[Q] Superlite ROM question about music. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I am currently using SUPERLITE CM10 JELLY BEAN RoM and I "LOVE" the music quality mostly using winamp and Pandora.
I tried out [UCLL3] SUPERLITE UNOFFICIAL SAMSUNG JB 4.1.2 >> 202mb << ROOTED - INSECURE KERNEL - INIT.D and it is just not the same. I really like this one and was hoping to switch to it, bu the music quality is not even close to the CM10 version.
All I use is volume+ on both of them and no matter how high I turn up the volume or bass or adjust the eq in volume+, I can't get the great sound as I get in the CM10 version. The only difference I noticed was that dspmanager was on the CM10 but not the leaked JB version. Not sure if that even affects the sound, but thought I would mention it.
I am staying on the CM10 version for now solely because of the music, but I really want to switch.
Lastly vincom is my hero on the superlite cm10 jb rom. I had tried so many jb roms a while back to get flash to work and I discovered this rom and the AWESOME sound it gets playing music, the bass especially. It just sounds so much more full and deep. Like I mentioned before, I can adjust the bass, etc on the the leaked jb version and it is so not there.
Sorry I can't ask this in the development thread.

Get rid of that volume+ junk and flash kingbeatz. Make sure you add the lines in the build.prop

It looked just like dspmanager which I could not get to work with Pandora either. I tried kingbeatz twice and let it go. It did sound good with win amp. Anyways, I am good to go now. Thanks for the info about Pandora.

Hows the experience on the Inspire? Any issues?
Just wanted to find out if its worth going through the process. It seems a little more involving than other rom installations.
Works great. Sound sucks. I missed the nicer camera app so I switched back to stock rooted oc
Ill hold off for now then till the sound is fixed. Thanks
The tinny sound may be fixed by Turbonium if his thread is right. I will be testing it tomorrow.
Other than that I love it.

There is nothing like CM. Smoother than anything and fast. I just applied the sound fix and its as close to stock sound as I can remember. I forsee that fix being cooked into all Inspire kernels moving forward.
Which version would be the best to use? I think theres like 2 or 3 plus the nightlies?
I'm using the nightly #7 and it rocks, though there is no support on nightlies (can't file bugs), they seem to be as reliable as a stable build. If this doesn't convince you, RC 1 is also available which works just as good. BTW sound has been fixed here, I just tried it and it works as stated. The only thing I miss from a Sense based ROM is the Connected Media app to be able to watch videos on my HDTV and the Camera app, but I can live with CM7 without those apps.
I'm using RC1 and it's amazing.

I got the buggered cwm from another rom and almost didn't bother fixing it to get cm7.
glad I did. After flashing the latest nightly and the sound fix this is with out a doubt the best rom I've used and in general the best android platform I've used. Snappy, smooth, and as a galaxy s defector GPS and everything else simply works. Hard to believe this is an unfinished rom as its still in RC status. The guys building this thing obviously know wtf they are doing.
I recommended any one who has an inspire flash this ROM.
Sent from Inspire 4g CM7 nightly 8.
I second this. I have no clue as to why it would be called RC if it feels like premium quality software.
I flashed it a couple hours ago.Im gonna give it more time but I really want to go back to Coredroid. It feels about the same on the speed and smooth factor but without the sense I kinda feel like I was back on my captivate.Sense has me sold I think.
I see a lot of posts here about CM 7, so are people just flashing CM 7 that's for the Desire HD or is it one specifically for the Inspire? Just wondering because I ordered an Atrix and I don't see as much development going on for it when compared to the development for the Inspire. But maybe that has to do with the locked boatloader. I'm going to test it and out for a day or two and if it's not up to my standards, I'm going to exchange it for the Inspire.

Verizon CM10 Nightlies

Installed the most recent nightly Jellybean for Verizon. Seems stable but I notice what seems to be degraded sound quality on phone calls. Anyone else having that issue?
Can someone more experienced recommend a better (or preferred build)?
Thanks,

You can't expect nightly builds to be stable- they will and do have issues with various things.
The vast majority, if not every single AOSP ROM for the SGS3 uses all of (or a good chunk) of CyanogenMod's code, which is why you see so many of the same bugs between builds that are rarely fixed until someone submits to CyanogenMod's Gerrit.
I can't comment on your specific issue, just posting some food for thought.
A lot of people have posted about echoes or low volume on the CM10 builds. I don't make many phone calls so I don't know if this affects every phone running CM10. But I'm sure it does to various extents. They will work it out in the coming weeks as they work toward a stable build.

No echo here. I just flashed to the 9/1/2012 nightly from stock.
Did you try playing with the call settings? I have noise suppression enabled and voice privacy disabled.
I actually have a similar problem (can't post on official thread yet).
I have trouble with my headset volume.
If i plug it in DURING a call, I cant hear anything and can't do anything to adjust the volume.
If i plug it in BEFORE a call, it's fine.
Any clues as to whats going on or any suggestions on how to fix it?
Paranoid android Sept 2nd build seems to work nice, i think it works better than the CM10 builds even though its based off it. You can also mess around with tablet mode!
Let's get the echo fixed and the roaming issue fixed and the forum will flock to these roms. Till then I would beware.

I just flashed CM10 09/04 nightly and I am still getting the 3 second In call delay, I am still getting echo on speaker phone and I am still getting my voice navigation only say " in a half mile" Nothing else, No one seems to even mention this in the official CM10 forms. and No its not a half mile from my house to the end of my street , its like less than 1000 ft. Everything else seems to work good but the delay and the echo are very annoying so I am going back to the build that worked best for me cm10 08/22

Same results here for 904. The other forum mentions that an unofficial build has the incoming call delay fixed, though, so I'm hoping the fix shows up when the official 905 ROM comes out.
Headphones with mic not working
I'm running the 9/2 build and when I plug the stock headphones with mic into the phone I cannot talk or hear phone calls through it. No issue with music. Screen flickers when using keyboard (Swiftkey). Volume control in call doesn't seem to work. There is also a 5 second delay when I answer a call to when I can hear the other person or they can hear me. Same delay with speaker phone.
At least the damn echo is gone though :good:
Can anyone confirm whether or not the dock audio is working on recent CM10 builds? I've tried searching the thread and have done everything short of just flashing it to see.
Thanks for your replies!
The dock audio was still not working for me on the CM10 from 9/5.

You are correct. Just tried it myself. This is the main thing holding me back from CM10. I'm going to attempt to add it in myself. We'll see what happens.
9/5 build seems to be very solid. No data issues or call issues. Cannot comment o no the dock audio though. Make sure you aren't doing dirty flashes, there have been tons of issues with dirty flashing.

This is why I switched to ParanoidAndroid. It is Jellybean and far more stable than the current CM10. If you want Jellybean right now~ I highly recommend PA. If you really like CM, still, try PA~ it will help you wait for the official CM10 release. I actually don't see a need to go CM10 tbh. PA is wonderful.

Jelly Bean on HTC Inspire.. my experience.

I am writing my experience with Jelly bean on inspire as I wanted to read one before I tried it but didnt find anything in detail. Here is how I did it and how it has been so far:
I used THIS to root my phone and THIS is the ROM that I used. Please note that you have to install google apps separately to get access to market. Download link is on the same page as ROM.
It went quite smooth and took me about half hour before I had the phone up and running again. I have been using it for last 2 days.
So far everything I have tried has been working:
TOUCH SCREEN: works perfect.
All HARD KEYS are working.
Camera works fine
Camcorder works okay, not great though (the recorded videos have few stutters).
ixMAT scanner dint work but BarCode Scanner did.
Wifi/network data works good.
GPS works fine, i traveled some 20 miles without any problems.
Bluetooth works fine.
Phone works good. Initially it sounded like "sounds was too loud for speaker". I was able to fix that by decreasing the volume just a bit.
Accelerometer and other sensors work good.
I haven't felt any difference in battery. It charged as quickly as it did before and battery life seems okay (although I have really been using it a lot).
Performance of jelly bean:
It is amazingly smooth and fast. Initially I missed the sense UI but once i got used to NOVA launcher, it feels great. I found a launcher called "LP Sense UI". It gives the same feeling as Sense 3.0 did ( I came from Stock 2.3.5 ROM with Sense 3.0) although it is not very customize-able. If you are Sense clock lover, you may like this widget called "Sense flip clock and weather". I like its visuals. Its music apps "Apollo" is quite nice.
You can see a screenshot of my home screen.
Feel free to post if you have any comments/questions.

Update: Just discovered that by default, the system disables wifi when the phone goes to sleep which results in higher data usage. To avoid this, System settings>wifi> hit Menu and select Advanced> Keep wifi on during sleep> always. This may result in a little higher battery usage.
Update 2: Almost a week now and it is still running quite smooth despite the fact that I have tried A LOT of apps and a lot of widgets. Occasional hang ups have happened when an app becomes non responsive and I have to wait a couple of minute; happened to me twice in a week.
I used to use this rom but now I'm on miui, pretty much better when it comes to camera and battery life.
updated the OP and added a couple of screenshots..

I get horrible WiFi signal on my wife's inspire with all the JB Roms. I'm fairly certain its the Kang Bang kernel. Haven't tried any of the CM10 nightlies yet, but every other ROM, ICS or GB, the WiFi signal is excellent. And I know its not my router, an Asus RT-66U, I get signal on my skyrocket from that thing out in the street. Lordmod's kernel was the same way, but Existz TalonAce always proved better. Hopefully Existz will give us JB soon.

JB & ICS Roms
In the last 3 months I have used 8 different roms, on CM10 latest nightly. Seems good.
I have swappted the radio trying to find the best one. I only get about 40ft of wifi with one dot.
had the 12.69s and now back to 12.59 and it seems to pick up a little better with less battery drain.
Still playing around to find the best combo.
Thanks for sharing. I'm looking to root my htc and wasn't sure which rom to use.
I currently have the most recent and up to date Ice cold sandwich ROM, and I was thinking of switching to jelly bean. Should I make the switch? I don't know much about these ROM's my friend does, and I've heard jelly bean is a great ROM.

Was using Sabsa prime v 8.0 which had ICS 4.0.3 and now am running CyanogenMod 10.1 with jelly bean 4.2.1 and I am not considering going back. In fact I am looking at how smoothly this 10.1 runs on galaxy note 2 so when I upgrade I can get 4.1.2 Samsung touch whiz stuff off.

I tried a few of the various jellybean roms and while I really liked them I had a few probs, wifi signal being one, on another it would just freeze up on me, another had really bad sound artifacts when I would listen to music though headphones that I just couldn't live with.
I went to ICS aospx and am content, my battery life kills my wifes stock inspire 4g while running very smoothly...
I may give another one of the jellybean roms another try with a different kernel and see what happens... but right now i'm happy so we'll see if I change it.
Thanks for sharing your experience, based on this I am going to give this a shot.
which kernel and radio suits for jelly bean?
I'm running the JellyTime ROM as well, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it's working. I was running CM7.2 previously, and while I liked it, there was a persistent GPS bug that was not being fixed. Navigator would lose GPS after 2 min and never recover it, although I learned that the workaround is to toggle GPS while Navigator is running. JellyTime originally had this bug as well, which apparently made it into CM10. But one of the JellyTime updates fixed it, and hopefully it was back-ported into CM10.
I've only been running JellyTime a few days, but all the important things seem to work well. One minor issue is that the backlight on the hardware keys goes out after a few seconds, rather than staying on when the screen is on or being turned on by the proximity sensor. One thing I miss was a widget in CM7.2 that pulled down notifications, which was a convenience in lieu of swiping.

what CM10 built are you using?

Any ROM without these specific Bugs?

I tried AOKP and a few other ROMs. I'm not going to ask anyone what is best because I know I'll get flamed.
Am I allowed to ask for pointers?
What I am looking for is something specific and hunting around trying ROM by ROM is exhausting.
I'd really appreciate advice if anyone has seen what I am looking for.
1. The screen flicker bug where you have to disable overlays each time you restart is a showstopper. I am looking for a ROM that does not have this horrible bug.
2. The bug that garbles the speaker phone sound is also a show stopper. So the ROM cannot have this either.
3. Jelly Bean
4. Google Now
Does anyone know of any ROMs that meet this criteria?
Right now I'm back to stock Jelly Bean with Touch Whiz and I have to say I love Touch Whiz for the alarm and calendar apps. The flicker is gone and sound on speaker phone is good, but I miss the bells and whistles of those custom ROMs.
Anyone know of a ROM that meets my 4 criteria? Thanks a ton!

Pretty much any touchwiz roms dont have these issues. Have you checked out JellyBeans? Its a touchwiz rom thats themed to look like AOSP.

You should odin the K1 leak, then odin the bootchain image with the custom recovery, then flash the root/bootloader unlock then just rockin the F2 baseband. Im sure its fine but I do notice that being on the same baseband as the rom's based its a tad bit smoother.
I don't believe liquidsmooth has any of these issues.
Highly recommend using RC9 with imoseyon 1.7 or ktoonz 10/31. Anything from November seems to create the black screen issue where it doesn't power on the first time you hit the button. I had some other issues as well with hotboots etc while playing games. With imoseyon 1.7 it's rock solid.
Thanks Everyone!
Some of the info in here is over my head and I'll have to research (e.g. the different kernels mentioned). But this is some great info and I'm going to try some of these out. Thanks a ton!
you should redownload and reflash milestone one from AOKP. I dont have any of those issue, Im not sure why you do but everyones phone is different!
running ktoonz kernel i get tremendous battery life, no flicker and a great experience.
In case anyone is in a similar situation I wanted to share my final choice.
I decided that I really love TW because the Smart Stay, Calendar, and Smart Alarms are pretty darn good.
So I installed Clean Rom 5, AC!D AUDIO ENGINE v5, and Kinda Crap Mods 2.4 (for the Mobile Hot spot and Blue Icons)
Everything seems to play really nice with each other. The sound is awesome and everything I tested is stable and fast.
I'll probably keep this for a while now. I'd recommend this setup.

[Q] Stay on ICS or head to KK? Does KK really improve Performance?

I have an AT&T Atrix 2, running stock 4.0.4. already rooted and install BMM.
It looks good to me for now ,stable, smooth.
just lacks some shortcuts from status bar.
There is an large amount of development for android 4.4 here.
Learning from my experience, older devices usually do better when they are in older systems,. As for Atrix 2, maybe ICS or Jelly Bean would be the most stable and smoothest system for this device.
But I am not quite sure about this device. It comes all the way from JB to KK,
SO my question is that should I upgrade and install KK rom for Atrix 2 for better performance? Does KK really improve the performance of AT&T Atrix 2?
Or I may better off just stay in stock rooted ICS ?
Thank you.

In terms of stability ICS is fully stable with no (or very few minor) bugs. But I would suggest you to give a try to kk because you can always revert back by an fxz. Kk is much more smoother than ICS and performance is better. Everything which works on ICS works on kk... (Including HDMI). So in short performance on kk is much better than on ICS.. Though there are a few bugs on kk ROMs its good enough to be used as a daily driver..cm11 is a good start... There are a ton of ROMs to choose from.. Choose which one suits you.
Also ICS stock ROM becomes sluggish and slow after a while. So a custom ROM would make your phone buttery smooth.

I haven't used slimkat much. I use cm. Cm is more towards the stock side while slimkat has more customizability. You should try out both and see which one works for you. There are many other ROMs which you can try out. Bro just flash whichever you want. Your question is subjective.

I had to revert from KK back to NUMA because telephony is not fully working yet. My callers complained about echo in their voice, in-call speakerphone and volume are not working. My A2 is my primary phone, and with 30-50 calls a day it has to be working as it should. For use in my secondary A2, i really enjoy KK, and flash a different Port-Rom almost every week. As for shortcuts in the status bar you can use Power or Notification Toggles they are both great apps.

thanks for the heads up. I use it as a secondary phone. I am testing the call quality now. At least I wold keep the stock ICS rom in case anything happens.
So far slimkat is doing great than CM in my experience. But stock ics is almost as good.

I just try talk in slimkat , seems all is good to me.
My roommate could hear me very well. We are both using AT&T service in our department. speakerphone also works. haven't try volumn but as long as I am indoor, I could hear him very clear. Not sure outdoor performance.
By the way, I try Power toggles. It works like charm!:good::good: thanks for the good recommendation.
You can use ICS as a main OS on system 1, and try any KK ROMs on other systems (3-6)
Although KK ROMs' bugs are fixed everyday, but for me, ICS is still the best

Moto did a pretty good job for the ICS rom. I am using ICS and Slimkat now. Both of them work good to me.
Just one littler question, do you know how to swap system 1 and system 3? I have ics on system 1 and KK on system 3. I would prefer KK on system 1, or just made the kk rom default boot system. Any idea?
Thanks

You can put kk on system 1 but not stock ICS on system 3..I think you can put NUMA ICS on system 3. If you want kk on system 1. Activate system 2 partition. (Do not install ROM on system 2..it is the CDROM partition). After that just do all the wipes on system 1 and flash kk. And yeah back up your cid before you flash

Are you sure speakerphone mic works? The caller can hear you while you are on speaker? I was on Slimkat 2-3 weeks ago and this function didn't work.
