can not open this file: OS.NB.Payload
Windows can not open this file: OS.NB.extra
BuildOS: Error, can not find ROM Folder!!!
Where are these files supposed to go? can you provide a tree map?
Can you also tell me what exe opens what file?
I'm almost having to pour cold water over my self
The main issue is not knowing where the ROM folder is supposed to go.
Also, not being able to see what the thing is doing (black on black) is really frustrating me also.
When you get a chance, let me (us) know how to use this cooker. it looks like it can do a lot more than I'm used to... but at the moment I am finding it useless.

I really wish I could decompile and just fix the black on black issue. Coz it is a simple case of just changing the font. Unfortunatly it is not written in .net like the previous BuildOS, so no luck there
This should be your default layout:
Base Folder-
->Compile Tools (OS.nd encoding tools)
->Flash (Created by Batch file, your new OS.nd ends up here)
->OEM (I like to put the BASE OEM Folders in here OEMAPPS etc)
->Packages (This is where I drop my custom OEM folders)
->ROM (OS.nb XIP,romhdr.bin lives here)
->SYS (Yeah well we know this one)
The error you are getting is when you try and extract a rom with Package Tools in the kitchen. Here is the procedure:
Create a base folder, I normally use Base_Buildnumber_Device
Select your Dump Type in the bottom check boxes, either a folder where you have already dumped a rom or an *.nb,*.nbf type file
Start your kitchen and select Open on the Package Tools tab.
Browse to the folder you have just created select the folder of rom file based on the above selection
Package tools will now extract the rom and create OEM and SYS Folders if possible
In case of cooking which I believe you are after:
Create the above folder structure with all files in place
Select BuildOS tab
Click Load Rom
Edit OEM's etc and just press Go

Dude I battled to get the whole thing running as the tut's where for Kaiser and the tools were abandoned by the looks of it. But once i started using the cool right click and import package features I was sold.
Sorry. double post.

Yeah I realised now that when I zipped up the Kitchen I left pkgcommon.dll in the Tools folder, this should be copied to the same folder as Kitchen.exe.
Your error however comes from me not stating the .net Framework 2.0 or highers is required. I take these for granted since I have Visual Studio installed on my machine anyway

Need help with editing APKs using various tools URGENT!!!

So, I've got a lot to say and will try to be as thorough as possible. I will answer questions if needed to know certain issues of mine better. I'm sure I'll probably forget a couple things but will say what's going on to the best of my ability.
I'd like to say I am in a real bind and my folders are a complete mess with WAY too many tools and I don't think I need them all. But these are tools that were suggested to me or in a link containing several more tools. I am no longer going to edit APK files or do anything else till my issues are resolved and I've been given the best suggested tools that are CURRENT (please no outdated stuff). I can provide links to most of the tools or suggestions that were given to me if needed. I've bookmarked every link.
I don't know who is going to see and read this but really do hope someone can work with me on fixing up my issues I'm having with all this. Also, if this thread has responses from whomever, could you also tell me where each folders should go and what needs to have its' own folder?
Here is my current set-up:
2 folders on C:\ directory (contains: android-sdk-windows and Android folders and separate)
In android-sdk-windows\platform-tools folder it contains:
lib (folder)
llvm-rs-cc.exe
source.properties
aapt.eve
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
aidl.exe
dexdump.exe
dx.bat
NOTICE.txt
finishedpngs (folder)
framework (folder)
SystemAppsOriginal (folder containing my original /system/app APKs from Droid 2)
projects (folder containing nothing yet but placing specific APK(s) here)
eclipse (folder)
Eclipse Workspace (folder belonging to eclipse program)
SDK (folder containing another SDK just like android-sdk-windows, don't know why I have this now)
NotePad ++ (folder)
Update Modifier (folder)
PNG Gauntlet (folder)
XMLEditing (folder when I get to editing XMLs I'll place it here for work)
xUltimate Draw9Patch (folder)
xUltimate Theme Optimizer x64 (folder)
xUltimate (folder)
xUltimate Color Converter (folder)
APK Manager (folder)
These are all on my laptop on the c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools folder. The reason I put them all in there is because some of them are requiring adb.exe and those 2 DLL files to be able to function on but it's not working like that. So, what I did was copy adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, and AdbWinUsbApi.dll into the APK Manager and Update Modifier folders so the Script.bat would work. Now I don't know if that was a good idea or not. It worked on making them operate but I'm getting errors in the APK Manager when I need to compile stuff, or adb push back to phone. It's not working correctly.
In Android folder:
PSPad (folder containing the program to read and supposedly edit XMLs)
RSDLite (goes with SBF)
SBF (contains the zip to restore my Droid 2 back to stock)
The rest are misc. stuff that's just screenshots and stuff not associated with my issues
Only success I have been able to do was run Command Prompt and do adb pull and adb push which runs through the adb.exe in the android-sdk-windows\platform-tools folder.
I had to boot into recovery via Clockwork bootstrap, unmount system and then do the adb push on one of my APK when I was finished editing just PNG image files. No .9.png image files. I hear you need APK Manager to take care of issues with that due to boundaries and chunks being lost or messed up.
I have tried several different methods. Only success was finally doing adb pull and adb push through android-sdk-windows tool but that took me ALL weekend. I'm not talking 3 or 4 hours. I'm talking from 9am to noon, lunch break, then till 3am in the morning and then repeat on Sunday morning till 2am. I DO NOT want to go through that again yet I'm still trying to sort through all this mess and eliminate tools and such and get the right things and MAKE them work according to how they are suppose to function.
I don't know if all those extra tools are suppose to be in the platform-tools or not. I don't know what else to do here. Like I said, I went through several methods but most are applied to what the dev has like for G1's and other phones. My phone is the Motorola Droid 2 A955 build.
I was able to successfully push Music.apk back to the phone and see the changes I made. I was happy. All I did was just change the colors in the PNG image files. I really want to do more than this. Even to .9.png image files, XMLs, smali and baksmali and all that and eventually get onto creating my own theme.
Also, I do have the latest version of Java. I have entered my environment variables. Check here to see what I did:
Under System variables:
Variable Name: adb
Variable Value: c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
Variable Name: Path
Variable Value: %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\10.0\DLLShared\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin;
My laptop build: Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista 32 bit x86
I have 3 threads at the DroidForums site but I had to edit this thread because I can't post outside links till I've posted more than 8 times. I've been a member here for a couple months, just haven't really posted much. I do more reading and researching here on the XDA forum rather than posting, which is what I've been doing for the last 3 days. If you need links to see my more thorough issues then I can provide links by PMing you with them.
Bottom line: All I'm asking is someone who knows my issues to work with me getting this mess sorted out and placing the folders in right places, getting adb to work with multiple scripts that rely on the adb.exe and those 2 dll's, and pointing me to the right direction so I can get out of the woods finally.
Sorry this is long but people understand more when things are laid out more thoroughly, which lacks in a lot of these threads explaining instructions and resolving issues.
Please close this thread. I will be working on my own since I have solved most of these issues on my own and there is no response to this thread in helping.

[Q] Kitchen and Nexus 5 (storage mount file needed)?

I saw a few people post that they built ROMs for this device using dsixda's kitchen. Just wanted to know if you had to create a 'hammerhead' file for the storage mount points since this isn't included in the supported devices (obviously because the tool isn't being updated anymore).
If you created a mount point file, can you please post the contents so I can reuse (fyi... I've installed this on a Mac, but should be able to reverse engineer one from a different OS)? I'm a bit of a noob using this kitchen and just got it configured on my mac yesterday. Just looking to mess around with it a bit for lack of a better thing to do.
I´ve also created device files for several devices, it´s not as hard as it sounds, as long as you´ve read the OP in this thread ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
You need to unpack one Stock Kernel of the device you want to add the support to the kitchen, check the contents of the RAMdisk for the required mounting points and add them yourself ?

That's how I got to this point to begin with was by going through that thread. I just don't want to get the syntax wrong and I'm not 100% sure what all those parms mean in that template file. Plus the info in the recovery.fstab file seemed to be quite different from the ones already in that folder. I was hoping someone would be able to just give me a copy so I can check my syntax. Sort of a learning experience for me.
i will try
