[APP][2.2+] flashME - never miss a phone call or text again - Android Apps and Games

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lovetere.flashme
flashME will be your light notification in your Android phone.
The flashlight embedded in your device will promptly blink as your phone is ringing, or a new text has been received. Moreover, you can set/unset the flashlight blinking for each different notification event (Facebook or Twitter update, calendar alert, any other apps events). You can decide to have your light notification only when your cell phone is upside down, and the light will continue blinking till you get the notification.
This app is greatly helpful for people with hearing disabilities.
Some features may require the full version.
The app was tested on:
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus,
- Samsung Galaxy Note,
- Samsung Galaxy S2*,
- Samsung Galaxy S3*,
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1,
- Sony Xperia miro.
We are aware that flashME could not properly work with some device configurations. This is not a bug, and the issue could be fixed after a custom device configuration. Please contact the developer for any feedback and any further comments.
(*) If you buy the full version with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 the following procedure is required to fix a problem with TalkBack: go to Settings -> Application manager -> All - Disable Google TTS (text to speech) - Disable Samsung TTS (text to speech).

Released v.1.0.3.2
Fixed a problem with in-app purchase

Good app, was going to make one w/ Tasker but found this. (donated via in app purchase) one suggestion though... Would like to see an option to set hibernation times. Don't need my flashlight going off all night.
Good app though! I will use the orientation setting though till I see hibernation option. Thanks
Edit: you can add that your app has been tested and works on the HTC EVO 4G LTE running CM 10.1 toasted deck build from IRC 2.15.13 (4.2.2). (i.e. Works and does what it's supposed to do)

The notification feature of flashME works on my Galaxy SII, but I seem to have one problem. After I give the application permissions under accessibility, voice notifications turn on automatically, telling me things like "folder open", "menu one of three" and so on.
Is there a way to turn this feature off while flashME is running?

SMS App with tablet UI

Hi every one
I'm currently looking for a SMS app that let me see my list of conversation on the left and the conversation I selected on the right (something like the landscape mode SMS app for Galaxy SII). All I can find when looking for a tablet SMS app are apps that read SMS from a phone and display them on the tablet, but that's not what I'm looking for, as I want this app on my Paranoid Android Galaxy S. I hope what I mean is understandable enough, thanks in advance for anyone who answers.
So you want the SMS app to look like the tablet version of gmail?
Sent from my Nexus S using Codename Android Jelly Bean
Yes, I'm looking for something like that.
The sidekick 4g also has a stock mms app in that style. Somebody would need to recompile it for aosp though. Better off with the other one though cuz the sidekick used custom everything...

split view
samsung comes with a nice split view on galaxy tabs, unfortunately lost the view with switch to cm.
in the market is tablet sms by player thong, which only helps you with sms sent from this app.
on the left is the contact list. checked it, deleted it.
No other good sms app for phablets?

[APP][2.2+]: Sweep Texting

Sweep Texting allows users to receive, view, and send text messages, all without touching their phones. It uses the proximity sensor to implement intuitive gestures: you can sweep down your screen as though you're giving permission for the app to "come" to you and display itself. An alert dialog will then pop up with the text message and you can reply to it within the dialog itself (you don't have to switch out of the app you're currently using). Then, when you want to send the message, you simply sweep up as though you're commanding the text message to "go away" and send itself.
Since the app is completely touch-free (with the exception of typing in your actual message), it is extremely useful in hands-free situations where looking at the screen and switching through multiple screens to access messages may be a hazard (driving, for instance). The app also gives users a nice futuristic feel to their text messaging experience and allows them to customize it with multiple color schemes.
FULL LIST OF FEATURES:
--Sweep down to view a text message after it arrives.
--Sweep up to send your reply back to whoever you're texting.
--Tap on your message to go directly to your Inbox.
--Supports multiple messages from different senders.
--Supports messages longer than one text message.
--Hide a message and then sweep down to view it again at a later time.
--Choose between Holo styled (ICS only) or five different dialog colors.
--Choose between five different text balloon colors.
--Toggle to disable in Landscape mode.
--Toggle to enable/disable "Message Sent" sound.
--Enable/Disable toggle so you can turn off the app's features when you don't need it.
APP: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.FlightGear.SweepTextingFree
UPDATE: More color schemes added! Check it out!

Unfortunately, the app is only available in the United States for now (due to export tax law issues). I'll be rolling the app out to other countries soon, though!
Really like this app though sadly it doesn't work with 3rd party messaging apps specifically sliding messaging (what I'm using) only seems to work with stock :-\
also can't reopen text a after dismissing..

Yeah, I could only find Intents that work with the stock messaging app when a text comes in. I'm actually working on porting it over with Google Voice and other 3rd party messaging apps are on my to-do list. I'll let you know when the updates become available.
And "Dismiss" is supposed to mark a message as read (so you won't be able to access it). If you want to be able to access a message after you view it, you should use the "Hide" button (that's what it's for). Glad you like the app though!

Are you using one of the custom color schemes? I don't think they have support for the "Hide" button (I couldn't get the dialog to accept more than one button for some weird reason... prolly an SDK bug). Try using the Holo theme. You can see from my screenshots that there actually is a "Hide" button for the Holo theme. Hope this helps!
Also, if you like the app, please consider sharing it with your friends/leaving a rating and review on Google Play. That'll help support future development of this app. Thanks!

I don't think activities can be shown on the lockscreen. The text message dialogs are individual activities so I don't think I can place them on the lockscreen. If I do find a way though, I'll implement that into the app. Thanks for the tip!

k cool, i would also like to pint out that if you are using a alt messaging app that has an option to wake upon receiveing a text enabled the app works fine, though if it wakes to the lockscreen and is in your pocket at the time you receive a text then this app wont respond to any sweeping after unlocking until you receive another text (unless of course the same scenario happens at which case you'd have to open the text normally) now if there is a way for it to ignore all sweeping over the sensor while at lockscreen then this would be fixed but as im not an app dev idk what you can and cant do, maybe something to look into maybe a waste of time idk, just the only thing that i can think of that would provide a nice work around

That sounds like a good plan. I'm looking into implementing that right now.
Also, the price of the app has been reduced by 25% ($1.50). It has also been released in most European Union countries, so if you weren't able to download it before because of country limitations, you can get it now (as long as you're in the EU)!

Also just found that under certain situations sweep texting may keep the proximity sensor on even if there are no more texts but a user workaround is to freeze the app with titanium backup or rom toolbox(what I use) or the like and then to unfreeze it will see if I can figure out what causes it or get log for you

There are no configurable options yet. The only "option" you will see is at the setting screen and it directs you to the accessibility settings.

There might be a conflict with other accessibility services that you have. Try turning off those services and see if that works.
Maybe has something to do with new gv update?

As long as the GV app creates a notification, it will not break the extension. Did you try disabling other accessibility services?
I was hesitant, only because I rely on the other services accessing the option. If it is that, unfortunately the extension will be of no use to me, but I will try. Also, it may be that I do not have the notification option in status bar checked in the Google voice options? I don't have it checked because I don't want it in the status bar as well as the widget. I have another app, google voice + messaging, and it does not require this. I will give your suggestion a whirl. Thanks.

The reason I suggest turning off other services is solely for debugging purposes. If two accessibility services monitor the same events, only one of them will actually receive it, depending on which service is registered with the system first.
And yes (I'm 95%+ sure), you need notification for GV on for the extension to have something to monitor on. Blame all these on a lack of GV api from Google

[Request] Custom app list in notifications on headphone plug in

I'd like the Samsung Galaxy S3 feature ported over if possible so that I can set a custom list of apps to show up in my Notification dropdown when headphones are detected. I bought the 'Plug In Launcher' app from the market, but it's only a dialog that shows up one time - when the headphones are first plugged in and I miss being able to quickly switch between my favorite apps by using the notification pulldown. Thanks!
Note Buddy in the play store is a great way to replace this function.

WatchIt vs Augmented Smartwatch Pro

Both these two applications can push notifications from all apps on the phone. WatchIt is free, ASP is not, but it is more powerful, since it has Tasker integration, and can do more.
Which one are use using, and what are the pros/cons over the other?
Are there other alternatives?
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't want to get eye cancer so I'm using WatchIt. (Augmented SmartWatch really looks awful to me.) For Tasker, there's the Tasker Smart Extension and WatchIt! will also display notifications from Tasker.
If you want to do more complex stuff, you can always use Remote Widget and Zoom for Tasker do use interactive widgets from the SW2.
Yes, the look and feel of Augmented Smartwatch is ugly...
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
For some reason Augmented Smartwatch causes my S4 to lock up. I've worked some with the developer, and I even reset my phone. My s$ locks up for about 20 seconds when a notification comes in, and my watch goes blank. Eventually the notification pops up on the watch. From what little I have been able to use it, it actually is too much IMHO. Watchit! is simple and generally what I need.
I'm very want to use ASP because of ASP's powerful function and full screen show notification when running app on watch.
But it can't show Full-width characters well. (like "char")
While showing long string of Full-width, it will only show one line and beyond the watch, but not word wrap.
May ASP author can fix this error, certainly i will purchase this app and using as well.
Watchit seems to be ok, but I did have a problem with that. My Note 10.1 (touchwiz?) / A4.1.2 started talking back to me when the easy accessibility was on for Watchit (and talkback was off). I think I managed to fix it by the way i found it from another discussion: need to clear data from google text to speech app. (When the easy access is still on for Watchit - otherwise it will keep talking back). Seems to work great!
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk 4
Watchit
I bought the ASP application, but I do not use .... Why?:
1.- Text is infamous
2.- I have not gotten to see pictures of Whatsapp
3.- Notices of whatsapp can not be selected for viewing (Watchit can)
4.- Weather is bad
5.- Watchit.... Free
6.- ASP....4,99 €
Undoubtedly watchit
Galaxy note 1, With J. B. 4.1.2 and SmartWatch 1
Have to agree with the majority here, i tried ASP but its sooo ugly and takes a bit of configuration, watchit works well, quickly and does what you want.
Both apps arnt perfect but free vs £3 is a no brainer
tbh alot of things are workarounds for what sony could develop and implement but havnt
If the galaxy gear wasnt so damn expensive, i'd have one instead
Seems like I need to clear data from Google text-to-speech everytime I restart the phone - otherwise my phone is talking back to me when scrolling screens. Well, a minor bug... I rarely shutdown/restart the phone anyway. Some other thing I notice that WatchIt (or sw2? not sure) interacts with developer sections choices somehow, mixing the settings so that phone doesnt know if they are turned on or off and you need to restart your phone. (Note 10.1 / A4.1.2)
When compairing SW2 and Gear, Im so lucky that Samsung didn't update my N8000 before Xmas (Gear needs A4.3 to run), I would have bought Gear aswell. BUT... SW2 looks much better than Gear, and it feels great on your wrist (a metal band) and I couldnt even wear Gear at work (water/chemicals/not wearable with a suit or better clothes either). I don't need functions like "talk to the hand!" or similar.. Just plain, classy-looks watch to notify me: phones, sms, etc... because I keep my phone (N8000) all the time in a bag, and i rarely even hear when it rings or get messages. And if I heard it rings, i didnt know who's calling.
SW2 and Gear were almost the same price: 199 euros (metal band) / 249 euros, so it wasn't the "money issue". The quality and style of SW2 is impressive and I feel lucky that I didnt bought Gear. Thank you Samsung you didn't update my device! :victory:
Wristin is another alternative.
Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk 4
Two things with Watchit! and every other sw2 notification app I've tried. 1st, you can't mark the notification as viewed on the phone, when checked on the watch. And secondly, text grouping. Would be nice to have each contacts in their own thread. If anyone knows of solutions to these or another app which has these features it would be much appreciated
Cheers

Is there any SW2 notification app that does this? I'm thinking about replacing my Pebble with the Sony but if this functon is missing, I probably wouldn't.
On the Pebble, there's an app called Notification Center that allows you dismiss the phone notification with one button and keep the phone notification with a press of the other button.

In the description for that app, it only mentions that your watch notifications will be marked as read when you turn on your phone display. Doesn't work the other way around I don't think.

I am using "WatchNotifier" as well. Great App.
If you only need whatsapp notification on your smartwatch then you can try WhatsApp Smart Notification. It also displays the contact picture and UI is good.
