I'm no dev but how possible is a port for the S?
Youd probably have to ask the porters of the english version if they have this phone and plan on pushing it to it.

Does anyone have MIUI experience? Do we know if a MIUI port is in the works? Like MANY more, I am willing to donate for this MASTERPIECE
I am so jealous of my Wife's MyTouch 4G right now! The MIUI Rom just straight poops all over the Nexus S right about now. :-(

I have no idea. I'm not really a fan of Iphone, I mean MIUI
not trying to hate on MIUI but why buy a nice phone with stock gingerbread if you are going to completely destroy the major reason anyone would get the phone.?
There is a difference between flashing CM7 and MIUI iono just doesnt make sense to me
haha^ your completely right bro
I wasn't going to say anything, but please explain how the MIUI rom "poops" all over the Nexus S? Why do you have a Nexus S?
As an ex MIUI user on the N1 (Launcher pro though - ewwww iPhone UI ) - I'd love to see it on the NS. I'd still buy another NS without a second thought though - amazing phone.
Sorry... I guess I dint word it right. I meant it is amazing as far as the customizations go A lot of cool features on it I would like to see my NS!
As Far as "pooping" all over the Nexus I am only stating this as her Snapdragon is clocked @ 1.8!
Which we will see soon!

The MIUI 12.24 is on my NS now.
Been using MIUI (on my N1 for 2 months).
Have you tried junkdrugglers MIUI theme for ADW launcher on the market? It seems to do decent justice.

I would like to play with MIUI also

in the i9000 it said miui will support both nexus
Yes MIUI is definitely going to support NS as it is the official Google phone like N1. It's just a matter of time.
Was there REALLY a need or use for this thread? I mean, seriously!? It doesn't contribute anything...at all. I hate to be a **** but it surely twists my balls when I see a thread like this. Just wait and see, I'm sure an MIUI ROM will come sooner or later. It's just a matter of time. Have a nice evening .

I'm all for people voicing their opinions. However, this thread does not involve voicing any opinion. It is, more or less, an attempt to get someone to port MIUI to the Nexus S. I don't think it, in any way, involves "Themes" or "Apps." Just sayin'! I hope someone does port it just so threads like this cease to exist . That's all from me.

Just curious...What's the deal with the lack of development with our tab...specifically with the wifi version? Are the developers more interested in other tabs or what? Development just started to pick up and then went dead.

I'm not a developer but speaking strickly as a tablet user I can honestly say this is the first tablet I have owned where I had no desire to modify it in any way. This tablet functions just the way I want it too right out of the box.
So for me , lack of development has never been an issue.
Have to admit, even though I rooted so I could use Apps2SD, my Note is fairly perfect just the way it is.
It could be that they're waiting for jelly bean.
And yeah, the note is pretty much perfect the way it is.
I will say that I had the same problem with my note GT 7000 (the phone) having the perfect GUI.
It would be nice to see some fast kernels and slim Roms though. Maybe some themes.

+1. Exactly my point. ROMs arent always aosp. With our tab, because of the s pen functionality, its a given that custom stock roms would make more sense. But stock roms can always be slimmed down and tweaked.
I have asked a few devs if they could consider developing for the Note 10.1. And they have all asked they have a very tight schedeule but maybe later ( Indiemega) and another said about the same but he would be glad to help (Wanam) if i liked to develop myself. And its really no point in just building something thats no better or diffrent from stock. And that would be what i would have come up with, i dont have any skills to see what MOD or TWEAK would fit nice and that doesnt interfere with some other tweak. Lets just hope for the best and maybe when prices goes down in a couple of months the devs start coming.
I too don't pretty much have any issue in the way my Note 10.1 performs. It is already cool. Plus the promised JB update will make it even better. So why bother developing anything for something that's bound to get better in near future?
Let's wait and see and in the meantime enjoy our precious
Im going to say this again... theres always a need for development. No matter how good the stock rom is we as a community need custom roms. Lol

I don't feel the need for this tablet... Just waiting for Jelly Beans!
Also can't wait for the Note II!
Develop for those that really need it.
this is the first tablet where i've had where stock is pretty damn good. great battery life, snappy processor, no real bugs... other than some apps i don't need this thing is great as is. even overclocking wouldn't make much of a difference in my usage.
still i'd probably flash a good JB rom when ever they start rolling out.
Devs come super handy when the product you like so mucho gets dropped officially, say goodbye to sweet potatoe pie 6.0, unless you upgrade the hardware.
dont burn bridges man, we need devs in the later years, no doubt.

Hi guys,
Since we saw Android 4.4 launch today we heard Sundar Pichai Saying "It will support devices with minimum of 512MB RAM" I think we can hope our HTC One S will be directly updated to Android 4.4. Since this "Once Flagship" device meets every requirement for Getting Kitkat treatment can anyone tell me whether our One S will be updated to Android 4.4???

No. It has been discontinued, get over it. Also One S wasn't even a flagship.
4.4 wasn't made to support older devices, it's so the low-end devices won't lag so much.

Yeah. I don't think there's any phone that will get updated with the lower requirements of KitKat.

These new "lower requirements" will pretty much just be for all phones moving forward, large and small. From this point on, all phones of any speed and power will be able to be released with the same software. But I don't see any of the major players suddenly deciding that now is a good time to dust off their old models and suddenly provide an update for it.
we WILL get kitkat, one way or another
It probably HAS a good chance since HTC announced the day after release it will roll out 4.4 kitkat over the next 90 days. It will be ported to a new rom i'm sure.

But there has been no confirmation from HTC that it wont serve us KITKAT right? And they ve even discontinued Sense5 update so being a new and affordable update i think it will make them rethink their decisions

They never gave support on 4.2+ to the One S, and never will. If you manage to convince them let me know.
I'm not trying to sound harsh but no one should get their hopes up so high and then be disappointed when there's no update.
If HTC will update the One XL to 4.4 we'll probably get a working porting of the Sense 5.5.
But we'll also get some 4.4 AOSP ROMs...thats sure...

when will see this great roms in our poor p8max?:crying:
Only when some developer actually bought this phone, or the kirin source code is released... if not, we're pretty much screwed... CM projects must have enough critical mass before they are started, and considering the release range of P8Max is limited to some parts of Europe and china, I would say that we're pretty much F***ed...

Am butting in - thats all well and true and even I felt the same but one of the main reasons we opt for Android is customisation and after some time, you feel like changing the ROM and when you cant, it feels suffocating. Even though I love the phone, am thinking of changing just because of ROM non-availability. It was the exact reason I opted out of Huawei after using Mate and again having the Deja Vu feeling.

Hello everyone,
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - International Edition's kernel has been made opensource (The one variant that we thought would never get an opensource kernel has got it, officially ), but I have a few questions :
Q1. Will Cyanogenmod ever come for it, because this phone will never get any version updates form Samsung, unless you buy the S8, S9 etc...etc....
Q2. Does this opensource kernel mean it can be directly used to compile a version of Android N on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - International Edition, without many hiccups ...... hiccup .
P.S. I do know that TWRP is available for this variant of the Samsung flagship, making it a 2016 developer phone, but is it worth it because the custom ROMs are not out yet to use, if they ever come, that is.
Here's a link to the page from where you can download it's kernel sources :
opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=SM-G935F
Uh... kernel sources (I'm pretty sure) have always been avaliable for the exynos. The problem is exynos is closed source meaning it's harder to develop CM etc for it. This just means we can now have a custom kernel for our custom stock firmwares. I'm new to exynos so I may be wrong. But Sammy always releases kernel sources.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
A lot of parts of a unix kernel are based on open source development covered under GPL license. So every smartphone manufacturer is forced to release Kernel Sources within 90 days. So nothing new here. What kernel devs would need is a more structured, commented and documented code like Qualcomm SoCs get + the huge amount of kernel optimization done at Code Aurora Forums.
Samsung have to release the kernel source, it's part of what allows them to use Android. However, they don't release any more than they absolutely have to. Don't think for a minute this means we're going to end up with a stable release of CM13.
Though hopefully it does mean we should have some decent stock-based kernels soon.

Why do people then buy such expensive phones when they know it's not gonna get any updates and at the same time there is no Cyanogenmod or any other such custom ROMs like that, coming for it ? Wouldn't everyone just buy a Nexus then. There has to be more than this here, right ?

There will be custom roms + kernels but there won't be any official support by all the aosp crews... And for most ppl the quality of a phone is more important than dev potential. I like how good development is able to mod or optimize a phone. But buying a worse phone which never can catch up with the best ones even if the whole optimization potential is used only because you could optimize more is not an alternative for a lot of ppl...

Lol or because the stock experience of the phone + stock rom + quality in every aspects is just great... I mean most ppl buy a phone to use it primarily and to mod/optimize it secondarily... For example if sd820 versions bootloader get unlocked sure they will push performance at 20% but it still wouldn't be competitive if it comes to battery life, app launching times and ram bandwidth of exynos...
