To answer your question: not interesting enough for us. Lacks balls, lacks initiative, lacks specs, lacks price advantage; thus, it lacks in pretty much every department I care to think about in tech acquisition.

Worst thing that it lacks altogether? The metal backed on is a FULL metal backed device....like the Prime, meaning that it will also lack WiFi range.....and probably BT range as well...

I would liked to have thought that ASUS would have been able to steer away from the Prime's signal reception debacle. Good find, for I had overlooked that "detail". Aside from the rather modest specs, then, we possibly also have a dysfunctional device.
I must admit I *am* interested in the ViVoTab Smart -- full Windows 8 (so not the RT version).... We'll see. Even if I get my hands on that (or another similar) device, I will keep the 70 around for a long while to come. (I recently started dabbling in Android 'programming' via AppInventor, which needs a full-blown OS -- that's why I'm eyeing Win8 tablets. I detest Windows 8 RT.)

Please we need a root for this

The correct question would be: why would anyone of us be interested in this? To put it simply, going from a Full HD screen to a HD screen is just too painful.

I'm sorry it doesn't seem to have enuf "balls or bell". But the price is right and it is a nifty machine.
I would love to see a root for this little devil too.

Bought one for my wife. Works great, runs smooth does everything she wants and best of all its a 10" for $100 over a 7 inch. It also doesnt have the IPS setting for outdoor or the Gorilla glass.
Its a fine device just a lower cost alternative to a $500 unit.
She went from nothing to the lower than TF700 resolution so she doesnt notice it at all.
Adding:
I should add that I ran quadrant on the store demo and the benchmarks panned out as one would expect:
HTC One X
TF700
TF201
"Your Device"
then the big drop to the other samsung/google etc.. products. So its just below performance of my 201 but as I said, for my wife she loves it and can't quit playing angry birds and surfing the web! She hasnt opened her laptop once in 2 days and she couldnt stay off the thing.

I have this tablet and see no issues with it. so the screen resolution is not "retina-like". and its only has 1gb of ram.. who cares..the human eye can only pick up so many colors..anything more is just overkill. I wanted a good mid range tablet to surf the net and watch videos. This works perfectly. If i need something more powerful i will go to my desktop. If i need to watch "full hd" i will go to my 50inch tv...how much hd do u need on a 10" screen?

If it suits you that way don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
But if you truly believe you can't see the difference between 1280x800 and 1920x1200, put a Tab 2 and a TF700 besides eachother on the same image. I'm working on my mum's tab 2 atm, there are blurs on all the letters! The anti aliacing is horrendous!

I'm searching to buy the original OTG, if someone have one.

I just stole all the asus apps from one for the next CROMI There are 6 additional asus apps. Altough they are fairly simple. Artist, Studio, PinPal, Sticky Memo, Story and To Do List
Looks like a good budget device to me.

Hey guys, I'm still searching for the original OTG adapter, does anyone mind ti sell his, to me?

Ramos W7 Android tablet, 5in+Capacitive touch or Witstech A81E 7in Resistive touch?

http://www.merimobiles.com/Ramos_W7_Capacitive_touchscreen_Android_Market_p/meri0377.htm
Only runs Cupcake though. And I'm not familiar with the Rockchip RK2808 at all.
http://www.merimobiles.com/Witstech_A81E_Android_2_2_Flash_10_1_App_Market_p/meri0306.htm
This one has a resistive touch screen, but runs Froyo and is powered by a Cortex A8 CPU.
personally, i think the witstech a81e looks the best. resistive touch isnt bad at all if done right (touch pro 2 prooved it to me). the fact that it comes with 2.2 and the reviews support the fact that it works makes it a much more interesting product than the ramos tablet.
if i had $200 to throw, i would go with that one. and thanks for pointing these tablets out too. i haven't seen much on the news sources about this market yet. glad to know its getting bigger.
EDIT: oh, and obvious point of worth: Kick Stand built in. that is an auto-buy to me.
The Ramos is much more awesome seriously.
I bought an A81E, can't wait to get it. The resistive TS seems pretty good, for resistive.
Advantages over the W7:
kickstand
removable battery
matte screen
cortex a8, so waaay faster than the rk2808 (see http://mp4nation.net/blog/2010/08/4-way-mid-browser-speed-showdown/)
disadvantages:
larger, not pocketable
resistive
lower DPI (same res)
smaller internal storage
Okay but I find ramos awesome because:
The looks - it's like futuristic grid-computing tablet with 8exaflops FPU It looks better then anything Apple ever designed
It's great as MID - it's so thin! And fits in pocket!
And at last - it's AWESOME as entertaiment machine! It's CPU is still quite good at 3D! And movies? AWESOOOME!

Well, its a tablet, not really designed to be pocketable.
I'm tempted by the A81E myself, but I'm not sure there's any development going on for it, root access, custom firmwares, etc. Seems like it might be a good device for some community love, more so than something like the Augen GenTouch which could be completely discontinued before too long.

When's it arrive? I get paid in a day or two, still on the fence. Has the A81E been rooted? Haven't really been following tablets much, first got interested when I heard there was a CM flavor coming for the Augen Gentouch, but the Witstech device looks like a much better gadget. On paper at least.

I am also thinking about getting the A81E, I get paid on thursday, so thats when I will be ordering it. Is anybody working on this device on the rooting and custom Roms front?
Thats what I want to know. Doubt we'll see much serious development of Android tablets until the first tier vendors, Asus, MSI, Samsung, etc, launch their higher end devices.
If I were to order an A81E on 18 Aug, think it would arrive before 1 Sept?

I've found that the A81E has a PowerVR SGX GPU that can do 10MPoly/s so it'll be like a little bit faster iPhone 3g in 3d gaming.

Looking into this tablet

Hey guys, i was wondering what you guess as a group think of this tablet, is it bad? would you change to something else? What are the current issues? Are they fixable? The normal questions.
i have absolutely no problems with mine and am loving it. the development community is great and they are putting in allot of hard work to get really great features. ASUS sends out firmware updates often and keeps them opensource which is really nice. If you do go to get one try to get a model that says B60 it seems to have the least problems. If you get a B70 there is about a 50/50 chance you wont be able to root because of some changes asus made. Most if not all of the issues people reported in the early shipments have been fixed. you may have some lightbleed but that is pretty much standard on all tablets.

may i ask how to and where to look for the B60/70 number at?
should say it on the box near the serial/model number
i'm also quite happy with the tablet, the dock makes it a very viable netbook replacement for me, the (so far) consistent updates from asus are a welcome change from samsung's poor support. the only small gripes i have with it are more related to honeycomb's unfinished/rushed/beta state, but i'm hoping those issues will be rectified in ICS.
I love it but frankly if you won't use the keyboard dock extensively, I recommend the tab 10.1

On the Box. it will be the beginning characters of the serial number.
I do think the best feature of this tablet is that it has a dock.. makes it a good netbook replacement (or so I'd think, only had a laptop before this!).
In terms of computing ability, it's probably at, or slightly better than my laptop, since my laptop is pretty damn old in technological terms (3 or 4 years old, so like 10 technological generations ago!).
I do miss some things on the TF. Netflix (which I'm going to root and use, once I feel ready to void my warranty), the ability to play one stupidly addicting game, and programming environments. Actually, it'd be awesome if there was an app for G-code/Labview/MatLab, but I guess I could always root and get ubuntu for those.
thanks guys! im still looking into tablets. My spending limit is 400 so this one looks to be the best out there right now.

TF201 vs TF700, benefits of the switch?

I just caught wind of the generosity from Bestbuy in allowing users to return the TF201's under manufacturer defect. So I am contemplating my move.
is the TF700 the way to go? Or is there a better option at the same price point? I definitely dont want iOS so ill be sticking with Android, just not sure which device to push for in exchange, assuming they allow me to switch.
I see some people talking about the Note 10.1, how does that compare to these TF's?
Thanks for helping me
PS if it makes any difference, I would like to eventually Root and play with ROM's
Definitely worth the switch. I had to go to two Best Buys to make it happen (kinda my own fault), but I'm definitely happy that I did. Runs better, feels better. Go for it.

The default clock speed is 1.6Ghz on the Infinity in Performance mode. I will agree that GPS is better, and obviously better screen resolution. However I notice quite a bit of stutter/lag while navigating through menus and switching apps. Hoping Jelly Bean or another OTA update will help.

+1 for the comment about Screen,GPS, WiFi and Speed. I did mine and have been very happy. As for the stutter and lag, I don't do a lot of gaming on mine, but I have not seen any of those problems.
As for the need to use a custom ROM, with my TF201 I finally put AndroWook on it and said "Oh, this is how this is supposed to perform," I have been running the Stock ROM, rooted with the basic Performance Tweaks (frozen apps in TiBu and some build.prop edits) and do not always feel like I am still handicapped.
Fantastic feedback, thank you everyone

Uhh. The WiFi and GPS also work. Some people might find one or both of those useful. LOL.
I was one of the few who were actually happy with my Prime. The wifi worked fine and the GPS didn't bother me since I never used it. The only reason I sold it and got the Infinity was because I could not re-unlock my Prime after RMAing for a broken HDMI port. For me, the only thing better on the Infinity is the screen, and although it is a really nice feature it is not worth it for that alone in my opinion. Overall, my experience with the Infinity has been the same as with the Prime (minus the development, which I hope will pick up soon).
If you are happy with your Prime I would stick with it. If you fancy a change or feel like spending some $$ then the Infinity is a good choice. Like the Prime it is a solid tablet that offers a really nice user experience.
Edit: I forgot to mention the 'speed' issue. In every day use the Infinity and Prime are equally as speedy as one another in my opinion. I would say that the Infinity's superior processing power is sucked up by keeping all of those extra pixels going...

Actually, my last post was just a little sarcastic, I had a similar experience with the Prime (liked it, did not call for ASUS' head, etc). The Prime is a pretty awesome tablet and the Infinity is really just an evolutionary upgrade, when you can secure working unit with decent WiFi the Prime is still pretty cutting edge. And some of the custom ROMs make the 201 very sweet, indeed.
But that said, my GPS was DOA and the WiFi was merely "acceptable" (but not near the Infinity which I would class as being actually good).
Since like me, the OP is basically looking @ a $0 upgrade via a return, in my experience, the "upgrade" was well worth the five minutes of effort and had no real downside ESPECIALLY if you like the Prime, IMHO!

One change i noticed was the MicroSD card no longer protrudes from the device!!! Everyone who picked up my device immediately would push on my memory chip thinking it was a power button.
On the TF700 it is perfectly flush with the device, sweet!!
Bad news for me, i rooted specifically to run GameCIH to manipulate games. Now im rooted and see GameCIH is not even supported by this tablet. Fan-fvckin-tastic! LOL
otherwise very happy so far.

Amazon Refunded My Prime
I just spoke with Amazon this morning and they've agreed (without any hassle) to refund the money I paid for my TFP. I bought it in December 2011 and received it in late January. I worked pretty well but lately I was having a lot of issues with dropped wi-fi connections.
Anyway, I've decided to pick up the TF700T and use my Prime keyboard with it. My question is: Can you use the GPS dongle that Asus sent the Prime users on the TF700T. If so, is there any difference in the GPS sensitivity?
Thanks,

[Q] Which ASUS tablet?

I'm looking to get an ASUS tablet but with all the different models I'm looking for input from you guys that are rooted and running custom roms.
I'm a cellphone guy and this will be my first tablet. I'm not looking to get some pile that I'm going to be pissed off about because I can't do this or that.
I don't really have a "need" since I'm just looking for something to hack on...(root, roms, customization, web browsing..running benchmarks because I like looking at the speed, OC'ing... ya know the normal nerd shiz.
The "tinkering" is what I like, probably the same as alot of you guys, just trying new things on it and that stuff...just like my S3.
I'm looking at the tf700t right now for $300 used. I can't really find the difference with the "t" specification on the end..?
Which model should i be interested in if this isn't the "one?"
Am I going to be happy with this, being able to root and flash roms?
Is this the one with the plastic piece/bezel on the top so the GPS actually works decent?
Are these speedy or are they piles of crap?
Is $300 a decent price?
Would you go with Google Nexus 10 instead?
I
Is this the tf700t? removed

Hard to tell for me since I never handled these guys.
Well Thanks for your help, if you think I'm missing the boat here and should go with a different tablet, let me know. I like the ASUS look, but not set in stone on it. I see some people saying they regret buying their ASUS tab and wish they went with the Nexus10. I like the Nexus10 too.
The first one is not the same as the second, the first one was the model before called the transformer prime, that one was removed from stores within about 6 months. I advise you to stay away from that one. The one on the bottom is the transformer infinity the one that is the better one. I have mine rooted and unlocked with cleanrom 2.4 and clemsyns 1.9 kernal. Boy can I say that its a sweet device now, stock it was okay but now its amazing. I would totally get it with the price of 350$.
This tablet has some advantages over the nexus 10 too.
Transformer Infinity's (TF700T) Advantages:
It has a micro SD card slot.
It has a dock that you can always connect to for extra battery life along with more ports.
Development is stronger AT THE MOMENT for this tablet.
For 350$ you can get 32 gigs of storage.
Nexus 10s advantages:
Better processor inside.
Better screen resolution.
Better support from manufacturer.
Disadvantages:
No micro SD card slot.
No docking station that adds battery life.
400$ only gets you 16 gbs of memory.
Not a lot known about this tablet yet to judge how great it really is or can be.
Hope this helps you out a little.

I
Is this the tf700t? http://appleton.craigslist.org/ele/3320859999.html
is that one above the same as this one?
http://appleton.craigslist.org/ele/3396655643.html
Hard to tell for me since I never handled these guys.
Well Thanks for your help, if you think I'm missing the boat here and should go with a different tablet, let me know. I like the ASUS look, but not set in stone on it. I see some people saying they regret buying their ASUS tab and wish they went with the Nexus10. I like the Nexus10 too.

That is not the infinity. That is the prime (tf201). And yes you will be happy if you get the infinity

How does the n10 have better support? Asus is considered to be the best. Even if the n10 is a nexus, it's made by Samsung, considered to be the worst...

Because its a google product so logically google is going to release all of its updates and support quicker then any other device period. Dont get me wrong Asus has some awesome support.
Thanks guys.
I agree with the advantages over the Nexus tablet. I like the expandable storage. Plus 32gb for the price is great.
The resolution is better on the N10 but, really, I'm not a huge freak about that.
I'm sure the resolution is great and it has IPS mode right? I've heard good things about that.
I thought I'd be missing NFC, but in reality, it's a novelty to me, wow cool, ok move on. I've used it like 4 times on my S3, only because i bought a bunch of the tiles. They are in a drawer somewhere. Useless.
The dock looks pretty decent, kinda pricey but, i'll find a used one.
The infinity has USB OTG right? I'm assuming it does.
The processor difference between the N10 isn't that great and I don't really do anything that requires that much power..besides wow'ing myself with benchmarks, so i think it will be fine.
I'm not too worried about the updates since I won't be stock ever. I'm sure we'll be at 4.2 within no time if isn't already.
Thanks for the tips, I'm going to try to score the infinity off craigslist right now. I'll let you know what I think.
One last question..
The "gold" grey" models is referring to the actual color right or am I retarded? or both?

The resolution on the infinity still wows me though, its a nice looking tablet regardless. Sadly the infinity doesnt have USB on it however there is an adapter that plugs into your charger port to give you that support.
I have to agree that the dock is sweet but pricey, I personally dont own one yet and am patiently waiting for a Ubutu port before I make any further purchases.
Yeah the benchmarks on this thing are crazy if you do some tweaking, I will attach a pic with my benchmark on this post. It is pretty good.
Just make sure that it is indeed the infinity as the post says the transformer prime which is different then the transformer infinity. If the guy has the box the box should say infinity. Good luck man!
EDIT:Yes that is referring to is color not a stupid question either lol.

Except it's still Samsung.... updates still have to go through the original OEM... So if the oem sucks, so will update. Look at the galaxy nexus as an example...

No, it’s a Nexus device the software will be updated by Google. The OEM means nothing.

So far so good. I really haven't played with it, been busy with some other stuff but i'm glad i got it over the n7 or n10 even.
Once I root/rom i'll let you know, stock isn't what i like on anything.
Thanks for asking though!!
Congrats on the Infinity purchase!! You'll love it! Better choice than the N10 in my opinion. I had the Prime, then bought the Infinity when it was released and my girlfriend got the Prime. The only thing about the N10 that excites me is that GameLoft and EA said they are going to support it with their games. So that means the Infinity will get support too with its high res display!! Bonus!!!

Thats good that your liking it man, once you root it and get that custom rom on it you will be amazed believe me. I only have one complaint about the tablet and its the my left side of my screen creeks but other then that I dont have any of the other problems people are complaining about.
Yes!! Finally gameloft will support this beast of a device!

As an Infinity owner I would have gone to Nexus 10. It is so much better device than this.
Just saw a video where some guy had opened 6 3D games and was multitasking and playing fluently those games. You just can't do that with this tablet. This will die under 2 games already.

Looking for the best BUDGET tablet

I want the BEST deal possible
I want the most bang for my buck
perhaps an up and coming release
or the most popular tablet already available.
I have nothing but time and the first tablet i bought was an ipad and it was super cheap due to an amazing deal.
I've done a lot of research of my own and this is my final step, I'm hoping the -always smart- people on here can help a brother out.

Nexus 7 by a billion gazillion miles. 1080p screen, serviceable dual cameras, immediate updates, quad core GPU, stereo speakers.
Or maybe the N10? The new one isn't here yet, so you should prolly wait a little.
Currently, nobody can beat Apple at tablets, though. Just my opinion. Seems there are more apps that are optimized for the large screen.

lol i was JUST watching this
http://cnettv.cnet.com/8301-13484_5...efight-google-new-nexus-7-vs-apple-ipad-mini/
thanx to this video -that comes off fairly biased- Ive been doing more and more research on the nexus.
my problem with the nexus is it`s date. technology is always being updated and I would be choked if a month passed and the next best thing gets released.

For $230, you can't expect something like that to be future-proofed. What you could do is sell your old device in an emerging market, where the demand is high and supply low, and use that extra cash to upgrade frequently. But the N7 def has more to it than just the hardware. It is as close as you can get to the stock experience, so there is very little lag. And there is longer support by Google. It gets a lot of dev attention. It is also very cheap.
Seriously, if you want a good deal, the N7 is the way to go.

You could wait for the Nexus 10. But yeah, there really isn't much selection as far as budget Android tablets (or any Android tablets) go.

Uhhh... you may want to think this through. While you do have a limited return period, it is best to read a good amount before investing in anything. Unless you have money to burn...

well technically i decided about 3 hours ago and have been doing none stop research. Everyones telling me nexus, i'm loving everything about nexus. 200+ dollars doesn't break the bank and i cannot find anything better.
I normally do tons of research, but i think this is an easy call right here.
took me litterely 2 months to pic out my ms g60 gaming laptop
however i was in china atm, so i probably could of chosen better, but in china that was an amazing deal.
alright
bed time, will check this thread in 7 hours.
Be sure to get the new N7 for that price by the way not the 2012 model.
