Note: I apologize if I am doing this incorrectly. I wanted to post in the AOKP thread, but the forum told me to post in here instead.
I installed the AOKP 4.1 Milestome 1.1 with the GApps from 20121011.
The install went fine except for one issue: I cannot turn on the Wifi. Changing it from the settings menu, the switch flips to on for a second and a message says "Turning Wifi on..." then the switch flips back to off.
Thank you for any suggestions.
I figured it out. Apparently I did not install the boot.img. Doing that solved my issue.

Hello!
I'm having a problem setting up a personal wifi hotspot on my SR. When I go to try to turn on the portable wifi hotspot by enabling it in the settings menu, it says "Turning on..." and eventually says Error. This has been happening ever since I flashed Faux's kernel. I am on TPCv3 and my hotspot worked during the time that I had Da_G 0.43 included with TPC's rom.
Is there any simple fix or should I just return back to Da_G's kernel?
Thanks!
P.S. I would have posted this in the appropriate forum but I don't have 10 posts
I have recently installed AOKP build 40, but the problem is I often receive no signal until rebooting into recovery and wiping the cache. This works but it is very frustrating to have to do this frequently. Does anyone know of a permanent fix to this problem?
I was having a similar problem. You can turn on airplane mode, leave it for about thirty seconds, and turn it off. It works better than nothing.
Now can you answer me a question as you do seem to still be running AOKP. Do you have trouble downloading stuff from the Google Playstore? It keeps timing out on me. Won't let me down anything until I force stop, disable, and re enable. The bigger issue is that it followed me back to a sense rom and I'm still having trouble downloading.
Sounds like the RIL startup bug which was fixed a week or so ago by intervigil in CM9 alpha 12. I think the fix is in the kernel and that it'll work on AOKP as well. Try to fastboot flash boot a recent CM9 boot.img, from alpha 12 or newer. Download from ville.giev.de or cm9 thread in development
I would have posted this in the Sensation Android development area, but I don't have sufficient privileges to do so.
I no longer have WiFi.
I am using the 4.1.2 CM Kang, and I originally had WiFi working with that ROM, but it stopped working about a weeks ago, and I can't get it to come back.
If I watch the Wifi on/off toggle, I can see it blink white for a split second then return to grayed out about once every 5-10 seconds.
I've checked the WiFi settings, and the only thing that looks peculiar is that the region code under Advanced says "Europe," but when I try to change that, it just reverts.
I have tried a factory data reset,re-flash of the ROM, and installing newer versions of the ROM with no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
tried this ?

I tried to install WiFix Manager, and I followed the directions closely, but WiFi still will not turn on.
The country code always reverts back to Europe in the Advanced WiFi Settings.
I'm on T-Mobile US, running AOKP aokp_pyramid_unofficial_Oct-19-12.zip; a JB ROM; 4.1.2
I previously tried the CM10 Kang for the HTC Sensation, but switched ROMs to make sure that it wasn't issue with the ROM.
To be clear, my problem is not that the WiFi radio never locks to a particular signal, it's that the WiFi radio won't even turn on.
When I go to WiFi settings it just says, "Turning on WiFi...," and never actually turns on.
My best guess was that it had something to do with the WiFi country code, but that's really just a stab in the dark; open to suggestions.
Thanks

In order of easiest and quickest to longest time it will take to do each one...
Install the latest version of the ROM (10/23) overtop of your existing rom (5 minutes)
If that doesn't work...
Do a full wipe and install a fresh copy of the latest version. (15 minutes, with Nandroid backup)
If that doesn't work...
Format your SD card (save all the contents to your computer first) (40 minutes between copying every to the computer and back to the SD card)
NON ROM RELATED OPTION IF YOU ARE S-OFF
Reinstall your firmware as it's possible something got messed up. You will have to boot to recovery after this and wipe cache and dalvik or you will get bootloops. (5 minutes, but a little more involved)
My guess is that the full wipe and fresh install is the most likely to work the first time.

is there a sensation specific guide for this procedure?
Still perplexed
How do I know which kernel and radio combination should work best with my ROM. I switched out to AOKP to see if that was the problem, and I believe I'm using the 3.33 Kernel, but I don't know how to check to make sure it installed correctly.
Had the same problem as you but a full wipe and reflash would bring it back. Seems to be a CM10 problem since it happens with Bruce's and Paranoid roms. Try a Sense rom and see if wifi works.
Is OpenSense considered a "Sense ROM?"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926858
Try that rom, more stable and better performance than all the popular roms.
I had the same problem only option was another room Android_Revolution_HD-Sensation_6.8.0 (this is the rom)
so long, and thanks for all of the fish...
I figured it out.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S III. WiFi is working again.
Thanks for all of the help!
wifi cm10
I have tried several CM10 roms. It is as you said about the region code. It reverts back to the original and doesnt save it on the settings
Even though editing db file doesn't work. Actually it changes the country code. I guess the ROM changes it during booting. Because while it boots you can see that the wifi is connecting first then goes off. I have tried several roms. DOnno what the problem is. probably JB both on cm10 and aokp
G'day everyone,
I have searched the forums all around for someone with a similar issue but am coming up with no relevant information.
Basically my issue is that my phone will randomly restart at really random intervals and sometimes continually restart and also other times will just restart once in the day. I have tried re flashing ViperXL without any apps and the stock kernal installed to try and trouble shoot the issue but it still seems to want to restart every now and then. I have had this crazy thought the other day that my phone only seems to restart when I am at home and also trying to connect to my WiFi network??
I have also tried other roms and for the most part the Paranoid Android rom and CM10 stock seem to run fairly well albeit with the occasional restart.
Can anyone shed some light on some things I should try to work through the problem and to solve it, I understand the basic principles of rooting and using adb but have not delved that far into the rabbit hole. :silly:
Anyway if anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers Skete
P.S Sorry if I have made a major error posting in here, just this was my first post and felt like I was running out of options
Try this:
Goto Settings->WiFi(Click the word, not the toggle)->Menu->Advanced
Change option "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Always"
That worked for me. I've seen this problem before on other phones I've had. This was a real problem for MIUI back in version 1.
Theoretically, your battery life would suffer, but I have not experienced a battery life change. ViperXL battery is pretty great.
I had these reboots with the kernel that comes with ViperXL. This setting fixed the problem. I have since changed kernels to BeastMode. I left the setting on "Always" and I do not get reboots. Not sure if its an issue in BeastMode, but why change it if it works.

All he has to do is flash a new kernel. Beastmode v4.2 or elemental. Never used the WiFi always setting.
Just go flash a kernel for sense ROMs and you'll be fixed. Don't have to kill your battery.

I'm a newbie that recently rooted the At&t One X on 2.20 firmware. I have twrp recovery 2.3.1 flashed and installed ViperXL 2.1.2 rom. After a few days I noticed that when I turn off wifi and attempt to turn it back on, it will not turn on and display an error. When I reboot, the phone would hang on a white screen until I force a shut down with the power and volume button. Once I turn the phone back on, it boots back into viper and the wifi works as normal.
When I just keep the wifi turned on and move to different locations where I have a wifi hotspot saved, the phone will occasionally reboot.
Is this a kernel issue? If so, is there one preferred with ViperXL 2.1.2?
Still rebooting
Hello!
I have those random reboots on ViperXL 3.1.0 when phone is locked, I don't touch it. What must I do to not rebooting?

From what I remember there is a wifi firmware update zip that fixed the random reboots for the sense jellybean ROMs. It should be posted in the ViperXL thread.

In need of some help or direciton.
I unlocked and rooted my old tf300t yesterday and followed the instrucitons in the dev forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575727) and installed and wifi doesn't work. Everything else looks peachy. If I head over to settings the wifi button can't be moved from off to on, and clicking on wifi it sits at screen stating "Turning WiFi on". I don't believe there are any hardware issues as all was working perfectly yesterday.
I'm new to this but computer / flashing savy. Any feedback appreciated!

You've probably not got the correct wifi modules installed, Are you on the correct bootloader and recovery for KitKat?

Bootloader is 10.6.1.27.5 and TWRP v2.6.3.0 (was 2.4.4.0 when I installed kitkat package).
Thanks for your help.
solved
I went back and redid everything, going to CM10.2 first and then loading CM 11 version of 4.4 with newer 4.4.2 gap files and all is working fine. Thanks
