Hello,
I'm looking for how to make an update.zip with this firmware Dapeng.
Or how to extract the system.img of this firmware above.
Thank you for your help and sorry for my BAD English !
I gathered all the conversations in XDA about the Dapeng A8500:

Dear XDA Noobs and Gurus,
U have this lousy DaPang Dpad which I want to flash, restore, re-rom and just redo. I have managed to completely unlock it and root it but the rom is not available to be backed up or restored. I checked out the root folders and no rom. I have scoured the web and this forum for valuable information but have come up short...
I am unable to get to fastboot mode or find a rom manager that works with it. IF I press the power button, volume rocker up and the menu button, it takes me to "Factory Mode" which has, "Full Test", "Item Test", "Test Report", "Clear Flash", "Version" and "Reboot". Nothing else. I cannot seem to find a restore screen or find a way to restore/flash the original rom or even a new one. I have done my homework around this issue and if there is someone out there that might help me here, great, if not, I will keep plugging away.
Thank you for any help (in advance). Oh and Happy Holidays (Merry Christmas)!

hey jayguruson if u press vol. up + power u will end up at the recovery mode, where u can flash / install 'update.zip' file. i tried to install DSP (equalizer) and uRevoke (some sort of custom recovery mode but were meant for a certain brand phone) but failed. it just stopped halfway. i also used titanium backup to save a backup file (update.zip..inside there is a META-INF and data files, is this the rom backup file?).

I finally decided to look at the datasheet after I couldn't find any useful info to overclock MT6516, & I don't think it can be done. MT6516's max speed is 416Mhz (not 460Mhz) and it's already set to run max speed by default. Even if we manage to configure the scaling governor, that would have been futile (unless you want underclocking )
It would be nice to hear opinions from the real experts here though.

i tried widget overclock. it shows 200+. am i right to assume that is the A8500 speed running. if that is the speed then it can be overclocked, probably to 400 or 500.
i also tried setcpu. it shows a reading of max speed about 500+ but it can't run, always FC.
my understanding is, if the stock rom can be re-packaged (hopefully with a customized 'kernel') and re-flashed back, then the rom will become a customized rom. and all overclock program will only works with a customized rom/kernel.

update zip file
here's the titanium backup update zip file for whoever can make use of it. i m not very sure if it is the original rom file. i created it with titanium backup pro.
http://www.4shared.com/folder/q7JWoBJX/_online.html
i m also not very sure of this upload file. 1st time doing this uploading. i can't upload with megaupload and a few other becos my country malaysia had blocked those sites. so i hope those who have files for sharing can also upload to 4share. tq
Hi cwkhong ,
to start thank you,but the files that are needed is not in the update.zip titanium.
If you want, I will explain how to quickly extract the whole system of Dapeng it's very easy because I need it urgently
1)you need rooted your Dapeng with z4root in Dapeng tools :
(after installed z4root,execute click on permanent root and after the Dapeng re-boot and you rooted)
2)you need install RootExplorer in Dapeng tools.
3)Open RootExplorer and copy the file system (for copy you need long press on the file)
4)open file sdcard in RootEplorer and past, wait for the copy
5) you upload the file system
(Have no fear, no personal data is in system)
There is another way to extract all: boot.img, system, recovery.
This method by the SDK is very interesting in the future if you want to manipulate the system Dapeng and see many other things.
I think I'll need (boot.img) to create an update.zip for recovery by the Dapeng and to provide a ROM for other people who have blocked their Dapeng A8500.
1)you need rooted your Dapeng with z4root here in Dapeng tools :
(after installed z4root,execute click on permanent root and after the Dapeng re-boot and you rooted)
2)you need install the SDK on your PC,just copy SDK file in C:/ :
3)you go in Dapeng and active "débogage USB"in Paramètres/applications/développement.
4)now you follow this tutorial :

Dapeng Tools :

SDK :

r u going to create a custom rom? or u unpack, edit, repack and reflash? so that means after this the phone can be overclock?
maybe u teach me how to unpack and repack the rom. i want clean out all those bloatware/rubbish in the original rom to become a clean light rom.
what is the 'recovery-update.zip' file i found in ur Star tools? is that a custom recovery mode that will overide the stock one?
i really hope u can make it. good luck

Hi,
in the Dapeng tools there is a clockrecovery-update.zip, renamed update.zip, you copy your SD and get into the recovery to original flash update.zip.
Then to activate the button return to confirm press: Vol + and return to activate the confirmation button with return key.(insist if not work)
Now not need to sign update.zip for this clockrecovery but is tempory after re-boot not installed, look here:

speakers issue
hello there it's been awhile, any development?
anyway i wonder if there is a way to adjust the phone speakers setting, front and back. i find the sound loud but distorted, very high pitch near crackling. or maybe it is the speakers itself, poor quality. if so, is it possible to replace the speakers on my own without sending to phone shop. i have a few old phones with okay speaker quality.
that's it?
so nothing? it is frustrating to see improvements on those A1000,A2000,A3000..etc but nothing for A8500. guess i'll just use it as a phone, what a shame.
hi, i see you have updated the firmware to A8500 android 2.2 sucessfully.i just checked there is a upgrade version of A8500, called A8500+, it is android 2.3 with MTK6573, do you know whether your firmware can work in this phone?
2.3 update?
where is that a8500 2.3 update? my phone is mt6516. its different fr mt 6573 probably lower cpu. can u explain how to update?

Android Ver.: 2.2.1

The phone goes off whenever the screen is timed out (say display time out at 30 seconds, then the phone shut off automatically after 30 seconds). Even, if I press the power off button to turn off the display, the phone goes off and never switched on pressing the power button. To switch on the phone, I have to re-insert the battery and then press the power on button.
Please advice me how to set the screen time out and power on problem. thanks.
Dapeng A8500+ MT6573 Bricked solid
Hi Bruno,
I happily used the phone for about seven months.
Everything was great until I installed ROM Tool Box, and as soon I installed some larger system font, the phone died instant death. I've tried flashing tools but, by using half a knowledge combined with even lesser:silly: patience, the result is that now I can't even get to the new Android boot logo. Here are the ROM details:
MS Board: e1103_v73_hjy1ctp
UBoot Ver.: 2010.06
Kernel Ver.:
2.6.35.7 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 PREEMPT Mon Mar 19 12:30:44 CST 2012
Android Ver.: 2.3.6
SW Ver. : ALPS.GB.FDD2.MP.V4.5
Custom Build : 1332139481.
I'm fully prepared to make a donation to enable you to carry on your great work for the community. One also must pay for the foolishness.
Best,
Lev.

Rooting mt6577 GT-N9300+ Galaxy S3 clone

I'm posting this here since im not allowed to post in this thread (dont have 10 posts): Root MANY ANDROID! [Upd: 13.10.2012]
I have succesfully rooted my mt6577 GT-N9300+ Galaxy S3 smartphone clone by following the steps (at your own risk):
connect phone to pc by USB cable
install correct driver until it is shown in Device manager as a "Android Phone" - "Android Composite ADB interface". The driver can be easily found on the web if you search for "usb_driver_MT65xx_Android_.rar". If you don't know how to install a driver stop this procedure and learn windows.
Go to "settings" in your smart phone
go to 'SYSTEM' , 'developer options' and enable 'USB debugging'
go to 'PERSONAL', 'Security' and enable 'Unknown sources'
Follow instructions in Bin4ry's first post (here ) and start his procedure (runme.bat)
Choose number 1) 'normal mode' in this procedure
Your smart phone pops up backup/restore --> choose 'restore'
Let your smart phone restart
Your phone is rooted thanks to Bin4ry:good::good:

Thanks for the confirmation. But did your phone remain in the exact state after rooting, as it was prior to rooting. It mentions restore and I dread that it will restore the phone but I don't want it to do that.

Hi Lee,
I installed some apps and changed settings before rooting. After rooting nothing was changed. As far as i know it was not restored to stock. I think the backup/restore procedure is required to install the Superuser app correctly (correct me if I am wrong).
Sorted - just took a little courage to believe it would remain as it was but with root.
Superuser app installed and browsed root with root explorer.
Thanks

However, SuperUser is not installed and the phone is not rooted.. What could be the problem here? I got this phone called Phecda i9300 from Amazon.. In About Phone, it shows as Alps GT-9300.. Any help would be appreciated..

- SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1224.01.7 : loaded my scatter file and recovery.img CWM patched from Bruno .. but when I load scatter file I can see only 00 memory address only and no other address!

i'm posting this here since im not allowed to post in this thread (dont have 10 posts): root many android!
If you don't know how to install a driver stop this procedure and learn windows.
go to "settings" in your smart phone
go to 'system' , 'developer options' and enable 'usb debugging'
go to 'personal', 'security' and enable 'unknown sources'
follow instructions in bin4ry's first post (here ) and start his procedure (runme.bat)
choose number 1) 'normal mode' in this procedure
your smart phone pops up backup/restore --> choose 'restore'
let your smart phone restart
your phone is rooted thanks to bin4ry:good::good:

[Q] I can´t root on -ampe A91

A few days ago I bought a tablet Ampe A91, and went without the google apps.
I'm interested enough to have them, and I know that I need to root permissions.
I tried vroot, kingroot, framaroot, srsroot, mktdroid, shuame, motochopper_auto_root ... and I have not gained access, as close, is that I installed the application SuperSU but with the message: No binaries for SU installed and can not install SuperSU . This is a problem!
The tablet is MT 6572W and takes android 4.4.2
model number: MID
baseband version MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V43,2014 / 11/12 15:43

[Droid Maxx 4.4.4 SU6-7] Trying to root and can't run RUN_Root.bat

Hello all, I've been trying to root my Droid Maxx 4.4.4 SU6-7 and was working fine until after bricking it, I was unable to run the RUN_Root.bat. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. This is the error I would get in the command prompt after trying to run RUN_Root.bat .

I can still use the USB I think. I see Qualcomm HS-USB Loader 9008 (COM9) in the device manager whenever I would plug in the USB and it was manually updated after I selected x64 folder from the windows_drivers_QHSUSB_DLOAD folder(windows would say it was up to date when selecting x64 folder). I tried different ports but the Port otion never shows up for them in the device manager. I'm also not using USB 3.0.
I believe I followed every other instruction as far as I know from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/droid-mini-maxx-ultra-root-pogress-100-t3071609 I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out.

Besides manually update the driver.
First, you have to disable the mandatory use of signed drivers in Windows.
Why? The driver you are trying to install (or update) is not signed and windows by default only allows the use of signed drivers.
Search a tutorial on "how to install an unsigned driver Windows 7"
I send you some, but I am the translator of google lol ..
I had a similar problem for the driver and the solution I gave you, solved my problem.
The best of luck, a big hug!
I managed to fix my problem yeasterday following br0adband advice in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62651329&postcount=1159 sorry I forgot to close my thread(if I can figure out how). Thanks for that helpfull tip though, I'll keep that in mind for later driver issues.

How to root a new purchased rk3188 unit correctly without installing custom rom?

I purchased the following Android 5.1.1 rk3188 unit:
https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/Car-...luetooth-andrdoid-5-1-system/32805370646.html
The unit runs on android 5.1.1 and uses an rk3188 chip.
I need to root it because I want to install TomTom GO on it, at the moment i cannot install it because TomTom gives a internet connection error when i start the app.
Elsewhere on the forum i found a solution how to fix this, by changing the serialnumber and or devicetype/make/model etc.
To do this my unit needs to be rooted and xposed installed but currently it isn't rooted, i also want to keep using the stock rom because i like the interface and it has a special option for the MINI (mph button) in the interface.
I tried too root it myself but sadly i failed.
I entered *#hct#root# in factory settings and it stated 'adb rooted' (or something) but still i have no root when i run a root check app.
I then rebooted (as advised) and installed the latest version of kingoroot and ran it, sadly this app reports it has failed to root it.
Now my question is how do i root this device without installing a custom rom and install xposed so i can change my serial number to get tomtom go working?

I always used KingoRoot successfully on all 5.1.1 MTCB ROMs. Did you have Internet access when trying to root? Kingo root needs to download files from the Internet, if you're not connected it won't work.

Yes i had internet and it downloaded files also, but root failed.
Maybe i did it wrong....
Should i reboot after i enabled adb root using factory settings password *#hct#root# ?
Is this correct:
- enable (adb) root factory setting
- reboot
- download and run kingoroot
OR
- enable (adb) root factory setting (do NOT reboot)
- download and run kingoroot

Just download and run kingoroot. The "*#hct#root#" code is no longer working on 5.1.1 ROMs

Looks like you're in the wrong section, you have a MTCD unit, not a MTCB/C
You should look for answers HERE
