I wonder if anyone has thought of upgrading the camera to something like the Galaxy S3 8mp variety, may have a look into this unless anyone else has already?

Pimp my rom/your rom has a feature to change resolution to 8mp. I don't know if this works for 10.1 though and it doesn't add 1080p video recording.

Cheers, thanks for the info, although If the lens / sensor combination is inferior on the 10.1 note compared to the galaxy S3 then there wouldn't be any point upping the resolution, if anything it may make the image worse as it will just be upscaling.
I had a look round for a compatible alternative camera module but found nothing, I was hoping the one used was common to other devices but that isn't the case.
I wonder if its possible to add a 3G module with sim slot
Why didn't you just buy the 3g variant?

I don't really need it, however if the module is cheap and just clips into place like most other parts then why not?

lets see.. dual camera implies 2 cameras, and the nexus 5 has one camera, so no.
Brilliant...

nexus 5 has two cameras... front and back
probably talking about the dual camera feature

might be a hardware limitation... dunno...

ah, i figured the op was talking about two back cameras, like a few camera phones come with now-a-days. using both front and back to record could be a possibility, that is if someone finds that this feature is important to them enough for them to spend time on it to find a solution. personally, i cant see how using the front and back cam to record vids can be useful to myself, at all.
dual recording
On gsmarena i saw in nexus 5's specs that it has this feature (dual recording). I was checking the settings and i didn't see anything about it.
hi is it possible to film in slowmotion
I must see device is a little bit disappointing
S4 I owned has a lot more functions for pictures and some phones I used has possibility for fiming in slow motion
Is it possible on s5
are there extra camera possiblities ?
thx
This is S5 Mini, what do you expect? The same power and features as the S5. Dream on
Use SnapCamera HDR
If there is any possibility to port add-on from S5, that have it in stock camera.

I had Slow/Mo camera app ported to my S3. So it should be possible, at least.

Bought it, very nice program! You can shoot videos on 60,100,120fps and you can change audio codecs, video codecs, etc. I recommend it.
Hey all, I haven't heard much about camera specs in all the excitement about Lollipop and now PA on the G3, I am on CM12 now and loving it but I miss having 4k recording on the camera... Any way to bring this back? Maybe a camera app port? [emoji1]
That is the only reason I went back to a stock based ROM. Love my camera.
I know this is something we can do... We have some great developers here... WINK WINK!... That is the only only thing it is missing. I'm going to try some build.prop edits to see if it will work, but I doubt it.

Agreed, CloudyG3 is great. It's my go to ROM unless I'm on CM12, I had to flash back today because I'm having WiFi issues on CM.
Aosp ROMs always have bad cameras they use googles **** camera

I have had many phones...Nexus, Touchwiz, Sense, and now the G3...it cannot be done.
But the ability to record 4k is in the hardware, right? If it were strictly a software up conversion then yes it would be an issue, but if it is native to the camera hardware it seems like the camera app would just need to have the support for that feature of the sensor...
I sorta think its silly to record in 4k without even having a 4k TV to play it against. I honestly can't justify it, so I'll stick with the pros of having cm12 instead. Fwiw the Google camera isn't all that bad really. If I need pro photos, that's what my Sony nex is for.

But we do all own a phone that plays 4k... And if you down sample to 1080p it retains a lot of sharpness and clarity not possible from strait 1080p recording.

This is the thing right here. I want to be able to record in 4k so that I can downsample/crop/frame a 1080p edit of that footage with amazing clarity and control.
I desperately want to be able to do this on AOSP on the G3, but the going, thus far, is slow.
Recently YouTube brought back 4k playback. Check out the GoPro channel. Sweet stuff. They need an LG G3 channel...
I don't think the quality in stock vs Google camera can ever be matched sadly.

Stock camera is ages ahead of the CM Camera (Googles), there is just no comparison, once you look at the photos on a big screen you notice the lower quality on the Google camera photos., also with CM you will loose:
Laser Focus, 4K video recording and Slow Motion
If your recording in 4k only to convert to 1080 because it looks better it's because your editing software isn't doing it's job. I've tried it both ways and get the same results. And yes unless you're filming for a professional job that will use cinema standards or own a 4k TV recording in 4k just takes up too much space for no reason. I also recommend waiting quite a few years before attempting to get a useless UHD TV.
Hi friends, will it be possible to have s8 camera application in s7? Will it work just as well in our s7?
as far as i know those two has identical sensors, so porting it won't be a much trouble, i think

The part of the software image processing would be very interesting.

They're not identical, the s8 uses a imx333, the s7 uses an imx260.
There seems to be some contridictory information on the web about three camera modules for the s7. Has anyone got a definitive answer about which camera module is for which variant of the s7 and who makes them?
I think there is no straight answer like "this model uses this sensor"
Me and my wife both bought 930F Exynos assembled in Brazil, one in september other in december 2016. One has Sony sensors and the other Samsung.
By the way if I´m right the only app that can differentiate the sensor is Aida64.
Are there two Sony sensors? The v02 without the Sony name on it and the v03 with the Sony name? Also, one has a blue cable and the other green. And the third type, the completely round one, is that the Samsung isocell?
By the way, I have the Sony sensor, according to Aida64, but it appears there are two versions. I wo der if they are cross compatible because I want to replace mine.

Ok, I understand the difference between the isocell and the sony, but what about the module labelled hero 12m 2pd , ls1 v02. Who made that?

No one knows man. Buy it, replace it, check aida64 and tell us.
isocell is best...
But apparently if you replace a sony camera with a samsung it won't work. Which seems strange as they use the same roms.

I have the answer. The only camera that is Sony is the one that says Sony on it. The other two are both Samsung. I discovered this by installing them in my s7 and using the app Aida64 to check.
